Quality of the food is fantastic and service is top notch with reasonable prices. The open air atmosphere is inviting and comfortable.

Yummy! Solid place to get dinner/Persian food. Also, they serve halal meat, woot! We ate in once and got takeout once. Eating in was pleasant, good service and comfortable ambiance. Takeout was great, called in for pickup, which was ready in 15 mins; good amount of food and was nice and warm. They include salad and bread for takeout as well(although this may be depending on what you’re ordering) and will give you white and green sauce if you ask for it(ask for it!). We had the koobedeh(ground beef), jujeh(Cornish hen) with white rice – delish – and the stuffed pepper with ground lamb, tomato sauce and rice, which is unique and so good. Pro tip: ask for the sumak powder(dried pomegranate powder, I think) to sprinkle over your rice. Has a unique, tart-ish kinda flavor that adds so much.

Overall, good food We were happy with the main courses of chicken sultani kabob(both were done well with good flavor — the chicken barg and chicken kobideh) and salmon kabob The rice was a bit dry and flavorless-even for rice The sambuseh appetizer fresh, very hot but sort of flavorless. Would not recommend it The bread was fresh and hot Would go back Clean, deserves its A

Nice large room with much seating and a cozy feel. The warm round bread served at the beginning is good. It’s paired with a tart coriander sauce and a cool yogurt sauce with a bit of dill. The mirza gashemi, a blend of tomato, eggplant, garlic and bread was very tasty. It had a consistency reminiscent of hummus and reminded me of a warm spaghetti sauce. The beef stew was good though not a taste I really prefer. The stew had kidney beans and cooked spinach, and the beef was soft and tender. The barq kebab was delicious, the taste was excellent. The vegetables(onion, mushrooms, tomato, zucchini) were grilled. I did wish the rice was a little more flavorful, but I’m glad they didn’t use food coloring to make it more yellow. The bastani ice cream was pretty good. I think it had small chunks of frozen cream in it. The flavor of the rosewater was strong. I’ve had better bastani but I still liked it. Overall, friendly service, food came out quickly. I enjoyed my dinner here, good experience.

Huge portions of flavorful meat and rice. You will get your money’s worth out of this meal! I ordered the chicken kebab. Comes with fluffy rice, yummy and soft flat bread, salad, and grilled onion and tomato. The grilled onion and tomato are a nice aesthetic touch, but are not too appealing to eat because it’s literally ½ an onion and a whole grilled tomato on your plate. This is some good food. Ordering from here I feel like I can eat well, eat healthy, and actually afford it.

Absolutely love the food here! There are multiple locations of Ravagh across the metropolitan area. The soup was amazing and so was the kashke they used. High quality kabobs cooked to perfection. I do have to say though at the other locations their portion of rice is a little more. I came three times and was a little short at the end with my rice to kabob proportion. Saffron ice cream was good, not too sweet as I have had in the past. Great place to try authentic Persian cuisine :)

Delicious Persian food! The sambuseh and stuffed grape leave appetizers were both amazing. Had barg Kevin, the meat was delicious. Finished off with the saffron ice cream, it was excellent! Also Reasonably priced bottles of wine and great service.

Despite having a reservation, I was forced to wait nearly two hours for a table. The hosts were rude and inattentive as was the service. There was a lamb stew which was absolutely delicious, but after the terrible service, I was too turned off to complete my meal. I packed it and left.

First of all, I just want to say that I love their food. I’ve been to the one in Rosyln multiple times and uptown. However, this location really needs to improve. I went here on New Years Eve and they literally had one waiter and one bus boy working. No hostess. And they rushed us out before 10PM. But, the food was still amazing. Then, recently on a Sunday night I went here again. It was packed. No hostess to great us and tell us how long the wait would be. And ONE waiter running around tending to 10+ tables. They also had only one busboy. And, no one at the bar… Because of this the party I was with decided to leave. The East Village location really needs to improve or else they will simply lose business. Hire more people!

I’ve been ordering online for a while from Ravagh but actually walked in the front door today for the first time. Service is great and quick, the maitre d’ is actually Persian and has good recommendations. The best Persian food in town hands down. The combination grill platter is TDF. And my favorite desserts are the saffron ice cream and faloodeh. Highly recommend this place!

I cannot believe the positive reviews for the restaurant. Since there is no good Persian restaurant in NYC, we order from this location at least once a month but every time is worse than last. We ordered eggplant stew which had NO eggplant in it. The eggplant was dissolved in the stew which means the stew was at least 3days old. We also tried«soltani» which was burnt. The meat was so old that couldn’t be chewed!!! They can only get by because of the lack of competition in this city.

Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday. I had the Chicken Kobideh($ 14) which came with rice and grilled tomato. Very nice and a big portion. Food came out fast. Server was OK except he wandered off just when I wanted a check. Music was something ethnic which I liked. I had a pomegrante martini which was fine. I will stop back again. I little out of the way but reasonable prices and good food. Much better than some of the brunches I have had lately.

Paneer sabzi: fresh bits of salad herbs, radish, walnuts, and the softest yummiest feta ever! This is a salad you need in your life. Mint and watercress or tarragon substitutes for lettuce, I’m not even sure what these greens are, but they really work nicely together. Why we Americans subject ourselves to iceberg lettuce in our salads, I have no idea. And I will not stop raving about the cheese, so don’t even try to stop me. EV restaurants always have the best, freshest cheese; it seems very posh compared to the usual supermarket feta. Maybe it is some other type of cheese, but it is lighter than goat cheese or farmer cheese and seems similar to Bulgarian feta, for you feta connoisseurs out there. And these guys will never reveal their secret source! I will track it down some day :) Also yogurt, so good. Ash reshtah(noodle stew) was good, but a little bland. I personally expected the ash to be less mushy, with more depth of flavor, especially since I had understood ash to be the star of traditional Persian cooking. I was expecting some spices, not spicy per se, but some more aromatics in the stew. All the taste seemed to blend together here, and there was only one choice of ash. Maybe it was an off day, I am no expert on these sort of things. I also expected more aromatic, fruits and sweet/sour on the menu instead of many types of kebabs that are usual in all Middle eastern/Asian cooking. Who I am to tell anyone what to cook in their own restaurant, but to me, I wanted more along that line of things that I am not able to make myself, like the stewed fruits, khoresh, the fishes, etc. In the market I always would see barberry, dried limes, pomegranate sauce and other interesting ingredients and I like to savor the more tart flavors. I wish they at least would try some specials that highlight the uniqueness of this part of Persian cuisine! Obviously you must try stuffed peppers with spiced lamb instead of the usual beef/rice, and no one is complaining about the kebabs. Lots of fun desserts, try some noodle ice dessert, and the saffron ice cream was so amazing! What did I say? I SAIDTHESAFFRONICECREAMISAMAZING!!! Saffron, a beautiful, expensive spice, lends a unique flavor, not only to tah-dig(the crunchy rice from the rice pot), but to everything it is added to. Saffron, I have heard, is a natural antidepressant, I am serious. The ice cream will make you happy. You may also detect a little rose scent from the ice cream, and you are right, there is rose petal essence sprinkled on it, yum! This is one of the best parts of this cuisine, the unique scents of the food. I would encourage you to have some Turkish coffee, or traditional mint tea and sugar to contrast with the cold dessert. My pronunciation is very bad, but Nush-a jjan!(enjoy!)

You come here for the food, not the service, vibe or ambiance. The food looks and tastes like it is straight out of one of the best restaurants in Tehran. I was super impressed by the selection of authentic dishes that you can rarely find at other Iranian places(salad olvieh, ash reshteh etc). And of course, the faloodeh was to die for.

Pros: The grilled veggies are really good. The chicken is very fresh and juicy and the portions are acceptable. Everything is fresh. I will be back for sure to try their other items. I have eaten the chicken from here twice. The staff is friendly and conversational. Cons: For pickup or delivery remember that you are paying a premium for the nice interior of the place. The price is definitely high for the amount of chicken that you get here. Also, they are not very flexible with substituting items, which is a problem for me as I don’t eat carbs and don’t like it when I run into snags when trying to accomplish this rather common dieting goal. Also, since everything is made fresh for this restaurant-type establishment, it takes a while longer to get the food than your typical assembly-line style kebab place like omar’s or big arc or naya.

There was something very pleasing and warm about the environment of this intimately lit Persian restaurant, which seemed like a great fit for our Middle eastern craving. We were seated by a not so friendly restaurant manager to a table of 5, when we reserved four — but even his curt service throughout our meal could not mar the fact that the food here was outstanding. We ordered the stuffed peppers and the babaganoush for appetizers, both of which were delicate and very well flavored, served with deliciously fluffy and crispy pitas. Our entrees of lamb shish kababs and barg shish as well, were succulent, moist and maybe the best we have ever had. We also paid a very reasonable 18 $ each(with tip) for our moderately sized dinner, a bargain considering the quality of food and ambience. The One star down only because the service was not as warm or up-there as the food. But overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Popped in here for lunch on Monday, November 23rd after attempting to go to brunch at another restaurant that was closed. We were starving and the smells when we first entered Ravagh were so enticing. We ordered a few dishes to share, some appetizers and hummus, along with Turkish coffee. The hummus is the best I have ever had, I mean lick the plate clean good. The stuffed pepper with lamb was so delicious and the bread was literally cooked to order and so delicious. Service was wonderful and the owner(maybe?) came to our table to check and see how we were doing, which was nice. I was so pleased with our accidental lunch! We will be back when we are in NY soon, wish you were in CA! I would eat here every week :)

Came here for dinner around 9pm and was pretty impressed with the experience. I was craving Koobideh and Ravagh had some rave reviews. My friend and I ordered the Koobideh Kebab and Barg Kebab platters. The Barg was great, flavorful and tender and juicy. The Koobideh was also pretty good, though the texture was not quite as tender as I’ve had at some other places. Nonetheless, both these meats were great and well-prepared. The platter also comes with an ample serving of soft fresh basmati rice, and a grilled tomato and onion. Make sure to sprinkle some sumac on the meat and rice to bring out the full flavor. The service here was great! The servers were all friendly and the perfect mix of attentive but not bothersome. The food was served hot and in a timely fashion, even though most of the restaurant was pretty full. The ambiance was also pretty nice, dim but not so dark you couldn’t read the menu or see your food companions’ faces. Overall, dining at Ravagh was an enjoyable and delicious experience and I would definitely recommend you visit this establishment if you’re looking for some authentic and delicious Persian food.

In Atlanta, I ate Persian at least once a month, due to a delicious spot some friends and I frequented not terribly far for a weekend excursion. Since moving to New York, time and location have not been on my side in finding a Persian place. Thankfully, post-off-Broadway-play-with-the-bestie, she suggested Persian, and we set off our own journal down to East Village, where I am infamous for getting brunch and bubble tea. We started with the traditional kashk bademjan, an eggplant spread served with naan. The same flavor as my old go-to but a slightly different texture; either way, delicious and no complaints! Next up: beef barg and koobideh. We were asked how we wanted it cooked — never been asked before, so we asked what they recommended. Their suggestion of medium well seemed… too cooked? so we opted for medium, which I believe was the proper choice, because the barg came out incredibly tender and full of flavor. The saffron rice comes with tomato and onion for you to use as you please(I suggest mixing the tomato in the rice). There’s a healthy serving of rice, and it’s light and fluffy, and not very oily(both a good and bad thing — I appreciate the less oil from a health perspective; my friend would’ve liked a bit more oil in it). Oh — back to the barg — full of flavor, tender, mostly cut for easy eating, definitely a must-try. A++. The koobideh was good, but not the best I’ve ever had, though my friend and I couldn’t place why — it had good flavor, it was tender, but. There’s some improvement that could have been made to make it perfect, I just can’t place it, and as it was, it was still very delicious and something I would order again — but definitely medium, not medium well. Aside from that, the staff is very polite and attentive. Authentic place, cute on the inside with enough seating to not feel cramped but also feel cozy. A must-try.

With a useless group of most mentioned words/phrases, went with a just-fine Chicken Koobideh Kebob(Lunch) $ 12.00 Two skewers of juicy chopped chicken flavored with saffron. and Grilled Vegetables from this chain(4 locations as of this review). Sidewalk sign boasted an $ 8 sandwich, which I only noticed because I had to wait 27 minutes AFTERARRIVING quite a bit after PLACING a PICKUP order.

#Lamb Shank! Love it when you add the white and green sauces they bring you. Gives you that sour and creamy #Persian flavor. #On the menu outside the restaurant, it does say the Lamb Shank is $ 14 lunch and $ 16 dinner. But when you go inside, it says $ 19 written on the dinner menu. I went there on a weekend during lunch and was given the dinner menu. So I think the lunch menu is only on weekdays. Got it? It was $ 19.

For the appetizer, we ordered the humus and babaganoosh. Both tasted good and the texture was perfect to eat with the pita bread that they served. However, both could’ve used more seasoning. The babaganoosh also had this very strong smoky or grilled taste to it. I also tried a bit of my friend’s traditional kashk-bademjan. I would definitely opt for this as the appetizer next time instead. It was much more flavorful and mouth-licking. For the entrée, I ordered Lamb Chops Kebab. Portion size was pretty large. The lamb chops were a bit overcooked were medium rare. However, the meat was still tender and juicy. I opted for the grilled vegetables instead of the basmati rice. And boy, I am glad I did. All of my other friends were having trouble finishing cause they had so much to eat. Nonetheless, the vegetables were all perfectly grilled. They were soft, juicy, and had the natural sweetness and taste of the veggies. Service was also pretty up there at Ravagh. Even though our group of 8 took a while to order since we had to wait for 2 people for quite a while, they weren’t impatient and gave us time. They also refilled our cups pretty frequently.

Came here with gal pals on a weekday night — plentiful seating available, and great service as well. Appetizer — I liked the babaganoosh which is a eggplant paste with garlic you dip with bread. The Dolmeh(rice stuffed in grape leaves) was interesting, although it was my first time having it. Entrees– We tried just almost every meat kebab dish — chicken, beef, lamb, salmon. The beef was popular one amongst the table and I would def. get the beef again. DONOT recommend the STEW — beef in particular was hard for us to finish. Accepts CREDITCARD, great service.
