Delicious crispy spring roll! Comes with a nice semi sweet sauce. Also ordered the thai wings and boy were they good. Nice spicy siracha sauce and very crisp. Couldbe probably ate two orders! Definitley coming back to sit instead of take out. Décor is cute and cozy, host/cashier was very friendly and they also have a good selection of beers and wine. Definitly worth a stop. You can also order online which was very convenient.

Budget friendly lunch weekday menu for ordering traditional typical pad Thai and more speciality unique dishes. Lots of seafood dishes are on the lunch menu for under $ 13. I got the sidewalk dish which comes with rice and ground chicken, bamboo shoots, bell peppers. The fish sauce for the dish was savory, rich, and complex. Serving size was large that I got take out. Total for that lunch was $ 11.00 which includes NY sales tax. I am definitely going back here again! One of the best Thai restaurants in Manhattan is this one!

Great food. I ordered a lunch special which came with an appetizer and drink and was very reasonably priced. The chicken red curry was as good or better than what I had in Thaliand. The server was very nice and my food arrived quickly. I would definitely come back.

Came here for lunch with a friend. Thoroughly enjoyed the crispy duck, it was fantastic. The sake ginger drink is very refreshing and tasty as well. Definitely try the rice mango desert, it is great au dente rice with just enough sweetness from the condensed milk and mangos. Service was attentive and responsive as well. Overall a great place if you like Thai food!

Delicious Thai food on the west side of the city, great customer service, and quick, reasonably priced food in a sit down restaurant. Very happy with my experience here!

I loved coming to Somgkran. They had excellent service and were extremely welcoming as soon as we walked in the door. Great for family night out or date night. Thank you for your amazing hospitality!

Good service and decent food. I like the darker sauces in my thai so it worked out. But if you want lighter thai food this might not be for you.

We went there on recommendation will never go back there again. Service is very poor. We sat there for an hour after we ordered our meal people came after us got theirs so we left. Thai food is my favourite. Been to so many nice thai restaurant and this was the worst one out of all

I work around the area and swung by this place for a quick lunch bite. They have a nice selection of options for their $ 9 – 10 lunch special(app + entrée + protein + drink). I opted for the Tom Yum soup + Drunken Noodles with Tofu, and man am I happy with my selection. The soup was pretty forgettable, but the noodles were a smash! These noodles need to be cooked just right to be chewy and tender(but not soggy and bloated). I’m glad to say that these were pretty spot on. It was a smidge oily, but that’s how I like these noodles — not really sure you can cook them any other way :) For a sit down spot, they’re pretty quick. If I hadn’t decided to enjoy the food at a more leisurely(boss-not-in) kind of pace, they probably could have gotten me in-and-out within 10 – 15 minutes. Probably faster if I had ordered ahead(saw a lot of people coming in for pick up). Overall, nice casual spot(did someone really order«wine» here?) for some good Thai food. I’ll probably try their pad see ewe(my ultimate fave) the next time around.

The food was 4 stars, I only gave 3 because the waitress didn’t give me my change when I picked up a to go order, which I found very odd. It’s only .75 cents, but the behavior is irritating. The appetizer platter was ok, the fried shrimp was odd and no delicious, I didn’t really see or taste any shrimp in these odd thin cigars Shrimp pad Thai was very good

Sometimes you just wanna stay home and watch a movie with some takeout. Summer rolls are my favorite inexpensive and healthy treat. When I’m not being a fat-ass I’m looking to find the best summer roll I can find. I can’t vouch for the service or décor in this case but these spring rolls were pretty good and the sauces definitely had a kick to them.

3.5 stars. Came here for dinner before going to Sleep No More, which, by the way, you should absolutely go see. The restaurant is really cute. Small and intimate. They have a reasonably priced prix fixe, which is a good choice if you’re considering getting an appetizer and an entrée, because the prix fixe would be for around the same price but comes with dessert and drinks as well. We ordered single items. We had the curry puffs(puffs? balls? don’t remember) for appetizer and it was really tasty. I had the coconut soup with veggies and tofu, it’s loaded with veggies. The pad thai was tasty but a tad salty. I tried my boyfriend’s basil chicken dish — it was like nothing I’ve had before. The chicken was actually crispy, with sauce on it. Super tasty. My sister’s green curry I only tried a tiny bit, but I felt like it was a little too watery. Overall a pretty good Thai place, just maybe wouldn’t order their green curry again.

Amazing place to eat Thai food in Chelsea NY. Good quality and tasty food, fresh ingredients. I love the fried tofu and pad Thai in their different versions, the mango Thai rice is my favorite exotic thing. I would love to try all the menu. Great environment, excellence service and very convenient place if you are visiting NY for work or pleasure, it is close to Penn Station

Updating my review and raising it to 5 stars — long overdue. My wife and I used to come here twice a week, sometimes more. The staff there may remember us as the couple that sat at the first table by the bar, that drank all of the wine. :) We were in the process of saving for and then paying off our wedding(yes, I understand that most people would not eat out) and this place, even with 3 – 4 drinks each, would still only get is to $ 75 or so with tip. Like my previous review stated, love everything about the food here. We’ve combined to try over 50% of the menu. Huge fan of the«make your own dish» and I’ve tried most of their specials again and again. The sole issue about the entrées coming out before the appetizers were finished has been rectified. The gentlemen that brings out the food is quite helpful — not easy to put the food down when you have to clear the apps, and there are 2 glasses of water, 2 glasses of wine and a coconut water on the table on a table for 2. They still have the $ 4 happy hour, with substantial pours. Service is absolutely fantastic. Great Thai place, and it’s very convenient to Penn Station. Give it a shot!

Are there any bad Thai restaurants in NYC? We lived in LA for a decade but not really sure their numerous options are up to snuff on average. Anyways, we really enjoyed this place. We ordered take-out which is our tradition when it’s way too cold to go out. I’d say overall there’s a wee bit more attention to detail here than is typical. For instance their Thai chicken wings actually seemed to have been brined… We weren’t in the mood for noodles so we got all entrees. There food also seems to be a bit vegetable heavy which was perfect for us. Everything was tasty. We’ll go again.

Busy place on 8th ave. Maybe good for diner but definitely not for lunch. $ 11 for a lunch special, not bad, comes with a drink. But unfortunately quality of a food not the best.

Not bad, if you’re stuck in this area and have no other choices. Avoid the crab fried rice. Actually, if you can, just come here for dessert. Their purple mango sticky rice dessert is AMAZING and I sort of wished that I could have had three of them for my meal.

Thai food is one of my favorite cuisines, but Songkran just DIDNOT won my heart at all. My friend and I came here for dinner on a Friday night. The place was decently occupied(~80%). We ordered the Spicy Eggplant with Vegetable + Tofu($ 12), and couldn’t decide between Pad Thai($ 10) and Pad See Ew($ 10), so decided to order both with chicken. The Spicy Eggplant was not what I had expected. First of all, there were only about 5 pieces of eggplants and the rest were carrots, bok choy, and bell peppers. We requested the tofu to be steamed instead of fried, but it tasted so bland. The sauce on the other had was spicy not from the chili oil, but from peppers. Pad Thai noodles came out really dry. The dish also had some weird artificial seasoning that tempered with my taste bud. Similarly, the Pad See Ew sauce was super sweet. Chickens in both dishes came out overcooked. The service was good though. The waiter constantly refilled our glasses and repeatedly asked if we needed anything, almost to the point of annoyance… haha. Too much is never too good!

Songkran serves a contemporary Americanized Thai dishes located along 8th Avenue in Chelsea. The ambiance is unassuming and it gives a relaxing vibe, It’s BYOB,(you may grab your bottle of wine next door) and they do not charge any corkage fee. The waiter came to us after we were seated and offered to open our bottle for us, +1 extra star for that. We started our dinner with tom yum and tom Ka kai, both soups are pretty conventional. The Thai fried chicken on the other hand is crispy, a bit spicy, the meat was well cooked and suited our palate perfectly well. We had red curry fish and Thai fried rice as main entrée to share, both dishes were delicious, the freshness of ingredients are unmistakable. With good costumer service and its reasonable price I am already plotting my next visit here very soon.
