Good enough selection for a smallish shop, laid out for easy browsing; bright and clean inside. The shopkeeper who was there when I went was very off-putting and condescending, though, when asked questions. It was a very uncomfortable vibe, and there are plenty of places where the staff are friendly even if they’re not quite sure what you’re asking for, such as Bottlerocket on 19th Street. I won’t be going back.

Let me tell you, It does not get any better then this place! Ive lived in the West Village for the past 2 years and have gone from place to place. Thanks to my French Bulldog chasing a small Boston in pink my wife and I accidentally found the place. She drinks wine as I bourbon. The selection of wine is fantastic, but as for bourbon, it doesn’t get any better unless u hit a place a little South called Kentucky. The owner and staff are full of knowledge and super friendly. I highly recommend this place. Im here once a week now! Fantastic!!!

Solid whisk(e)y selection. Attentive staff. Good prices for the area. SoC is my go-to liquor store in the WV. So much so that I wish they had one of those loyalty punch cards.

I love these guys. They treat you like you’re an old friend and always recommend the best wine. Not only that – they always have the best deals! It’s right around the corner so very convenient. Also – they deliver.

The beat selection of wine I have seen in NYC. I live in California and I saw not only the large, but the small one’s too. It was amazing. Best selection for the price in NYC.

If I have the time, I run over to Warehouse on Broadway. When I don’t, I come here. The selection is great,(except the bitters :\) the staff is knowledgable and friendly(once you get to know them) and always glad to help(even if you haven’t yet.) It is, unfortunately, balls overpriced. So if you’re in the neighborhood, running late and need a quick bottle of something good, come here. They’ve never steered me wrong.

Being a high-functioning alcoholic, this place is a pleasantly convenient little enabler right around the corner from me. The staff is polite, despite my inevitable bee-line for the $ 7.99 rack. They’re open pretty late and they have a massive selection. I’ve never been let down, and the employees have been helpful any time I needed anything(even on New Year’s Eve — go figure!) 3 stars for being a decent little local wine shop. An extra star for being close enough for me to visit almost daily.

This is my local quick-stop for a bottle of wine or liquor. I’ve always found the staff to be fairly amiable and helpful, especially when I’m staring at the fridge of white and have no idea where to start. The organization of the wines does seem a bit scattered, but my knowledge of wine is fairly limited anyway so regardless I have to ask one of the employees for help when I’m looking for anything specific. The pricing is about par for any wine/liquor shop in the area, so overall it’s a decent stop if you need a last-minute bottle of wine for a dinner party.

The staff is very helpful — especially when it comes to party-giving. Our company has used them for years. If we run out, they’ll gladly deliver more, and also are glad to provide samples for wine tasting. They even offered to set up a tasting in their shop, though we didn’t take them up on it. Ask for Brian.

This shop was surprisingly empty on a Sunday afternoon. The cheapest wine I could find was $ 7.99, which wasn’t stunning to me given my budget but manageable. Of the refrigerated wines, I only found one white at $ 7.99, so that decided it for me! There’s a sign that says minimum card charge of $ 15, but I was able to charge less than $ 9. Thanks!

Huge selection of wines. One whole side of the store is wine, the other liquor. The prices are not outrageous either, surprising, being smack dab in the middle of Carmine St. But I guess there are always good finds like this in the middle of SoHo/West Village. Only con: there’s no organization. Chilean wines are right next to ones made in Bordeaux. No labels. You have to really look to find what you want. The do gift wrap though… so if you need a bottle of wine wrapped and topped with a bow ASAP because you forgot to get a REAL present… Spirits of Carmine’s got your back ;)
