I have been to Norma’s a few times since 2006 and this is my worst experience. Food was excellent as usual but service was almost none. And they automatically add 20% tip to the bill!

Exactly what you expect from a high-end hotel’s attempt at brunch with a fun personality: pricey, pretty adventurous, alright execution. I had the Artichoked Benedict: PROS: –perfectly done eggs –nice porcini and truffle aroma –generous amounts of artichoke, perfectly cooked CONS: –undercooked potatoes –no english muffins?(although trading in muffins for two artichoke hearts is a win to me) –no browning(on anything: artichokes and potatoes were both blonde) My friend had the ring of chunky fruit and it looked amazing — I’d recommend it. Overall, the Artichoked Benedict was pretty solid, although the undercooked potatoes(almost a little crunchy on the inside) rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe I got unlucky. NORMA’s is for when you want to take someone somewhere special for brunch but you want decent food with a whiff of snobbery. The food isn’t quite as elevated as the décor, service, or price but is still decent. You could find a brunch place that’s cheaper, with better food, but it wouldn’t feel quite as classy.

A good start to our NYC trip; however, overpriced for what they serve. Service is superb! Kudos to all the wait staff. All food entrées are filling, good presentation, and delicious. They’re located inside Le Parker Meridian Hotel… I guess that’s why they over charge for their meals.

DIVINE! We had German pancakes, kid pancakes, traditional eggs Benedict! We did not have reservations but were sat within 10 minutes! Love the complimentary smoothie shots and coffee was nice and strong! Service excellent! Will definitely return!

Easily the most expensive breakfast of my life thus far but worth every penny. BEWARE: You will likely be touching elbows with diners all around you. It’s a tight space, but that’s New York for ya. Ordered: The eggs(added swiss cheese on top) & sausage breakfast. Portions were HUGE but I couldn’t stop eating. It was delicious. Skip ordering any toast with your meal — it’s expensive and not that great. The portions with your meal are so large that you literally don’t need anything else!

crowded and seats are tight against each other. I went for the stuffed French toast, which was not half bad, I’d recommend sharing between two, it was rather big and filling. I don’t taste as much cheesecake as orange marmalade, I don’t dislike it, it cut through the sweetness abit.

Wow what a disappointment. Several friends had recommended and highly rated on most sites. We arrived on Saturday morning with reservation and had to wait about 15 mins after reservation for table. Then sat and sat and sat… Finally waiter brought coffee. After awhile gave up on waiter and grabbed a bus boy for water. After waiting some more waiter came and took order. The Norma’s eggs Benedict. We ordered hollandaise on side. When the meal finally arrived, you guessed it, hollandaise on and whole meal cold, especially the asparagus-refrigerator cold. Waiter never came back around to see how meal was, so no opportunity to send back. I’ll give it another try, but right now don’t see why it has been reviewed the way it has.

I met with my best friend here for brunch, she’s been here a few times and she recommends this place for a meet-up, we had a reservation at 12:30pm on Sunday, we knew we were going to be 15 mins late so we tried calling the restaurant to move the time, but after several attempts, no one could be reached. I got there, waited in line to speak to the hostess who was having an argument with a guest, or more like the guest was very demanding and asking for the food & beverage manager, she was told that the hostess was in charge while that manager was out of the hotel until later the afternoon. The argument lasted for 10 mins, very unprofessional, everyone in line was confused. When the hostess got me, she greeted me with a cold smile, I apologized for being late and explained my situation, she totally ignored me without even looking up from her ipad screen and told to sit down for my name. It took them awhile to find our reservation. My friend came and had to ask 3 times before we could sit down again, it was almost 1:30 pm. Poor attitude let alone the wait, if they could have been nicer this would have been a 4-star. But they probably don’t care. We sat down and ordered hot coffee, OJ, I stared at the two shot glasses of berry smoothie that seemed to be sitting there before we got seated, I was hesitant to drink it. NEVER put food on my table before I sit down. The menu is full of miracles though, even though the server came 15 mins after we asked for our coffee several times, we ordered the Crunchy French Toasts and the Eggwhite & Shrimp Frittata, the French Toasts were some of the best I’ve had in NYC, crunchy on the outside, creamy and sweet on the inside, I could eat it without any syrup. It was a little too sweet but still not bad. The Frittata was ok, the egg white was great but the shrimp was bland and the potatoes on the bottom were tasteless, almost like steamed potatoes soaked in oil for 10 mins. The OJ was freshly squeezed and my friend’s grape juice was not bad, we couldn’t finish the dishes, didn’t touch the bread on the house — it came together with our meal. We kept looking for a server but no one was around to even get me my check. An unpleasant $ 110 spent on lunch.

Norma’s is by far one of my favorite places to hit for brunch while I’m in town. The food is always spot on & never disappoints. The PROS: Fantastic Food Selection! Anyone can find something they enjoy… from omelets to crepes to pancakes, donuts, fruits, healthy or non healthy. and more importantly, it tastes delicious! I ordered the make your own omelet on my last visit although I would have well preferred to get the banana pancakes! The server was friendly, detailed oriented and seemed genuinely happy to serve us. We were happy to tip well. I enjoy at the start of the meal you can a free taste or whatever smoothie of the day they are serving. The CONS: So…why did I only give 3 stars? I have one big gripe with restaurants — when you make a reservation and then have to wait for your table. I’m not talking about 5 or 10 minutes, or when the customer shows up early/late for the reservation — I’m talking when you wait 20 – 30 mins or more for your table. My last visit to Norma’s — I made at 1245 reservation for a party of 2. You have to put a credit card down to hold the reservation — and I can appreciate that — its obviously busy place and they don’t want people to flake out. But, having to do all that,(and being faced with a charge if you cancel the rez within 24 hours OR don’t show up) you would presume not having to wait a long time to sit. We arrived at 1245 on the nose. But there was a line to get to greeter/ladies who handles reservations… and several rude people cutting up in front trying to ask questions. After 5 minutes of being in line, was told to stand off to side — would be seated shortly. That was at 1:20pm. I truly understand the nature of guests/cook times, etc can hold things up but 35 mins(when there is an hour wait without a reservation) seems like a management issue. And problematic if you are trying to schedule a day. Because Norma’s is in a hotel(and in NYC), of course the prices are higher. But, incredibly high. Our two omelet brunch with side of bacon and two coffees was over $ 75 without the tip.

It’s all about the $ 100 Omelette here that comes with rock shrimp and caviar. We ordered it and it was really good. Well worth it if you have the budget or your sharing for a special occasion. The down side– alcoholic drinks were limited and I ordered the Bloody Mary that was so watered down and tasted like earth. Besides your typical mimosa– they have only whites by the glass. It would be nice if they had some fun cocktails and better wine. The food was ok, I think you should order items you would never eat usually as I think that’s Norma’s sweet spot.

My boyfriend and I ordered their Breakfast Quesadilla & Crunchy French Toast and both were 5⁄5 for me! The quesadilla has eggs, bacon, and guacamole that just works magically with one another. It definitely hit the spot after a 6 hour plane ride from LA. The french toast was good. Very crispy and crunchy on the outside because of the cereal but the bread it self was soft. It comes w a side of caramal sauce and syrup but the french toast is in itself sweet so the extra sauces are not necessary. Both dishes were excellent. Some things I didn’t like: 1) Expensive — Each dish was like $ 30… The restaurant itself is inside the Le Parker Meridien Hotel so probably the reason for the ridiculous expensive price. 2) Service was slow. Service was good but very slow. Not for people on the run.

I’m a little baffled by how much money I spent at Norma’s versus the quality of my experience there. I was going to rate them a 3, but according to Unilocal a 3 means«A-OK,» and I’m really feeling a «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» So Unilocal brought you down, Norma’s, because I thought a 3 wasn’t all that hot to begin with. And to be clear, though I mentioned money at the outset, it’s not that I mind spending it(my poor bank account weeps at how much I like spending it), it’s that when I spend it I want to have spent it on something worthwhile. Norma’s, alas, was not that even a little bit. First off, I made a reservation this morning; they require a credit card, fine, annoying, but fine; I get to the confirmation page, and they make a veiled threat(or maybe they just informed me but I watched Game of Thrones last night, so my mind is full of intrigue and schemes) against me: if I was to cancel the reservation within two hours of my arrival time, I would be charged $ 40PERPERSON. What? That seems extreme. They would have charged me EIGHTYDOLLARS for not showing up. Maybe that’s just me, but I was pretty put off by that already(although I did still make the reservation, I did make a mental note dinging Norma’s before I even got there). Second, décor: Norma’s needs new décor. Seats are uncomfortable, the whole place just seems kind of run down, especially compared with the grandeur of the lobby of Le Parker Meridien. I have to tell you, I don’t even usually notice décor; it’s the food and the service that are more my thing, so the fact that I’m even writing this paragraph means the place really needs an update. Thirdly, service: This is not good. The service was not good! And I want to tell you, dear reader, that good service in my book makes up for worlds of trouble in restaurants. I will go back to restaurants where the food is meh but the service is great; I will not do the reverse of that. The service at Norma’s isn’t bad(they took our orders, they brought the food, they brought the check) but it is extremely mediocre. To the point that I hope a manager slogs through reading this to see and correct this. No one checked on us, the food took more than a while to come out(it was breakfast food!), no one refilled drinks. I mean… why exactly am I at Norma’s again? I definitely thought service would be top notch. Boy was I disappointed. Fourthly and finally, the food. Here is an itemized list of what we got; the bill was $ 88 and change before tip: Eggs Benedict with lox instead of Canadian bacon(they call it Eggs Upstream; it came with a few measly little potatos and some green filler leaves); lemon griddle cakes, one orange juice, two coffees. Plus I tipped 20% for their lousy service! I’m not super mad; I’m actually more amused than anything else; I really should have known better, I think. I will in the future: If I’m spending $ 30 on eggs benedict, that restaurant is going to have 3 Michelin stars. Or at least 5 Unilocal stars(they’re comparable, right?). And someone is going to refill my coffee. But I want you to heed my warnings of experience, friends: there are better ways to spend $ 100+, and better eggs benedict to be had in the city that never sleeps. Search on, because Norma’s is not your breakfast destination.

Norma’s gets a lot of hype in midtown. It has an extremely high trend factor and I think the reason it gets the press it does is that there is a better than even chance of seeing a celeb stuffing sausages in their mouth, if you get my drift heh heh. Getting right to it, the portions are huge. I mean enormous mounds of flour, sugar, whipped cream, etc. Probably produce their own gravitational well if they were circling the breakfast sun in outer space. Frankly, just a bit intimidating. But come on friends of Larry. Seriously, there is no friggin way in the world that a stack of cakes are worth $ 31.00 unless you could dig down through them and find a naked syrup covered Beyoncé at the bottom. THIRTYONEDOLLARS. AREYOUHIGH? Coffee in a stainless steel French press was SEVEN bucks a person. You even have to order toast separately. Jeez. For the hundred bucks I spent here for two, I could have easily had six meals in the real world. Plus, there was very little besides size that earned cudos. I mean maybe if they killed a lobster at the table for the crepes or something, the theatrics might be worth it, but in no uncertain fashion does this place deserve slobbering over. If you want huge portions, go to Golden Corral. Oh, and plan on meeting your neighbor. As a matter of fact, be ready to bear their children as that’s how close you are seated. I guess the food was OK, but I cannot give this place high marks because of the prices. Completely and utterly unjustified. Go to Lindy’s around the corner. Oh wait, don’t. That place is a ptomaine filled hole. Just to be fair, they have a duck confit hash that was tasty and creative. The only thing on the menu that was worthy of positive note. Find someplace else. Norma’s is the place to impress someone(probably an out-of-town guest) with an over-the-top brunch. PROS: 1/Insanely, overwhelming brunch. We ordered the Scrambled Eggs and Bacon Breakfast Quesadilla(a delicious, overstuffed affair as large as your face) and the Donut Even Go There French Toast(a 4″ tall cube, stuffed with cheesecake and orange marmalade, crusted with crunchy coconut flakes, topped with an orange drizzle and melting vanilla ice cream). When we received our plates, we literally could not speak. One of us started giggling, not sure how to attack our plates. 2/Service and atmosphere. While it’s a nice place, it’s by no means dressy or formal. Our waiter was pleasant without being stiff and checked in regularly to fill our water glasses. In addition, no one ever rushed us to order or leave after we paid the check, which was very kind. 3/Quick food: We didn’t check how long it took our food to come out, but we were surprised when it did arrive. Not once did we think, where’s our food? 4/Bonus: Free tasty orange & pineapple smoothie shot upon arrival. CONS: 1/A little too pricey for a Manhattan brunch unless it’s a special occasion.(We went for the day after Valentine’s day, a Sunday.) 2/Some wait time. We made an 11am reservation, but still had to wait 15 – 20 minutes. The woman who let us know they were just clearing tables was very nice. 3/The tables were close, but not so close that I felt my personal space was being invaded upon. If you like brunch, go. You won’t regret it. Order the Donut Even Go There. You’ll die happy.

I ordered the chocolate decadent french toast… ohhhhh myyyyyy i was in chocolate COMA for almost an hr… i fell in love with the plating… very choclatie. very appetizing… between every 2 slices, they had strawberries to balance but chocolate was a clear winner that morning :) My wife really enjoyed the egg white omlette with lobster and asparagus, everything well seasoned. very clean plate(omlette with greens and potatoes)

This is the place you go to if you have out-of-towners visiting and staying up near Central Park South — who are too overwhelmed to venture out in the morning for brunch. Accordingly, since it’s found in the heart of hotel alley and situated within Le Parker Meridien, the crowd is full of well-to-do tourists and their children. Food is great, and a wide selection that hits sweet, savory and everything in-between. Since the menu is broad, you should ask your server what they would recommend based on how your taste buds are feeling in the moment. I enjoyed the space because it managed to pull off a comfortable diner vibe while simultaneously exhibiting a modern/contemporary décor and New York ambiance. There are no windows though, so don’t expect a view. Staff is friendly and service impeccable.

The service was great and the people were very friendly. However, I either ordered the wrong entrée(which was marked as a Norma’s recommendation) as did the others in my party, or it’s just not worth it unless your expensing the meal.(My mediocre review isn’t itself guided by the price, but if you’re going to have an above-average price point, I think it’s fair to expect an above-average experience.) Even the coffee was just OK. Again, the service was great…

Came to Norma’s on Valentine’s day weekend trying to impress my ex girlfriend hoping I could provide a romantic weekend and Norma’s did not help. When I first arrived I was told the wait would be a little over an hour, totally understand for a supposedly great brunch hot spot in the city. The wait ended up being at least double the original wait time. The service was mediocre and honestly considering the price the food was sub-par. We weren’t even checked on to make sure everything was alright, which it was not. The omelet was undercooked. When we tried to leave the dreaded place it still took a while for the bill. Honestly the only good thing about Norma’s would be the juice… Definitely not returning!

Came here for Sunday Brunch last weekend. And I will say that the reason for 4 stars is for the food, and nothing else. Was a little confused as there are no signs for Norma’s, but we figured it out. We had a reservation, and was told to have a seat and they would come get us when the table was ready. Oddly they texted, which is okay. But tell me you will text me if you are going to text me. Good thing I checked my phone! Once seated, we sat for at least 5 minutes before a waiter appeared, and he dashed off as quickly as he appeared. I think they were understaffed, but when you are talking to a table, at least have the wits about you to actually talk to the table, and not turn around with your back to the table and keep talking. We finally got our food. And honestly, it was the best hollandaise sauce that I have ever had at a restaurant. For that alone I will give 4 stars, it was awesome. The rest of the experience? Meh.

NOTE: I visited this establishment in 2006. This review was copied from a travel site I previously blogged for.(Although I have been back to Norma’s several times and it’s ALWAYS good) Le Parker Meridien is a sophisticated hotel, offering modern New York ambience and décor and Norma’s, the in-house brunch restaurant, mirrors that. Expect to pay, but it’s a nice treat. I had eggs, potatoes, sourdough toast with delectable jellies, and a side of sausage. Add a fresh-squeezed(squoze?)orange juice, pay $ 37 and you’ve got my Norma’s experience. The menu almost glorifies breakfast, with items such as mango-papaya brown butter cinnamon crepes, foie gras brioche French toast, $ 4 a pot french press coffee, and a shrimp, tomato and egg white frittata. My BFF dreams about the Nutella crepes. Read the reviews for yourself, don’t just take my word for it.

I have to say that my experience was truly amazing. The service here was A+ first off and the vibe oozes New York jazz and sophistication. I loved the complimentary fruit smoothie shots they give out. It was very tasty and adds a nice touch. I ordered the upstream eggs Benedict and it was amazing! I did not expect it to be on top of two mini thin pancakes as opposed to the usual English muffin. The hollandaise sauce on top and the dollop of sour cream were so creamy and superb! Every dish that would come out looked more and more amazing. The people around me could be heard commenting on how good the food was. I would highly recommend it to anyone! *** by the way, the Hollandaise sauce is the best I have ever had anywhere

The breakfast here, while extremely overpriced, is absolutely amazing. We ordered the nutella jacks and the egg white fritata. In my opinion, the fritata was priced correctly. It’s a great place to sit and chat with the person/people you like. Décor is modern and comfortable, lax but kinda fancy. Service is impeccable. Food was good. Food for price was so so. Nothing tastes bad. Not sure if I would go back bc wasn’t mind blowing for price. I just thought my foie gras Brioche was a little disappointing. For $ 45 it was HUGE and big pieces of foie gras, but it was a bit too saucy for me. I would have like it to be crispy/soft and not soaked and soggy. I would consider going back for their potato pancake. It was bomb. The pancakes were good. And the carrot spice sour cream was delicious too. Fresh squeeze oj was good too.

Went because we were told it was the place in NYC for brunch. Started OK, but then had to wait over an hour after ordering to get our food — supposedly because one of our entrees was taking longer than expected. When the meal finally came, my plate was cool and had obviously been sitting under a(ineffective) heat lamp for too long. Because of the long wait, we did not have time to get another meal, so I noted it to the server and expected they would make it right. When the bill came… it was full charge with no adjustment. I don’t like to make a big deal out of these things and ruin the event, so I took the bill, excused myself from our table, and I had a few words with the manager. They did take the charge off for the bill, but I expected much better. The food we did get was OK — but honestly overpriced and not worth it. Sorry Norma — we will not be coming back.

Came here last weekend for Sunday brunch. We made reservations for 11am but when we arrived and checked in right before 11am we still had to wait a good 20 minutes or so before we were seated. The restaurant was a lot smaller than I imagined and was also completely packed. I assumed many of the guests must be staying at the Le Meridian where the restaurant was in. After we were seated our waiter quickly came by to take our drink orders. We were given complimentary fruit smoothie shots and asked if we wanted some fresh squeezed orange juice. We both said yes and my boyfriend also ordered a latte. The orange juice came with free refills(well I hope so it was $ 9) and was very delicious and refreshing. We ordered the caramel crunch French toast and the breakfast quesadilla by recommendation of our waiter. The crunch French toast was very good and filling. I tried some of my boyfriend’s breakfast quesadilla and it was pretty good but thought it could be more flavorful. Overall, the service was excellent and the food was pretty good but I thought it was still a bit pricey for brunch food. The orange juice, latte and two brunch plates turned out to be a little over $ 100 after tip and tax.

Came to this place for meeting my friend from college as my colleague has suggested. Conveniently located inside Le Parker Meridien, Norma’s has presented me a unique formal feeling; though ambience was a bit noisy. Place was filled with people at brunch time so service was extremely slow — we actually had to call on our waiter many times before food or even bill was delivered to us, a bit disappointed here. In terms of food quality, it did not let us down. Got the granola yogurt and mushroom omelette and portions were huge(neither my friend nor me had finished our food). Food was at five star level, however service was slow — deduct 1.5 star here, so a 3.5÷5.

Holy heavenly food coma. This is not the place to come if you are avoiding carbs, sugar, or large portions but is totally the place to come if you want a complimentary smoothie shot, excellent service and a great choice of breakfast options. My sister and I came here for a mid morning brunch and were floored. Centered in the fabulous le parker meridian between 56th and 57th this dining treat is a great introduction to life uptown. The crowd was upscale but plenty diverse. We were greeted with coffee water and a hearty bread basket. For our order we decided to split pancakes with a meat fest of eggs, bacon and sausage. Holy heart attack that spread was something serious. There was no way to finish it all but we diwfontely fee we got our money’s worth for A NYC Sunday brunch And highly recommend it! YUM

There is no doubt that Norma’s is a very pricey brunch spot(even for NYC standard), but it’s a fancy place to hit up for a special occasion(birthday, anniversary, etc.). They serve a range of sweet and savory brunch items that are extremely high in calories. Take, for example, the signature Waz-Za($ 31). It’s a massive waffle topped with sugary strawberries and bananas inside and outside, with crackly brulee on top. It’s excruciatingly sweet, and almost impossible to finish by yourself first thing in the morning unless you have a massive sweet craving. I have also gotten the healthier Egg White Frittata of Shrimp($ 35) with oven-roasted roma tomato and spinach. The pieces of shrimp on the frittata are decently plump and juicy, but would I ever pay $ 35 for this again? Never. The Norma’s Eggs Benedict($ 32), made with buttermilk pancake and topped with Canadian bacon and grilled asparagus, as well as Flat-As-A-Pancake Crabcake($ 33), are other favorites, but once again I would never pay over $ 30 for these entrees that aren’t as special as something that cost $ 15 at other brunch spots. If you thought those above items are expensive… wait until you hear about the Zillion Dollar Lobster Frittata. It is topped with regular 1oz Sevruga Caviar for $ 100, or super size 10oz caviar for…$ 1000. I wonder if anyone has EVER gotten this. The service is fantastic and they also give you a shot of delicious smoothies at the beginning of the meal, but I’d advise that you spend your money elsewhere.

You don’t know what real good orange juice is until you try Norma’s. Yup, I said it. My best friend invited me to Norma’s for brunch over the holiday weekend. I was actually pretty surprised to see how small the establishment was inside of the beautiful Le Parker Meridien Hotel. I was greeted immediately by the friendly staff at the podium, where I checked-in and was seated shortly after our reservation time. I do agree that spacing is a little cramped but it was not at all uncomfortable to me. Our server immediately gave us menus and sample shots of their smoothie of the day which was the guava-banana. It was delicious and a great start to our girly brunch date. The complimentary Continental Bread basket was alright, it comes with blueberry jam, apricot jam, and butter. I would not eat too much of it, you have big portions coming! My best friend and I shared the Waz-Za and Upstream Eggs Benedict. Waz-Za is their special fruit-stuffed waffle. Topped with charred banana slices, berry-based jam, and blueberries. Fruits are infused in the waffle itself so there is fruitiness in every bite! I was so impressed with how fluffy it was. It was definitely on the heavenly level of fluffiness! The dish itself is more on the sweet side so no need for the maple syrup that comes with it. SOGOOD! Upstream Eggs Benedict was their take on the traditional eggs benedict. Instead of the English muffin, it was a pancake that held the poached eggs. Poached eggs were perfectly cooked to my liking and topped with black cavier. The egg white part had the perfect solid texture while the golden yellow yolk was oozing out so beautifully. Smoked salmon slices are served on the side and they are extra smokey, that’s just freakin’ amazing! My only critique, if any, the hollandaise sauce is a bit too creamy and thick for my taste. As an eggs benedict lover, I congratulate Norma’s for earning a top spot on my favorites list! Well done! Norma’s Orange Juice. Best orange juice I have ever had! It was so fresh and it tasted a lot more tangy than others, which was a major plus to me. There is unlimited refills so I personally think $ 9.00 is nothing for a great cup of orange juice! I am ashamed of myself for only having two full cups! I will surely have more cups next time! Overall, I had a very enjoyable brunch at Norma’s. Yes, it is extremely pricey and extremely difficult to cope with their wait times but Norma’s is totally worth it for the classy brunch experience or to try even once.
