This joint is allowing a bunch of neo-Nazi bands to play there tonight. Do some research into the NYC Oi Fest and boycott this venue.

AWFUL. Venue is hosting Oi Fest for the second year in a row. Supporting white supremacists, Neo Nazis, Fascists and giving them to make money and making money off of them, amplifying their voices, AWUL. Fascism is not cool, supporting white supremacy is not about having a good time! Do not support this venue! Do not perform here! #AntiFa

I can’t give them a low enough rating for hosting a fascist/Neo Nazi concert. This group was even kicked out of their original venue for their bigotry(imagine a group seig heiling to songs calling immigrants trash and spouting homophobic lyrics). Either this venue agrees with their ideology or they are willing to sell themselves for the highest price. If you value your own safety and human life in general, don’t go here!

Terrible venue!!! Mandatory coat check for apparently SOME not ALL. Rude staff! However they did charge me a mandatory gratuity of $ 13 for my drinks of my tab! Drinks were WAY over priced, and terribly made. If you think you’re getting in free before 12 by showing up at 11(which is the time they open) think again. They hold you in the line so that way you have to pay. The only thing that was good was the music but every other aspect was so terrible it’s not worth EVEREVER going to another party here again.

Never in my life have I encountered such an inconsiderate staff. I attended a costume party, stepped outside shirtless, and they would *not* let me back in to get my shirt. I had to take the subway without a shirt. Fuck anyone related to this place. Stay in rather than going to this dump.

This place sucks. $ 20 to come an event that starts late. The audio engineer sucks to the point where the musics too low and the vocals are too high or vice versa. Then you dnt let an artist perform 2 more songs cause its time to close and some of the performers put up an addtional $ 250 for 1 additional hour and u didnt really even give that. Is this NYC or Oklahoma. Bad business right there. Im only giving 2 stars cause one of the bartenders was hella fine to look at. Otherwise. Bunk a– venue.

This is the worst venue I have ever been to. Doors were at 6:30, and they didn’t finish getting the line in until almost 8:30. Why, you ask? Mandatory coat check– where they then forced you to pay $ 4 for.(Of course, they didn’t take credit cards so if you were cashless you had to pay the fees at the ATM.) The bar was just as bad. $ 8 for a small drink, which is fairly normal at concerts, but the whiskey was definitely watered down and I’m pretty sure they subbed nail polish remover for vodka. 3 drink minimum for a credit card, which is NOT standard at concerts. On top of that, the bartender insisted I ordered some beer(which it took him four tries to pour), when in reality, I hadn’t ordered at all. The sound quality sucked too. The third band has to stop their set multiple times to correct the sound people, who obviously didn’t know how to do their jobs. Honestly, this is the worst«venue» I have ever been to. Everyone there was rude, they nickel and dimed you, and then couldn’t even provide good sound for the artists. This place should stick to being a ratchet club and just stop holding concerts. Ever.

this is probably the WORST venue i have ever been to for a concert. the doors were supposed to open at 6:30, so i arrived at 6:00. THELINEDIDNTMOVEUNTIL7:00, and by the time i got to the front ITWAS7:45 and they already let the first band start playing and i missed their entire set!!! COMPLETELY unacceptable. the girl standing in front of me specifically came to this concert for the first band, and she was so sad she missed them. on top of that, the coat check kinda stinks but i didnt mind, until the ladys working the coat check refused to give us back our coats until we left a tip. HOWRUDE? and dont get me started on the sound system. the two headlining bands(never shout never and metro station) were struggling to deal with the sound and had to keep constantly checking their instruments in between songs to make sure it was good. WORST. VENUE. EVER.

Horrific venue just horrific. Doors were supposed to open at 6:30, and I believe they opened around 7:20ish. Thank god that I got there at 2:30pm and was close to the front of the line. When I got inside they told me I had to get my coat checked for $ 4.00, UHMSCREWTHAT, I just ignored them and went inside the venue, luckily they didn’t say anything maybe they just didn’t notice me. When I got inside some VIP people were already inside which was about 30 people and the first band was already on their second song and having a ton of audio problems, they kept telling the sound guy to fix it. And lets just say nothing was fixed mic would go out, guitar sound wasn’t fully there, just a load of sound problems throughout their whole performance which is really unfortunate since they are a small up and coming band. 2 bands later and failing sound checks band #2 plays and of course same problem. Now comes the main act, and the mic goes out right in the beginning of a song, naturally the lead singer reached down for the second mic and, no surprise, it wasn’t working either. One of the band members had to stop playing for a few seconds to hand him a mic. Whoever is working sound up there really needs to know what they’re doing. This night was a big mess filled with too many mistakes. I’d really hate to be that person to rain on everyone’s parade but I really did not like the fact that there were little teenage girls smoking a bowl right next to me,(I’m almost sure she wasn’t the only one smoking weed there) and some other girl smoking a cigg and another one vaping. Security should really up their game.

At first I was loving the underground vibe at this club… until a random drugged out kid threw up on my bf’s sweatshirt. Totally accident, yes. However, the way the club staff handled the situation was appalling. We asked 5 different employees for a plastic trash bag to place my bf’s puked covered sweatshirt in, including the manager — all told us they«we do not have trash bags», health violation much? We then looked to one of the trash cans which already had a plastic trash bag lining the can, and we were asked to leave by management ! minus 3 stars. side note: my boyfriend does not drink or do any drugs. sober soldier. This on top of automatic 20% gratuity added to your bar tab… minus 1 additional star. I work in the club industry, so I usually tip very well, but the solo female bartender with too much attitude and pourer of weak drinks doesn’t deserve my tip. When asking to close out my tab I figured I let her know which out-of-state ID I had in addition to my last name to ease the search amongst IDs, but she snapped back with«that doesn’t help me». Apparently there’s a multitude of CA driver’s licenses floating around in her stash of NY state IDs. This, and I had to explain to her what a Coke-back was. *rolls eyes*

I came in with very low expectations after reading all the reviews. I just went to the open to close set for Fairy Tayle. I don’t really follow/know of this particular DJ but streamed one of his sets to see if it is a genre i at least liked. I always go to venues with an open mind and try to review all the obstacles that make it a negative experience. Thanks to Unilocal,i was able to avoid a few. First, the mandatory coat check. My group drove in and parked across the street. Although it was cold, we opted to leave our jackets in the car to save $ 12. We didn’t wait long out in the cold. Bouncer/id checker was ok and nothing too strict. Entrance was easy going. The basement is fairly small but decent size for a small crowd. I guess 100 or so? Our bartender, the older gentleman was nice and attentive. The drinks weren’t a total rip off so that helped. Water was also only $ 3. All positives. The sound system was good but not great. I think it mostly has to do with the space size in general. It would be really loud if you’re in the dead center of the venue. But on the sides it seems really muted. Its not a deal breaker since it gives you a place to get out of range of the speakers, particularly those that don’t use ear plugs to these events. I was hoping for a more gritty, down and dirty NYC venue but it was fairly typical. They have 2 cool seating areas which i assume are VIP when bigger acts come. I’m glad they didn’t rope them off as it gives people a place to sit and rest their tired feet/legs. There is a timed smoke machine which would’ve been better if they had more lasers and strobing lights. It would make the smoke more useful. It just really looked like a lot of vape smoke lol. Mens bathroom were decent. The attendant was working hard but felt out of place for a small venue such as this, and the bathroom was pretty small too. There was never a line since it was a small crowd/venue. Beer spilled on the dance floor and it was cleaned fairly quickly. Because of this specific dj, it brought a good crowd which made the night a lot better.

We had a huge wait to get in even though we had tickets. Then once we got in there was another very inefficient 30 minute wait in line for the mandatory $ 4 coat check. The event was 16+, which meant the crowd was full of annoying teens, and the sound system was shit. No gripes whatsoever about the acts, and overall the music was fine and we had a great night, but that was *despite* the venue and not because of it.

Unquestionably the worst experience I’ve ever had at a music venue. First, they advertise 6pm doors, 7pm show time. Without explanation, they first began LETTINGPEOPLEINSIDE at 7:30pm. Its was cold. We had to wait outside for an hour and a half. The opening band already started playing before we could get in because Santos let us in so late. Also, I always have my backpack with me. Literally every other venue I’ve ever been to does a security pass on the bag and then lets me bring it in. Not Santos. After Santos looked inside the backpack and had me head inside, their bouncer told me I HAVE to use the coat check for my bag and can’t bring it into the actual venue. I was forced to wait in the long coat check line and pay $ 4. I don’t even really care about the money, it just seems sleazy and immediately started off my night on a bad note. There was nowhere on the ticket or their site that says you can’t bring bags inside, so it just feels like a quick money grab on their part. Since literally every other place I’ve been let’s you bring bags in, they should notify people beforehand of their«rule».(or just get rid of the rule…) They also have terrible, run down bathrooms– BUTTHEYHAVE A BATHROOMATTENDANT. Maybe if you go to an upscale place its fine to have a bathroom attendant, but it just felt weird and out of place here. The attendant was pushy– someone else was using the sink closest to the attendant, so i went to the sink further away. When i went to use the soap dispenser, the attendant literally ran over and ALSO put soap in my hands, even though I already had soap from the dispenser. I literally laughed in the attendants face. Even during the show, the venue failed. The opening bands drummer told the sound guy to kill the piano in his monitor 4+ times. The sound guy was just not paying attention and just left it the same, and everyone could see the drummer growing visually frustrated. In the end, the drummer just had to quickly stand up and completely unplug the monitor because Santos just wasnt attentive. All in all, the show itself was fine, but the venue sucked. Bad service, tons of money grabs, and disorganized. I hope a band I like never plays there again!

I came here for an event back in October and honestly, the space is small and unable to accommodate as many people the event had expected. Of course, there’s a floor downstairs– which is great, but the main space was super crowded. They do have a full bar and what seems to be a VIP section on the little staircase section on the main floor. However, the space was pretty, lots of lights. The bathroom was also kinda creepy, but clean I think… it was really dark.

I ONLYGAVE A STARCAUSE UnilocalMADEME2 drinks for $ 77.00REALLY??? So I came here for an event an associate of mine invited me to. I go to the bar and order 2 top shelf long islands and my bill was $ 77! I immediately said I AMNOTPAYINGTHATATALL! The bartender called who I’m assuming is the manager/owner only to inform me that he would take off $ 8 off each drink. To which I still((rightfully so) declined, that Is when I was informed by say manager/owner that if I didn’t want to pay that I would be put out and then he even proceeded to call a bouncer over and reiterated to him to «put him out if he doesn’t pay»! The bartender was good and I don’t blame her but I did give her some advice that she should inform someone if she’s about to charge monthly cable bill money for a drink! Moral of the story is I WILLNEVERCOMEHEREAGAINANDYOUSHOULDN’T EITHER!

Two floors of fun and dancing. I’ve been here for a launch party and for a house music party, both were fantastic times. It is kind of funky, so you will need to shower afterwards. It’s spacious enough to walk around and not get clocked in the face. The DJ’s have been great when I’ve gone. The drinks are about average for a club, around eight bucks for a beer. The sound system is awesome. You can feel the music without losing your eardrums. Mandatory coat check.

Came here to see my buddies’ bands. It was a great night of music. The music itself was great. The experience left something to be desired. As an infrequent club-goer, I have modest standards for venues and music halls, but I had thought SPH was a cooler club. No markings separating the spaces means I wasted time(and almost, money) walking into a totally different space to watch a totally different band. When I got into the right space, there was a mandatory coat check(apparently if you have an umbrella, which I didn’t, that’s counted as a separate article to check). Bathrooms were pretty dirty and there was little crowd management from the entrance to the coat check. Drinks were overpriced as expected, and sadly there were no really good beers on tap(get with the program, Santos). We were told to leave shortly after the show was over and my friend was actually chased down by the [very nice] bartender: basically, hurry up and pay your tab, with apparently a sizable gratuity already added. I don’t know what the New York club experience is supposed to be like these days, but this one didn’t feel quite right.

OMG… instead of flashback Thursday, I had a flashback Friday at Santos Party House(96 Lafayette Street btw Walker Street & White Street) this past week. This two level party spot took me back to my early 20 days. They had a live performance with the Native Tongues/GRAND PUBA(Brand Nubian), the Jungle Brothers & friends. My friends and I were close to the stage and the sound system was great. We had a really good time listening to the old school songs like: — Girl I’ll House You — 360 And more… those were the good old days for me and well as now. I really enjoyed myself!!! If more old school artists are going to perform here, then I will be back. Just make sure you have enough $$$$ in your pockets for drinks.

Not a bad venue if you are going there for a specific DJ. The crowd varies. The bartenders are nice but there is something up with the drinks. I know my tolerance and for some reason anytime I drink vodka here I end up super trashed. I am not the first to say this. It’s happened to a bunch of my friends also. Could their be an additive in the liquor to make it more potent? In any case I’ve learned my lesson and only stick to beer when I am here. I’ve attended events in both the upstairs and downstairs spaces and eventhough the downstairs is smaller I usually have a much better time there. May be it’s just the sentimental feelings of all the good times I’ve had there, or may be it’s the fact that the smaller space is usually less crammed and easier to move around. In addition it’s the same floor as the bathrooms and coat check making it more convenient. The worst thing about this place is the bouncers. There’s like one or two really cool ones but the rest of them are total twats. Especiall the guy in charge of them. He is super mean, pushy, and has serious anger issues and is not afraid to resort to physical contact. In fact it seems like he is especially trying to instigate that type of situation. Whether you are male or female he is still nasty all the same. There’s just some people that get a little bit of authority and let it go right to their heads.
