I don’t know how you can experience anything less than 5 stars at Tacos Grand Central? It’s literally a walk-up taquería with a grille and cashier in the building in Midtown East off 43rd& Third. —- Not a hot taco stand/truck. Not a sit-down restaurant. Just a physical«hole in the wall» spot that offers pickup or delivery(between 34th&55th Streets and First & Sixth Avenues). —- Again… No bitchy host. No reservation required. No indoor/outdoor smoking area. No chance of being too wasty off margaritas because there’s no bar. And no slow server to destroy your lunch outing. Rather, Tacos Grand Central sell favorites like burritos, quesadillas, tacos and chips six days a week starting at 11am with no added fuss! For example, there are two«options» for their tacos… — Option A: cilantro and onions — Option B: lettuce, tomato and cotija cheese So you start by picking chicken, streak or pork… Then select the topping package… and then finish with additional ala carte add-ons you might like, such as: pico de gallo, muenster cheese, guacamole, etc… Five minutes later, BOOM! You’re set! And this isn’t to say they won’t customize a taco exactly to your desire too! We ordered six tacos with grilled steak, cilantro, cotija and muenster cheese, lots of limes, green(SPICY) salsa on the side, and one order of chips for $ 24! I guess you might consider its neighbors El Rio Grande, Salvation Taco, Sinigual, or even Zengo if you’re looking to dine in style… but, if you want a damn taco, don’t overlook Tacos Grand Central! Best tacos in Manhattan thus far! Because there was no fuss! And the tacos were AMAZING!!!

You know that thing where you are craving a burrito bowl from that one place? Well, keep walking and go here. The most expensive bowl is $ 10 and no up charge for guacamole… And it’s SOGOOD. In fact all of their menu is priced to be even amounts with tax which is AMAZING if you pay with cash. It is tiny — think of it as a food truck that you can always find.

Cheap and good! Closed on Sundays… I like to get the steak platter and while the meat isn’t the best quality– really just one step up from being ground beef– it is still delicious and seasoned well. Nice hearty portions, green salsa is spicy, fresh, and tasty, and I love their beans.

COMEHEREFORTHATTIMEOFTHEMONTH — TACOPANGS When the urges come, you gotta satisfy them. A block west of Grand Central and you’ll find a small counter with the square footage of a walk-in closet! The Tacos are top-notch(you’re thinking, «I hope so, it’s called „Tacos“ GC»). Well, everything tastes amazingly fresh. The pulled pork from the Carnitas(roll the ‘r’ people) was very flavorful but slightly dry on this day. This is fine because that green cilantro lime sauce is the perfect addition for EVERYBITE. IT’S SOGOOD. Be careful the red sauce has a little kick The Steak Quesadilla was a bit bland: small cubed steak with some melted cheese(swiss maybe). But again the green and red sauce elevate everything. Quesadillas are $ 7 and Tacos are $ 3.25 each. OH, make sure you get a Jarritos. The Grapefruit and Mandarin are great easygoing crowdpleasers but if you’re looking for something more exciting try the Tamarind! Stay thirsty my friends! GETSOME TACOSSSSayeeeeee Recommended: Carnitas Taco, Guacamole, Jarritos(Tamarind, Grapefruit, Mandarin), Extra container of green sauce

I tried all three tacos, the carnitas are BYFAR my favorite. The flavor was amazing and I haven’t had a taco like that in years. I’m going back for more. It’s fast, delicious and pretty decently priced for what you’d find in midtown.

A steak buritto review I do not claim to be an expert. + I loved the salsa and hot sauce. The size was perfect. - I do not like mushy rice. I like larger steak pieces. The salsa was amazing! I have had better burritos, for sure. Really wanted to love them.

Fast, tasty and reasonably priced. I have had the tacos(good) and the burrito(fine but not remarkable) but my go-to is the steak quesadilla($ 8). It kills. It’s simple and delicious. They give you enough fresh salsa, sour cream and guacamole on the side to make every bite a «money bite.» Be forewarned, however: at peak lunch hours the line can be prohibitive. I always go after 1:30 to avoid lengthy waits.

This is a really great place to grab lunch/dinner quickly at work, especially in midtown east where there is not a great selection of quick Mexican food. They also have delivery/pickup options that is great for when you are in a rush at work. They do not, however, have any seating etc(although sitting in the food court area in grand central a block over is an option) The carnitas and steak options are really quite tasty! I have been here a few times and the only issue has been quite a line/wait can build up at popular times.

Ordered the grilled steak quesadillas, which includes cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole — the quesadillas were authentic, fresh, tasty, appropriately sized and moderately priced at $ 8. The quesadillas could’ve had a bit more kick to them(maybe spicier?), but on balance were a delicious treat. Will definitely be coming back…

It was a Thursday like any other. Craving set in and my first thought was taco. Saw the other reviewers spoke kindly of TGC, so I thought«okay.» It’s the best decision I’ve made all hour. My taco turned into a burrito because I’m a growing boy. And, it was delicious. The food was so good, I’ll go there repeatedly. It helps that it’s located an entire city block from where I work. I hope to see you all standing out front. I’ll be the man in the bib.

Great place to grab a bite before catching your train in Grand Central. It’s super cheap and quick really quick. For about $ 6 I’ll get 2 steak tacos, and your order is ready in just a few minutes.

Delivery was less than 30 minutes. Ordered chicken quesadilla and chips with pico de gallo and guacamole. So good! I would just suggest to add an option for a bigger size of pico de gallo or guac for the chips. The chip to dip portion was a little off. I will be ordering again :-)

So there’s not a lot of Mexican restaurants in this area, let alone inexpensive taco joints, but they’re okay for what they are. They’re a little taco spot where the old Roomali used to be. The address says Lexington, but really it’s on the south side of 27th St, a few doors in from Lex. When you walk in, it’s very clean and bright — has a nice ambiance given its small size, and Spanish music is playing loudly in the place. There are a few chairs/tables off to the side on the right, but immediately in front of you is the view into the kitchen and the register on the left. The menu is pretty standard — tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tostadas, burgers, and sides. Nothing fancy, but that’s completely fine because all you want is a typical /traditional taco or burrito from this place. The prices are pretty good too. I ordered a veggie burrito and asked for jalapenos, along with a side of chips and pico de gallo. After I ordered and paid, I sat down for a few minutes and the food was ready to go — really quick! When I got home to eat it, the burrito was OK. The tortilla was big, but nothing fancy… your normal large flour tortilla. In hindsight, I should’ve asked them if they could grill it, but luckily the burrito didn’t fall apart. After taking a few bites in, I realized why — my burrito was essentially all rice. I had a small dosing of pinto beans and maybe a few veggies, but the main thing I tasted was the rice. It wasn’t bad, don’t get me wrong, but just waaaayyy too much rice for a veggie burrito. I didn’t taste any of the veggies, let alone know if they were in there. I saw little tiny diced jalapenos, but that’s about it. The guac was tasteless, but I did enjoy the sour cream. I’m sure their meat entrees are better, but for vegetarians(or people who want something veggie), I’m not so sure about this place. They need to add more veggies, some more sauce to make it pop, less rice, more beans, and change the guac recipe. However, the pico de gallo was pretty tasty with the chips. They tasted homemade, so that’s refreshing. I may go back when I’m craving some Mexican food, as there aren’t many good places in the area, but I hope they fix up their veggie game in the meantime.

I really wish I discovered this place sooner when I worked closer to Grand Central Station. I’ve always walked by but never realized this place was known for amazing Mexican food. It really caught my eye on Cinco de Mayo last year and I saw a line half an avenue long. I finally tried it and got the steak quesadilla(twice!). For 8 dollars after tax, it comes with 4 large slices of cheesy, beefy flour quesadilla, fresh guacamole, tangy salsa and a good spoonful of sour cream. It is so good!!! I’ve had plenty of quesadillas in my day and this just surpasses them all. With such simple ingredients, they just make it so good and fresh. The flour wrap retains its fresh-off-the-grill crisp and is perfectly balanced with plenty of cheese and steak. I can’t wait to go back and try every taco. Tip: when you start eating, remove the quesadillas from the take-out container right away because the salsa is watery and will soften the quesadilla sitting at the bottom. So yummy!!!

Objective: Just opened 11÷21÷15 in the old Roomali space(entrance is on 27th street). Tacos Grand Central is the second outpost(original being in Grand Central). Simple décor(3 – 4 tables with chairs) and menu with the standard tacos, burritos, etc… Seems to mimic the Grand Central menu. Subjective: very helpful staff; did take-out and food was out in less than 5 minutes. Ordered 3 tacos(chicken, steak, carnitas) to start with onions and cilantro(other options including guac, pico cost extra). Chicken was a little dry, but steak and carnitas were flavorful and juicy. Next time, will try adding the guac and also try the horchata. Price about $ 10 for 3 tacos; pretty comparable to other places in the area(La Posada). Good enough to return for simple fast-food when needing that taco fix.

I’ll give this place a 3.5 out of 5. I round down because it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great… a Pretty Good! Al pastor and steak were pretty good. the meat was delicious and tender. The chicken was a bit dry and eh. Overall… the tacos were good but bland. not enough flavor. i thought the al pastor(while had the most flavor of the 3) should have had more!!! their green sauce isn’t bad. 3 tacos for around $ 10 in NYC is standard and not bad at all. Good for a quick taco fix, but there def are better spots in the city… like los tacos No. 1

I have walked past them a few times and there’s always a group of ppl waiting to get food and I think i might have eaten here before but not sure, so this time i decided to go. Now you have to understand this place is LITERALLY a whole in the wall like 4X10, now how they fit 3 – 4 ppl and cook in there is beyond me. It’s strictly pick-up Like all other places I could not make up my mind on what to get so asked for house speciality which was«Carnitas Quesadillas» well so be it. My 2 cents — decent quantity, good quality and good taste. Might not be real slow cooked carnitas but it did the trick. But for the shop that they are a bit overprice maybe its just me i mean they are just A$ short on every item compared to say Dos Toros with all the bling they have. All in all its a decent place to get tex-mex, i see me coming back.

You know I’ve never been to Mexico, but these taste as realistic as they come, and I’m told these are just as authentic. My girlfriend is very fond of tacos from Mexico and she recommended me this place because these are as close as they get. I ordered the al pastor and chicken tacos topped with cilantro and onions and they were great. Perfect with a little squeeze of lime on top. Perfect lunch spot for me in midtown.

Had the chicken plate for lunch. Solid amount of food here but the chicken was not that good. I actually enjoyed the beans and rice more. I did not have high expectations from literally one of the smallest hole in the wall spots ever, but a few coworkers told me to try it for my Mexican food fix. Might come back and try something else since it’s a convenient lunch option.

Had the steak burrito with no pico and extra guacamole. 1st time here, food was very good and truly authentic. However, the rice in the burrito did taste a little soggy. But maybe that’s because of the extra guacamole. Will definitely try it again. Wish they had shrimp burritos though.

Don’t be deterred by the long line — they work at a good pace and get your order to you quickly. Ordered the ½ steak/chicken plate and it was enjoyable enough. I thought it was a bit bland without the salsa that they provide(well that’s what it’s for), and I do think they give you a good portion for the price. I also like that they accept credit cards(wasn’t expecting that). Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed by the beans that come in the plate(I guess also in the burrito). Or perhaps I am still upset that the line at Chipotle was too long that I had to give this place another go. Not my first choice, but I don’t think a terrible option in the area.

I was so excited to be able to get delivery tacos… Not anymore. The«steak» was certainly far from carne asada, and was overcooked. The carnitas was fine(thus 2 star instead of 1 star). The chips are thick, not the traditional tostido style. The guacamole was about the only thing I enjoyed. The delivery notes mentioned, «if the doorman won’t let you up, call …-…-…» Instead they left it with the doorman in which I had no idea. 15 – 20 minutes later I called to check on my order, since it had been over an hour and a half. They said oh yeah, we left it with the doorman… With this situation, obviously the fault falls to the person at the front desk as well, but mostly to the delivery driver in which I had already specified to get a good tip. I can’t speak to the location, as this was delivery. I won’t be visiting the location based on this experience.

Tacos here are okay. A little bland in my opinion but if you’re in the area, it’s worth a quick bite if you’re starved. After eating at Broncos tacos and my favorite Los Tacos #1, everything else fails in comparison. Nothing special about this place other than its quick and it’ll hold you over until your next real meal.

An absolute must for lunchtime near grand central. Their tacos and burritos are fabulous and are made quickly to order. This is the perfect stop for grabbing something on the go or even just to grab a snack away from the office. Even though there isn’t a place to sit and eat there is a public seating area on 3rd avenue and 44th street(behind Luke’s lobster) that is the perfect spot to sit down and enjoy your Mexican fare! I know they offer delivery but it’s more expensive. Take the chance to get outside and walk around the neighborhood and get some fresh air with your tacos! Don’t be deterred by the line they get your order out quickly!

If it weren’t for the line outside at lunch hour, you’d totally miss this place. It’s a booth! Now my favorite taco spot in Midtown! Love ya Chipotle but everything’s just right with these tacos — the fresh, steaming hot soft corn tortillas, the little containers of green sauce, the fresh ingredients! Bravo! Oh! And the Guac kicks A** !!

I’m crazy about great tacos — especially those that are within walking distance of work. As I was looking for this place(I had read that it was pretty much a hole in the wall without seats — thanks Unilocal!), I passed by the dollar pizza place with a line out the door. Those dollar pizza people don’t know what they’re missing at Tacos GC! Okay, so maybe the tacos aren’t $ 1 each but I say that three tacos, which is a good portion for lunch at $ 10.50 is just a little above the $ 10 benchmark. All the tacos(chicken, carnitas, beef) are $ 3.22. I absolutely love the carnitas tacos. The chicken was a bit bland, but to be honest they are authentic. It is the typical tortilla, meat, onion, cilantro with a side of lime and some green sauce(which for my non-spicy lovers, like me, is spicy!). It was quickly made and ready to go in a plastic container. There is also a seating area nearby(closer to the Lexington side of 43rd). Tacos and outdoor seating area made my Monday perfect!

Tacos within spitting distance of Grand Central that aren’t from Chipotle? Sign me up! This place is quite small and has no seating at all(they can barely fit a grill), but what they lack in space they make up for in taste. Especially the carnitas taco. It’s simple but delicious. Very well spiced and accompanied by onions, cilantro and two corn tortillas. The steak taco was a bit forgettable, so I’d steer clear in a subsequent visit. If you work in the area, you really should check it out. There’s a dearth of tasty, independent options around here… but Tacos Grand Central is a diamond in the rough.
