This place is extremely mediocre. Ordered pork chive dumplings via Seamless. The dumplings were SO dry. The filling was flavorless and did not contain chives. It was literally a dry lump of meat. I ended up just mostly eating the skin. Also, the only reason I ordered from here was cause they had bubble tea delivery, but the bubble tea is thick and heavily powdered as well. Would not recommend.

Had to update my review. Used to be My go-to delivery Chinese restaurant because of their fresh, real ingredients and quick delivery! Unfortunately, they recently changed their menu and their food has been below par. My last order tasted very fishy.

Probably not my favorite place to have Asian food. Though there’s a ton to choose from and it’s in a great neighborhood, I got sick when I ate there and I had eaten nothing but a granola bar that day. They put a ton of MSG in the food and they do not use natural ingredients for at least half of the dishes. Not my favorite place, unfortunately.

Used to be my go to spot for cheap Chinese food delivery. They forgot my drink a few times but I let it slide. The last order however was horrific. This experience began with the delivery person yelling at my door for a reason that I am still not clear on. Now the food: Wonton soup: super salty and bones in the wontons– not edible General tso’s chicken: the chicken was mushy and not edible Do yourself a favor and do not order from here.

I wouldn’t recommend. Probably the worst Chinese food I’ve had in NYC. Literally the worst. Pork dumplings were awful, the scallion pancakes, everything was of poor quality.

*I got delivery from them– did not go to actual restaurant* Good inexpensive dinner! I was craving dumplings(specifically Vanessa’s Dumplings) but boo they don’t deliver to my area… found this place off Seamless. I mean, they have dumpling in their name, so why not give it a try? 30 minutes later, I’m ripping through the bag. I got the $ 7.35 Dinner Special(Mixed Veggies with Beef) — comes with a soup(wonton soup for me, but they have the standard egg drop soup, hot/sour soup) and choice of rice(brown, white, or fried– fried for me!) I also got an order of steamed pork dumplings(6 plump ones for $ 4.95) Pretty solid stuff. My dinner special was a basic stirfry, not that intensely greasy. The dumplings were heavy on the skin, but were nice and juicy. Really nothing special, but if you want a good cheap tasty dinner, this is the place.

They messed up my order and didn’t deliver the drinks that I purchased with the meal. After I discovered, I called and informed them. The man took my information and told me he would get back to me. 15 minutes later, no call. I called back and asked if the drinks would be re-delivered. A woman picked up and said they would be. 45 minutes after my initial call, I called to check on the drinks .The man said they were coming; they were just busy. 1:15 after I called again to check on status. Note this is now hours after my initial order. The woman picks up and literally YELLS at me that the delivery guy said he gave me the drinks in the bag. First of all, I am literally holding the bag with no drinks. Second of all, why would you tell me the drinks were on their way when they clearly weren’t only to argue with me an hour later. There was no reasoning with her, she kept seriously yelling at me. I still have not received my drinks. RIDICULOUS.

Do yourself a favor and order from one of the other 15 dumpling shops or 20 Chinese restaurants in the east village. It used to be my favorite but they must have switched management because now: — THEYARESORUDE — The order is always wrong — The dumplings are tasteless and over breaded — They are extremely rude — The food delivery always takes more than an hour — They recycle food from the day before — Did I mention they were rude? They got my order wrong and I called to tell them, they yelled at me then hung up the phone. Actually yelled and hung up the phone on the phone. I would give it less than 1 star if that was possible.

This is awesome inexpensive Chinese food! I don’t know why everyone is giving it such a hard time… Their dumplings are incredible, wonderful texture and so tasty. The chicken dumplings and the veggie dumplings are my favorite. The chicken and broccoli, and lo mein are also very well done. I have been going to this place for years and am always happy with my meal. I recommend checking it out for takeout or a casual dinner!

So let me begin by saying that I ordered delivery from Plump Dumpling, I didn’t eat at the actual restaurant. I ordered one of the dinner specials(garlic chicken) and their vegetable dumplings. The delivery service was sub-par to say the least. I was told that it was going to take 30 – 45 minutes to get to my apartment, after almost ANHOUR, I finally received my food, which was now room temperature. The only thing that I would order from here again were the dumplings, at least they were good enough for the restaurant to have the namesake. The garlic chicken, while I liked the fact that I could order a dinner special rather that a pint of the chicken, was just meh, it was fine-definitely not worth ordering more than once. Overall I’d say that you’re in NYC so go to one of the other, way better Chinese restaurants in the city.

More like«Plump Dump.» But seriously, gave this place 3 chances because my first order was that good. I was hoping the 2nd time was just a fluke, it was not. 35+ mins late, food was freezing cold, inedible rock hard pork buns(lol). Maybe stick to pick up?

Sigh. I knew the day I’d have to write my first one star review would come. And here it is. My sister and I stopped into Plump Dumpling after shopping at Buffalo Exchange down the street. We didn’t have much time to mull over choices of where to eat, so we passed by for a quick bite before heading home to good ol’ NJ. We ordered two bubble teas, a soup and some veggie dumplings with broccoli. My bubble tea tasted fine, but my sister got hers with milk and something tasted WAY off about it. When we asked the server if she could swap it out for another drink, the reply was«umm.I don’t think so.» K. At this point we checked the reviews. Yikes, 2 ½ stars? We knew we had made a mistake, but there was no turning back at this point. A lesson was learned that day: never eat somewhere without checking the Unilocal reviews first! After a few minutes the veggie dumplings and side of broccoli came out. The dumplings definitely lived up to their«plump» reputation. They were pretty much all dough with a little bit of soggy vegetable filling. I had one bite and decided to forego all that mess til my soup arrived. I also tried a bite of the broccoli which tasted like cheap Chinese food broccoli. Not to mention it was swimming in grease. Yuck. The tofu and vegetable soup I got for $ 8 was actually not bad. It had a good flavor and the veggies seemed fresh, I enjoyed it. That is, until I had a raging stomach ache that felt like knives piercing my intestinal tract 6 hours later.(All I ate beforehand was a Kind bar, all I ate after was bread and butter. Seems to me the soup was the culprit.) Like others have mentioned, this place has a definite shady feel. The employees are not amiable whatsoever and the ambiance is a step below mediocre. This could be overlooked if the food was halfway decent, but Plump Dumpling struck out in that field too. Obviously I would not recommend this sad excuse for a Vietnamese restaurant. Take your business elsewhere or you could end up regretting it.

Wow. Bad service, bad food, bad experience over all. I ordered mango bubble tea with milk and dumplings with broccoli in brown sauce. The bubble tea was absolutely vile. I’m not kidding. I guess it was whatever milk they used, because my sister ordered one with just juice and it tasted alright. I sipped it and made a visible indication that I was grossed out, and one of the owners(I’m assuming) made eye contact with me and just looked away. THEN, I tell the waitress that I really didn’t like the bubble tea and politely asked if I could get something else instead. She just looks at me and goes«Um… I don’t think so.» And walks away. What? We get our order(which did come out fast, but comprised the taste of the food.) My dumplings came soaked in oil and the broccoli tasted like someone dumped a shaker of salt into the brown sauce it was in. This place is a complete epic fail, and it really bothers me that no one there seems to care. Do yourself a favor and eat anywhere but here.

Its so so. Not going to say its great but its certainly not bad. Its decent Chinese food at a fair price. You can’t go wrong with the Chicken/Beef and Broccoli but i guess its not that hard to make. Portions on the entrees are pretty generous. The dumpling were pretty good too but not amazing. All in all. Its good place to eat if your not looking for upscale expensive Asian food. Good place to pick up a quick cheap meal on your way home from work I’ve never had the food delivered so i can’t comment on that.

the dumplings are exactly what the name says. PLUMP ordered delivery for lunch and got the dumplings with curry sauce and the side of noodles. It was pretty good. Not amazing and not the best dumplings I’ve ever had but for the price and for lunch it will does just fine! The dumplings are huge!

This place is super sketch and NOTGOOD! They have the strangest people actually sitting in the restaurant. They’re not particularly clean and it looks like the last update was from 20 years ago. That wouldn’t be the issue but then they go and make me dislike regular vietnamese food that I usually eat on the regular. Their summer roll is a cold dead version of the usual with a bland watery peanut sauce and possibly old boiled shrimp slices, cold rice noodles that are hard, and iceberg lettuce! What? No. The other thing I had here was not memorable. I was craving summer rolls again and I tried this again for a 2nd time. I’m reminding myself why I shouldn’t have tried it AGAIN. No flavor. No quality. No way!

Why on earth would you hire waiters that piss off customers by kicking their DOGS for no apparent reason? Here’s how it happened. I walk in and asked for table for 2 outside because I have my dog with me. 3 seconds later. a waiter comes out. gives me the menu. then KICKS my dog.(All within 15 – 20 seconds of me sitting down). Obviously, i didn’t stay to eat at this shitty restaurant’s food.

They get 1 star because the dumplings are kind-of OK. Everything else, and the service, is not. Ordered my food on Seamless because they had a 30-minute time window. 1.5 hours later, I’m calling them to find out that they’ve apparently re-made my food, and then I get hung up on. Food finally arrives. Ordered noodle soup, and I got a container of oil/vegetables with zero trace of said noodles(see photo). Crab rangoons were rubbery, chewy and almost inedible, sitting in grease. I just washed my face to try and get rid of the grease.

I think this was the second time here. Well, since my taste buds have somewhat developed(thanks to my «foodie husband») I’d say this place is just«okay». It seems like they make most of their money through takeout since they have a pretty affordable takeout menu. If you’re concerned about ambiance of the place: the dining room is pretty minimal when it comes to decoration or anything fancy. I think it’s a bit pricey for the quality of food they give. I had the Vermicelli noodles with beef. My husband had a papaya Salad. It was really a small portion so that dissapointed him and he said the taste was too sweet = too Americanized. Well… I guess their general clientele likes Americanized?

Walking by after YTTP and needed a bite. Saw the menu and was ewwww(good eww) they have grilled chicken lemongrass over rice with cucumbers, very yummy and refreshing when I’ve had it in the past. For comparison and expectation Phở Grand has it the way I like it. Actually most Vietnamese restaurants I’ve been to have had it the way I like. Pounded out chicken breast seasoned and chopped up and served over rice with some cucumbers pretty simple and again refreshing. OK now on to the food I got. I walked in placed my order and then was going to check in to Unilocal when I saw how low the reviews were and little ree I got queasy. I’ve had food poising before so my mind and body went there. I was like should I ask for my money back, I was bugging out. Lol. I got the dish and walked out(take out BTW) and as I was walking I opened the container and checked it out. Looked like a chicken and garlic sauce from a Chinese restaurant. Not a bad thing just not what I expected. I still was uncertain and decided that I would hand it off to a homeless person if I encountered any on the way home. On my way home I walked by the new Halal spot on the corner of 14th and 3rd. I was like maybe they’d take a trade? I rode the bus home with my food, no homeless encounters yet. On the bus was a dude with the yellow and red halal bag and I was thinking maybe he’d wanna switch like when we were younger(cept I never switched cause I ate what I liked why would I switch), but this fantasy didn’t happen. Off the bus on my way home, last chance for a homeless handoff. I see the same homeless guy every day(he even refused a banana from me before, that’s bananas), and now the dude is sleeping. I’m like great your the laziest homeless man ever. I get home open the dish and smell it, smells alright(I’m a smeller, I smell things). I start to eat it and to my surprise its lemongrassy, with a touch of piquancy. No cucumbers though, sucks but I can deal. It’s a bit oily and some of the chicken pieces are a bit crunchy like they’ve been cooked too long or too many times. I worried about the oil and spices effecting my digestion so I ate some coconut yogurt and had some chamomile tea. Would I eat this again? Nah Phở Grand for me. Skip this spot.
