Completely renovated and it is amazing. Drinks are fairly priced, service is great and quick. The DJ plays all the hits you want to hear including those guilty pleasure. The interior is a perfect mix of swank, homely, and even a bit tropical.

Sapphire Lounge is a bit run down if you have ever seen it with the lights on. When the lights are off it’s a decent enough party space. I’ve thrown a few events here in the past and working with the owners and managers was really easy. They were extremely accomodating and pretty much allowed me the freedom to throw whatever type of event I wanted to. They did not restrict the type of music or the fact that I would be bringing in vendors and artists. They pretty much welcomed all my input and my ideas. The drinks are a few bucks cheaper here than the surrounding bars and they usually offer shot specials. The turnout was great and we had a good time but there are a few things that could be done to make the space better. For one the floor in the entry way sinks in and feels pretty dangerous. Like if a very heavy person stepped on it it may just give in. The sound system lacks bass and sound a little muddy. For a while there was some construction being done on the building above so there was a scaffolding covering the sign making it difficult to find and in addition there was a huge dumpster right out front giving it an awful curb appeal. Not exactly a hot spot for your next event but despite all these things it still wasn’t a bad experience.

CLOSEDFORRENOVATION. Huge disappointment when me and a friend found this place on Unilocal and decided to go after leaving a nice place in hopes to do some dancing. Seen some other cool places in the area. Doesn’t look like it’s opening anytime soon. Looks like it’s been abandoned for some time now.

I went on a Saturday night for a friend’s birthday and it was a good experience. I really liked the older(not top 40) music that was played and that they included reggae which I love for dancing. Nothing over the top exciting, but a solid place to go if you want to dance.

Fun if you’ve had enough drinks in you. Lolz. Not too bad though! Hit this up if you have a nice group.

Came here after it looked like we weren’t getting into bob bar. It’s definitely a dive bar appearance, but I thought the music was good. We heard some ABBA, grease, 80s and 90s pop with newish stuff thrown in. The speakers were going in and out however. My friends were cranky at a few of the song choices, so we didn’t stay too long, but I would have been happy. Can’t comment on drinks as we left before we had a chance to grab one. There wasn’t enough hangers for the coat check initially so we had to wait, because it was far too toasty to hold on to them.

Came here at like 2am maybe later on a Friday night. It was empty. Probably like seven people inside. The music was good though. Bathrooms are decent too. No cover. Downer: $ 30 minimum for card

Stumbled into it last night near 3am. Sunday night. Straight up Reggae. Of course no lines. Pay the cute dread inside $ 10 and… straight up Jamaica inside. I saw maybe 2 other non-African American(or Jamaican) persons. People just jamming, dudes hitting on girls, most girls just grinding their butts against them. It’s probably more fun if with a girl and perfect ender for the dates, but going alone and meeting is good, as I did. It was crowded but not packed(perfect). Drinks not pricey. Don’t know about other nights but for what it is the place was okay.

Don’t expect much from Sapphire. It’s not that kind of place. Just come and have a good time. Came here Saturday night to celebrate a birthday party. Everyone was extremely accommodating. The owner, our waitress, the bartender, even the bouncer. Called them a few days to set-up something. They picked up right away, they simply told me to send and email. I did just that and that’s all it took. Got there, no line, no hassle. Table was ready. I’m impressed. Crowd was mixed. All 12 people who were there. It should have been busier, a lot busier. Music was diverse. Played a little bit of everything. I danced a lot, I drank a lot. At the end of the night, everyone enjoyed themselves. That’s all that mattered. Honestly, it’s what you make of it. As long as your enjoying yourself, Sapphire can be so much fun. If you come here and you don’t enjoy it, walk over to the other bars. This is New York, be happy, and live.

Good jams, tight dance-space, expensive drinks. This is the place to go for a night out once you are already intoxicated. As a lounge, this place is horrible. As a dance club, it is a okay(and can imagine how fun it could be). I came here on a first date and I do not know what the guy was thinking. This is probably one of the worst places for a first date ever. The booths are dirty, the lounge is smelly, and the drinks are unimpressive. All together, this was not a winning move on his part. Basically, don’t be an idiot and take a date here. Come here with a bunch of girlfriends for a fun night out. However, if they make you pay cover, skip it and go somewhere else.

I’m not sure how too rate this place 5.00 cover? why not saying I don’t want to pay but Why? guess beat the 20⁄30 at other places its LES here are still covers Music is usually good 90s good mix some old school dance-hall. . feel like the crowd is basically the rejects from BOB’s bar couldn’t get in because they are at capacity or just the next stop after-wards. Entered here and the dance floor was empty except for a «GRACEJONES» woman dancing hard.(you know the Elbows moving left and right action mean she is jumping on the speakers, edging on the crowd of people that were actually dancing she even came to me and said«stop holding the wall up» really people still use this line. After further investigation and they way she moved through the area like a Spider-girl I realized she works there she is like their«HYPEWOMAN» getting people to dance and such. ohh and I saw her taking drink order I’m like OK I KNEWIT! Drinks were fairly cheap got 2 vodka crans and Beer was 15 bucks I never plan to go here directly its like we just end up here …

There are few facts about this place which one should know : * All the people who can’t get in at Bob’s bar couple of steps away come here * They charge a cover of $ 5 bucks and there is no exception for girls * The place is old, see the ceiling, one would realise what I am talking about * There will be a girl dancing on the floor her ass off Music was ok as they play little bit of everything but mostly concentrating on old 90’s music. As expected the place was not packed even though we walked in here on a Saturday night. This was definitely not the place where I am coming back. There are a host of good places elsewhere in LES which are much nicer and are worth paying the cover charge.

Ok so this place totally smells. The drinks are expensive. My cocoloso tasted like cockNasshoe. get my jist. The people in here reminded me of wild 70s hippies(even though I was born in 89′). When I looked up at the ceiling the dust that was collecting for… I don’t know say years or so… could have had its own zip code; it was in huge balls and hung like icycles. The crowd was diverse, but an outlandish bunch I should mention. I’m weird myself, an oddball at that, but on a whole different level. I don’t discriminate by means of appearance, but once smell plays a part in WHO you are that’s a different story. You smell like ass your automatically a page ripped out of my book, in the analogy to my life that means WERENOTGOINGPAST«goodbye» !!! The music wasn’t bad. Actually a nice mix of authentic and somewhat older reggae. A few people were swaying and blowin it down like they were in the islands, but the music wasn’t enough to have anyone up winding and grinding(just cheefin). Thank god it wasn’t packed with people when I went this past Sunday night– cause it does get packed– I’d HATE to be the sucker stuck in between that stinky crew. Anywho i wound up a few doors down at one of my good old favs’ bOb bar like usual. I don’t know something about Sapphire just makes my skin crawl. It was $ 10 for guys to get in and ladies were free(again this was Sunday night). I was invited here for New Years Eve by my friend, and thank god for the fact that Sprint absolutely sucks and that I never got her message with the link directing me to the site where I could purchase my $ 40 ticket. I would have been HIGHLY tight bringing in the New Year at such a dump! KIP…Keep It Movin!

I had a crazy fun time here on Saturday night dancing and meeting new people. The music was terrible, the drinks were strong and gross, and everyone loved everyone. All races, ages, and creeds come here to sweat it out together on the dance floor. We reserved a seating area for a group of girls, and we didn’t have to purchase a bottle to sit there even though we did no sitting whatsoever, and used our table only for our coats, purses, and eventually, our shoes. Even though this place is such a dive, I would have probably given it more than 3 stars if it were not for their illegal and offensive credit card policy. Not only is there the obligatory but illegal $ 30 minimum for credit card purchases, but there is a mandatory 20% gratuity for all credit card purchases. Any etiquette guide will tell you that a 20% gratuity is not appropriate for a bar that is only serving drinks. Outside of the fact that the mandatory gratuity is too high, it’s just plain offensive and unnecessary to have such an obnoxious policy. But don’t worry! The bartenders helpfully point to the sign reciting the credit card policy before charging your card. Not that you have any say in the matter; just as a warning that you’re about to be robbed.

I’ve been here twice. Once for a birthday on Halloween weekend a few years back, and once a few Saturdays ago. It’s a very nicely decorated place, especially for an LES lounge, but it’s rather dead. The bouncer told us there was a cover charge($ 5? $ 10? I can’t remember), but when we said no thanks and proceeded to leave, he told us we can just come in. Thank goodness because I would have been angry if I had to pay when there were only a handful of people inside. I can’t comment too much about the music because we stayed for one song and left. I did have fun here a few years ago when I came for my friend’s birthday — and I think it’s because the whole lounge was filled with just friends — you can never go wrong with that. Overall I give it a 2 star rating, but it has potential to be 3 if you’re with the right people… and a large enough group of people.

Sapphire is a late night party waiting to happen. This is a great dance party alternative to overcrowded, sweaty Bob Bar. We didn’t drink at all here since we pre-partied elsewhere, just danced the night away! Not sure if there is a DJ, but the music was fun. The crowd was non pretentious and chill. No dress code. I wouldn’t bring a date here if you’re aiming to impress. But this is an ideal place to go dance when you just wanna feel the beat and get down with your bad self. If you don’t care about a fancy ambiance, and love to party on a budget this place could do the trick for you

I came here for a friend’ birthday. What told me that this night was going to be interesting was the guy who was throwing fire inside a building as his talent. –_– Apparently my friend heard this place was a great spot on Saturday nights for good music & drinks… which it is. However, they neglected to tell her that b411:30pm its a what’s your talent spot and believe you me there are many people in the city that believe they need to share their talent w/everyone. So after 11:30pm it was a good time… a little small but the DJ made me happy with old school r&b and hip hop.
