I’m going to miss this place. There are so many bad restaurants in that area. Why did they have to close this one

There was this uncomfortable moment after I entered this place, lured in by the giant sign out front displaying a «multi texture» drink called the«Paris Special» — which looked like those«Bambu Special» drinks popularized by Bambu shops on the West coast. One employee to another: «make her a Paris special.» Other employee, looking genuinely perplexed: «a what?» First employee more emphatically«make her a Paris Special!» «What?» Two more rounds of this, and finally first employee grabs sign off counter, turns it around and points to said drink. Friend, later in the night as I recounted this story: «God, at that point I would’ve just left.» I stayed. And while it took them a minute and I sort of stood around awkwardly at this lunch counter while what seemed to be regulars ordered sandwiches, when I left I had in my hands the best drink I had all trip! For under $ 5 it was like a whole little meal in a glass, with grass jelly, coconut milk, basil seed, red bean(maybe?) Think I got that list right. I wish I had asked for no ice but it was still great. This place is on the border between Chinatown and Little Italy but serving up French Vietnamese sandwiches, along other lunch and bakery items, etc. Once everyone was on the same page about the drink ingredients, the employees were quite friendly. I’m a fan!

First, the food. I ordered the paris special banh mi and it was really sweet. One of the best cold cut banh mi i had was from a place in boston that uses pork fat as mayo. The meat was extremely fat and the sauce was really sweet, none of which I liked. It was edible but I would not really come back again for taste. It wasn’t bad enough for me to throw it out, I would eat it over a lot of things like airplane food, but it wasn’t great either. Probably worse than some subway sandwiches. Second and what makes me hate this restaurant and will never come back here and will recommend that no one come here ever is that this restaurant is dishonest and steals from potential credit card users. I got charged $ 60 for 2 sandwiches. Even my credit company sent me an email saying that the transaction was fishy. The cashier put in nearly $ 45 for tip on a $ 15 transaction that was for walk-in takeout. Tampering with the tips amount on the credit card slip is illegal.

The workers working behind the counter has poor sanitary knowledge and bad customer service. I saw this middle aged lady who made my milk tea, used the mixer spoon to taste my drink and placed it on the table. I’m positive her saliva will end up in someone else’s drink.

With so many good foods to try in Chinatown, this place can fly under the radar, but it’s worth checking out because it’s delicious. Their Vietnamese sandwiches are great. If you are too full after eating at different places in Chinatown, I recommend you buy a sandwich and bring it home for tomorrow. Once you heat it up a little, it’s still amazing.

Not just a sandwich shop! Best canh chua I’ve found so far with lots of veggies: okra, spongy veggie, pineapple, tomatoes and bean sprouts. We also had the phở which was decent and the rice crepes were also good.

I didn’t order sandwiches but ate restaurant-side. –The food(beef, fish, tamarind soup) wasn’t terrible but wasn’t good = 2.5 stars –The sauteed/braised fish was salmon(a Vietnamese person would cringe) instead of the customary catfish & it was too salty = 2 stars –Sneaky owner. When asked how rice is charged, owner didn’t finish answering, «It’s charged …,» but rushed us in Vietnamese, «Rice for 3 people OK?» = 0 stars Not being upfront about how much you charge makes me never want to return to your restaurant. Please don’t do this to future customers.

A regular place for us to eat and get take out. Authentic Vietnamese food and you can’t go wrong with any choice. Our favourites are the phở, vermicelli and summer rolls. We often buy the summer rolls to take and have as a snack later. I prefer them over the fried spring rolls. Their Vietnamese sandwiches are good if you like their sliced pork sausage(kinda like a luncheon meat) We also love the desserts here like the coconut dessert but our fav is the durian milkshake! Yum!!!

The Vegetarian banh mi might have been one of the worst sandwiches I’ve ever had. They described the filling as stir-fried tofu but what a got was some disgusting pile of gray matter that smelled like rotting food mixed with ashtray. Yes I’m serious, ashtray. Bread was low quality and the pickled veggies tasted old. Very disappointing. I ended up taking a few bites and throwing most of it away.

I used to come here all of the time for the banh mi(2 or 3 years ago). Got a #1 banh mi today and was deeply disappointed. The sandwich was mediocre and had an overall bland taste. The bread also tasted stale. I couldn’t even finish it. Three more than half away. When I walked inside, something felt different. Maybe they changed owners or something. The sandwich was definitely off and the price went up($ 5). I think I’ll be going to the other banh mi shops in the area from now on.

I love this restaurant. Its very cozy. Been here many time and would recommend all my friends and family. I usually order number 1 or 2. Its Paris house special platter come with different meat and thin noddle and lot of vegetable. You dip the rice paper in water to make it softer then roll your noodle n meats n veggies in it and dip it in the fish sauce. Yummy its lighter than Chinese foods because no grease and plenty of veggies. If I have a party if 4 or more I would order two platters. Can’t go wrong for the price.

Probably the most disappointing banh mi I’ve ever had. I got delivery here and the messenger was so rude. He told me not to order from them again. Seriously bro? Once I ate the sandwich all the ingredients were mediocre at best. The bread was stale and the«vegetable» portion(which is normally always tofu) ended up being some sort of pickled mushroom with a weird consistency. You could definitely find a 10x better banh mi within a 5 block radius

For the love of God, service is horrible, food is old and disgusting. Meat is dry and tasteless. Bread is hard and tastes stale. Vegetables are ehh. Their location on Grand St isn’t great either(from what I’ve heard and the reviews, it’s worst). You may have to confirm this ordeal because I don’t know. ZEROSTARS.

I do not recommend getting the banh mih sandwiches here. The ones at Banh Mih Saigon are significantly superior in taste and quality of ingredients! Cons: * We waited forever for 2 sandwiches, where at Saigon you get them instantly * The meat does not taste fresh and has more of a sour taste * The daikon and carrots aren’t even that pickled and taste like raw vegetables– so disgusting * Also more expensive and slightly smaller than Saigon Never returning here for sandwiches. Thumbs down!

I was forced to come here since my usual bahn mi place, Bahn Mi Saigon, sold out of all their bahn mi’s. I ordered the Banh Mi Bi which is the shredded pork baguette. I would have to say that the pork filling was quite tasty and had a great charred flavor to it. However, I feel that they skimped out on the meat filling and also the bread was quite stale and chewy. At $ 5 a bahn mi for a Chinatown establishment, I expect better. There is no way they can compete with Bahn Mi Saigon. I recommend to go down a block and get a much better bahn mi at a lesser price.

Hands down the best Vietnamese restaurant in the city. This is a no frills, authentic Vietnamese restaurants with a large menu and many great dishes. Their spicy tamarind soup is my all-time favorite. It’s super addicting and delicious with so many flavors going on. They also have really good sauteed fish(the sauce is great with rice) which had great flavor. I also tried their shaked beef on lettuce which was also good. For dessert, I tried their taro rice pudding that was on par with all the other dishes.

The Paris on Mott(there’s two, I hear,) Has a B grade, but do not fear, Food was all very fresh, and ready fast, Better than places I’ve tried the past. It’s the best phở takeout I’ve yet had, And seven dollars isn’t bad, The broth itself was piping hot, Of meat and greens they gave a lot. I’ll order from Paris again, someday, When I can’t keep the phở cravings at bay.

I was a little skeptical in trying this place. Mainly cause it’s a chain/over price kind of place. Pork Chop over rice for $ 6.25?! Ouch. Trust me. I can find better deals with much better taste! But of course this venture, I went to try their sammichhh! Ordered the classic and meatball. Classic was not too shabby. Nothing to go WOOHOO! about. But the meatball. ouch… I think mine was still raw? I couldn’t tell cause the sauce was red… and it was just all blend in. Plus it was a bit cold in the middle. So I was a bit skeptical in continuing on in devouring this. I put a flush on this place! and truckin on! *woot*woot*.

In terms of service, friendly and attentive service, especially for Chinatown. I had the seafood noodles today during lunch time for about $ 8. This was my first time here on a friends recommendation. Lots of noodles but little seafood. Couldn’t finish all the noodles. Clean bathroom(a rarity in the Chinatown and Little Italy restaurants I’ve visited. Would go back just to see if other food is better but definitely not better than average. Fortunately, don’t have to pay for hot tea.

Very quick and efficient delivery and decent broth in the Phở, which arrives well packaged and with all the standard accompaniments(fresh mint leaves and cilantro, crisp bean sprouts, jalapeño slices, citrus wedge, hoisin and sriracha sauces; plentiful, pillowy rice noodles). Note that there is a vast difference between the two«chicken noodle soups» listed on Seamless. The one that costs .50 more contains shredded, boiled strips of white meat chicken along with some vegetables featured in Jewish chicken noodle soup(celery, carrots, onions) as well as the odd addition of broccoli, while the lower-priced soup features the standard Phở veggies and chunks of seasoned, grilled chicken. The menu on Unilocal’s order online feature makes the difference much more clear.

Don’t be scared away by their bright fluorescent sign, this place is worth a try. First time I tried their stir fried noodles with seafood($ 12), I was addicted. I’m surprised there aren’t more mentions of it on Unilocal. The portion they of it is huge and I ate close to half of it! Yess leftovers nommers. Eat it with Sriracha you don’t be disappointed. All of the other menu items are just average. I’ve had the phở and banh mi and wasn’t impressed. They’re green tea waffles are also just meh. I don’t see why everyone’s raving about it. It was soggy and bland. Not fresh at all seeing as I saw her take it out, premade and already in a paper bag. The employees here are rude, obviously, Chinatown, nuff said. But the food service is fast, reasonably priced, and yummy. A lot of people confuse this place with the other Paris Sandwich a few blocks over. This location is a bit better. The other location only serves sandwiches while this one has sit down service and a bigger menu. They do make banh mis regularly here as well. Most people do come in just for the sandwiches. The toaster is right up front and they make it right in front of you. I’m not a fan of the sandwiches though, I don’t see anything special about them, they’re not cheap at $ 6 either.
