The back page closed ! Marshals seized the premises. Rent issues. Too bad I liked their wings.

I came here the night of the NCAA basketball championship game and it was crazy crowded(like every bar in the city!). LUckily we were able to get a table, get some beer, and some food! The onion rings were beer battered and delicious. The fries and nachos were tasty as well. Beer was fine, not to high of a price, but not a great deal either. The waitress was on top of her game even with how busy it was. They have SO many tv’s its amazing. They basically line the whole perimeter of the bar. AND, saving the best for last, this place has THEBESTRANCHDRESSING in NYC!!! I mean it, not the bottles gross Hidden Valley Ranch, the real creamy, buttermilk, deliciousness that real ranch should be. Don’t miss out on this, it’s very important!

Awesome buffalo wings. The best I’ve had in the city, lots of meat, great sauce. The hot wings aren’t too hot, about a sip on water/beer every two wings. The chicken tenders are pretty good although sort of bland. So just make sure to get sauces, which basically goes without saying. Their fries aren’t that great, just basic run-of-the-mill things. Solid prices for the food, although I’ve had only appetizers. The beer choices are fine but what gets me about this place is the service. Now, the ladies behind the bar usually smile and are cordial enough. But they’re certainly not outgoing(which I value in a bartender) and they never give rounds on the house. Most other bars do in order to get a bigger tip or just endear themselves to the customer. But everything is by the book here. The place looks good on the inside, with enough TVs and they’re great about turning a TV to whatever game you want. They refuse to acknowledge themselves as leaning toward any teams, which is reinforced by the fact they have Yankees, Mets and Red Sox memorabilia hanging around. I have noticed Ohio State and Kansas fans checking out games there. I’ve only seen it packed a handful of times, which is why I like it. I enjoy walking in on a slow Saturday afternoon in the winter and grabbing wings. If nothing else, The Backpage is definitely worth going to for the buffalo wings.

I stopped in with a good friend for Happy Hour but no one seemed happy once we were inside. We grabbed a table and waited to be greeted by a bartender or server. After a few minutes a bartender kind of threw two menus on the table. I’m thinking that maybe the dining room server was late so he took out his frustration on our menus. My friend ordered a bottle of Bud, myself a Crown on the rocks. We also ordered sliders and calamari to accompany our cocktails. The calamari was good but the marinara was flavorless. The sliders were bad. Stale buns and lukewarm burgers aren’t the optimum combination you want. Ours was the only food order so presentation and finish should have been much better. The ambiance is that of a sports bar and there were several large flat screens tuned into ESPN. The bar sits about 15 and there are about 12 two tops. The dining room can accommodate about 50 people. The restroom is located downstairs. Our bill came out to $ 40.20(3 rounds/food) but for some reason my checking account is showing a $ 48.24 and charge. I’ll have to stop in later to rectify this situation. Walk on by…

This is a great place to watch a game, but besides that the Buffalo Chicken Salad is Out of this world!!! The buffalo wings are great, with the sliders, but again the BUFFALOCHICKENSALAD!!! I live in Brooklyn, and this is the ONLY place that makes this salad worth the drive all the way uptown!

Okay, I’ll give credit for giving us the $ 3 Happy Hour Bud or Bud LIghts. Not a big accomplishment by any means, but our first bartender was pretty cool and notified us that it was either draft or bottle. Fair enough. It just went down hill after the middle-aged mother of a bartender took over the shift. She was absolutely laughable. If anything, I should give this place five starts due to the constant entertainment of watching and having this woman who was trying as hard as she could to hold on to every ounce of her youth serve us drinks. The arrogant attitude came out as soon as she stepped out. Looked like she stepped out of a Britney Spears video with the ultra short skirt, blouse with only a few buttons keeping the shirt up in the middle. All great don’t get me wrong except for the fact that she was about 45. Makeup caked on her face like she was Tammy Faye to hide the inevitability of age. You could smell the trail of some old shit perfume like Obsession following her around since she probably bathed in it. I think my grandma uses the same stuff. Sad really. Might have been something when she was 18 – 20, but that can only take you so far. The only thing she was missing were a pair of hot pants. The worst part was that she totally screwed us on our drinks. Had all of our drinks during the Happy Hour and had our last round at 6:45 from the 7pm deadline for the specials. She charged us full price for our last. Not a big deal, but when she acted insulted when we pointed out that she made a mistake. Then she said that she«wasn’t supposed to do Happy Hour on game days» even when there was a advertising board outside the front door. When she told us to «suck it up» that was pretty uncalled for. I guess its okay to look past since she’s got to be pulling pints on a Wednesday night for the rest of her life. I though we being nice when we were willing to look past that she was only interested in talking with the geeky, older, bald dudes who were acting like a bunch of ex-frat boys who were trying to relive their college days. Cut from the same cloth, I guess. She should have been at home taking care of her kids instead of trying to flaunt her cellulite. Nice. Overreacting? Honestly, I don’t think so. Unlike most of the patrons walking in the joint, we were sober when we left. Pretty easy when you don’t keep yelling for Jaegerbombs. Then again, those are the type of drinks that the bartender needs to feeding to her patrons to make herself seem 21 again and desirable. I’ll probably find her in a few years in Newark tending bar at the local trucker bar on a weeknight. Don’t believe me? Have a pint at The Back Page. You can’t miss her. Just follow the person who smells like 1987. Tons of places to have a drink and spend your money in the city. You don’t need to go to The Back Page.

Went here for a Yankees — Tigers game on a Friday night because I had heard it was a decent sports bar on the upper east side. The bar was almost empty with 2 or 3 other tables there and a few scragglers at the bar, possibly due to the $ 6 beers, which I will never get used to. There was no environment and the food was average at best. Did not try the wings which apparently are the go to move here. Service was average, with a hint of bad attitude. There have to be dozens of better places in the area.

Ah St. Patrick’s Day — what a way to start out the late afternoon with some Guinness. There are tons of bars that litter the UES and sadly our go to spot was packed. Luckily, my co-worker got out early and scoped out quite a few spots and found this place. It wasn’t obnoxious at all and if you manage to plow through the inebriated men in uniform, there’s a section in the back where my friends and I had a couple of Guinnesses(sadly in a plastic Miller Lite cup). Our waitress was attentive and pleasant which was a surprise considering it was St. Patrick’s Day. She gave us our menus immediately, served our drinks and made sure we were comfortable. The place was packed up until 7:30pm when everyone started filtering out but for the amount of attention we received, this place gets 4 stars.

The most generic sports bar a man could find in any city, any where, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. Great-priced wings that really hit the spot, the general purpose beers and several big screens, with a just-older-than-college crowd and waitresses that are chatty and funny.

I came here once to watch a football game with a few friends that are die hard Giants fans. It was a decent place to hang for a few hours, but I grew tired of the obnoxious frat boys that seemed to be regulars here since they were chatting it up with their bartender friend. The Ughness was pretty high on the Ugh meter. It gets 2 stars because the décor is pretty cool for a sports fan. Some of the items that stood out were: Signed photos of the first and last pitch of Don Larson’s perfect game in 1956. A huge replica of the scoreboard at Boston’s Fenway Park(which has on it the exact stats as the 78 game in which Bucky Dent’s homer sent the Yanks to the playoffs.) Lackluster wings too. So this place was a one and done for me.

Finally ended up coming back… gotta say… not that impressed. I wasn’t impressed because there was about an inch out of every pint that was all head and the most disturbing thing was the wings. They were NOTHING like the last time I was there. Not even close. Plus wings here are $ 1/each. I expect with a premium price comes a premium wing.

Very very hungover today. but made the trek all the way up to 80s to meet up with some friends to watch the football games. it is VERY dark in this bar — but it has to be that way because many tvs in inside are on projectors. they had every game playing which was nice, but there just seemed like so much going on. the wait staff was very attentative and kept bring us pitchers of water. she was awesome. my quesadilla was pretty good, the wings were really good but very similar to hooters — i.e. plump and crispy. the burgers were big, but a better deal were the sliders for $ 8. the fries were big and potatoey and the french dip was also pretty good. good for watching football if you don’t care abotu light.

It’s a classy hood sports bar to watch games at without having to deal with a crowd of obnoxious, sweaty 23 year olds on the verge of a blackout(we’ve all been there). Ladies, the 26+ single types who genuinely love sports — this bar is for you. The bar tenders will make sure you are taken care of. Girls who pretend to like sports in order to chat up guys during commercial breaks, stumble over to the Stumble Inn. The only downside is that the big flat screens are a little too close for comfort to those sitting at the bar.

Was here for the NCAA game Monday night. Waitress was great — attentive and friendly, and it was CHAOS because this is where the KU alumni association congregates. Good mozzarella sticks, and beer selection. Panoramic TV’s, so 5’4″ me could see even with a gaggle of large dudes in front of me. ROCKCHALKJAYHAWK!

I am giving this UES establishment four stars based on the service that we had. Our waitress was unbelievable — nice, responsive, pleasant, patient, and attractive to look at, smiled a great deal, and wore appropriate clothing(rather than the waitress in the back room who was about to fall out of her spaghetti strap tank top). I met up with a few friends on Sunday to watch some playoff football. My friends got there at about 1:30 to ensure we got a table. I arrived at 3:15pm shortly after the Patriots began dismantling the Bolts. The waitress continually filled me up with water, as I was trying to rehydrate after a long weekend of drinking. As more time lapsed the bar became packed. We sat upstairs and had a view of ample televisions. My friends each ordered food and drinks, but I can only attest to the number of televisions that were in my line of sight, both HD and normal. Overall this is a great place to watch the game if you live in the area. My only beef with this bar was that one wall was completely covered with large mirrors, I would have preferred televisions.

LOVE their HD tvs. You find yourself with a panoramic view of television screens and your giddy eyes get all shifty and twittery with excitement. There’s a lot of seating considering the space, and there’s a big downstairs basement level with regular, smaller televisions. The bar’s upper floor was brim filled with alcohol and humans, and seats were impossible to score. So, what does a resourceful person like me do? I go downstairs, find one stool. I need another so I kindly ask the manager to open up their storage closet so that I can get an extra stool out. this one with back support. I then go back upstairs, find my waitress(I’m very sad I didn’t catch her name, she was an angel) and ask her where I can place two more stools without getting in the way and she kindly finds a fabulous spot. We bring up the stools and enjoy our Heinies and cheese fries. I leave the waitress a fat tip and walk out with a good buzz and football stats ringing in my ear.

Good bar that has great pub food and plenty of beer to keep you happy. The wings were excellent — not skimpy, with plenty of meat on the bone. The fries are ok — they are oversized and still have the skin on them. I am partial to McDonald’s fries, so I didn’t really like these. The service is great — very friendly and attentice. There are plenty of TVs, so you can catch any game here.

Honestly, it would only earn 2 stars but I was searching for the SF Giants anywhere in NYC and this was the only place not replaying the Yankee’s game, so I bumped it up 1 star. The space is huge and they have so many flat screens I can see why people come here to watch games. I bet this would be a fun place on college game days. Anyway, the drinks were light which was a downer and there was no one in there the night I made it in. Oh well, it served my purpose of having satellite tellie so I can’t complain too much.
