This is a landmark/historical spot in downtown NYC history, since ~1940(?) as a longshoreman’s/fisherman’s bar… there are some serious ghosts of NYC past in here… sadly, they seem to be in hiding, and this place has become a somewhat generic sports bar… that being said, there are really no more longshoreman or commercial fishing fleets at the southern coast of Manhattan, and even the Fulton Fish Market is now gone(& up in the Bronx), so not really sure who or what I was expecting when I came here — the neighbors are now basically the financial district and all the new luxury downtown housing towers… I am happy that this place is still standing and seems to at least have a bunch of the original wood inside, but meh… it still gets 5 stars b/c of the history of the place, as one of the oldest bars in Manhattan…

So disappointed, order the burger rare, it was past medium, other table mate ordered the burger medium it was well done. The ham and cheese sandwich was only half a sandwich, did the kitchen staff eat the other half? Ice tea served in a cracked glass. Waitress not too focus but nice. The place is dead on a Saturday night.

Dead of Saturday Night Wandering about the financial district and stumbled across this pub and grabbed a seat at the bar for a drink. Some mumbling bartender asked what we wanted to drink. My wife ended up with a light beer(really wanted a light style) and for me a dark beer(got a pale ale), oh well, both tasted ok. The Beekman has been around since the 1930’s but it is not ran like an old bar anymore. It is beautiful bar with a cool stained glass window saying The Beekman. There is just something missing here. It was Saturday night and it was dead in NYC. It makes you wonder how the place stays open when you know they aren’t making any money on a weekend night. The worst part is a couple of beers cost us 20 bucks with tip. We won’t be back and it’s ashamed because it is a beautiful classic looking pub. Thanks

Go if you get the chance. I’ve been a long time customer. Never had a bad meal. I love the corned beef dinner and Shepard’s Pie. I also love the liver onions and bacon!!! The wait staff, bar tenders and host(ess’) are absolute professionals. Food is great, atmosphere is authentic Irish Pub and a great place to catch a game and a cold one!

Normally hesitant to try a 3.5 star rating place. This solidifies my intuition… This place is THE worst! In my opinion, they get the overflow from the WTC traffic so there is no need to improve. If it weren’t for the fact that we had to use the bathroom and were sooooo hungry, we wouldn’t have stopped in. Hold it if u can people u will thank me. We ordered a burger. Yes, this place can even fuck up a burger. What we were served not only looked extremely unappetizing, but was basically the consistency of a hockey puck. The fries had potential had they not burnt them. JUSTDONTDOIT! There are many other places in the area. Or walk a few blocks to South Street seaport.

Nice Irish pub that I have gone to for lunch every so often. The beers and ciders are cold, the food is good. On My last visit I realized I haven’t reviewed this place yet. I’ve been coming for years, but I’m not really in the area often. The place is nothing special, it’s just cozy. Like most Irish bars, dark wood, televisions, music, you know, the standard fair. I almost always grab an icy cold Magners here though. Not sure why, but they just taste great in this place. I can usually throw down two or three before I realize what I’m doing. The pints are a bit expensive here though. I’m more used to the $ 4 – 5 bars, here a pint goes for $ 7. The food is good. From burgers, to sandwiches, and appetizers, I haven’t had a bad meal. On my last trip I got a pastrami sandwich with Swiss and fries. Not too big, but just enough to get you through the day. Good place to grab a few and a nice meal. The staff is also very nice.

This is a fabulous Irish gastropub. Located near Pace U. and the Civic area of downtown Manhattan, it is a convenient and delicious stop if you happen to be in the area. Their approach to potato skins leaves TGI Friday’s in the dust. The skins are truly baked, not deep fried and the cheese is real cheddar, not cheez whiz!(YUK) The bacon is crisp and the sour cream makes a lovely topping. All in all a very satisfying and delightful experience. The burgers are outstanding. Juicy, even when cooked medium. The meat is flavorful. Steak fries are good and the potato salad is exceptional! Shepherd’s pie and chicken pot pie are not to be missed as is the corned beef and cabbage. Desserts are excellent including the Key Lime pie and the apple crumb. The waitstaff is friendly, helpful and efficient. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food. This is the type of place to which you definitely look forward to returning.

Closer to a 3, but rounding it up to a 4 because nostalgia set in. When I lived in the Financial district 14 years ago, it was a good go-to spot. Sat at the bar. Burger and fries were decent. Beer was cold. Service was quick. Beyond that, there’s not much else to tell. The Financial District has changed so much over the years. Truth be told, I miss it when it was still a ghost town at night and on the weekends, and this was one of the few choices that remained opened. There’s a tear in my beer…

I was in town visiting some friends and we met up here to watch some March Madness games. The bartenders Nicola & Ritchie were awesome! They poured great drinks all night long and took great care of us. Can’t wait to go back next time I’m in town.

Happy St Patrick’s Day to my friends at Beekman’s! Wish I was downtown for my annual potato skins and stout! «Slante!» Good place for convo and small meetings, a toast after the long week/semester. Best potato skins ever. Friendly staff, and the music playing overhead… well, today the owners will translate with a smile and a story, haha. Go see for yourselves.

Of all the fake«Irish» pubs outside of the Emerald Isle, this one actually feels authentic. A well stocked bar and a menu that is long enough without being confusing. Warm welcome from the friendly staff and quick service, finding this place was an absolute godsend after spending too long in 1 °C temperatures. Good music and plenty of sport(US and European) on the many TVs, coupled with decently priced food puts this at 5⁄5 for a pub of this type.

AMAZING Ive eaten at the Beekman around 6 times and every time I leave satisfied and with leftovers. Not only the service, but the atmosphere and food is incredible. Each time I went I ordered something different and each time my meal was hot, flavorful and left a smile on my face. I have eaten the Penne A la Vodka, Turkey Club, Calamari, Burger, Chicken Franchais, Shepeards pie, mozz sticks and zucchini fries. The atmosphere here is homie and warm. I will DEFINITELY recommend The Beekman to anyone I know.

THEWORSTSERVICEEXPERIENCE of my life, we didn’t even get as far as a food order. Myself and my partner entered for a drink and dinner. We had a female server(name unknown) with a henna tattoo on her forearm. When asked what drink we wanted my partner wanted a watermelon margarita and she said«come on you’re in an Irish bar», feeling pressured he ordered a pint of Guinness. Being from Ireland myself I said to my partner that it wouldn’t be as good as home. The server then took offence to this and told me basically to shut up because I ordered a vodka and diet coke. On her return to take the food order she refused to take an order from me and walked away with a single entrée order. We thought she was joking but then came back for the menus and wouldn’t take an order from me. She said«oh just because you come in here and are from Ireland, you ordered a fucking vodka and diet coke, which isn’t even diet but I bet you didn’t notice the difference». She then had the audacity to ask my partner what I should have. As I was being treated as a misbehaved child It was decided that we wanted to leave. Then she asked«oh did I hurt your feelings ?». I studied culinary arts and did my dissertation on service cultures! Through my entire 35,000 words of research I’ve never came across such a shocking experience, it was actually abusive. So much for the customer is king. This girl should not be a server!!! STAYAWAY

We came here saturday evening to make a reservation for sunday lunch to watch a football game. Ask waiter about a table next to TV, she said just OK, but didn’t make any note. On sunday we came here and ask about our table, but waiter said«I don’t know, nobody told me about a reservation». So we had to take a table in other room and watch the game on awful old screen with too bad pic. Then i was waiting my coke for 20min, and just mozzarella sticks for 30min. Also this place looks too old. Especially WC.

Cozy fi di pub. Havent been here in a few years, I remember they make a great Saurbraten on Thursdays but I went on a Wednsday so I settled fot the Pot Roast. The Pot Roast itself was tender if a tad dry and the sauce was kinda salty and gloppy. The corn fritters it came with were a disaster, leaden and way too chewy. Mashed potatoes tasted more like instant and string beans and corn were bland. Server was very nice as was the owner which merit it the extra star. I remember the food here being a lot better so this was pretty dissapointing.

Cheers meets Manhattan! «Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and they’re always glad you came.» I like the atmosphere at The Beekman. It’s not flashy, it’s not new, but it’s a classic a pub right down to the regulars sitting at the bar. After admiring the elaborate woodwork of an old English style pub you can’t help but gaze upon a vast selection of beers on tap, a personal favorite for me. They have everything from Sam Adams and Stella Artois to Shock Top and Guinness. They even had local beer from the Newburgh Brewing Company. All the selections were very much appreciated. The restaurant seating is in a room immediately adjacent to the pub. Plenty of seating in both tables and booths with room to accommodate pretty much any size group. My brother and I stopped in for lunch today. The staff who greeted us was friendly and we were seated immediately. The menu had a nice selection of specials that change daily. The selection for our visit on a Friday included Stuffed Shells and a Broiled Seafood Platter. We decided to start off with a quick appetizer before moving onto our main course. We chose the Fried Calamari with Marinara Sauce($ 8.95). The calamari at The Beekman was delicious, and recommended. The marinara sauce had a decent amount of spice and the calamari was cooked well and not overdone. I’ve had way too many bad experiences with rubber calamari! We ordered from the Butcher Block section of the menu, I chose the Choice Cheeseburger Deluxe($ 9.95) and my brother had the Choice Hamburger Deluxe($ 8.95) with Onion Rings(+$ 1). The food was delivered to the table in a reasonable amount of time. The burgers themselves were on the petite side. In our case the buns were actually larger than the burgers. The burgers were very tasty, definitely choice beef and a cut above the rest. They were very juice too. We order them medium rare and they were prepared as we ordered. The waitress was friendly and checked back to see how we like our meals. Overall we had a great experience having lunch at The Beekman. Nice atmosphere, tasty food, friendly people, the recipe for a return visit. Two thumbs up, we’ll be back.

Neat place, good food, but really really slow service. No one really greeted us, so we sat ourselves. Took a while for the server to come up to us, the app took forever, then it took her another 20 minutes to come back to the table… Keep in mind, we are the ONLY table here. Not sure what she was doing, but damn. I had to go find her to give her the card to pay. If she was just attentive it would have been great.

Very straightforward bar. Don’t expect any fancy drinks here ladies because they don’t know how to make any. I requested a Vodka S-lime(Fresh Lime juice, Grey Goose and 7-Up). She used Rose’s Lime Juice. HOW is that sticky sweet sludge ANYTHING like Fresh lime juice? Drink was terrible. Even if she used concentrated lime juice, it would have been better. Stick with beer.
