This was the best steak I’ve ever eaten in my life! I had a sirloin steak and it tasted absolutely beautiful. We also had the fries, asparagus and mushrooms. The mushrooms tasted amazing. I really enjoyed the asparagus too, however my brother thought they were slightly oily. From start to finish we had amazing customer service, even from the lady who checked our coats! The servers were very attentive and we were seated in the back room which had a really nice, relaxed vibe. I will definitely return here in the future — delicious!

I’ve been to a lot of steakhouses around NYC and this one isn’t one of the best I’ve been to. I’m not sure I’d come again. While I loved the Canadian bacon appetizer — it was seared well and had great flavor, not to mention super tender. The steak was tender as well but not as flavorful as I expected. The creamed spinach was great but I’ve never been to a steakhouse that has bad creamed spinach. The lobster mac and cheese was okay. I had the apple strudel for dessert and it wasn’t very good. The pastry was soggy, which was disappointing. Service was okay, maybe I came on an off night since everyone else is raving about it. Our waiter was nice enough to point out I had ordered a little too much initially(I had wanted 3 sides instead of 2) but was pretty much non-existent the rest of the night(except to serve once and to give me the check). I had to flag down people to have them fill my water. It wasn’t a full restaurant so I’m not sure what happened.

This steakhouse had the best service I’ve ever experienced. Our waiter was extremely forthcoming about their most delicious dishes & was right on all accounts. I will definitely be back to this steakhouse! Definitely get the JUMBO shrimp cocktail, steak, creamed spinach, and cheesecake!

When we came on a Thursday night there were ~3 larger parties, one of at least 40 and two of roughly 20. So it was a pretty challenging situation for the waitstaff trying to keep up with all those people, but they didn’t handle it super well. Took 15 minutes beyond our reservation time to get seated, 10 minutes to get water and a menu, and no apology or acknowledgment of the wait. I guess your mileage may vary depending on what else is going on? As for the food — * bread was very plain and would have benefited from warming; butter was too cold * crab cake was overcooked * caesar salad — croutons tasted prepackaged * filet mignon — good but not great. They got the temperature right, but the steak and preparation were unremarkable We made a very similar order at BLT Prime down the street earlier this month and had a much better experience and meal. Also it was super loud in there due to the large groups, again not really their fault but also something to consider.

Put this on your list of must go’s. I will put this up against any steakhouse in NYC. Food, service ambiance they have it all. Make sure you have a drink at the bar with Jac(best bartender in NYC).

The general manager and staff were great. I had the ribeye and my friends had the strip. all 3 were cooked to perfection and the sides were awesome(broccoli, mushrooms and lobster mac(mac was 7⁄10). The venue was nice and spacious which is as added bonus in NYC. Definitely be back again.

Fantastic New York steakhouse. T bone was sublime. Rocco’s has an Italian flair to the steakhouse classics, so he Chicken Parm was a nice addition to the steakhouse fair. The chopped salad was incredible and I want to go back just for it alone. Service is great and the ambiance is lively but not terribly loud.

New steakhouse worth a try. Ribeye was 5 stars, extremely well marbled, tasty yet not too much fat. Mashed potatoes aren’t my usual but was craving them and they didn’t disappoint. Sat at the bar, great service. Great wine and bourbon selection. Only thing I would improve is the bread, it was served cold with butter hard as a rock. Nice warm bread with melted butter is so key to the overall steakhouse experience. I will certainly go back and try it again. Was there on a Monday night, didn’t have a reservation and got right in.

Phenomenal new steakhouse! For starters, does anyone know how difficult is to find the brand«1792» bourbon by Ridgemont Reserve in a bar??? Very difficult these days. Not at Rocco. It’s the one of the first bottles I noticed at their massive bar. So before even being seated, I was already impressed. These guys know the right liquors to carry. The staff are super attentive and friendly. There’s always someone there the moment you need them. And clearly Rocco spared no expense in designing the venue. Super high ceilings and lots of high quality wood décor everywhere make you feel like you’re in an upscale lodge in Napa or Oregon. Very tasteful. The food? Just cooked to perfection. We had a few strips of the Canadian bacon. Excellent. Plus the fresh mozzarella and tomatoes, also excellent. I personally had the filet mignon. It was the best I have had in a long time. I’d argue that it rivals the filet at Del Frisco’s, and I love that place. I’d recommend the peppercorn sauce with the filet. My buddies shared a massive 34 oz. Tomahawk ribeye. Superb flavor and texture. Also, try the creamed spinach. So good. They’ve got a great wine list to go along with the food as well. There’s something for both the thrifty and ballers :-) If you like full bodied and spicy wines with your meats, you cannot go wrong with the Penfold’s. Overall, a 5 star experience and meal. I’ll be back many times to Rocco.

What? I left a NYC steakhouse without being rushed? That’s right! Came here on a busy Saturday evening with my husband and 2 of our friends, from the moment we walked in the door we were greeted with smiles and treated like family. It was wonderful having Henry as our professional, kind, funny waiter. Henry made us feel relaxed and took great care of us even when he had so many others to serve and satisfy — he even recommended a great drink for me which did not disappoint! Ok now to the food: Appetizer: we had had the chilled seafood tower, this was Fresh and delicious! Dinner: my husband and I had the porterhouse for 2– we asked for medium rare and got medium rare. We devoured this carcass in 15 minutes. This was Steak Heaven!!! Our friends had the rib eye and lamb chops and they loved every bite. Sides: spinach creamed– tasted just like rich spinach cream and not like baby food which you get in many«upscale» steakhouses German potatoes– to die for! Crunchy on the outside– soft and buttery and divine on the inside We didn’t have any room in our belly for dessert, but we got to finish our drinks and chit chat about our delicious meals without being stared down too and rushed by waiters and staff. NYC steakhouses can be very intimidating but the staff at Rocco’s make you feel right at home where you can enjoy a conversation without being rushed or having to yell and scream. Oh and did I mention the décor is absolutely amazing! So glad Im a hop and a skip away from this steakhouse! Can’t wait to return again and again! Thank you Rocco’s for a lovely and Relaxed evening! Can’t wait to go back…

Great space, great food and great service! Went there for the first time this evening and really loved it. We were a group of 4 and shared a porterhouse, lamb chops, crab cakes, Rocco’s salad, tuna tartare, bacon and a bit too much wine! It was all excellent. Absolutely recommend if you are looking for a great place!

Absolutely amazing. This area was in need of a steakhouse, and we couldn’t have been luckier to end up with Rocco’s. The food is truly delicious and the wine list is even better. We shared a steak, tuna tartar, crab cakes, the sizzling bacon(SOGOOD), a side of the broccoli and I give everything a 10. The steak was so tender and the Rocco’s steak sauce they serve is really good. I would buy a bottle if they sold it. The servers and bartenders are incredibly nice guys too. We’ve gone a few times now and we’re starting to feel like family. It’s hard to find an upscale steakhouse in Manhattan that makes you feel so casual and at home. Looking forward to round 4 at Rocco’s.

So some of the guys from an established steakhouse chain decided to go out and do it their way not too far away. This is a beautiful restaurant with all the amenities. Grass fed beef, wonderful alternatives to steak. A great lunch menu and a group of owners who personally greet their patrons. The usual ridiculously wide array of single malts, vodkas and tequilas and a beautiful bar to enjoy them at. Unique? Besides the food? You can actually hear yourself here. Not the typical blaring loud steakhouse where you have to scream just to ask for another drink. Try this place before everyone in the neighborhood gets on line in front of you.

Rocco Steakhouse overall score: 85 I was recently invited to a press dinner here at Rocco Steakhouse, which is new to the NYC steak scene. Rocco Trotta, the namesake of this joint, is an entrepreneur whose construction management and engineering firm contributed to such projects as High Line Park, the 7 subway extension, and the post-9/11 rebuilding of lower Manhattan. Given his hand in the preservation and building of those landmark NYC sites, he decided to create a new kind of NYC landmark — a steakhouse — as few remain from the old guard: Luger’s, Keen’s, Delmonico’s, Gallagher’s, Wolfgang’s… Speaking of Wolfgang’s, Rocco actually began his foray into the hospitality biz there, where he connected with current partners Pete Pjetrovic(General Manager) and Jeff Kolenovic(Beverage Director). Even Executive Chef Johnny Jevric has a Wolfgang’s pedigree: Johnny actually has more than 20 years of experience at NYC restaurants, but for the past 10 he was the Executive Chef at Wolfgang’s. Clearly these guys know what they’re up to when it comes to steakhouses. They even made sure to staff Rocco Steakhouse with employees that had no less than 10 years of experience at top NYC steakhouses, like Henry Doda(Head Waiter and Sommelier), who also worked at Wolfgang’s under the same title for 10 years. That’s awesome! Okay so let me get on to the food now… Flavor: 8 My wife and I shared a 34oz tomahawk rib eye. This was an absolutely gorgeous cut of meat. This fucker was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Nice and pink. It came to us after it had cooked and rested a bit, and there was absolutely no bleed-out on the bottom of the plate. The temperature was a bit colder than I usually like, but I’d rather have a well-rested and«not hot» steak than a hot steak that is still releasing its juices after being cut/while its being eaten. The majority of the chop was the eye portion. There was very little fat cap, which was unfortunate(that tender and flavorful fatty ridge that encircles many cuts of rib eye). And as you can see below, there was a slight bit more sear on one side than the other(the grey edge on the right is thicker than the left), but it didn’t change anything in terms of the flavor quality. The meat was juicy, sweet, savory, funky and delicious! The only downside was that it was slightly under seasoned, but I chalk a lot of that up to the fact that this was such a thick steak. The edges had great flavor and seasoning in the crust. It just didn’t get too deep into the center of the meat. Another thing worth pointing out here was that the steak tasted really great when smeared with some creamed spinach and/or some of the house steak sauce. Each item added the seasoning into the steak that I was craving. The steak sauce wasn’t as big of a hit with my wife and I on its own. However it certainly made sense with the steak, which is odd for me because I typically don’t like steak sauce on my steak, near my steak, or even in the same fucking ROOM as my steak. It was a tomato and horseradish based sauce that was similar to a cocktail sauce but with a bit more balls from the molasses and sweeter elements. Choice of Cuts & Quality Available: 9 Everything here is USDA prime, and dry-aged on site in the restaurant’s aging box. They’ve got all four of the main cuts here, but with some nice flourishes to them: porterhouse(for two or more), two varieties of rib eye(regular and a 34oz tomahawk chop), NY strip/sirloin and two cuts of filet(one with a bone and one without). Portion Size & Plating: 8 Portions here are on par with all major NYC steakhouses. Plating is basic and elegant: no over-the-top unnecessary garnishes, no insanely elegant art pieces. The plating allows you to get right down to business and I like that. Price: 8 Since this was a press dinner, I didn’t have to pay. The prices seem to be fair and on par with most steakhouses, averaging about $ 50 per chop. I thought the bone-in filet was a bit pricey when I noticed it at close to $ 60, but that item is likely significantly larger than a typical filet mignon cut. Also worth mentioning here: Del Frisco’s offers a 32oz wagyu tomahawk for the same price as the 34oz tomahawk offered here. So for $ 95 you can get that wagyu tomahawk, which I consider to be one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten, while just losing two meager ounces in trade off. Something to consider… Bar: 9 The bar is a nice U-shaped set-up, and it is situated beside large floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook Madison Avenue. There’s also a nice stone accent wall that gives the room a classic vibe. This is definitely a good place to hang out, as both the bar and restaurant were well-attended on a Tuesday after work. The cocktail list is distinctively classic American, which I love. The martini was good too, mixed up nice and cold. Review cut for length…
