Red Mango

This place is great! Their peanut butter/​banana smoothie is perfect. The staff is also very polite and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Quick trip to NYC. RM was new to us but very good.

The staff at Red Mango in Chelsea was beyond horrible. To start, upon my arrival, I was not greeted with a simple ‘hello,’ rather an angry face that screamed ‘I hate my job.’ Then, as I proceeded to ask for sample cups, the woman rolled her eyes and handed me one at a time, seeming almost reluctant to allow samples. Then, after purchasing the yogurt, I was then handed the cup which fell through my fingers to the ground and landed in a yogurt explosion. The cashier stared at the mess, pointed to the napkins, and immediately fled the scene to the back room. Not only did he make a customer clean up the mess, he didn’t offer a new yogurt. No one go to this red mango.

Normal Red Mango. The layout of the store is a little weird, but the service was nice and the products offered are just like any other Red Mango (which is a good thing). Perfect for a hot day in New York, which are really about to start.

Worst customer service ever. The cashier purposefully tried to short me. I handed her a $ 20 for a purchase a bit over $ 3. She hands me back some coins, slowly takes out the bills, and rolls them up. Weird, right? I unroll them before walking away from the register and see that I’ve been shorted $ 1. I asked her what was the price? Wasn’t it $ 3??? She didn’t act surprised when she fished out another bill and handed it over with no comment or apology.
The intentionality of her actions were very unsettling. Moral of the story: Count your change. Crooks work here!

Very good service. I went in one afternoon for a smoothie and the lady at the counter had no problem telling me what was inside and if I wanted to add anything into it. Overall a nice clean place.

The worst Red Mango I have been to (and I’ve probably been to a good 10 of them).
Yogurt is horrible. They only had 5 or 6 flavors when I went (instead of the usually 8+) and they didn’t even taste good. The ones I had were bitter and not flavorful; they tasted nothing like froyo.
Customer service is horrible. Only one guy was working and he looked like he really didn’t wanna be there. I asked for tasting cups and I felt like I was bothering him. Then I gave him my rewards card which he didn’t swipe, so I handed it to him again and asked him to, and he seemed to get annoyed. He pretended to swipe it but I know he didn’t because the points never went on my account.
Only cool thing about them is they have soup.
I suggest walking another 6 blocks or so to Food Gallery 32 between Broadway and 5^th, which has Red Mango among other places to eat. That location had flavors I have never seen (such as blueberry and green tea).

This Red Mango location has excellent service. The place was clean and people who work there has excellent attitude towards customers.

Decent frozen yogurt with friendly staff. Usually the line is short (if there is even a line). Inside is clean as is the bathroom. Must give red mango card before purchase for the discount.

More than a regular here since my school is so close to it. The girl who works here is super sweet. Quick no line at all.
One of the guys on the other hand… if I ever see him working the cashier I will purposely walk back out and not have any red mango that day… just for the reason that I came in one time getting froyo with my $ 5 reward and because it was under $ 5 he gave me this stank face and attitude that it wasn’t enough. And then was it was enough I wanted to pay the difference and then commented that my balance was so small. Uh… I am more than qualified to get my reward… just give me my froyo and stop with the smart comments.

Keeping it short, I love Red Mango way more all other chain Fro Yo spots.

Typical Red Mango location — usually fairly quiet on the weekdays so you can easily get a sample tasting.

This is normally a frozen yogurt spot, but they have incorporated a great selection of healthy juices and smoothies which they make on the spot.
I decided to try the Power Green Juice which pretty much all the ingredients were green. It included kale, spinach, parsley, cucumber, green apple and lemon. I’m not sure if I’m missing and ingredient or two, but it was pretty tasty. You can always request a power shot added to your juice which is the powder protein.
The only thing was that the juice was not cold enough. It actually seemed room temperature. Maybe they should’ve included ice in it since it was pretty hot out and I expected a very nice cold healthy drink.
I will definitely be back to try another juice but will suggest some ice in mine.

Meh… After having 16 handles, this spot doesn’t do it for me. During the polar vortex which passed this past winter, on one of the less extreme days. my boyfriend and I wanted 16 handles, but they were all closed bc of the wintry mix falling from the sky. and I’m sure my boyfriend and I were the only psychos fiending ice cream!
Alas, we came to this red mango location bc they were open. Their available flavors were okay, the toppings are okay. Overall, it was okay. Their flavors are decent, nothing special to me. Same with their toppings, I feel like they are always missing something (this day, they didn’t have caramel sauce or marshmallows)
There were only 2 other people at this location, but one of them was eating fast-​food (i think it was mickey d’s) and I thought that was weird. It WAS snowing and sleeting a bit that day, so I ignored it.
Overall, I don’t think I will come back to red mango. Even if all the 16 handles are closed bc of a snowpocolypse.

Red Mango has a Unilocal problem, falling away in search since it seems to be mentioned too much in the reviews of other FroYo shops. This relatively new space is a self-​serve location that’s poorly designed and unintuitive (and soup… why?). Tried the Chocolate sorbet (gimme a break), the taro, PB, cake batter, and one more I can’t recall since it wasn’t memorable. This shizz was pricey, at $ 6.50 with no toppings ($ 1.50 after deducting the $ 5 bday credit on my RM card). Staff was friendly while working on one already-​broken machine.

Red Mango… why can’t you keep the temperature of your yogurt a bit cooler? The yogurt was kinda melted as soon as I put it in my cup. It’s supposed to be frozen yogurt, not liquid yogurt. :(

You can sample the flavors… but peanut butter is the best!
They have mochis and red mango balls that explode in your mouth. Cheaper then pink berry and its self serve. Very clean and friendly at this location. I am now officially a red mango club member. :)

Have to be completely honest, when I first heard of Red Mango, I immediately thought «Oh look… it’s another Pinkberry knock-​off.» Bias against their frozen yogurt, I usually only purchased their peanut butter and banana smoothie. However, it was until that fateful day where it was so hot, that I need something cool and refreshing for lunch. Red Mango had slapped me right in the face, HELLLLLOOOOOOOOO FROYO!!!
They have a wide selection of flavors that are on rotation all year round. Right now, my seasonal favorite is white peach. Just as the label says, it’s tart and tangy and not too sweet at all. Red Mango is also significantly cheaper than its competitors, and they do not compromise their quality in the process. Why wouldn’t you want something sooooo delicious, healthy and not too taxing on your pockets? Just go in and pile on the toppings sky high and don’t forget your vanilla wafer, nothing is more satisfying than this. :-)

The 16 Handles experience, but cleaner.
This brand new Red Mango location opened up within the past few days and despite being in the neighborhood I only had a chance to check it out earlier today. While the 90 degree heat is a good enough excuse, I did have a few initial hesitations based on my prior Red Mango/​Pink Berry experiences. I’ve always felt they were missing the DIY fun factor and more interesting flavors offered by 16 Handles. Nonetheless, this franchise proves they’re taking notes and adopting to the DIY model, and doing it well.
I tried the suger-​free (Stevia) dark chocolate, mint cookie, and creamy coconut. The dark chocolate was over-​powering, but the mint cookie far surpassed the fake tasting 16 Handles «Irish Mint» and still managed to be gluten-​free compared the the gluten-​full 16 Handles «Thin Mint» flavor. The creamy coconut was equally incredible. Topping selection is the same as 16 Handles, and while vast, the selection has become typical across fro-​yo shops.
The store is spacious, could use a little more oomph in terms of coziness, but most importantly the store is spotless. The extra staffers make sure to keep everything incredible clean and sanitary. Little details like having the staff serve you free samples, and fixing the topping spoons after each use, really make a difference. We’ll see if the cleanliness can keep up with the oncoming summer crowds, but in the meantime, it’s awesome. Last but not least, they also offer a loyalty card with the same benefits as 16 Handles. $ 5 credit for every $ 50 spent.

I was in the area for dinner and came here because of Armand’s review. Sugar free dark chocolate? Def intrigued.
I like the 16-​Handles-​esque approach — give me some sample cups and trust me to be an adult. There are no colleges around here (see 16 Handles near Columbia for what not to do), no one is going to take obscene advantage of this.
Tried the dark chocolate sorbetto. omg. It was much creamier than expected for a dairy-​free froyo flavor. All the other sorbet flavors I’ve tried had that icy texture — not this one. It reminded me of the 75% and above cacao dark chocolate bars where you can taste the grittiness of the chocolate without the overt sugar mixed in.
Sadly when my friend and I were about to buy some of the dark chocolate for real, they just ran out for the day!
4 stars despite this — I will be back. Red Mango just upped the froyo ante for chocolate lovers.
