Came here for NYE, and had mixed feelings. As we walked in, bag check was mandatory, which is fine… But if I’m going to be paying for my coat to be checked, take care of it! I got my coat back at the end of the night, and it looked like a stripper drag queen had been wearing it all night as it was doused in gold glitter. The music was ehh, and the bartenders weren’t the most social beings on the earth, but my biggest gripe was: How does a bar run out of liquor? Sure, it was NYE, and people were out in full effect… But you sold tickets for an open bar on NYE and ran out of liquor? I don’t get it.

When did mandatory coat check become a thing??? The music was good and vibe was generally alright, but really? Mandatory coat check when it’s 8 degrees Fahrenheit outside and FREEZINGCOLD inside!!! This article pretty accurately sums up the coat check horrors I faced at Salon de Lafayette last Friday. Thanks, but no thanks. I’ll be heading elsewhere next time.

I had been searching for a spot for months to party for my dirty 30. I came across this place and decided to look into it. I worked with a promotor and was able to score a table. Since Terrance Howard is a co-owner, I assumed that this place would be poppin. We arrived at 1am… which is usually when the night in NYC should just be beginning. The place was empty… literally. There was 1 couple dancing, a hostess, a bartender, a dj and 3 other patrons and a security guard… wtf…the place is small but nice inside and the dj was on point. We left after downing the free champagne and complimentary patron shots that came with my table purchase. I might come back if I also bring 30 – 40 people with me lol

It only gets 2 stars because it’s decorated very nice and the food is decent. Service and drinks were absolutely horrible. Sat ourselves, ordered food and drinks. Drinks came 20 minutes later. After 45 minutes we had to ask what happened to the food and it still came 20 minutes after that. Once it came, we realized we didn’t have any utensils. I have braces so I need to cut the food up. After trying to get someone’s attention to bring utensils for almost 10 minutes I gave up cause I was hungry and the food was already lukewarm. I got my hands a mess by tearing the food up with my fingers so I could eat. When I was done, of course… no napkins. Could not get anyone’s attention so I walked to the bar for napkins. When the waitress brought the bill she had charged me regular price for wine that I specifically ordered from the happy hour menu. In fact the only menu we were given was the one with happy hour specials. I pointed to it on the menu when I ordered it. In fact after she took our order she never came back again until we hunted her down for the bill. I had to ask another person who I don’t even think was a waiter about the food, and he brought it out. Just a mess from start to finish. And don’t ever use the bathroom it’s a sauna and a death trap.

man, i cannot say enough BAD things about this place. seriously. We were there for a private event which we paid quite a bit of money for. Where to start… hmmm. top ten reasons not to go here and why this place sucks 1) the beers were warm, we actually watch them put them on ice 3 minutes before the open bar started. 2)They didn’t even have good beer – coors light, miller and heineken as the only choice. come on. 3) there was no A/C in the middle of summer 4) The bathrooms had no soap or towels, even after repeatedly asking 5) The appetizers were expensive and tasted TERRIBLE. no salt in the guac, the tortilla chips broke when trying to scoop a bit. 6) The actual entrees were not only cold, but tasted as if it were frozen, thawed and then served. I don’t even think the chicken was chicken. 7) in the middle of speeches a server walked right through the area where someone was speaking and asked her to move so he could put the food down??? WHAT??? 8) We had a contract until 11 pm. At 9:30 the asshole with the tattoos on his neck told us we had to be out by 10 pm so another party could come in. Sorry buddy, but you were then overheard talking about how you wanted you hipper people in the bar as soon as possible. don’t think there was a private party\ 9) The management sucks, and actually let people in from the street to crash the party. 10) The guy with the tattoos on his neck, who apparently thinks he is truly god’s gift to manhattan was possible the biggest d-bag i have met. I am sure there are more horrible things to say about this place, but honestly I would rather forget and never go back. YOUSHOULDNOTGOEITHER.

We went to Salon de Lafayette for a work event and had two tables to ourselves. It’s a small restaurant, and has very interesting and upscale décor. There is an exclusive feel to it. After getting drinks at the bar, we all sat, starving for some food. My table was 6 – 7 people, and they kept bringing us one plate at a time of appetizers. With each plate having 3 – 4 pieces of stuff, it just created an awkward situation for all of us, especially since they were so slow to bring out food for us! We were sitting there cutting tacos and steak and plantains into 2 – 3 pieces so we could all eat, and I was honestly embarrassed about making our guests eat like birds. Why couldn’t they have factored in how many people were there and brought out enough food on one plate, or just brought out 2 – 3 plates for us. It just made me think they were either being stupid or cheap. We were so hungry midway through the night that I had to get up and ask the waiter to bring us food, please! Food was absolutely delicious. I just wish we got to have more of it when we were hungry for it. But it just made me feel like the waiters didn’t care about us or forgot about us, which left a bad taste in my mouth.

came here for a party brunch. music was great! food was excellent but small portions so you may want to consider ordering 2 of your mains because again it taste really good but you’ll leave hungrier than when you came in. We shared(maybe that was the problem. don’t share) the steak & eggs, salon burger, chicken & french toast… all was devoured like wild beasts. Service, um yea, they need some help here. We asked for a side of fries and was told they can’t do that when it’s busy… what? I’m sure you will reconsider this when you’re no longer«busy» for not accommodating your guests with such a small request. Service, umm again, they really need to stick their heads out the door and notice all the other storefronts going out of business. We also asked for a cocktail from their cocktail menu and was told that cocktail menu is only valid when they’re not busy. Ok. noted will come back for great service when you’re not busy. Thank you!

Saw the great reviews of this place and was excited to visit. The place was just okay and the drinks were wayyyyyy overpriced. I can get more alcohol in my drink at a club! There were barely any people in there on a Saturday night so we made a few requests to the DJ on behalf of the birthday girl. The DJ was too into himself to care and continued to play the music that HE wanted. Get over yourself! I wouldn’t come back…

Salon de Lafayette is a cool place if you want to hang out in Soho. The atmosphere is cool and the staff is nice too. I go there yesterday night for a private party: «work hard, Play Hard, Give Hard»: and just let say; it was awesome. For a drink it a 12 $ approximately for a glass of white wine which is not bad for NY. Hope my review might help you in a way.

The food was fantastic. 5 of us met up here for dinner last night and we ordered just about everything on the menu. Can honestly say we were happy with everything that came out of the kitchen. Our favorite was probably the Short Rib, which was tender and juicy, cooked to perfection. Other highlights were the octopus, pumpkin ravioli, and believe it or not fried oreo cookies for dessert(I’m actually embarrassed by how much I liked them). Ambiance was also good, place had a nice feel with solid décor and most importantly good background tunes that didn’t overpower your ability to speak to one another in a normal voice. Also enjoyed the bar area by the entrance, plenty of space to hang out and socialize while waiting for your friends to show up(sometime for hours… you know who you are!). Big thumbs up, especially given they haven’t even had their grand opening yet.

Such a great spot for Dinner, hh or for drinks! My fiancé and I recently had dinner and drinks here after work and we were pleasantly surprised given that it’s a new spot. I usually never get cocktails, but I decided to give it a try and they were really good! Service was great also. Def. will go back!

Went for our annual secret Santa/reunion dinner last night and had a great time! Loved the décor and the ambiance was good. Loved that there was parking in front. free after 7pm on weekdays! Now to the food! We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered, but the few that were most memorable was the beef short rib(fall off the bone tender), octopus salad, fried pumpkin ravioli, and the fish taco. When ordering keep in mine that the plates are small, so you might want to order two or more depending on your party. I am definitely looking forward to making another trip out there!

SDL is an amazing new spot in Soho. I actually worked with the group to throw a surprise engagement party here for my now fiancé. They were incredibly accommodating and made the night very special for us. The staff is very friendly and made sure we were taken care of. I will definitely be returning for a sit down dinner. More to come!

Went last night to catch up with some old friends and the vibe was incredible. Great décor, drinks, crowd, music and the food was great. Definitely a good place to go hang out for any occasion. Whether dinner, drinks and/or a little dancing. Definitely a must if you’re in the Soho area. Will be returning.
