Up the stairway or elevator from its non-descript 5th avenue entrance, you will find a a generic posh bar, but don’t let it fool you, this place serves one of the best fried chickens in New York. People don’t know, but Koreans love fried chicken. You can not go a block in Seoul without running past a fried chicken joint and R-bar carries this rich tradition of fried yumminess with pride. Ask to be seated in the dining area(exposed brick is a good touch) and indulge in the set of perfectly crisp and marinated set of fried chicken. Its a bit different from the variety that Baden Baden serves down the block, R-bar’s version is a true marinated fried chicken variety. Beers are reasonably priced at 6 for domestic and 8 for imports. Also another Asian gateway spot where East and West can meet over good food and company. Only drawback is that this place is loud as balls, so you have to scream across to each other. Small price to pay for some good tong-dak.
