I can’t really complain seeing that this spot is less than half a block from where I work and hits the spot when I crave«sushi» or seaweed salad. The staff is friendly and nice enough to make fresh rolls since I’m not a fan of avocado with my «sushi.»

I’m addicted to their spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls. They use real Japanese mayo so there is a slightly sweet flaor and they are awesome. The rice is just right, never gummy. And the inari sushi are the best in town! Now that my office has moved to Times Square, I still trek over for their stuff on a regular basis.

Sorry to burst your bubble, people, but if you respect your food, and especially your sushi, don’t go to this place! This is not fresh fish at all! They hide in the back while they make their«sushi» and overcharge your ass! I just saw it with my own eyes… they took a tuna steak out of the freezer and defrosted it in the microwave! Yes, to make my sushi! This should be a crime! My roll still had little ice particles when I got it… There is no sushi chef there, it’s the two ladies in the back that make it(you can’t see them cause they hide so you don’t see what they do) What a rip off! SUSHIEXPRESS Midtown East 230 Park Ave New York, NY10169 Ok, first of all they already violated the«No minimum Credit Card Charge» by having a $ 15 minimum purchase on a card and now this??? See link and report their ass:

If I need a quick fix for some Japanese food during lunch, I stop by this place as it’s just down the street from my office. It’s definitely fast, like the name implies. I usually order the udon noodle soup because it’s quite good and not too expensive surprisingly. Their rolls, on the other hand, seem expensive. And since everything is pre-made, honestly, I’m not sure how long that’s been sitting out there. The people are awfully friendly though.

I needed to grab a quick lunch while in this area so I stopped into Sushi Express. First: cash only. Second: this is a to-go place [all the sushi is already packaged and pre-made]. Third: the spicy mayo in the spicy tuna and salmon rolls is not the generic kind you find in most rolls. There’s some chopped scallions with a slightly vinegar-y taste in the spicy mayo – which gives it an interesting [and unusual] flavor. Finally: the sushi pieces are weak i.e. salmon, tuna… the pieces of fish are very thin and there’s way too much rice under them plus whatever purveyor they get their fish from, is possibly dyeing the fish because I noticed the rice was stained bright red from the salmon and tuna. They have gyoza and some dessert stuff but I’d stick to the spicy rolls if you ever stop into this place.

I saw this place, but did not visit, a while back just wandering around my work neighborhood. I had forgotten about it until I recently when I went looking on Unilocal for new sushi places to try near work. I’ve been looking for more of a take out style place.(my favorite sit down place is Sushi Time) Based off the reviews and remembering it looked like a nice place when I first saw it, I stopped by and was very pleased I did. I had a simple spicy tuna nine piece($ 6.29). It was fresh, had quite a bit more tuna than sauce, and the sauce had its own unique flavor. YUM! I haven’t had a spicy tuna that tasted exactly like this, it was still predominantly what one would think of as classic spicy tuna but had a slight bit more to it, that I think was due to scallions in their sauce. They also had a little candy dish with free Japanese candies at the register. FUN! I will be going again, often.

This is my favorite place to get take out sushi for lunch. The sushi is always fresh and the service is very quick. Don’t worry if you see a line out the door, it moves very fast. Note: The entrance is on 45th Street.
