In from Charlotte and stopped in here for a bite. Excellent rolls, great service down to the green tea after dinner. Will come back.

This place is hidden so to find it look hard on 56th. Came here with a bunch of coworkers we enjoyed ourselves and the sushi. I would have to say they need more staff to work both floors because the servers looked like they were running around without heads. All and all a good experience.

Stopped in for a quick dinner after work knowing nothing about this place. I was very pleasantly surprised– the service was fast(but not too fast) and the rolls were delicious. I’m pretty picky about sushi, I don’t mess with anything fake or containing cream cheese(what is that ish?!) and what I got here was fresh tasting and perfect. I will come back often.

This was right around the corner from the hotel I was staying at for the work week and I was craving some sushi. I read a review about how good the udon was so I ordered that as well. I was solo so I sat at the sushi bar in the back — the service was good and the food was tasty and not overly priced. I will likely be back when I’m traveling because of the convenience.

Came here for dinner and was hoping that this place would satisfy my sushi cravings. Unfortunately it did not. Came here with a friend and decided to get the sushi and sashimi for 2 for $ 51. It was supposed to be different selections from the chef, but it turned out to be upsetting. The selections were very basic and the quantity was small. For that price you can get more at other places. Decided to order another special roll and it was literally just 4 pieces for $ 12. I’m not too impressed with this place. I gave them stars only because the employees were nice at least. But I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re craving for sushi.

This restaurant is very historical restaurant in the middle town. The food is always fresh, and never get disappointment. During the lunch time, it is always busy, that’s why you need a reservation before you go. Yesterday I visited the restaurant and ate Rocky Mountain and spicy Dragon was soooo good!!!

I have to say I liked this place, with a relaxed feeling and attentive service. Price level was also attractive. However the food was only mediocre, probably I have ordered the wrong thing — oyako don. It was a bit lack of flavor and chicken meat was so dry that it almost fell off the egg. It seemed like their sushi combo was a good bargain so would probably give a try next time.

Wednesday night dining was a breeze at this sushi bar and restaurant. While communication was at times difficult with the staff, it was more than made up for by the taste of the sushi. Choice selections of Yellowfin tuna, salmon and roe were fantastic. Well worth going but bring your wallet, as is typical with most sushi restaurants

Thrown out of restaurant by a surly maitre’di who was annoyed because we didn’t realize that«lunch» table«only booked for an hour. Absurd. Ann– get new staff. Was embarrassed with ungraciousness and many other area sushi better. Disgraceful.

Business lunch with co-workers. Overall experience was good. Service was fast and on point. We got one of the big samplers for 3 and a rainbow roll plus edamame, and cold sake(not my choice, I prefer hot). The sushi, rolls, and sashimi were all good… probably 3 to 3.5 stars. I’ve had better elsewhere. It wasn’t cold enough. The rice paper felt stale though the rice was good. I give 4 stars bc service was great. And the décor of the whole place is wonderful. Clean and fresh. Including the bathrooms. They’re a busy place for lunch so they must be doing something right. It’s a good place to try out of you’re looking for a sushi place. Enjoy!

I really wanted to love this place — I am in desperate need of a go-to sushi spot in midtown. I saw from previous reviews that this place was featured on a korean tv show and so probably operated by koreans. I actually found that korean-operated sushi restaurants have some of the freshiest and cost-effective menu offerings, especially out in queens. I was hoping for the same match here in midtown but was sadly let down. The Sushi Deluxe $ 19 which has 9 sushi items and 6 pieces of a california roll was mostly rice. The fish slices were so finely thinned that I felt like I was eating fish paper. The california rolls were tiny with very little avocado or crabmeat inside. In fact, there was so little of the filling that the rice was actually rolled into and on the outside of the roll. Price comes out to $ 23+ with tax and delivery. No soup or salad included either. Very disappointed in the food quality given the price. The reason for 2 vs 1 star — at least I wasn’t poisoned but definitely won’t be back.

Solid lunch spot for sit down Japanese fare. If you’re looking for grab’n’go, this isn’t it(Go to Glaze Teriyaki next door for that), but it’s still fairly quick. There’s two levels of seating, so this place rarely has a wait. On a recent visit, I ordered some sushi rolls and a nabeyaki udon. Standard salad came with my meal. Unfortunately, it was drowned like a dead rat with ginger dressing, and a pool of liquid sat at the bottom of my bowl — sort of gross. Sushi rolls are better — the fish here is pretty fresh, but the enveloping seaweed(nori) is damp and uncrispy. My udon, on the other hand, came piping hot and delicious. It was adorned with chicken pieces, fish cake(pink and white), soft boiled egg, scallions, mushrooms, and shrimp tempura. I wish they put the tempura on the side as it was a soggy mess when it arrived. Other than that, service is polite and efficient, and I was in and out of the joint in under 30 minutes for a three course meal. Not bad. I’d go here again for a quick Japanese sit down lunch.

Had dinner here with my sushi-loving teen after a Monday afternoon visiting MOMA. The fish quality was fantastically fresh. The price was super reasonable. $ 51 for a huge sushi boat for 2. My teenager also noted the freshness and quality of the sashimi — there were zero stringy threads of muscle or cartilage in the fish. Yes we ate it all — but we have really great appetites, and thankfully high metabolisms! We also had miso soup, an appetizer of shishito peppers, and red bean ice cream for dessert. Total price for 2 was $ 71. I call that an NYC bargain, and plan to come back here.

Are you kidding me? I was traveling to NYC on business. The law firm I was visiting ordered sushi for lunch from Sushiya. It was very good, so I decided to go back the same evening with my wife for dinner. We had a sushi meal fit for two kings, with the centerpiece being the Sushi and Sashimi for two. The fish was amazingly fresh. How do I know? Because my wife who is extremely sensitive to the fishy smell that increases the longer the fish stays out of the water, and who is extremely picky in what fish she eats for sushi(mostly salmon, maybe some yellowtail) loved almost every kind of fish we were served. This was unbelievable. And at the end the bill was only $ 70! What??? That’s about half price of what we would pay in our favorite spot in Cupertino, and this is in a prime Manhattan location right next to 5th Avenue. No, seriously, are you kidding me? I’m ordering lunch from there again today, and I’m probably going back for dinner again tonight. This place is awesome!!!

Very average, not bad, not great. Had the chirachi, which was ok. Decent portion, pretty fast, but a bit disappointed with the choice of fish. Beer was good though.

This is a Midtown sushi spot very popular with the suits. Very standard traditional rolls and nothing out of the box that is going to wow you. But a good trusted choice if your in the area. The service is sometimes scattered during the lunch rush and they might forget things like a side of spicy mayo or those lemons you were promised with your water. Overall OK experience for some fresh sushi during your lunch break.

Gotta give them another star, as I’ve been going in myself to pick up orders for my boss quite a few times over the past few months, and, today, decided to try their special rolls for my lunch. The restaurant is always clean, the hostess always lovely, welcoming, and friendly, the staff pleasant, efficient, and professional, pricing on bar with other places in the area, and, my, oh my! All three special rolls were phenomenal! All flavors stood out on their own, the presentation was lovely, and the pieces just melted in my mouth! Tried the Hot Ocean Roll(the scallops on top were done to Gordon Ramsey satisfaction!), the Salmon River Roll(each type of salmon held its own and shone through), but, damn. That Final Fantasy Roll. Worth. Every. Penny(and that would be this frugal-meister not complaining about a roll just shy of $ 20). Go. Now. ps — They also offer fatty tuna, though I didn’t see it on the pick up/delivery menu. The boss has ordered it. Mind you, 5 – 6 slices of sashima are around $ 50 – 60. But worth it.

Had a late night dinner there tonight as we were close by for an event. Found the place on Unilocal and I do wish people would highlight the food commentary in addition to the voluminous items on everything else that we all write about. It was not as bad as the Unilocalers made it out to be, and if I had just gone on stars ratings by many people on the current web site we would not have gone there. I felt That the words, or lack of words on critical topics were more important than the ratings of some Unilocalers. Ratings on pure service or delivery are not useful! It was late so it was quiet but we we were seated promptly and were drinking a glass of sake soon after seating. Food was the shrimp tempura with spicy mayo. The tempura was not cooked through sufficiently and the batter was a little damp, which made the taste a little less than ideal for a crispy dish. Could have cooked better. Entrée was an assortment of sushi and rolls which were all edible but nothing special. The salmon was fresh and was the more fatty lower grade cut. The mackerel was a nice cut and the eel was fine and tasted good. Pieces were smaller than I am used to and the rice was a little crunchy, suggesting it may have sat for a little. For the price they charge for a single piece of sushi, I would have expected some better quality and larger pieces. Not terrible but points to a lack of attention to detail. The rolls were all ok. There was nothing special about the taste and the presentation was nice. Spicy tuna avocado with a rice paper wrapping was refreshing and tasted fresh. The avocado and eel was fine although I searched for the eel… The other two rolls were similarly acceptable. Overall an OK experience. Probably go back if I am in area and want a quick meal if I cannot find another place.
