Best to come here if you’re more thirsty than hungry. The food is served in small portions. When thinking of the location, surrounded by bars and restaurants, this should not be the place where you stop to fuel up before or after a night out; but if you’re trying to drink up more, this is the place! The bartender was super nice, my fiends and i’s drinks were super strong, some might enjoy strong drinks, but our were to the point where we had to put water in them… Now, this is a «no no» for a bar tender, but I think he was just trying to help out to get his costumes tipsier on their night out. Again, some might appreciate his efforts. As soon as we saw we were struggling he asked to remake our drinks, which saved the experience at this restaurant.

Great spot! The food is consistently good and the staff is friendly and attentive. They have an excellent lunch special. I like coming here on warm sunny days when they open up the front doors and windows — makes for a really nice atmosphere. Highly recommend it!

I am so sad about my experience ordering from Sticky Rice tonight. I called and ordered for delivery at 7:34pm. I ordered 1 order of fried pork dumplings, 1 order of short ribs, and 1 chicken pad thai– this was for dinner for me and my boyfriend. The delivery person came and we realized that we received an order of chicken satay instead of chicken pad thai. I called right away at 8:25pm to let the restaurant know about the mistake so that they could bring the chicken pad thai, as that my boyfriend’s entrée. I also asked if there was rice that was supposed to come with the short ribs, as it was listed under«BBQ entrees» on menupages and it costs $ 15.95, but in actuality what came was so small that it looked like an appetizer and there was no rice. I was told that the short ribs don’t come with rice anymore but that they could bring me rice for $ 2 that they would charge additionally. I was surprised because I had expected the entrée to come with rice, especially since it was so small. If I were the restaurant I would have offered to give it to me free of charge this time as a courtesy for the mistake of not bringing the chicken pad thai, and that this would be causing a much delayed dinner. Not only was the man on the phone not apologetic at all when I had informed him of the order mistake but then by being so ungracious as to demand that I return the chicken satay and to want to charge me extra for white rice, he offended me as a long time customer. We ate what little food we had gotten delivered at that point and waited for the pad thai. It was delivered at a little after 9pm. I was so hungry that I ate cereal. It’s pretty silly that I ended up eating cereal for dinner when I ordered a $ 16 thai delivery entrée. I am so disappointed with my experience tonight that they will be losing a customer of 8 years over $ 2 worth of rice that probably costs them 25 cents. Mistakes happen, but it’s how you handle the situation that matters.

I thought the green curry was really spicy and had aromatics that made it more distinct than most Thai places. I’d return for their spicy curry.

Really friendly staff who offer great recommendations. The cocktails were delicious(we were a group of 5) so had an overall consensus they were all yummy. Good flavors with the mains and left feeling very satisfied and definitely got our money’s worth. The massamun curry had very good flavors.

I love their tom yum soup here, extra spicy with the spicy chili sauce on the side and you can ask for shrimp and squid. I also love the special drinks and the calamari. My favorite dish is the Thai Suki with cellophane noodles. It’s a cold dish mixed with veggies and seafood. This dish isn’t oily and I love throwing more of that side chili fish sauce on top. Honestly I don’t know many places in NYC that has this dish so when you’re looking for a healthy alternative, go with this.

I am OBSESSED with this place. I took a hiatus from Asian food after I got food poisoning from a Japanese-Chinese fusion place in Bay Ridge so I was understandably wary especially since I was thoroughly underwhelmed by the Thai place at War 4th. But this food was delicious and super vegetarian-friendly The only thing I would say is portions run on the smaller side, but delivery is quick

EVERYTHING is so good! Perfectly seasoned, crispy, or flavorful. This is by far my favorite Thai place in downtown Manhattan. The staff is so nice and delivery is right on time. Only downside is that the lunch specials are a lot smaller than you may think.

Walking into this restaurant, I had high expectations. The ambience is nice. Music started off with some nice house music then went into edm(eww). The food was just okay. I am a huge Thai food fan and this just didn’t met that bar. I came here with 3 friends and we decided to split everything. We started with the vegetables steams dumplings, thai dumplings, siracha wings, and papaya salad. The dumplings were so so. a bit cold. The sauce for the Thai dumpling made it good. Siracha wings were good. Spicy. Sweet. The papaya salad was fresh. You can definitely taste the fish sauce. I liked it but some people might not. For entrees we got the dirty duck fried rice with egg and pad see ew with beef. Very underwhelming. Pad see ew was extremely salty and the flavors were off. The fried rice was okay. Overly sauced yet bland. Duck was overdone and extra fatty. Wouldn’t come back. Server was also so so.

Waited 15-mins.for the lunch specials. A small quaint restaurant needs help in the kitchen. This should have been the hint for a group of 5. The Chili salmon Lunch box was 3″ long by 2″, it was too dry and it was drown in sauce. Chicken Pad Thai was mediocre. Salad was fresh. Beware of glass cups-one of them had old lip stick stain. Another one had a strand of hair along the rim. Go elsewhere.

Went to a rooftop nearby with some friends visiting and we got hungry. Checked Unilocal for nearby Thai food places and came up with sticky rice. It’s was one of the few places still open at 10:30 on a Sunday night. We got seated right away as it was not crowded at all. The food was very tasty and good portions. I almost didn’t get my bacon appetizer and had to ask for it twice and it ended up coming after my entrée. But it’s bacon so who can complain. My friends to this day still rave about how good the good was. It was a good choice.

I love it here! The food was da bomb. My friend and I got the pad Thai combo and I chose the pad Thai with chicken. For the side dish I chose the firecracker and the chicken satay. Firecracker-basically spring roll with spicy and sour sauce. Really crispy and well made. I rate this 5 stars. The chicken satay-pretty good. I think there should be more sauce. The chicken is really soft but could’ve kicked in a few more spices. I rate this four stars. For the pad Thai with chicken– the noodles were really soft. That’s a big plus for me. The chicken was really good. It’s really soft as well. The sauce was not as saucy as the Thai place I ate in bay ridge so I give the noodles 5 stars. I would come to this place again because the combo is just $ 9.90 and it makes you full. I think it’s worth it as well. The customer service was nice and the ambience is really pretty.

Sticky Rice serves traditional Thai dishes in an intimate setting. There is a nice brightly colored cherry blossom mural painted on one of brick walls, which helps open up the space & puts me in a happy place since they are one of my favorite flowers. I have been here serval times & I only recall being disappointed one evening due to a very busy night, so it wasn’t their fault. Now I try to avoid that experience & I always try to make it before or during happy hour so I can enjoy my favorite Mango Mojitos or Lychee White Sangrias. The menu includes BBQ meats, soups, & noodle dishes. My favs are the Pineapple Pork Appetizers, which includes rice & a sweet dipping sauce, the Tom Yum soup, & the Drunken Man Noodles. If you like your noodles hot & spicy then ask them to turn up the heat. It has a mild kick to them but I prefer it a little spicer. There are several banquettes, which is the best seating in the house. I personally feel that the bar is not a good place to sit. It is small & can feel tight, especially when people are passing by with orders or are going to the restroom. The glass bar is lit with pinkish neon lights that provides a cool touch which helps showcase their fully stocked shelves of wine, vodka, & more. Overall, I like the atmosphere, the food, drinks, & the service. Butterfly & June are the main staff members I usually see during my visits. They are attentive, sweet, & friendly.

I went to Sticky Rice with some friends for a Saturday night dinner. The prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are ample. You can BYOB, which is a great savings seeing as the menu drinks are rather pricey. The restaurant is modernly decorated and the servers are very friendly. It’s a nice place to start off an evening in the LES. I was debating between giving this restaurant three or four stars. I’m giving it three for the McSquid it passes off as calamari. What a very disappointing appetizer –and very different from a picture I’d seen on Unilocal! The calamari was«pop ems» sized and tasted like over fried flour. They had the consistency of White Castle clam strips(which aren’t bad in and of themselves, but certainly not what I’d expect from a restaurant). On to the good: I’ve been to the restaurant once before and ordered the NY Steak dish which comes with a spicy tamarind chili dip. I would order that again. This time around my friends and I ordered the basil chicken stir-fry, served with multi-grain rice(good), chicken pad thai(good), and pad see hew noodles with chicken(very good). We also ordered the passionfruit soda which was just the right amount of sweet and sour, though I can’t say I’d get it again for the price($ 3.50, I believe). I would come to Sticky Rice again for the ambiance and overall good(though not amazing) food. It’s on a happening block and there’s a lot you can get into any day of the week in the area.

BYOB! There is a $ 4 corkage fee per bottle/6 pack, which isn’t bad — considering I’ve been to other places that charge $ 10. You just have to order $ 15 minimum worth of food per person, which isn’t that hard considering the entrees are all $ 10+. If you don’t decide to BYOB, they have pitchers of sangria for $ 12, I believe — though I’m not sure how good that would be. To start, our table of five ordered some appetizers to share — the duck spring rolls, calamari and the firecrackers. The duck spring rolls were just okay. But that also might be because I’m not a big fan of duck to begin with. It was kind of dry. The calamari was really good — fresh and crispy. The firecrackers(chicken and thai herbs in a jacket of tofu skin) were meh. The tofu skin was chewier than most tofu skins I’ve eaten before. For my entrée, I went with the drunken man noodles. I love this dish but a lot of places make it way too spicy for my taste. So I ordered it «less spicy» and it was perfect for me. The portions are pretty big. We came on NYE at 8, with a reservation and the place wasn’t packed. I’m not sure how long the wait normally would be — but I would make a resso just in case. The place is small. I didn’t get to try their mango sticky rice for dessert so I’ll be back!
