My friends liked coming here for Thai. I don’t get the appeal. The curry is too sweet for my liking. The pad see ew is really oily. Portions are decent however. Prices are average for manhattan I suppose but there’s just a lot of better places.

I usually like Spice as a place to grab a quick meal with friends after work or when I’m in the neighborhood, but I don’t think I’ll be back after my recent experience. I made a reservation to meet with two former classmates. When I arrived, one of my former classmates was already at the restaurant. My other classmate said she would be 15 minutes late. When I asked to be seated, I was told they won’t seat a party unless they’re all present, which is ridiculous since the entire restaurant was empty. Instead of sitting at a table and allowing the two of us to order appetizers and drinks, we stood by the outside door waiting for the last in our party. I can understand not sitting an incomplete party if the restaurant is packed, but when it’s almost completely empty(on both floors), I can’t imagine a rationale for enforcing such a policy. Since they did, Spice lost money when we were at the restaurant, and they will not be getting any more of my business in the future.

ordered delivery from here last night. it came exactly in the amount of time it said it would(35 minutes). solid thai food — i love the drunk man noodles, they had a ton of flavor. the pad thai was also good but was a bit bland. overall, very classic and tasty

Had dinner here with a group of maybe 10. The food was great — very tasty. The service on the other hand was interesting to say the least. Most times, restaurants don’t bring food out until all members of a party can be served. Well, this place is different. I was the last to order from my party but my food came first — followed by a ten minute wait for any further food to come, followed by maybe a 40 min wait for ALL food to come. I’m not sure if this is just how they usually function. I understand that some food takes longer to make — I feel that they need to have a better way of facilitating the process so that all food comes out at the same time. I had chicken pad thai and enjoyed my selection. Definitely yummy and cooked well.

I’ve been to this branch of Spice in East Village and have yet to be disappointed. Me and boyfriend have developed«comfort zones» when it comes to restaurants in East Village and this Spice has become one of them. I always, without fail, get the thai spring rolls, the Drunk Man noodles and their Thai Iced Tea. Always so delicious and so satisfying. We also tried the coconut sticky rice once. Um, YUM?! The waitstaff is always so nice, and the food is always made to perfection. The only reason that I’m giving this place 4 stars is because the ambiance could use some work. Otherwise, I would absolutely recommend this place if you’re looking for great Thai food!

Really disappointed with this location’ mostly because the ones by union square and on the ues were so good. The flavor was lacking in my noodles they just tasted oily and my mom felt her fish wasnt too moist or flavorful. Would go back to Spice, but other locations. Clean atmosphere, nice service, no wait.

I have been to several Spice locations and this by far is my fav. I love the décor the food always comes out in less than no time an the drinks are delicious. I also really enjoy the happy hour which I believe ends at 8. The service is great here!

I had lunch here today, and it was pretty good. I enjoyed the stir fry, with fried tofu and coconut sticky rice, and had the steamed veggie dumplings as my appetizer. The food on a whole was good, but my fav was the coconut sticky rice… I LOVECOCONUTSTICKYRICE! This place did not get 5 stars because I did not like the ambiance(there was none), and the place could use some sprucing. Also when we were ready to order, we had to flag down a bus boy, who then flagged down our waitress. I also did not like that they never tell you if an item you ask for is an additional charge especially when NOT specified on the menu. I would return, but it isn’t a necessity… a quick lunch perhaps?

Imagine reading a take –out menu & having your order rang up at a higher price than what is written? Since I had ordered the dish a few days earlier I knew the price and questioned the«mistake.» I was told that they had upped the price but since«Spice» has multiple locations that did not want to reprint the menus. Really? The manager was called over & I explained the situation. A stoned faced young woman walks over and says and I quote, «I will charge you the lower price this one time only» Are you joking? Lower price that is the price on the menu! Has anyone ever explained to this establishment that it is «illegal» to make up your own prices? Living in the East Village for over 32 years I expect my restaurants to have ethics and know the law. Obviously«Spice» is not one of these restaurants and they just lost a customer because of their lack of integrity! I will spread the word to my neighbors. And one last piece of advice«Spice» hire«managers» who are trained to deal with customers.

I’ve been to spice in the past and loved it but this past Saturday was extremely disappointing. When out main dishes came both my dish and my fiancés were wrong. My fiancé ordered chicken teriyaki which later they informed us wasn’t on the menu, however the waitress didn’t say anything. With my meal I ordered shrimp with green curry. When the food came out my fiancé was given salmon teriyaki and I was given chicken not shrimp with my green curry. My fiancé is VERYALLERGIC to salmon, he took a small bite unknowingly and we had to leave immediately. I was so angry we were still asked to pay for our drinks and appetizer. Which we really shouldn’t have paid for. I’ve worked as a waitress’s and bartender at many restaurants and usually when something like this happens the bill gets comped. The entire ordeal was the waitresses fault. Needless to say his throat started to close luckily n he got a few hives but luckily I went to the deli and got Benadryl and it worked. Will not come back.

I love Spice! I hadn’t been to this location in the east village in a while. I usually order the same apps/entrée every time I indulge in Thai cuisine. But I really wanted to try something new. I DIDN’T REGRETANYTHING!!! Appetizer — puffy duck(absolutely delicious and very filling, the puff pastry was amazing)…Entrée — shrimp pad thai(my first time having pad thai and it was delicious)…very flavorful. My sister had the walnut shrimp app and the crispy half chicken which came with rice and veggies as an entrée. Her usual picks and She loved it all! We also had a side of pineapple fried rice. And I had a strawberry mojito! ITWASSOOOOGOOD!!! Now I remember how much I like this location. I’d give 5 stars BUT no because my only ‘issue’ if you will, is the shrimp in the pad thai still have the tails on them. Its like it interrupts the enjoyment of the eating experience. But other than that, no disappointments!

great menu selection, huge letdown… started off with happy hour drinks, the strawberry guava martini was very watered down. no bueno! for the food, we tried: –siam pork buns: overstuffed with meat, too much hoisin sauce tho, no biggie, just scrape the excess off. it’s quite tasty actually. –volcanic chicken: chicken was tender and juicy, sauce was too sweet. the server poured alcohol over the chicken to lit it on fire, good presentation, except the bitterness from the alcohol rendered the accompanying sauteed veggies inedible. the veggies end up being very bitter. –crispy pork belly: part of pick 3 for $ 15 deal. pork belly is fried and then sauteed in a super salty brown sauce, i fixed the saltiness with lime juice. if not, i couldn’t eat the dish. –calamari: salty coating to mask frozen taste, bleh. –pad thai with chicken: okay, too sweet. the overall theme for their food is overly sweet or salty, i couldn’t enjoy it and the watered down cocktail couldn’t fix my problems. good service, but meh, safe to say i won’t be running back in a heartbeat.

Food is always good here! The price is great for the amount of food you get. Friendly & attentive staff. Love that you get to sit outdoors for thai food, there aren’t much of those around.

Pretty good for a chain! their Pad Thai is great when your craving noodles and need a quick fix! Their drinks on the other hand, aren’t so great. Skip the mojitos and stick to the noodles!

When I get Thai delivery, this is my ONLY choice — specifically this Spice location! It comes within 30 – 35 mins and is always fresh and warm. I highly recommend the pineapple fried rice with shrimp, spicy basil, and massaman curry. Always reliable delivery.

Let me just start off by saying that Thai is my absolute favorite cuisine. It’s my go-to in almost every situation because it’s just so rare that I dislike a Thai restaurant. That being said, I really, really did not enjoy Spice. Everything was off. The height of tables and chairs were off to a point where I couldn’t sit comfortably. The restaurant was just a bit too dark. My friend and I both got noodle dishes(Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles) that was simply uninspiring – bland and dry. I still ate everything, but I didn’t leave feeling satisfied with my meal at all. With Thai restaurants all over New York City(and at least 4 in Spice’s immediate area), I definitely won’t be back again.

I remember when I first moved to New York, I was in love with Spice because I thought it was very good. Then, I revisited yesterday and I was slightly disappointed. We had the Mandarin salad and it was probably the best dish we got here. We also shared the summer roll but the skin was dry and hard. I got the drunk man noodles with chicken, shrimp and calamari and it is way too salty. My husband’s curry pork was average. I don’t know if I would come back again?

In hopes of having Ramen noodles at Matsukado, which sadly is now closed and replaced by Spice – same exact address 104 Second Avenue(6th and 7th Streets). The Power of One lunched at Spice on a day where the sun shined through after the storm. Spice is Thai cuisine catered to the American palette. The Yellow Curry noodle at $ 10.00 was immensely swimming in curry sauce. The lemongrass tea specifically for coughs at $ 3.00 per pot somewhat soothe my throat. The quality of food at Spice is average. Service is somewhat attentive yet without human emotion like a robot going through the motion of waiting tables and serving clients, no smile, no facial expression. The door to men and women’s facilties, respectively, are of medieval times where patrons are going to the dungeon. The inside lock of the medieval dungeon door is very Medieval Times! Spice is also equipped with three Dyson Airblade hand dryers, which my hands are quickly dried. Despite my disappointing lunch experience, Spice Girls have more Spice than this restaurant!
