The quality of service has gone wayyy down since they first opened. Do not pay attention, do not greet or acknowledge you when you come in, ask you your order, chat with a coworker, then ask your order again. Not great and it’s disappointing.

I came here for lunch because I was traveling to my new school Baruch. I went in and the line wasn’t too bad. I waiting in line and one of the employees sneezed. Gross! However, it wasnt near the food so it wasn’t too bad. I ordered the grilled chicken and cheddar sandwich was very tasty. I ordered a chocolate chip cookie as well. The prices are decent and the location is nice. Limited seating but it is NYC. So happy with my sandwich.

I love potbelly and have frequented them over the years, but this location has been particularly disappointing. Normally the service is quick and friendly. Today I went in and waited 5 minutes in line behind ONE person who had already placed her(very simple) order, and had been waiting on it before I even got there! After she left I waited another 5 minutes just for them to make my sandwich. There were two employees there, but the wait was so long because they were joking around the entire time. If you want good service, walk a few more blocks to the location on 36th, very friendly and quick!

I started frequenting the 5th ave. location over the summer. Love the veggie sandwich. However, service is much better at the 5th ave location. Staff didn’t want to work and were complaining to each other.

Nice Fashion District Potbelly, I’d say.

It’s definitely not like the rest of the Potbelly’s. My friend was excited to try Potbelly, so I took her to this location because it’s convenient. The line wasn’t that long and we ordered pretty quickly. It took them a very long time to actually make the sandwiches, and they seemed weirdly understaffed for a lunch rush hour. Despite going through the toaster, our sandwiches were cold and crunchy. They spent too much time accommodating one specific customer that they forgot about ours. I also didn’t ask for tomatoes, but they smothered my sandwich in them. Normally this isn’t the end of the world but the sandwich ended up feeling soggy and tasting flavorless because of it. Overall, I’m disappointed. The one on 56th st, which is right by my work, always has flavorful and hot sandwiches. It’s just weird that it isn’t consistent across stores.

Keep giving this place a chance. After the 4th time, it will be my last. The positives are that the staff are always open and honest with your questions. They are helpful when it is not too busy.(But when the line gets busy, you’d want to step aside and preview the menu items, the process flow while you figure out what you want first and then get back on). It is generally ok for a sandwich shop and its concept — very much like quiznos or subways or the likes… just toasted with all the preferences that you would want in a sandwich. By the crowd that comes in for lunch — this is a solid spot. Now — the 4th time was not a charm — brought back the sandwich to eat and then in the middle of it, I tasted something minty. Initially I thought maybe it was the herbs or something, but nooo.. the consistency became very mooshy like, almost like a gummy bear. Then when I realized something was not right — I took out the piece and noticed a piece of gum! Much to my dismay, I felt that this was not only inappropriate but also VERY weird that this would’ve happened. Mistakes happen, yes. .but this is a matter of basic human level of common knowledge and business practice. The staff person was probably chewing gum while preparing for some of the food items, who knows. But the point is, of all sandwiches, it had to be mine. So there you with this type of review.

I love potbelly sandwiches. This one seemed dirtier and didn’t serve fountain drinks.

I like Potbelly as a chain but this place ALWAYS manages to screw up my order. Twice I’ve ordered a Mediterranean w/chicken and paid for the added chicken only to NOT get any chicken??? The problem is the order taking process. I’d tell the first person I want added chicken, and assume they’d communicate to the person making it. Then the person making it always asks me whether I want cucumber, pepper blah blah blah, to which I say yes, assuming they already added the chicken between the 1st and 2nd step. I can’t see what they have put on my sandwich. So they never add the chicken but then if I say I don’t want feta cheese at this point, it would’ve already been on there. Wtf?! So EITHER let people see what you put on like Subway or write everything down like Cosi. So useless.

Ordered a chicken sandwich with cheese. Chicken had freezer burn taste. There are 2 floors of seating, freshness of a main menu item shows seats are mostly empty. The cheese was the cheap shredded kind, so scarce I couldn’t taste it, had to see it to believe it was there. Place was very empty, a friendly bum sat next to me unnoticed, so many empty seats. Some menu items don’t include chicken, meat is $ 1 extra on top of $ 6.50. Nice name, but won’t fill up a hungry guy.

Huge fan of this chain. I’ve consistently gotten very tasty sandwiches every time I’ve gone, and you have to love the price. Other pluses — GIANT, delicious pickles. Amazing cookies. Incredible pickled-hot pepper mix, free of charge. And… sunchips? I love sunchips. When in lunch-doubt, Potbelly it is.

I love eating at Potbelly and I love enjoying it the most at this location! You can always expect quick and friendly service no matter what time of the day it is or how busy they might be. Food always comes out fresh, well made, and most importantly… correct! If you’re like me and have a pretty hectic schedule during the day, then I’d highly suggest ordering online first. Extremely easy online ordering system. Pick up is literally grab and go! (PS, remember to check out their secret menu online before ordering!) Of course, don’t forget to add their famous homemade pickled peppers on top of any sandwich, and of course, to wash it all down with one of their incredible milkshakes!

Finally found a sandwich shop other than Subway. I’ve seen a few Potbelly locations around Manhattan, but I none of them are around my way so I never bothered to check it out. Now that I am working around Chelsea, I decided to give Potbelly a try and it did not disappoint! I order the grilled chicken and cheddar sandwich(with everything on it) on multi-grain bread. I’m pretty basic when it comes to sandwiches(always just lettuce, mayo and tomatoes if I’m feeling frisky), so a sandwich with everything was a huge risk. But it was so delish. They threw in jalapenos, peppers and a whole bunch of other things I would never go for. This is why it’s always good to take risks in life people, you’ll never know the outcome if you don’t. I have to try their milkshakes next.

This place is pretty awesome. I meet my girlfriend here for lunch like twice a week. Good sandwiches, soup, and service. We’re always there during a lunchtime rush so seating is sometimes an issue but I still pick this place over fresh and co.

Whoever the manager was on 8⁄4 gets a grade A! By mistake, they put mayo on my sandwich. I took it back and the manager immediately made me a new sandwich, gave me 2 free sandwich coupons and a free cookie for my trouble… thats grade A customer sevice!!!

If you like the toasted sub concept, this place does it pretty well. I got the Italian and found the meat quality to be good as well as the bread for a chain shop. The sub was very tasty, service was fast and overall a good spot for a quick and INEXPENSIVE lunch in the city.

Very toasty sandwiches. Ordering is very plain in simple. I would rather go here than subway sandwich these days. The sandwiches here are on the price average of $ 6.50 for about 10 inches long. The first time I ate the pizza sandwich was good because the person added extra marinara sauce and pepper. My second time, I had a little too much mushrooms. Overall, the sandwiches are okay here.

The sandwiches are delicious and toasted to perfection. And the cookies!!! OMG the cookies!!! They are to die for! The shakes are pretty damn good, too. My recommendations: sandwich– turkey or tuna cookie– oatmeal chocolate chip!!! shake– oreo(of course) The staff at this location are friendly and efficient. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. It’s hard to find a GOOD sandwich in the city for under $ 10. Way to go, Potbelly. Keep up the good work.

Potbelly is the gold standard of sub chains. They don’t use obviously low-grade meat like Subway and aren’t over-the-top grease and oil like Quizno’s. It’s not the French Laundry, but a simple sandwich prepared sensibly is the trusted ally of students going to class and travelers waiting for buses/planes everywhere. This location is right by FIT and the UCB Training Center, so I look forward to depending on them long into the future for well-toasted, reasonably-priced lunch/dinner.

You know Potbelly is doing well when they open up 2 locations on the same avenue, 7 streets part(the first one on 7th ave is on 37th). This place has all the Potbelly goods, including the secret menu(look online). Service is as quick as can be during the lunch rush. The seating inside is pretty congested and filled mostly with families/tourists. I’d recommend either taking your meal back to the office and or ordering online!
