No.8 is consistently good on all levels. the main upside here is the free grilled cheese, i love grilled cheese! also on a side note: the staff here is way better & respectful than any other spot in the area. ps: can i get your grilled cheese recipe??? ill be back soon :))

Great hip hop. Interesting crowd. Not chic. Don’t even bother unless you go upstairs.

If I can give this place zero stars, I would. I will also be filing charges against the bouncer and owner. First and foremost, I was personally invited to this place by a promoter and I explained to him that I would be bringing 4 other friends. He said«no doubt». I’ve been to this place once before and I was discriminated against by the same bouncer, a big tall black guy with dreads; Long story short, we arrived dressed to the occasion as we all know it is in the meatpacking district. I told the bouncer I was with a specific party and he ignored me and let a group of Caucasian women in despite the fact we arrived before them. He rudely put his hands in my face and told me that he isn’t going to let us in because we don’t «fit the crowd». Im sorry, but if I’m invited why are you denying my entrance? My guests and I were basically not able to go on because we are of Latino decent. I felt humiliated and embarrassed. We even told him we would get our own table of that was the case and he told us it goes by reservation? Yet we saw Caucasian men arrive with no reservation and granted entrance with a purchase of a bottle. When we asked again he said«it’s $ 1,500 you cant afford it» Please steer clear from here if you aren’t white basically.

Really cool night light spot! A bit pricey but wasn’t pricey in the city these days.

Incredibly rude and disrespectful establishment. There are so many other great bars and clubs in the city and this place acts like they are the only hot shit in town. My friend and I had were part of a large group that had a table upstairs, jerk of a bouncer let my male friend through, I am next and right behind him but tells me to wait! I am trying to explain I am with my friend he just let through as well as the large party upstairs, he ignores anything I have to say and to top it all off, lets a bunch of other guys/girls through.

Most people that hate it can’t get inside… Went last night(among other places), danced my pants off shamelessly and had a blast w my buddies They didn’t let my very attractive male friends in unless they wanted to buy a bottle bcos it was busy(even though we knew ppl there) so the boys chilled @ PHD(before we all popped into electric room & griffin) while us girls went in 8 and partied for a bit. No crying and whining, bitching or waiting in the doormans face. It’s a New Yorkers kind of place. If you need a large group to make you feel comfortable, or will be offended if someone(s) in your party doesn’t get in, you should probably go somewhere else or shell out the big bucks for a table. If you go w guys, go a bit earlier and you can skip the 1am ‘buy a bottle’ drama. Like I said before, it’s awesome in there and the music is great!!! … If you get inside

Looooooooooved this place!!! If you are going always ask to go to the second floor, the music downstairs is towards the top 40/hip hop scene but if you go upstairs… OLDIES! Hip hop pop and dance from the 90’s! Went on a Friday night for my birthday and the place was packed out by the bar but the 6 of us got some space on the elevated area by the dj. Danced the night away and sang along to TLC, ace of base, journey, coolio and many many more. This is not your average nose in the air place where everyone just spaces … Oh no! This is a good Time with friends till the morning sun :) Will be back!

Amazing drinks by Michael. Got to try grilled cheese and fried oreos, which were both fantastic! Thanks for a great night out! My friend also misplaced her debit card here and we were able to get it back the next day with no problem.

The bouncers are goons, the drinks are exorbitant(and not that great) and the crowd is douchey with a sprinkling of predatory, creepy men. I guess that’s the meat packing district for you. Never again.

This was one of the most disappointing night life experiences I had since coming to NYC. We were coming here for one of their events and had to wait over an hour to be told we can’t come inside. All of us had confirmed rsvp and an email to show them, but none of the bouncers even looked at it. It was absolute chaos. For a high scale club, you would think they want the outside to look just as classed up too. However they just let dozens of people stand in a mob in the pouring rain. The whole thing was just so inefficient and unorganized. Also the only people that got in were basically just screaming names of people they knew. So if you want to be ignored and meet rude people, then come here. However there are definitely much better and more organized upscale places you can spend your money on!

Was confirmed for entry. They made up some b. s even when I was early. Swarms of people denied entry even with confirmation. Better places to spend your time… change your name to No. Way. 1st review on Unilocal because this place=meh and uses promoters to up ratings.

I have reviewed 105 venues; 93 of my reviews are 4’s and 5’s and until this place, I have never given a 1(but I still visited on 4 separate occasions before reviewing because why jump to conclusions right?). After having encountered numerous problems at No. 8, I feel obligated to warn people away from throwing away their night by coming here. I’ve been here 4 times now and by 4 times, I mean that I’ve stood idly by, as I watched large amounts of people turned away from the line, with their RSVP confirmations from No. 8 itself in hand, as they were told that they could not come inside. The first time I went, there was a VIP line and there was a regular line. They kicked EVERYONE off the regular line before even letting a single person in and told us to come back in an hour, at which point they would honor our reservations to attend. A few of us came back an hour later and we were told that they were still not letting us in and to wait another hour, so naturally we left to find something else to do, instead of returning. The second time I came here, I accidentally came really early and luckily the person on shift at the door had no idea what was going on yet, so he just let me walk in. This was the only time I was allowed inside. The next time I came, I again had a reservation and was told that I could not come inside, as well as my friend. Tonight, my girlfriend and I were the first two people to get to No. 8 for an event that No. 8 invited us to. We reserved with No. 8, and each received e-mails from a representative of No. 8 saying that we were confirmed for attendance and each could bring one guest. I politely asked the bouncer at the door which side we should wait in line on and he would not answer my question. We went to the right side and some people lined up behind us, then some others got on the left side and we decided to just line up behind them because one was a friend of ours. We watched them turn way at least 30 people, a bunch of whom we personally knew to have reservations. They then ushered in people that they had clear personal ties to without bothering to check the list and then proceeded to tell the entire line that we could only go inside if we were buying bottle service. Things to remember: 1. If they invite you to their establishment with the promise of free entry, they will likely not honor your reservation. 2. If you like to dance, this is not your type of place. It’s more of a sit down chat and drink sort of venue. 3. They will likely force you to purchase a bottle for entry. 4. Even with a confirmation from them personally, they will often tell you that you are not confirmed for entry and will not allow you to show your phone to show your confirmation. 5. They have board games upstairs! That’s actually really cool. My friends and I played the one time we somehow got in.

Good times, good class of ppl… I mean it is open bar so maybe my vision is a little skewered, but I usually only frequent here for events so it’s always good. Avoid the b&t crowd on the weekends and this place is as good as gold in 1849! Sexy ladies, good drinks and the bouncers aren’t assholes#win

This place was a blast on a Weds night. Good thing they had red bull which I mixed with my vodka, so I could stay awake cuz it was poppin till 4am. In order to get in, you need to know someone, if not its gonna be a tough door. The place is not large, its pretty small with a beautiful crowd. We had a table near the back with a bottle of champagne and Belvedere. Met a guy who claimed to have won an oscar but I don’t believe him. Bathrooms are at the back behind the bar, good thing they are clean. They are unixsex. I def enjoyed this place!

Came here for a private event the other night for the first time. Massive bar, nice décor, ambient lighting, rotating chandeliers, etc. Not as much room as I anticipated but the atmosphere was still pretty nice and vibrant.

I’ve been going to No.8 frequently for the last year and a half. Great environment, the music is always fantastic and I have always met very interesting people of all ages and colors. If you’re looking for diversity and an eclectic crowd, then this your spot. It is true that the dress code requires more attention than a basic top and jeans. But that is the fun in it, right? The rooms are decorated to fit a mood and I believe you have to fit the part and dress nicely. It’s only just. If you do acquire a table, the best part is the fresh watermelon juice. I happen to know it is freshly juiced every day before they open. I asked :) That beats the ordinary orange and cranberry juice options that have become tired and full of unnecessary sugar. Last thing: THEGRILLEDCHEESE sandwiches that begin to circulate the room around 2 a.m. They’re delicious and well, they’re grilled cheese. What’s to hate?

Reviewing is a very subjective matter. I’m sure it’s especially true when you are reviewing bars/clubs. I would have given No.8 a five star if I was reviewing it a while back. Let’s start from the things I like about it: the decoration is classy, although the palm trees and gigantic chandelier seem a bit cliché, I still like all aspects about it; the drinks are fine, instead of just bringing regular orange juice and cranberry juice to the table, they also have watermelon juice, I like that particularly; the music is a good mix of EDM, top40 and even some retro, and it’s not as loud as Marquee, which is great; the crowd is very trendy and mature, I also like that aspect. Who doesn’t enjoy being surrounded by beautiful people? Just like going to any other great clubs in Chelsea, you have to dress up for it. Put on your pretty dresses and high heels. And this is the reason I can’t give it a five star — my girlfriend didn’t get in because she didn’t wear high heels… welp, I have mixed feelings about this because as much as I enjoy dressing up and looking tall, I also feel tired of it, especially if it’s just for going out but not any special occasions. But again, it’s a very subjective matter. I’d recommend it if you haven’t been, it’s definitely one of the best clubs in the city in my opinion.

What an unexpected treat! No.8 is pretty fuckin awesome, from start to finish. Came with a DJ friend who is friends with the DJ that was playing that night(say that five times fast). We were escorted up the stairs to the DJ booth and private area in the loft above the club(amazing!!). So spacious, good drinks, and an awesome view overlooking the whole lounge/club area. When the set was over, I thought the night was too, but no! The whole party(? group? patrons? whatever, everyone) moved up the staircase in the back of the bar to this wild library upstairs, where the night continued! It was the afterparty, AT the party. Never seen anything like it. So cool! Huge fan of No.8 and would totally come back!

Jury is out on this one . Popped in for a quick drink and really couldn’t work out this place . Its small and cosy but lacks atmosphere. Clubs have become lounges and lounges have become pretentious. Chandelier is amazing when you walk in but im really not sure about those couches. The rest of the décor feels quite 80s but not in a horrible way … Wouldn’t rush back .but not awful in any way.
