Wow! What can I say. The service was less than average, as was the food. My 14 oz. strip steak was maybe 7 ounces and gristly and difficult to even cut. Our hash brown potatoes were a pile of mush, not at all crispy. I have had much better at Denny’s. Wines by the glass were way, way over priced, 2 to 3 times what any other place would charge. The chopped salad with anchovies had the nasty cheap ones and not the much better white ones. Not what you would expect from a «high end» restaurant. One star for a good Ketle One martini.

This will be the last visit to the Palm. This is especially sad since this restaurant ‘chain’ has been a staple for me, and then my family, for over four decades. [Think birthdays, graduations, quick lunches, lobster specials, and more]. My father had a house charge at the original Palm, now closed, when the only menu was a mimeograph sheet in a five and dime frame hanging on the wall. While I know my good friend who is painted on the wall by the bar will cringe when I tell him about my experience, I know that I have many other great steak houses to attend to that can take my money. When you pay nine dollars for a beer and it is delivered to the table warm, I expect another bottle that is cold, not«Can I put that on ice for you?». Just for kicks and giggles, I wanted to see if the waiter would come back to the table with a wine cooler and put the bottle of Heineken on ice. «It will be cool in a few minutes.» When the hostess saw this, I thought she would have delivered a bird right there. Apparently when the waiter does this, your beer is now free at the Palm. The steak was prepared well. The lobster was singed so that the end pieces were dry in their sockets. Then the associate waiter, the one that fills the water glasses, brought over the hot towels and lemon. He had good aim with my spouse; with me, he sought of missed and I enjoyed the lemon juice bath over the top portion of my torso. I gave him that look that New Yorkers give to people to show their discontent; he did not flinch. I am tired of asking for the chopped tomato and onion salad and making me believe that they are doing me a favor. And if you are going to have a 837 club, keep the memberships active for more than a year. I have had to renew now twice in the past three years as I don’t quite get to one of your restaurants exactly one year later. There will be no reason to renew this time around. It has been a great ride. Bye.

We had high expectations of this classic steakhouse. But unfortunately the service was both slow and rude. And they severely undercooked our steak — we ordered medium-rare and we got decidedly cold core. They didn’t apologize for this but just angrily took the steaks away and reheated them. We didn’t get new steaks, they didn’t compensate us, and and they didn’t apologize. Very disappointed. Cannot recommend to go there — I think they have become lazy after too much success.

My co-worker has managed to spend enough money at The Palm, it’s no longer a question of whether he’s eligible to get his caricature on the wall. It’s just a question of where on the wall he’s going. Prior to the permanent closure of the original Palm across the street, I would have bet as much money as he’s spent at The Palm that he would be going up next to George HW Bush, but who knows now. In full disclosure, I don’t know if my 5 star experience here was a by-product of who I was with, or if they’re just that damn good. From the moment my co-worker walked in the door until the moment he left, the staff here was practically kissing his ass. We started with the shrimp cocktail, which was nice and fresh and HUGE(or «UGE,» if you’re Bernie Sanders). The bone-in prime rib, which my co-worker called ahead to have reserved, was hands down the best prime rib I’ve ever had. Ever. And if you know anything about my intense love affair with that particular cut of beef, you know that means business. Perfectly rare, perfectly tender, perfectly sized and perfectly seasoned. I did request some additional au jus, but no biggie. The chef went a tad bit overboard on what tasted like a generous dosage of nutmeg in the creamed spinach, but it was delicious neverthless. The potatoes au gratin were also very good. Not too heavy or filling, and neither overly creamy or overly watery. The carrot cake for dessert was incredibly moist considering it must have been 7 layers deep. The mark-up on the wine is what you’d expect; the bottle we ordered for $ 80 retails for about $ 30. All said and done, between 1 appetizer, 4 entrees, 2 sides and a bottle of wine, our total came to just over $ 400, before tip. Not bad for a steakhouse in Manhattan, especially one of this quality.

A fairly good steak house — not cheap, about $ 60pp — service was good but food just okay. In NY there are plenty of better steak houses to be had

Food was on a par with other steakhouses. What let the operation down is the ambience and atmosphere. For a brand that is all about heritage it was disheartening to see they’re painting over cartoons of former diners. Meanwhile the serving experience was entirely transactional, lacking any warmth. Perhaps the end of the original Palm shows how much the chain has lost sight of its North Star.

Although the service was friendly, they never took care of us properly as noted below… and the 4 pound lobsters each of us in the group ordered only had a few bites. The shell was large but there was little meat. The claws, believe it or not were HOLLOW. That’s right, hollow, empty, ungots… nothing…Not a bite… Maybe a morsel. The tail was mimimal and seemed like a tail from a 2 lb lobster, not a 4 lb lobster. To make it worse, when it came to dessert, we were told dessert was on the house until the bill came. In the end the restaurant begrudgingly took off 2 of the 4 desserts… whopydoo… $ 265 later per couple, for 2 cocktails per person and an overpriced awful lobster and a few sides. Too bad, as we all have been long term guests but this place appears to have lost their way… Jumped the shark?

The Palm Too is an old-school steakhouse with dark wood paneling and walls covered with caricatures. I wouldn’t have been surprised if I walked in to see the place dominated by suited men and clouds of cigarette smoke. The food reflects this vibe too — classic offerings of red meat, seafood, and unadventurous vegetables. Lunching with a party of 7, we started off with drinks. I went with the Cucumber Basil Gimlet, which was as refreshing as it sounded. I followed up my gimlet with the Whiskey Smash, and it was a basically a liquid skittle. Oof, way too sweet. In terms of food, we all split an order of the Crispy Calamari Fritti. Calamari is never an appetizer I opt to order and it tends to taste the same to me, no matter where I eat it, so I don’t have any strong opinions of the ones here. For my entrée, I ordered the Filet Mignon with a side of wild mushrooms. Good thing I ordered the mushrooms because my steak came with zero accouterments other than a thin bed of sauce. While the plate was sadly sparse, the steak was delicious and well cooked. Though it was a nice holiday group lunch on the boss, the restaurant itself felt better suited for business lunches than casual dining, so I wasn’t necessarily into the ambiance but maybe I need to frequent more steakhouses.

My expectations were too high. The steak was one of the worst steaks I’ve eaten so far in my life. Go to Palm Too if you want to see cartoons on the wall, but other than that don’t go to Palm Too. It is just simply overpriced for food that isn’t even that great.

Excellent waiter but waiter assistants keep bringing out wrong food. Very large wall tv on which was very distracting. That’s ok in bar room but not in dinning room. Very expensive. —chicken palm(without pasta) -$ 38!!! Food ok. Certainly not worth the $$&

The service and the food was really bad. The waiter, Ciprian and the manager really could care less if the food was cold and the bread was old. We sent a plate of brussels sprout back because was cold and they burnt it. We gave them two thumbs down.

What can I say about this classic steakhouse except that you have to try it. This time I came for the summer lobster special — 3 lbs. for $ 59. It was well prepared, fresh and tasty. The pumpernickel bread that they start you off with is fantastic. The shrimp cocktail were a competitive size to other restaurants and pricey. The mixed green salad was nice, not extraordinary. We had the creamed spinach side, it was one of the best that I have tried and I have tried many. The waiter forgot my mushrooms but I wasn’t bothered by it, I just kept it moving. The cheesecake could have been better; it tasted like it was refrigerated for a while, a long while. Overall, this restaurant always pleases but I have to come back for a steak.

The place is old but thats the ambience you are signing up for. I loved the wait staff, I had a group of 15 people who were serviced really well. They weren’t pushing the menu and gave us space to have a good conversation at the table. The food is great! I had chilean sea bass, many ordered that and crab cakes looked great as well.

If at a steak house, the best part is the Brussels sprouts, something is amiss. Sides are enormous, so you can split them. They are serious about ordering a steak and there being only, literally, a steak. On a huge plate. And it is unadorned, and a bit under-seasoned. Not bad, just not memorable.

I summon thee USDA prime steaks plus more! Party of six for Sunday dinner was enjoyable and fulfilling. Entrees were: 2 Chicken Parmesan 1(shared) 14 oz. Filet Mignon with Bearnaise sauce 1 Filet Mignon 14 oz. with Bearnaise sauce 1 Broiled Jumbo Nova Scotia, Canadian Lobster 3 lbs. at market price Libation: 1 glass of Rosé wine Food is abundant without shortage in portion or quality. Their leather case menu contain the number of calories for each entrée so dieters can track calorie intake. Service is somewhat attentive as they patiently waited for our entire party to arrive, but surprising the maitre d’ did not check-in our jackets upon our entrance as this is a first class restaurant. Our waiter was available but not overbearing as he needed to be reminded to serve our requested Bearnaise sauce to accompany our steak. My half shared 7 oz. Filet Mignon was flavorable and sufficient as my stomach is smaller than my eyes. The Jumbo lobster is HUGE which is sufficient for two people. No annoying TV screens to distract one’s table conversation. The walls are entirely plastered with cartoon sketches and framed media news articles with Palm Too’s name mentioned. The overhead music is somewhat loud. Thankfully, this restaurant do not automatically tack on gratuity on the bill. A single facility is available one for women and one for men, but relatively clean. Reservations are made through but this restaurant do not participate in Open Table’s dinning points. Pricey but good for a one-time splurge. Note: The original location across the street, The Palm 837 Second Avenue is currently closed for renovation.

Went on a Saturday night at 8PM. Very busy, as Palm One across the street is now closed for renovation. Waiter was friendly and courteous. Available but not overbearing. Lobster bisque was just OK… a bit salty and not too creamy. I would not recommend. Clam appetizer was good… both texture and seasoning. Filet Mignon was tender and cooked as ordered. Not the best steak I have ever eaten, but a very solid choice. I would recommend. Creamed spinach was quite good. Wine list was quite extensive and prices were consistent with the upscale steakhouse scene. Waiter had some helpful suggestions. Key lime pie was very good; creamy with a tasty crust. Birthday candle on cake, as previously requested. Waiters rendition of «Happy Birthday» was a nice touch. I would definitely return.

Great Location, Great Service and Great steak! How can you go wrong with the palm? It has a sister resturaunt right across the street but I prefer this location rather to the other. The cartoons on the wall are pretty col. This is a no frills steakhouse, unlike Del Friscos or Ruth Chris you can come in dressed pretty casually. As usual we ordered the ribeye abd a side of sautéed spinach with garlic. Our food always comes so fast so we timed it and it took only 14 mins for 236oz ribeyes and one side. Thats pretty impressive, at least to me. The ribeye was excellent of course and prepared exactly how i asked. I love the fact that they dont season the meat too much for you in case you are sensitive to salt or would like to add more. Im not sure how i even ate all of that including the meat on the bone! The Palm Too will always remain a classic and one of my favorites for its quick service and attention to detail. Cant wait to come again

We always have a wonderful time here. As you walk in you are greeted with a coat check and smiling staff. There was a mix up with our reservation(we had accidentally made it for the Palm across the street) but it was early(especially for NYC standards) so they were able to accommodate us. They were kind throughout the whole ordeal. The atmosphere is brighter and less crowded than the palm across the street but their specialty of steak and Italian is the same. The walls are painted with caricatures of famous people which is fun. I started with a martini(made perfectly) and oysters, which were on special. The oysters were delicious. Others at my table had the soup and shrimp cocktail(very visually impressive) and all agreed our food was good. For dinner, I had the filet, cooked perfectly. All meat is a la carte so our table shared mushrooms, brussels sprouts, spinach and the potato and onions dish. All were tasty, my favorite being the sprouts. We ended with various dessert items. I normally don’t like flourless chocolate cake but theirs is delicious and the cheesecake is heavenly also. They have calorie counts for every item on the menu which can be a little depressing but you get past it after eating the food. :) Our waiter, Steve, was friendly and quick. We had a large group and he took great care of us. The other members of the wait staff was very good as well. I drink a ton of water and my glass was never more than half empty(insert pun). It is pricey but delicious. A great spot for a long dinner with the family or special event. On a side note, they had a private party in the back room and it looked like the perfect location. :)

The 34oz prime rib that they serve on weekends was one of the best I’ve ever had. Done. This is my new go to place for prime rib. I went here with a couple of friends and we had the following: Oysters — It was odd that they didn’t really separate these from the shell so I had to use a fork to scrape them off the shell. Also, they didn’t have any mignonette. Bacon wrapped scallop — cooked correctly and okay with balsamic reduction sauce Goat cheese mashed potatoes — didn’t really taste the goat cheese. No harm no foul Sauteed Spinach — good. My friends steaks were the right temperature on the inside, but there was a significant char on the outside that overwhelmed the beef flavor on the inside. Not sure I’d come here for the steak which is a shame since this is a steakhouse.
