Rooms In the City

I cosign most of what the first reviewer said. MY situation — I was moving on a whim from out of state, and needed a place to crash. The benefit of renting the room, it is month to month, and I didn’t have a job (got one later). Didn’t get much of a hassle from Harry about renting– easy breezy. One month turned into one year… I don’t know how I made it, but I will never live like that again.
The room itself was nice. I had two windows (thank GOD) some of the other rooms do not. It came equipped with a dresser a table and a mirror I had adequate closet space and room to store alot of boxes. The bed was comfortable. So I spent most of my time either outside or in my room.
I was the only female in the buliding. God kept his protective hands over me, because the men were nice, and they never bothered me. I never bothered them. We minded our own business.
Why I give two stars…
The kitchen, I NEVER used — not even the fridge. Roaches, dirty dishes, and rotted food in the fridge. I was on the Jared diet and ate at Subway everyday lol!
The bathroom was gross… I was always armed with clorox spray and I invested in a new shower curtain, towel, hooks and air freshner to spruce it up and try and make it livable. Mold problem then probably the worst now. Oh and sharing with 5 –7 other men was not fun. 2^nd Floor bathwas totally jacked up over time and that was originally nicer than the 1^st floor.
The heat… Like I said thank God I had windows! Then there were times the heat was shut off.
Electricity was faulty– we were without electric for two days on NYE, that was a nightmare
I never got my deposit back. I called multiple times and the lady kept saying «Harry will call you back.» I’m still waiting for that call…, but whatever — the shelter served it’s purpose.
My suggestion to you is rent thru airbnb.

Absolutely horrific service. They will do absolutely anything to trick you into taking one of their awful rooms. I needed to find a place asap and stupidly took a room with them without seeing it first. I trusted the description they gave me — they said it was a buidling of students and young professionals, that the building is cleaned once weekly, I would be sharing a bathroom with 2 others, and that there was free wifi. Once I moved in, I realized the building was full of a mixture of very old people and seedy people, they buidling was utterly filthy, trash everywhere, utter disgrace. The cleaning lady came once every TWO weeks, which was a nightmare because one day after she came, the bathrooms were horrendous, due to the careless disgusting people living there, I was sharing my bathroom with FIVE others, and the wifi DIDN’T connect. Also the room was tiny and cost an absolute FORTUNE! I payed them a 1 month rent brokers fee, and when I asked them if I could move to a room on another floor (because the bathroom and shower on mine were unbearable), they attempted to charge me another months rent as a broker fee to switch rooms!!! 2 people in the office — Sharon and Harry — totally shady, dishonest, awful people. Do not use their service, I promise for the outrageous price of the rooms and the enormous broker fee, you will find something better!!!
