This place is phenomenal. The décor, the ambiance, the music, and oh my god the food. It is definitely one of my favorite places. Everything is so rich and fresh. It’s true Italian cooking and the design and décor makes you feel like your in Italy. If you haven’t been. GO. And try to save room for dessert. Or even go just for dessert. Their molten chocolate cake is one of the best desserts I’ve ever had.

Being a gluten intolerant foodie, I searched for what seemed like ages on Unilocal for exactly the right spot to eat a delicious lunch while visiting NYC. I’m so thrilled that I came across this place because it was a gf person’s paradise. The restaurant is very charming and looked like something plucked right out of Venice. The servers were very sweet and super attentive, as they came over many times to pour our water. My best friend and I couldn’t decide what we wanted so we decided to split the Gamberi salad and the Tartufo flatbread. The salad was really fresh and the grilled shrimp on top were tender and delicious. The flatbread was incredible… probably the best gf flatbread that I’ve ever had. The toppings(mushrooms, arugula, smoked prosciutto, mozzarella and truffle oil) were absolutely perfect. And the portion was so big that we each took a piece to go… which we scarfed cold on the street later & it was just as good! For dessert I ordered something that I haven’t had in years and thought I would never eat again… molten lava cake! It was served warm(of course!) with sliced strawberry with toasted almond cream anglaise and vanilla bean ice cream. Honestly it was even better than I remember any non-gf lava cake being back when I could eat such things. So as you can tell, I really loved this place & if I lived around here I would be in a lot of trouble, especially with their fabulous menu! So if you’re gf, you need to check this place out and even if you’re not, it’s worth a visit!

I was so excited to have found this gem in Soho. I loved that everything in the restaurant was gluten free, I didn’t have to worry once about talking to anyone about my gluten intolerance. Unfortunately, I had already eaten brunch at a different area in the city, and didn’t have enough room for a full entrée or appetizer, so I ordered the tiramisu and the house rose instead. They do not allow for half orders of any dish, I wish they did though, I wanted so badly to taste something savory off of their menu. Little outside patio is super warming and very serene, lots of little house plants around, and the restaurant itself is situated on a quaint little street. Fabulous service from several wait staff, and I was checked on frequently without feeling like they checked in too much. Tiramisu was delicious! Creamy filling, and the lady fingers tasted like it was gluten filled. I can’t wait to come back when I’m truly hungry, I want to try everything on the menu! **cash or American Express only!!!

We were wandering around looking for a nice Italian spot near the west village on a Friday night and somehow stumbled on this location. There’s a old school Italian restaurant, with really great pasta. I really like their(Bruschetta ai Funghi) mushroom bruschetta, the regular standard original version with the tomatotoes weren’t very memorable. Each of us ordered a pasta dish and all were generally good. We didn’t notice any major difference regarding the gluten aspect. The top choice was the spaghetti with the tomatoes sauce and speck. I ordered the Gnocchi with mushroom and cream sauce, which I really liked. For drinks we ordered a carafe of sangria, which was nice and didn’t taste watered down. If I had to articulate a difference, it would be that without gluten, the pasta bite is different, its not as firm or chewy. I cant speak for the meat and seafood dishes, but this is a nice place for pasta, with nice service and date like ambiance. If you’re someone who’s allergic to gluten or is doing a gluten free diet, this place would definitely be a solid choice for you.

Absolutely five star experience. I’m not a gluten free food chaser but this one definitely takes great care of your stomachs. I ordered zucchini lasagna in the specials and my friend ordered the lamb chops with potatoes and long beans in the main course. The décor is classy and the dimmed light feels just right. Servers are elegant and professional. A wonderful European«travel».

I am in love! It is very hard to find good Gluten Free food and I have to admit that I miss a good bread and pasta. The food here was so good that for a second, I thought I was in Italy and forgot that I was eating Gluten Free. After having one meal, I had to come back the following week for a second appearance — both times were great! The décor is elegant and classy. There is dimmed lighting and charming Italian music in the background. The staff is very elegant and service is what I remember experiencing in Europe. They were all dressed in black and are helpful and professional. My favorites: the bread and olive oil, the pasta with seafood and the ravioli. I would recommend to try everything! They seem to take gluten free very seriously in the restaurant because there is a book about celiac disease as you enter and from everything we tried — they make it taste good. The place is located in Little Italy and there are other gluten free options for pizza and pasta in the area so I am guessing competition here is not small. I do like this place for its elegance and it will now be my go to place for date night in the city.

Great restaurant. Feels like I am in Tuscany. The mushroom bruschetta app was amazing. Went with another couple and we each tried each other’s dishes. I Had a mushroom and smoked prosciutto pasta while my girlfriend had a truffle oil mushroom ravioli. Both were excellent. My friend had the Chicken Parm. Not the best he ever had, but it is a standard classic. His date had a swordfish steak that was good too. The desserts were great, especially the tiramisu. Everything is gluten free, but you would never know. Great selection of Italian wines by the glass too.

This restaurant never lets me down. The food is always absolutely incredible and it’s very consistent. I love that they also have specials every night on top of their regular menu. I’ve always had such a lovely time going out to eat here and the staff has been very pleasant. Great date night spot! The only thing to keep in mind is that is it cash or Amex only

I was so excited to see an Italian GF place in a cute little section of Greenwich village. They have the ambience down… it reminded me of a café in Tuscany. The wine selection was good also($ 12 – 14 per glass) and I enjoyed both the Malbec and the Chianti I tried. But their entrees just fell flat and I was extremely disappointed. I ordered the marinated lamb chops. They were frenched so they looked pretty, but for $ 33 they were tiny and overcooked. I asked for medium and they came out well done. The flavor was tasty and zesty, but they were just too over to enjoy. The green beans were the highlight of the dish… crisp tender and nicely seasoned. My dining companion got the pasta al pommodoro, which was essentially cooked dried pasta tossed in tomato sauce. Bland, tomatoey, and disappointing. For $ 17, I was expecting more. I had hoped they would make their own pasta, but alas they do not. I honestly could have done better at home. Finally, and very importantly, they accept American Express or cash. Nothing else. They have an ATM downstairs but there’s a $ 2.50 cash withdrawal fee. :( Overall I was quite disappointed with Senza, and suggest you try somewhere else.

Came here last night for dinner with my friend who has celiac disease. She was so excited to dine at a restaurant that was 100% gluten free! We had an 8:15 reservation and arrived a little early. The hostess said our table wasn’t quite ready yet, so, we waited outside until our table was ready. We were seated promptly at 8:15. We ordered the sangria, bread basket, mushroom ravioli and the vegetarian lasagna. I must say, the food was fantastic! The ravioli and lasagna both had amazing flavor and were very tasty! The bread basket is nothing to write home about; the next time we go here, we’d opt for one of the amazing appetizers on the menu and skip the bread. We will most definitely be returning to Senza Gluten!!!

Absolutely marvelous evening for My Valentines Day dinner. The wait staff is friendly but straightforward. Doesn’t try to sell any particular dish but provides any information you’ll need to make a decision. The food is without doubt the highlight of the evening, especially any of the pasta dishes. I forgot that this is a gluten free place as the evening progressed. My girlfriend who is gluten intolerant had not only the freedom to choose what she wanted to eat but the food is also prepared very well. The cookery of the meat is on-point and dessert are expertly prepared. Could race about this more. Come here even if you’re not gluten free.

My girlfriend has celiac disease and finding good dining options for us can sometimes be quite challenging. I pretty much stumbled upon Senza Gluten by accident via Unilocal and we decided to hit it up after having checked out the Book of Mormon(amazing show, by the way). We arrived at around 9.30 pm and the place only hosted a couple of other diners. The setting was very rustic but cute and intimate. We were greeted by our hostess and the service itself was very attentive. My girlfriend was in complete awe over all the things that she could eat. We ordered the calamari and bruschetta for starters, lasagna and chicken parmiggiano for mains and the tiramisu for dessert. I really wanted to like this place because they scored high points on both ambiance and service, but the food was really quite disappointing in my opinion. The lasagna was quite flavorless and lacked seasoning and the chicken breading was only ok. The tomato sauce had drenched the chicken making it soggy and soft. But. the Tiramisu was absolutely amazing. It really should come with a halo on top, because it was godlike. Definitely the highlight of the evening. We went back a few days later and ordered some more food — again, not impressed with the food, but we pretty much went there only for the Tiramisu. If you live in the area, go for the Tiramisu and a coffee, and if you live far away, make the trip, it’s definitely worth it. Unfortunately, because of the food otherwise failing to impress, I rank this up to a 3-star, but great concept and great service otherwise.

Highly recommended! Our party of 15 was here on December 30 for a special occasion. Every single person loved the food and ambiance. Most people couldn’t believe it was gluten free. First off, I want to give a big shout out to the staff here. Absolutely wonderful! A few of us arrived before everyone else and were in the mood for a bottle of Moscato. They had none chilled but took the time to ask us if we were okay with chilling a bottle on ice, which would be ready in 10 minutes. The restaurant itself is very quaint and cozy with an old world trattoria vibe. And the food was phenomenal! I started with the Calamari and it was perfect– tender and crispy, and the white(garlic) and red dipping sauces were exquisite. I had the chicken parmesan for my main and it was also perfect and huge. I couldn’t finish it! Since there were 15 of us, we managed to order everything on the menu, and everything got a thumbs up. A sweet lady(I am assuming she is the owner) came over to us and wished us well with a beautiful pana cotta drizzled with fresh strawberry sauce. I don’t usually enjoy pana cotta but I changed my mind that day! Absolutely delicious! I also had the tiramisu which was stellar. Perfect texture and consistency. On a side note, we called in a few days earlier to ensure they could accommodate our party. Senza Gluten made everything easy(unlike some other Manhattan restaurants we called). The service standard is impeccable here. I’m looking forward to going back.

So I have to start out with the disclaimer that this is actually closer to a 3 or 3.5 star review. I dined here for Christmas with my Dad and while the food was good, I don’t think I’ll be back, simply due to the fact that the food is overpriced for my tastes, but I’ve always thought that about upscale Italian places, so I decided not to take points off for that. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience, and so I decided to award four stars. On to the food! We started with the Calamari and Mista Salad. The Mista Salad was fine. Greens with Tomato and Avocado and what tasted like olive oil and vinegar, maybe a bit of salt. Tasty, fresh but not worth the price. The calamari, which was on their special Christmas menu, was actually excellent(tartar sauce was bomb), but at $ 18, again, not worth the price. This was compounded by the fact that I had eaten gluten-free calamari the night before at a different establishment. Both excellent dishes, but unfortunately for Senza Gluten, at $ 11.50 for twice the amount of calamari, the other restaurant had spoiled me. Ah well. #firstworldproblems amirite? For our entrees we both tried lasagna. The regular Bolognese for myself and the Christmas special vegetarian for Pops. This is where things got a little iffy for me. My dad clearly wasn’t blown away by his dish and even remarked that mine was better. As for my lasagna, I have to say the Bolognese was very tasty. Unfortunately, the texture and taste of the pasta was reminicient of Chef Boyardee(you know that super mushy, no density feeling I’m talking about?). Not that I have a problem with Chef Boyardee. I actually used to enjoy a good can of Chef Boyardee ravioli, but I sure as hell wouldn’t pay $ 22 for it. Again with the«good, but overpriced» problem. For dessert we got the Tiramisu. Absolutely no complaints here. It was phenomenal and I would have licked the plate clean had I no sense of decorum. I know it sounds like I had a lot of complaints in general, but truly it all boiled down to the fact that I think the place is overpriced. But hey, it’s a fancy, gluten-free Italian place in the Village. Not like it was a surprise right? I love that it’s 100% gluten-free restaurant. It was nice to be able to enjoy Italian food again without having to worry about going into digestive failure(I miss lasagna so much). The establishment itself is adorable. Cute, cozy. Nice place for a date or special event. The music selection was on point. Loves me some Frankie Valli. Service was very good. Like I said, very pleasant experience. Good food even. If I suddenly strike it rich, or land a date with very deep pockets I would give it another go, but honestly, I can’t see myself spending my money here again any time soon.

Fantastic service and delicious food. I ordered the steak with mashed potatoes and a side salad. Salad was fresh, the mashed potatoes was homemade and it reminded me of home, I asked for the steak well done and it was perfectly cooked without being burned at all. I loved my meal. Hubby got a chicken sandwich, and while he liked it a lot, he wasn’t fan of the gluten free bread. I would agree here, we were given a bread basket with two slices each of gluten free bread, it wasn’t good. I think that they need to find a new bread brand or work on their own recipe cause the bread is yuk. I loved our meal though, I loved our waitress. The staff was so meticulous and kind, it was a pleasure to lunch at Senza Gluten!

Your Italian Grandmother may roll over in her grave when she hears about the Gluten-Free Fettuccine, Lasagna, and Bread, but your Celiac-Sensitive Sister is going to think she’s died and gone to heaven. I’m not gluten-sensitive, but decided to give it a try anyway simply because it’s a new place in the neighborhood. I ordered Caesar Salad & Fettuccine Bolognese delivery from GrubHub. I live a couple blocks away and other eateries nearby may take up to 45 minutes to get to me. This delivery happened in 15 minutes! Nice to see that they kept the salad dressing separate from the salad so that the lettuce could stay crunchy upon arrival. The bolognese and fettuccine with bread were exactly what I would expect from any other Italian restaurant. Prepared al dente, still a thicker crust even if it’s not the crunchy kind on the bread and a soft interior texture. For the sensitive diet, this place does an amazing job. For someone who can enjoy pasta regularly, this place is a great option to enjoy your pasta favorites with friends who normally can’t.
