Mmmm, warm Pita! Tasty Hummus. Looking for a nice place to enjoy what the middle east has brought to our lovely country? Found it! Pita Hut — don’t let the name fool you. This aint no factory pita and there is no cheesy bread. Expect fresh homemade hummus and a good selection of shockingly healthy sandwiches made to order. Only thing I don’t like about this place is that it’s closed on Sundays. For some reason, I always find myself craving their falafel pita on Sunday.

Hole in the wall. The kind of place you would go for take out because it’s just that small/awkward to sit inside and eat. Wanted to try the Falafel Eggplant. but they didn’t have anymore eggplant. Womp. So I ordered the Falafel Cauliflower instead. And boy, was I glad. I was surprised at how good and tasty it was!(I was never really that big on Falafel. It’s the kind of food I have to be in the mood for). Chicken Caesar Pita was just alright, nothing special. Don’t think I would order it again.

Middle Eastern food in a fast food setting. I had the chicken kabob platter with hummus. You can choose the platters with hummus, couscous, or salad. The food took a very long time to come out for a fast food place. The portions here are normal sized. The food tasted okay. It was prepared with less grease and was definitely healthier than many other Middle Eastern food places. Unfortunately, the prices are way too high. For example, after tax, a falafel sandwich is close to $ 5. My platter ended up being close to $ 11. The portion and flavor does not justify the price. I would rather get some food from the halal carts at half the price.

Just ate my grilled chicken pita sandwich and it was just ok. My main issue was that it was drenched with some kind of sauce — basically, it was dripping everywhere and getting the pita soggy. So, if you’re gonna get one, just ask them for sauce on the side.

Excellent falafels, lamb kebabs, and chicken kebabs. This place is cheap, healthy, and delicious. The trifecta for a good meal. I’ve been there several times and this place always reliably will serve a spot on delicious Middle Eastern meal. Also, gotta give them props for keeping their beverages extra cold. This is going to be a reliably good meal for any one. It’s great that there’s a place like this next to the Chelsea Movie Theaters, who has the most comfortable seats in Manhattan probably. Get a falafel to go and take it into the movies. Sneak it into the purse of your close friend or significant other. It’s not crazy. It may be against the rules, but you’ll be thanking me when you’re sinking your teeth into crunchy falafels while having to labor through whatever awkward romantic comedy they’re making you watch.

I checked out this place on Unilocal, with people saying its 4.00. I was a little upset that people have raised the prices. My wallet is still under recession. Oh well, I tried this on my second attempt to find a cheap, good standard lunch near work. From 4, they raised it to 4.50 + tax. I actually got a hummus sandwich instead of a falafel one. Kind of preferred rainbow falafel over this one. However the hummus tasted fresh, the lettuce and tomato made a rare appearance in my sandwich drowning in a sea of hummus. I dont know about you but I kinda wanted a hummus to vegetable ratio of 1:4. I think I got it the other way around. But I think this is the easiest falafel that I’ve eaten so far. I ate it on the subway without humiliating myself too much. btw, the hot sauce aint that hot.

Not a bad Falafel, but not great. Everything was pointing to excellent, but the falafels turned out to be over fried and the hot sauce was far from spicy. Unfortunately, two things that are key for me. Good choice for a quick lunch bite.

an excellent little falafel place on 23rd st. Its the first time I had a cauliflower falafel and it was awesome. TRYIT! The old guy that works there is really cool with people but at first impression he doesn’t seem so nice, don’t let that fool you. Hes like the Italian grandfather that wants to keep feeding you, except hes Middle Eastern, I think!

Wow, that is the 1st thing I had to say about this place. Yummy! The best falafel sandwich that I have had so far. I know of two Pita places in the neighborhood where I work. They are not bad. One is actually better than the newest place that was opened.(I will not name them) So, I was in a falafel mood today but wanted to see if there where anymore falafel places around my job that I can go to. Kinda of tired of the ones I mentioned before. Well, thank you UnilocalERS for reviewing and thank you Pita Hut for AWESOME falafels! I had the falafel, cauliflower(because it was highly recommended by a UnilocalER in her review) on a whole wheat pita bread. It was so tasty. the cauliflower was laden with flavor. The workers there where very friendly and courteous. The place is very small and its not fancy or anything, its actually a hole in the wall. But the food is great and fresh. I would have given this establishment 5 stars, but here are the reasons I didn’t: 1. The place has great fresh food but could use a renovation. Would be nice if more people could stay and eat. Perhaps outside tables and chairs? 2. Their credit card machine wasn’t working. So I had to take out some cash out the ATM. That was an extra $ 1.25 to my lunch. But otherwise, this place is great! I highly suggested it. :) Oh and their juices are fresh and made in front of you while you wait. Don’t forget to ask for their hot sauce. Great hot sauce, flavorful but not exaggerated spice! Yummy!

NOTE: RATINGBASEDSOLEYUPONJUICESERVICE I have never tried the food but the(freshly made while you wait) juices at Pita Hut are great and the guys behind the counter are really nice and friendly. So I just thought I’d give this place a little Unilocal«shout out»

I go to this place for lunch at least once a week. It’s the best falafel place in the neighborhood, in my opinion. Really tasty falafel sandwiches… including falafel w/hummus, falafel w/eggplant, falafel w/baba, and falafel w/cauliflower. Make sure you get both tahini and hot sauce. Also, the juices are great. I love the Kale surprise. And the service is great!

So as a tourist in NY and having no idea where to eat in a city filled with good eats, I turned to Unilocal to help me find a good and fast place to eat in this area. It did not fail me. The falafel sandwiches have to be the best! I got the falafel eggplant while my husband ordered the cauliflower. Wow. First of all… genious! It tasted just as good. The hot sauce was a hit with our party. We got some fresh juice and we saw the guy make it right infront of us. It was fresh all right. The place is small and at first might not look so inviting… but just walk inside and you will get the best pita sandwiches.

Being new to the area, we decided to try the top rated place in our little corner of Chelsea. It’s a tiny little hole in a wall, grungy awning, and an inadvertently hilarious mural. Lovely, of course. Speaking of lovely, the service could not be better; fast service, and the large gentleman behind the counter made my evening, giving us extra helpings of the sinus-clearing ginger-laced juice we ordered. The falafel is light and crispy, the sauces could use so oomph, and the vegetarian combo is killer. If its time to go cheap(as it so often is for me), its hard to do better.

Possibly the shittiest name in the world. Possibly the shittiest awning /store front. Definitely the gayest neighborhood, but that’s the sort of thing from whence magical, dream-laced feasts emerge. Or you get some greasy palestinian vom(lol ?). Pita hut’s chef is probably autistic, or at least obsessive-compulsive re: the expert consistency in his purees. With a flick of his wrist and a jingle of gold, hummus, baba, and tabouleh rain hard upon the vegetarian combo platter, the likes of which will probably make you think that you’ve stepped into a french orientalist painting, the most beautiful generically middle-eastern babe fanning the fumes of sweet dates into your nostrils(she’s actually latina). If you ask for the spesh one they even send you a proz and a hookah. SIKE(i’m on drugs right now, and also at work) but in all seriousness, the vegetarian combo platter is one of the best deals in chelsea and tastes really really really really good. shish kebab and chicken platters are also nice but the variety is lacking — you can only get couscous or onions with them, whereas the veggie platters provide you with a wide variety of options and are better for your heart if u r prone 2 death. falafel is awesome as is shwarma. perfect amounts of flavor, grease, and accoutrements, which is french for extra crap. can’t go wrong here. and the delivery is wicked fast dude. i eat here loads, so i’m not lying to you. at all.

Pita Hut has pretty good falafels sandwiches. I’ve had better Baba Ganoush, but Pita Hut is worth a quick meal if you’re in Chelsea. NYC lacks good falafel places.

Tired, hungry and only having seven dollars at my disposal I stumbled into Pita Hut and ordered a hummus sandwich. It was literally hummus in a pita with a lone lettuce leaf at the bottom. The hot sauce was sub-par. A woman came in and almost left because she said she was seeking juice-to which the proprietor assured her they do have juice any kind she wanted. She balked at paying an extra 50 cents for pineapple and the man gave it to her anyway. As I turned to deposit my tray and my garbage; the old man handed me a cup with what was the remainder of the juice concoction. Delicious. I have yet to try other things at Pita Hut who are raising a few of their prices due to increased cost. When the man gave me the juice(for free) I was thinking«This is what is missing from all these chains that are popping up everywhere.» ah the human touch-please go to pita hut even if it is to purchase a snapple-support the proverbially mom and pop where it is rapidly disappearing on 23rd st.

Tired. Cranky, Hungry! I’d just flown into NY and after dealing with a lost luggage debacle at JFK I just wanted to unwind. But first I needed to eat, since JetBlue doesn’t give you meals. It was raining, so I didn’t want to venture too far from the Chelsea Hotel where I was staying, so I went across the street to Pita Hut. I was hoping they didn’t just have vegetarian food– yay chicken! So I ordered the chicken kabob sandwich and a Diet Coke. The friendly guy behind the counter also offered me some free dipping sauces and my meal was around $ 5. Yay! The sandwich was super yummy and filling, and I’m sure I’ll go back the next time I’m in Chelsea.

When in NY I make a bee line for this place — not for the ambiance or NY experience but for the food. The food is delicious healthy and CHEAP! The Hummus is good but after trying the Falafel Eggplant Sandwich and Babganoush Sandwich I completely forget that I usually order Hummus in a Middle Eastern restaurant. And they serve fresh squeezed juice I am talking healthy stuff as in Spinach, Garlic, Carrots and Apple — it might not sound good but it is actually sweet with a slight spicy bite from the garlic. Every city should be lucky enough to have a jewel like this one.

Pita Hut is a true testament to the sprit of New York. The laid-back atmosphere and delectable menu makes this place an A+ in the Big Apple, meaning everyone else doesn’t even come close. With affordable prices and an ubber friendly owner, this New York City gem is a must stop if you enjoy mediterranean food. I HIGHLY suggest the Caesar Chicken Pita!!!
