I needed a simple over the counter med. Sign said open at 10AM on a Saturday. I went at 10. Not open, back at 10:45, still closed. I can’t post zero stars so they got a 1. This is my first 1 I’ve ever posted.

All I wanted was a Gatorade Chocolate Chip Whey Protein Recovery bar!!! Having worked at 32 Avenue of the Americas for nearly three years, Soho Pharmacy was my go-to for the mid-afternoon snack run. As often as three times a week, I’d spend my hard-earned money on astronomically inflated consumer products like Sugar-free Red Bull, Blue Diamond’s Coffee Mocha Almonds, Planters NUT*rition Healthy Heart Mix and more. This place had my confidence like Tribeca Bagels Spiderman wrap on whole wheat has my heart. But onto the review: Let’s start with the cashier attendants. Sanitation is their first and foremost concern — Always wearing latex gloves to ensure that your change is handled with the utmost care and never to be cross-contaminated with microbials/pathogens known to be carried by the U.S. currency in circulation. You could mostly count on the lovely ladies at Soho pharmacy to bid you farewell with a generous smile as they turned their attention to one of the dozens of customers often waiting to purchase their daily Take 5 lottery slips before the 12pm noon EST deadline. Onto the inventory… Throughout my frequent trips to Soho pharmacy, I almost always left the business with a combination of a health bar and sleeve of nuts in hand. Ninety percent of those occasions I’d called on the Gatorade Chocolate Chip Whey Protein Recovery bar because it’s massive and holds me over unlike the measly apple and sandwich I ate for lunch. As I passed through the door, my eyes would meet the top shelf and the first motion I’d make was to grab one of these glimmering bars with the bright orange wrapper. After single-handedly whittling away at Soho pharmacy’s stock, I realized that another order would need to be placed, or else I’d have to go with the cardboard taste of Pure Protein Deluxe Chocolate protein bars. But on this fateful day of October 20, 2015, the friendly cashier attendants told me I snagged the last one that they ordered more(in addition to a replacement order for Emeralds Sweet & Salty Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Healthy Nut Mix). But today I was stranded, depleted and lonely. My blank stare gazed over the top shelf of the health bar rack, only to be met by emptiness and to make matters worse, a box of Gatorade Whey Protein Recovery bars filled with Pure Protein Greek Yogurt Blueberry nutrition bars! I kindly asked when Soho Pharmacy would be getting more and showed a picture of my favorite snack on the phone and their reply was: «The Pure Protein ones are the same, just with less sugar.» No they are not the same, Ma’am, they are not the same.

I like this place to find unique soaps and toiletries. They have a great selection of gifts, but it is very expensive.

Stopped in here on a hot day, bot two nail polishes and two vitamin waters. The Nailteck top coat cost $ 9.39 and was in a box, so I did not open it to check the bottle inside. When I got back to the hotel and opened it, the bottle is completely empty. Scam!!! I don’t know that this is the store’s fault, but they do need to know.

The only reason I go here is that it is between my apartment and the A train. Because it is, I go here far more than I would like – and I hate myself for it every time. First of all, it is the least-organized pharmacy that I have ever been in, and the shelves are far too close together, making it really aggravating to try to find anything. Second, the staff is incredibly rude. Good luck if you decide you actually want to ask someone where something is. Third, the prices are outrageous, a good 20% higher than the local Duane Reade. Finally, the last time I filled a prescription here, they totally botched it and gave me the wrong medicine. I absolutely don’t get prescriptions filled here anymore.

This is a pretty well stocked pharmacy, all the basics, and a few rarer items too– Botot Mouth Wash, for example. Additionally, a solid range of beverages, the fact that they carry Hot Lip’s Soda(Hot Lips is a pizza place out of Portland, OR that bottles excellent natural-ish sodas) really knocked my socks off. On the flip side, the family that run it(especially their annoying kids– shouldn’t they be in school??) are seriously lacking in all aspects of customer service, and it’s like the center of eye-rolling in Tribeca. Also, their terrible website has been shut down, so there’s no place to see their hours(count on 10am-6 or 7pm everyday, closed on Sundays) — and as of two weeks ago, Unilocal still hasn’t listed them in spite of the fact that I wrote them in. All in all, a solid ‘A-OK’ three star rating.

Shorted my on my prescription by 10 pills so I ran out early. My insurance wouldn’t cover it and they refused to make good on their error. BTW, these are not drug that anyone could have any fun with. My pharmacist called in a script for the 10 more pills and they wanted to charge me $ 50. So my dermatologist called it in to Duanne Reid and it was $ 9. Their pharmacy prices are insane and they are really rude and nasty, including the guy who owns the joint.

Do you need lottery tickets? This is how I think this place stays in business. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come in here to buy soda, ice cream, or something to get me through my afternoon only to be stuck behind someone making a lifetime purchase of lottery tickets. Things you can and should buy here: healthy, no glucose sweets. lottery tickets. Gum, candy. Things you should NOT buy here: 50% off chocolate from the discount bin. Postcards with the twin towers still on them. Anything from the cookie aisle – they all taste like soap. Ice cream. It’s more expensive than your average deli. Anything that is dusty(there’s a lot of dusty stuff). Actual pharmacy items like medicine. It’s wicked expensive.

They really do have a wonderful selection, and carry a variety of healthy/organic stuff that you can’t find in a CVS or a Duane Reade. Even better, the prices are much lower than what you’d get at a health food store — with the possible exception of Whole Foods-like chains. But, I figure if I’m gonna buy the hippie stuff then I might as well support small business while I’m at it. I’m obsessed with drinking Kombucha right now, and it’s a full dollar cheaper here than anywhere else I’ve seen, including Brooklyn. *I’m taking a star off because my Kombucha was covered in dirt. On the inside, under the cap. Gross.* The store is clean and enjoyable to browse and find new fun things to try on your face/body/hair. They have sample bottles, too.

This place truly does have everything, including products I couldn’t even find at Ricky’s. My boyfriend requires some very special hair cement to tame his thick mop, and after countless sweeps of drugstores in Manhattan and BK and fruitless online searches, i finally found it here. I also like that everything is neat, clean, and the store is well lit. Yay for this place!

First, its not even in SoHo, its in TriBeCa… those liars. Secondly it seems like everything is at least $ 1.50 more expensive than it should be. But alas, this place has got pretty much everything. So it gets 2 stars.
