I would generally only give one star, but I will give two for effort. The food is very bland, the place is a complete eyesore with dirty tables and dirty trays, but at least the people are nice. They didn’t get defensive when I requested another tray. I guess if you are a fan of divey, cheap ethnic eats, this would be the place for you. The whole time I was eating, I was praying not to get sick, and at the same time I wanted to hurry up and finish the meal so that I could rid myself of the not-so-clean tray. They had space heaters set up in the corner of every table… I was praying not to get food poisoning and not to get burned alive. Just be careful if you ever dare venture in there.

Good one and really cheap. Ambience is little bit shady, but it’s a dhaba style so we can expect it to be like that.

From the outside, it looks kind of bad, and inside it’s completely charm-free, but the choices are diverse and tasty. They have decent cheap eats; a good lunch for under $ 10 in a neighborhood where you could just as easily spend $ 100. I think a lot of their customers are taxi drivers who need it to go, as fast as possible, but there are a few tables if you have to eat there(I did). They’re Muslim, not Hindu, so there’s meat, just no pork. One meat + one veg + rice or naan bread + $ 8. I got chicken tikka masala, okra and naan. Go for the naan: you’ll have to wait a few minutes, but it’s so nice having warm bread that was just made, just for you.

Service sucks and the place isn’t much to look at but the food is good and priced very right for manhattan. I’m a white chick who loves indian food and i have came here quite a few times to get my fix. I go in and point at whatever random thing catches my attention because you can’t ask the girl behind the counter or she gets upset!

Their naan is divine, their service friendly, chicken spicy and great, and you can quickly gather world news via their TV, whether or not you speak the language. Fun is being had in here every day – such a combination of peaceful and noisy – a great break from work.

Is this what it feels like to take someone’s virginity? When i got Unilocal as an app, I didn’t know that I would want to Unilocal about everything, including where and when I pee. When is this gonna wear off? When I first went into this spot, it was a hot August day last year and I had to pee. Bad. The guy behind the counter took pity on the look of a desperate man and let me use the restroom without buying anything. Maybe he figured if he didn’t let me, he was going to have to mop up the urine on his floor, because that was how serious it was. There was no one in the restaurant and I told him I’d be back sometime soon. He had that, «Yeah, right» look on his face, but I was dead serious. I love hood Indian/Paki spots and this meets all MY qualifications: restroom that’s just above 3rd world quality and food that looks like it’s been sitting out all day, yet looks good. Now, I get to review it. And, I am the first one. Oh, yeah… The thing about the 6⁄7 $ combo spots is, I ONLY get veggie options, until I’ve been going there enough times where I know the owner/people who work there. This is the third time I’ve been here and I have had just about every veggie option and so far, no diarrhea. To meet, that’s a great sign. My fav combo is the spinach, okra and chick pea. The spinach is a lil spicy from the peppers/chili it’s cooked in but not overpowering. The okra tender without being overcooked and is delicious. The chickpeas are just heaven. All this over a big ass scoop of basmati rice and you are living like a king my friend. P. S., I also like the cabbage. All of that was $ 6. However, lets be clear about something here… this joint is ghetto and I would only go here, if I was in the area. By no means is this so good that it’s a destination joint. It’s a, «oh I have to go to that office down there and I’m in the mood for Indian, so I’ll eat there for lunch» kind of place. Well, Sheezan, thanks for letting me take your Unilocal virginity. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I’ll be back for more, hooker… if I’m in the area…

This is truly a hidden gem in the middle of tribeca. The food is authentic pakistan cuisine and absolutely delicious. I’ve been to many divey indian/pakistani take out places but this one is the best hands down. There is just something about the seasonign they put on their meats and vegeatbles that is so favorful yet not overly salty. I know because I don’t experience the need to drink massive amounts of water afterwards. A meat and vegetable over rice platter is only $ 8, a vegetable only over rice platter is $ 7. But, the best item is their shrimp rolls — I go out of my way to stop by after work to pick these up. They don’t always have them though; on the days where they are actually some available around 6:30pm — I consider those my lucky days. The five starts is purely for food. Don’t expect any ambience. There are tables available, but this is a bare bones take out place with fluorescent lighting occupied by people(a lot of cab drivers) who speak pakistani and watch pakistani satellite tv. I love that there is real culture in Tribeca.

The food was delicious. A plate costs $ 7 to $ 8 a dish. I had goat, cabbage, and okra over rice.

This place changed their name, but I am still so appalled by the food they serve that I decided to post my review again: Please do not eat here! My friend and I ran in here for lunch once and despite the overall shoddiness of the«dining» establishment and against our better judgment, we decided to sample the food; we were very hungry. Well, two days after consuming our precooked and microwaved on styrofoam plate meals, both my friend and I came down with some nasty food poisoning. For more information, please see a list of their atrocious health violations:

I go to school a few blocks away and was craving Indian. I don’t know much about any kind of South Asian food(really), so I can’t attest to if it was authentic, but I can tell you that it was good. I had a lunch special with chicken tikka(?), okra, and a turnip/vegetable curry stew thing… all over white rice. It was all very tasty and very palatable. Nothing was too spicy(I can handle spicy food though, so I consider it spiced and not«hot» or even«spicy») and it didn’t feel too greasy or thick. The okra probably helped. I have a feeling everything I ordered was pretty light on the stomach. Also, they’re not exactly«generous» with their portions(a lot more of the«dishes» than the rice, which makes a leaner lower-starch meal), but that’s fine because I have to keep my supermodel figure anyway. Still, it’s perfectly acceptable by my standards and I have a feeling I’ll be going back.

this is(so far!) the 3rd Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi food place I’ve been to here in this part of downtown Manhattan. this time, they have a young woman serving in the counter. hmmm, pretty much the same in taste as with the other two that i visited in the area. i was delighted to have okra, eggplant and chicken(tiny cuts that are bony, this time). next time i’ll be back, i’ll ask for a piece of nan to go with my meal — i actually think these meals taste better with freshly baked bread. they also TV on the wall showing some programs from India, as I learned and verified from the customer seated next to me.

I like this place enough to go here a couple of times a week. The reason I give it only 3 stars is because of the young girl that works behind the counter. She is very unfriendly, and that will affect my choice of whether or not I want to go in. Other wise I love there Chicken Samosa! The Spinach is great, as well as the potato side. The Chicken Tikka Masala is nice but I prefer their Shrimp dish. I will definitely choose this over the pakastani tea house.

This is a Bengali Restaurant, and although I am not Bengali, the food is the second closest to home cooking that I’ve had in the City. One caveat, they tend to go a bit heavy on the salt, particularly with a spinach dish they make. The dhal is great, very thick and not watery at all like at many other places. The meat dishes are really good as well. Highly seasoned, and not drowning in oil as is common with many other restaurants. The place itself is not much to look at, perhaps slightly shabbier(a hair) than Pakistani Tea House.
