Pizza is great and one if the best on the UES. Only downside is the price, which can seem quite expensive for a pizza. Very good local option that should be tried out.

Pizza is really delicious– I’m a big fan of white pizzas since tomatoes are not my thing, so I appreciated the section dedicated to biancas! Make sure you get the truffle oil on everything /anything. The one thing I will say is you’re seriously paying up for this pizza. Granted everything tasted fresh and authentic, however $ 17 for a personal pie is steep. I went with my boyfriend and we were each able to finish our personal pies(14″ I believe) but he got an appetizer and I got wine so it ended up being pricy. don’t come expecting a cheap casual pizza dinner unless you’re getting a really basic pie. I will say the space is romantic/rustic in a sense, UES has outdoor seating which is nice but we decided to go inside at the time since it was getting a little cold. I appreciate the sink outside of the restroom too– most of the time I’m just going to the restroom to wash my hands. The service was less than memorable. Wine selection was decent. They have a full bar. Will be back again.

Not sure what they did with their pepperoni, but it tastes like moth balls. When we’d been here before(last summer), the pepperoni was delish. So not sure what they’ve done, but whatever it is didn’t work for me this time around. Still, they’re other pizzas as pretty flavorful(I would prefer a thinner crust, theirs is a bit too chewy) and the ambiance and outdoor seating is relaxing and charming. Love their sangria.

If I could give 2−½ stars, I would. But I have to go lower rather than higher so it’s two stars. I love both classic NY slice pizza parlors and charred, artisanal pizzas cooked in blazing-hot coal or wood-fired ovens. In the latter category this place is really just so-so and the run-of-the-mill ingredients don’t warrant the high prices. Bottom line: I’ll go for a far less expensive regular slice over Numero 28 or make the short trip to a much better artisanal pizza place. In the suburbs this might be a go-to, but in the City it’s one of those ‘tweener restaurants that just won’t get my business.

the pizza is excellent in this place !! It is the first time I tried this kind of pizza in Manhattan. the place is nice, the waiters are friendly and they have advised me to take a medium pizza dividing it into two different types of flavor ! I recommend it

We ordered a San Daniele pizza(35 dollars for that) and a wrong pizza came(tomato sauce and mozzarella) instead. We called them and the guy came back in a few minutes to pick up the wrong one. We called back asking for the pizza a hour after that and the rude attender said that«the chef» said he will need time or they can return!!! Thanks for say that after more than one hour waiting… Would it take 2 hours to make the right one?! Afffffffff horrible experience!!!

If you want a great pizza visit this place, don’t expect a great service though: ordered 2 glasses of wine, they forgot to bring them, busy place so not very easy to catch a server, after we did took another 5 mins and they brought us 1 glass instead of 2. Again after trying to catch a server and finding one, 5 mins later we got our second glass(and that’s a table of 2). Guess what, on the check they charge us for 3 glasses. Service aside the food is great, but it’s on the expensive side, hence 3stars since service is unacceptable for a place charging $ 37 for a medium pizza.

Food: Pizza and fried calamari. Both were tasty: the pizza was in particular delicious and reasonably priced. It’s fresh and chewy. Fried calamari is fresh too, and is of good portion, but maybe too greasy after eating a few pieces. Service was super attentive and friendly. I went during late afternoon, so I can’t speak for what service is like during busy times. Overall very good experience and will be back.

One of the best authentic Italian pizza place in Manhattan. I go there often and pizza is always delicious. Reginella is just amazing. Also the service is professional and nice. I strongly recommend this place!

I would give 0 stars if I could. I order through online via Unilocal at 7:20pm and it said that I would get my delivery 30 – 40 min. After 1 hour I tried calling the place and they said it is out for delivery, I called again after 30 min(1 hour&30min) and they didn’t know who I was. If the place is busy I don’t mind waiting 45 min, but 2 hours later and still nothing… I mean common. This is THEWORST place I have ever dealt with. I would NEVER try to order from them again. Long story short it’s 3 hours later and I never received anything. They are def going to lose the little business they have left! I will also write a review on trip advisor as well!!!

We had a great time in this place. The risotto ai frutti di mare was out of this world. My boyfriend had spaghetti alla Carbonara and it’s hard to admit, but it was better than the one I make :) and the presentation was very nice! We had also a cinnamon drink which was delicious.

I would give 6 stars if I could. Food is super good: their pizza is amazing — I always opt for the classic reginella(margherita with buffala mozzarella) and it tastes like authentic Italian pizza. The truffle oil one is good as well. Their tiramisu is the best I’ve ever had! Chocolate cake not so great but huge. Nutella mousse is basically melted nutella nom(yes I tried three desserts in one sitting). But what is really astonishing is the quality of service we received. It was my bf’s birthday and I gave our awesome server(blonde girl) the candles. They were so big that she had to bring two tiramisus so they could fit(which was amazing — my stomach is not going to lie ;-)). Guess what — BOTH desserts were on the house! So thoughtful of them. Notes: — Unlike what their website states, they DOACCEPT credit cards. — Went both times during the week and after rush hour, so I can’t vouch for the quality on weekends. I will def become a Numero 28 regular! Ciao

Who doesn’t love a great slice? Numero 28 on the Upper East Side will meet any set expectation. Whether you’re dining here for the food or the trendy culture, you’re bound to have an overall great experience. Why have no other reviews mentioned this place is ‘Bring your own Wine’? My friends and I had a reservation for 5 at 8:15PM on a Friday evening. This was my first time dining at this restaurant and I genuinely did not realize it was such a hot spot. Unfortunately, the meal did not go as planned off the bat. We were left waiting for a table at the bar for a few minutes which was not a big deal. The manager was able to coordinate our party and seat us at a small table until a large enough table became available. Service here gets a 11⁄10. As we continued waiting for a larger table the manager provided us with complementary antipasti appetizers, at least $ 50 worth of food. It was really unnecessary but we indulged. Around an hour after our initial reservation we were seated at a larger table. Though we hit minor speed bumps along the ride — the food and outstanding customer service provided by the employees of this facility made up for any dissatisfaction I may have had off the bat. Food hit the spot, I think my food coma may have carried over into the following day. With the large portion sizes/sheet pizzas you have the opportunity to mix and match — which adds some spice to any meal. Keep in mind: sometimes simple is better — we split the D.O.C.(more classic) and the Romero Pizza(buffalo mozzarella, artichokes, truffle cream and prosciutto). The romero was a little too exotic for my liking but the D.O.C. really made a statement. Upbeat trendy vibes, amazing brick oven pizza and BYOB. Busy spot but worth the wait. Will be back sooner than later.

Just returned from here and it is sadly disappointing pizza. I had their namesake numero 28 truffle oil, mushroom and prosciutto brick oven pizza and although it was ok, I expected absolute top notch pizza instead of merely average. Their pere salad with gorgonzola, walnuts and added shrimp was pretty fresh, with the added shrimp being a substantial size and decent taste. The biggest and worst part of the meal was the appetizer, the fried calamari. Should have known it would be bad because it smelled fishy as it came out and the taste was no better. For the pricepoint you can do much better elsewhere for pizza. Skip the calamari unless you can sneak a smell and a peek at someone who has already ordered.

Pizza was great! Shared a 29 in. Pizza between 4 people and 3 different types. We will come back again next time we are in town. A must try! Emanuele was a great server! Very attentive! Made our experience here that much better!

As far as pizza, this place is decent. The wood oven makes a tasty crust with the right charring, perhaps a bit more crunchy than I would like[1]. The buffalo mozzarella is particularly tasty, and if you’re a purist I definitely recommend you try the Reginella pie with tomato, buffalo mozzarella, and basil. The San Daniele with tomato, mozzarella, arugula, and prosciutto was also a solid choice. I also like that pies come in 3 sizes: the normal 14″ individual pizza, plus two elongated ones(18″ and 29″). This is great for sharing if you come with a large group. I was surprised to see that the sink by the restroom was out of service. When I asked one of the servers where I could was my hands, his only reply was«I’m sorry». This got me a bit worried: where does the staff wash their hands? In the kitchen? There is actually a sink inside the bathroom, which unfortunately has only the hot water knob working. The boiling hot water makes for immediate sterilization alongside first degree burns, but isn’t this a bit too ghetto for the UES? The beer selection is rather pitiful. They only have bottles, and the ones they have are mediocre: Peroni, Moretti, Stella, Amstel, Corona, Bud Light. Service is slow to very slow. — — — — — — – [1] I like my pizza to be thin and chewy.

Reading all the terrible reviews about the service here, I was a little nervous about coming here. But in the end, everything turned out ok! We came as a rather large party on a Wednesday night. Arriving on time, our table was ready for us and the host and waiters were ready to seat us as soon as we arrived. Rather than being seated immediately, we opted to get a drink at the bar before hand. There’s a a Unilocal check-in offer for a free glass of wine(all week) or a cocktail(F — Sun). I thought it was weird that no cocktails were available on the weekdays but I guess the bartender only comes on weekends. But free drinks are free drinks! When everyone arrived, we were seated in a private area in the back of the restaurant. The service was friendly but a little slow. In the end, we ordered 4 large pizzas, beers, and wines. The wine selection was delicious — some very reasonably priced Italian wines. The beer selection was super meh — mostly stuff you would find at every bar(Coronas, Bud Lights… etc.). The pizzas were better than expected. They’re made in a wood burning oven and the crust is nice and thin. The red sauce is not particularly memorable but the toppings were generous and good. Overall a decent pizza — nothing to write home to mama about but perfectly acceptable. One negative-ish thing was the sink was out of order. The bathroom area has a separate sink that doesn’t work. When you ask the waiters about it they just kind of shrug it off. They don’t tell you that there’s another sink in the actual bathroom. Weird. Not sure if this is worth traveling to but if you live in the area could be a decent option to satisfy a pizza craving.

Well this wasn’t my first visit to Numero 28, but it was my first visit to this location on the UES. It’s definitely different, but in a good way!(Less crowded and more spacious than the East Village location.) Same BS cash only, but no need to go there. I loved coming here on a Monday night, it couldn’t have been quieter! My table of 5 got such EXCELLENT service and attention from our waiter. It was great being one of 2 tables! A fork was dropped on the floor, and before we were able to ask for a new one, a new one was already there! It was fantastic. We were able to try wine before choosing a bottle and just sit and enjoy our meal, without feeling rushed. Now, if you’ve seen any of my previous reviews, I love pizza. The pizza here is just NOT my absolute favorite. I do love how it is presented and I love thin crust pizza, but it just isn’t quite crispy enough for me. The D.O.C. is probably my favorite pie here and last night we also shared 2 other pies and a few salads and bruscetta(which was great). The mozz was fresh and the fried goat cheese in the beet salad was melt in your mouth delicious. I definitely think it’s a little pricey for pizza, especially when you’re a cash only business. I’d probably come back to this location before going back down to the East Village one too.
