I’m waiting here with my 86 yr old Mom and we have been waiting 4 hours for Doctor to see her. She has painful blisters and ulcers on both her legs. The nurse took her blood and it’s just sitting there waiting on Doctor order to send it the lab. The nurses are just as frustrated because they can’t their attention. My observation is that this place is understaffed some where because the doctors are sitting behind the desk doing paperwork, on the phone with the lab, and typing stuff into the computer. They have not gotten out from behind for at least 2 hours to see patients. Such as inefficient process. Why do I need to explain my mom’s condition several times when it has been documented when she was first admitted. You know why??? Computer system is down!!!

We live 6 – 7 blocks from William street in Lower Manhattan. I had previously heard terrible things about this place but heard they had turned it around. So when my brother had an accident at work I called the hospital and explained to them the situation and they seemed very understanding and friendly so I took him to the ER. At the moment he is walking on crutches due to his injury and when he arrived they gave him a percaset and said there was nothing they could do for him. They were heartless, rude, and said he should go for an MRI uptown because MRI at their location takes weeks to schedule (even though on the phone they said they would do it, in an emergency). Due to the heartlessness, unfriendliness and un-​helpfulness of the doctors I called up UBER and just walked out and took him to a hospital Uptown where we were treated quickly, efficiently, with care and compassion. DO NOT GO HERE, WHO GOES TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM HERE, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN. WORSE PLACE EVER

I had a planned procedure done here, and had a very positive experience across the board. At each and every stage I found the staff truly kind, knowledgeable and attentive. It also was also fairly quiet, and we stayed pretty much on schedule. My husband was able to check in with me at each step of the way, and I thought all the hospital staff acted very considerately toward him. They even offered him a drink and a snack. I would definitely elect to have a procedure there again, if needed. I think most of the negative reviews pertain to the ER, which is usually pretty bad/​crowded/​hectic no matter where you go.

Not to fond of the location. It’s not so very friendly and welcoming especially when you are excited to visit a loved ones newborn.

I just delivered my baby, a 34 week old premie at New York Presbyterian, lower Manhattan. My primary doctor during my pregnancy was Dr. Ramon Wong at the Wellness Center right at the hospital. Dr. Wong has taken every step to make sure that my surgery went ok, from saving my baby, to making sure that my incision and my sutures were done with the upmost care, and aesthetics. Him and his colleagues, Dr. Scott-​Ram, Dr. Rasca, and the chair of the department, Dr. Snyder have all made sure that this journey would end in a wonderful and happy outcome. Dr. Fong and Dr. Huang, at the radiology wellness center were the ones that diagnosed my condition early on during my pregnancy. All of them took the steps and the necessary measures to make sure they could save my child’s life. I had a challenging pregnancy, with a rare condition called vasa previa, which required me to go for frequent follow up visits, a three week stay for bed rest, continuous monitoring at the hospital prior to a cesarean section, and a premature baby being taken care of at their NICU. I can not be more satisfied with the outcome of my condition. The team of doctors that has taken care of me and my baby has been extraordinary so far. The team of nurses that have taken care of me at their labor and delivery department has been amazing, efficient, and compassionate. The nurses that are taking care of my baby in NICU have been at the top of their game. The neonatologists, Dr. Kurtz and Dr. Amir, have been in control of my baby’s health so far and I could not ask for better care. My baby has been in NICU for 4 days and we are waiting for her to grow and get a little stronger before taking back home. But so far, we have not encounter any big problems. The hospital has gone through major changes through out the last few years. The quality of the doctors is unbelievable. The building itself is going through some improvements. It is definitely not a 5 star construction, and the hospital is small but the doctors are top notch. The postpartum maternity wing had excellent day nurses. The postpartum night staff was a bit subpart mostly due to a couple of nurses which are still residual from the old era of what the hospital used to be like. But, the hospital is trying really hard to improve and correct those small issues.

The care is abysmal and if you ever go they will keep sending you fundraiser mail. My unsubscribe email says it all:

Above and beyond the environmental waste generated by your paper mail, let me tell you about my experience at your hospital.
It was a Sunday afternoon and I had a terrible migraine something which never happens to me and I almost fainted.
The pharmacist at CVS urged me to see a doctor immediately; your hospital was a block away so I walked in.
The hospital was quasi empty with far more medical personnel than patients so I felt I was in luck for some quick advice.
It takes your unoccupied personnel 2 hours while I freeze in an over air conditioned hospital lobby before a seemingly half sedated doctor gives me an aspirin.
He did not let me go home however, no, I need to be discharged and signing the paper would take, I was told, an indefinite amount of time.
After an hour I leave outraged without the paper and get to bed.
For this exceptional service you billed my insurance company $ 749.99 and sent me a bill for $ 1.89. The bill probably cost you more in employee processing time and stamp duty than the $ 1.89 I paid you online and it certainly cost the environment a lot more. You are not the solution to this country’s healthcare issues, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. Inefficiency, carelessness and financial abuse even at the most basic level.
As you can imagine I am delighted to receive your letters informing me that my «care is [your] top priority» and requesting that I contribute to your «groundbreaking medical discoveries and […] exceptional care».
Please add my story to your fundraising letter to other patients!

Want to thank everyone at NY Presbyterian Hospital Downtown who helped my son this morning. From the EMT Chris who saw him struggle out of the car and went inside to get a wheelchair to the nurses and doctors in the Pediatric ER who took such good care of him. Everyone was so nice and professional.

I was at work on Wall Street and had a gallbladder attack. Went to the emergency room, got admitted and had excellent treatment. My gallbladder was infected so had to stay a few days on iv antibiotics. The hospital is top notch, very sterile and all about patient comfort. The food was even good! It’s also off the beaten path so it’s not as busy or chaotic as other large hospitals. It’s more boutique like. Definitely glad I got admitted there, very positive experience.

It’s a hospital. Hopefully you never have to go here, but if you do, I hope it’s for something elective, rather than an emergency.
I’ve only been here for the orthopedics department, and following tests. Depending on the time of day you go, orthopedics is hit or miss. One time I went during lunch and was in and our in half an hour. Another time they scheduled me for the end of the day, and I spent over an hour waiting for my appointment. So go earlier if you can!
I’ve also dealt with radiology on two separate occasions. Had an x-​ray and an MRI. X-​rays were quick and painless, and the MRI… well, it’s an MRI. The technician was incredibly friendly and tried to make it as comfortable as possible, which I appreciated.
Not much more to say (yet). I assume every department is different, but at least they use Weill Cornell for digital medical records so you get your results ASAP.

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST. It doesn’t even deserve this one star… I feel like I’m gonna have nightmares about this hospital. Every staff is just plain awful (except Elisabeth on the 5^th floor). They all need to learn to communicate with one another, not blame one another. and they need to learn to apologize… If I explained every ridiculous thing that happened, I would be writing for hours so I’ll stop here. But avoid this hospital. tell the EMT to take you to a different hospital

Worse hospital I’ve ever been to! I would give it zero stars if I could. All the OB/​GYN docs are poorly rated on sites like ratemds, except for one doctor. I chose to go to a different OB outside the hospital but had to come to the hospital for ultrasounds. Every time I come here I’m forced to wait 45 mins or longer to get an ultrasound.
When you call in to make an appointment, they take your info all over again ‘cus apparently each dept has different computer systems. I had to provide my name, DOB, contact info, insurance info, etc. every single time I call in ‘cus they don’t have my records on file from the dept I visited countless times before.
Most of the staff speak with a heavy accent and can’t even pronounce names properly when calling in patients. Listen closely or they may just give up and skip you over!
Once you sign in they call you in after 15 – 20 mins of waiting to do paperwork (this happens everytime you visit!). Afterwards, they make you wait again for another 20 – 30 mins for the ultrasound technician.
I’m only giving 1 star because some of the ultrasound technicians are nice but I would not recommend this place unless it’s your last resort! Stay away unless you like dealing with long waits and have low standards…

Fractured my ankle and had a good experience at the ER in the day time. I returned a week later to the ER at night and it seemed like everyone was just out out of it. The doctor would give me one answers and wouldn’t look at me. It was a very uncomfortable experience. I felt like I went there for no reason because he didn’t tell me anything about my pain.

By far my biggest gripe of the year! Having cobra health insurance is almost like having no insurance at all, and still required to pay a premium of $ 1800 a month! After an hr of unsuccessful haggling using my charm, then begging, we are still stuck w/​a bill for $ 2400 for a kidney stone! That’s more than what I paid for childbirth! And the kicker is, the EMS bill is $ 820 for 3 freaking block to be called at 5:30am! And we met the EMS in the ambulance. Goes to show you, US healthcare is at its worst, who says the healthcare system is losing money, certainly not from this disgruntled taxpayer paying the bill! Never again, NY PRESBYTERIAN HOSPITAL AND EMS!!!

What is the point of making an appointment with a doctor here when you’re almost for sure going to have to wait for 40 – 60 minutes for your appointment.
What a joke…

Delivered my baby at this hospital, DO NOT go to this hospital.
1. You will press the call button for a nurse forever and no one comes.
2. One of the night during my stay, they even had a farewell party in the hallway.
3. Refused to give some medical supplies. Only one for each patient, if I need more, my husband has to go to CVS to buy it.

this is the hospital where my doctor sends me for sonograms. Theyre pretty good with appointment times, but i tend to ask for the first appointment of the day so i cant contest if it gets back up later on in the day. But it does seem like they have a lot of sono techs who were all very prefessional. I got some very nice sono pics of my daughter and son here.
I delivered my daughter here and paid for the private room for two nights. since it was my first delivery theres nothing i can compare it to. But hearing stories from other moms, seems like this hospital is quite awesome. All the staffs were very nice, attentive and professional. Will be delivering my son here in June 2015.

The facilities are completely run down and under staffed. Not what one would expect from a healthcare facility.

I came here to the obgyn office to see Dr. Nagy. Wow, I was so pleasantly surprised with her! I read the reviews about her on
and decided to try her out. Needless to say, I am very pleased that everyone was right about her! She was very friendly, polite, attentive, and most importantly, responsive to my questions. Among a few other housekeeping items, I came in to change my pill. Unlike previous gynos I’ve had in the past, Dr. Nagy explored my pill options with me, went through the differences in hormone levels when comparing different pill brands, and even tried to find a generic in my pharmacy to save me money. I was very very happy with the way the visit went and have a feeling this is the start of a fabulous relationship.
The staff in the office were all super nice and very friendly as well. The facilities were very clean and well kept, and the waiting room was aesthetically very pleasing. All in all, I am a very happy camper!

Horrible. Went to get a small skin infection checked and the bill came out to $ 175 after insurance. The doctor met with me and then proceeded to go the whole effort of going on
to search up images of my skin infection, and then told me to get an OTC ointment. Very professional and effective.
And that costed me $ 175? I could’ve Googled myself. And it has not yet healed after 4 weeks. Great.

My wife and I had our baby here recently and have to let anyone looking for a wonderful caring hospital (particularly for maternity) know that this is a special place. The entire staff feels like family, from the doctors, nurses, to the orderlies, the food service, security, and even the front desk. You will be treated like a respected valued welcomed customer and temporary family member and not a number.
The care we received made this life event even more special. A huge thank you to Dr. Snyder whose bedside manner in the delivery room was masterful. Nurse Roxanne, who is not just an outstanding nurse, but our advocate before, during and after labor. Nurse Jackie, who gave us many helpful tips as new parents and who made our two nights after labor rejuvenating and went beyond the call of duty to make us feel so well cared for.
It’s rare to find this level of caring and professionalism anywhere nowadays. On the outside of the hospital there’s a sign that says «Amazing things are happening here.» Not false advertising. This is terrific hospital to give birth to your child; truly memorable in a very good way.
The in-​house OB/​GYN practice is also top notch. Special shout out to Dr. Szylvia Nagy and the other doctors and technicians in the Weill Cornell prenatal practice, which is on the first floor of the hospital.
We’d do it again the exact same way.
