I was really sad to see this bar closed down, it was one of the really good Irish/Sports bars in the city. The place was spacious(unless a Steelers game was going on), had high ceilings with a mostly dark wooden interior, a dart board, good cheap beer, and great BBQ Wings. I hear a rumor that Lansdowne Road has the same wings so I’ll be sure to check them out but I know the bar and the vibe doesn’t have the same down to earth atmosphere that old Scruffy Duffy’s had.

This was a great place for a Guinness while waiting for my bus after seeing a show. Yes, you rubbed up against alot of peeps. But one day some guy in a REd Sox jersey schooched into my spot at the bar — this was years ago. and I saw he was texting. which at the time was not in yet. So I say, Hey that’s my spot and eww texting like a bigshot, who do you think you are? The guy turned around and it was Jimmy Fallon. Is that a great story or what? He used to be on the dart team there, so that Was his old hang.

Really an okay enough bar I think unless there’s a game on. Then you got problems. Which is to say, I had problems. I got rubbed up against so much I felt like I was a hot girl in a subway. For the record, it’s not a subway, and I’m not a girl. Hot? History will decide. This is also a stronghold for the Pittsburgh Steelers fanbase. This was a weeknight game between Green Bay and Dallas. Woe be to a non-Steelers fan on any given Sunday.

Standard Irish Pub in Times Square area with good bar food. Good price for the area and the occasional free drink with sports on every tube. I do think this has a better atmosphere than most bars in Times Square but really there is nothing special here. Younger crowed and a good place to meet a buddy on a weekday night(not so crowded). Bottom Line: Authentic Irish bartenders, good drink prices for the area, good bar food(although small selection). Its special in the sense that its a relaxed atmosphere for the immediate area but nothing special in terms of bars 5 min walk from there. Wings are ok but not great.

If you like bar food, beer and watching sports you’ll love Scruffy Duffy’s. Standard Sports Bar and comfortable hang so long as you get there early enough to get a good seat. Always crowded with locals and tourists which makes for an interesting scene on a hot game night.

Scruffy Duffy’s has been my one stop source for all sports and inexpensive drinks. The specials are so good that locals mingle with the tourists to make this place one very crowded bar during game nights and weekends. There are a couple of pool tables near the front for the folks who get tired of standing all the time. There are at least 6 flatscreen TVs surrounding the place, including one super large wall projection for the main game of the night. The service is always on par and the food is actually tastier than your typical bar food. Each time I’ve come in here they’ve been showing lots of good baseball, basketball, and football action, especially with college sports(Pac-10 definitely!) which is fantastic.

The very definition of a sports bar, Scruff’s always has at least one game on and a crowd of people following the action. If you’re looking for a place to hang with a group of friends, though, this isn’t it – any conversation beside yelling at a bad call just isn’t gonna happen.(This, of course, is excepting the seemingly heavy B&T pickup action that sometimes occurs…) Scruff’s does, however, pull an extra star for the excellent wings.

Unbeatable wings and fries. The only place to have a beer while you watch the game…(What ever game you want… There’s enough TV’s to choose from!)
