The potato chips with blue cheese were really great. Other food was very good. Service was excellent. Really 3.5 stars just not quite 4 considering breakfast for 4 was over $ 100.

Came here with my daughter for brunch. The waiter was super nice even though I sat there without ordering for 20 minutes while I made my daughter caroline run to her room because she forgot her Polaroid camera we needed to take pics of our date with. I got eggs Benedict with potatoes and it was okay. It wasn’t super lit but still lit. The egg was too watery sort of or maybe I was just full. Still good though!!! Also got iced coffee and it was my third cup that morning so it sort of gave me anxiety but it’s chill because everything does. It was summer time so they seated us outside and normally I would scream ew mosquitos and heat but it was actually windy and there were no mosquitos which made it so cute and our pics came out amazing.

Came here with a friend after a night at the opera. Around 11:15pm, the front of the house was full, but my friend and I were seated immediately in the back dining room, which seemed to be twice the size of the one you can see from the street. Once at our table, our waiter brought us still and sparking water and some bread. We ordered, and our meal was brought out in maybe ten minutes tops. The food was great. I had the ricotta, truffle cream gnocchi and one of the prime aged sliders. Both were delicious. Despite the small serving of the gnocchi being, well, small, the sauce was so rich I couldn’t even finish the dish. The slider was awesome as well. The onions were perfectly caramelized. Would definitely visit The Smith again for a special occasion or even drinks and small plates at the bar — especially since they’re open till 1:00am on weekends!

I’ve been here once before for lunch and since I was visiting New York I decided to come here for breakfast. While waiting for breakfast your given biscuits which were delicious. I ordered the scrambled eggs, potatoes, smoked bacon with a side of vanilla bean French toast. The eggs were fluffy and flavorful the potatoes were seasoned well and the bacon was just right. You also get a salad with your meal that comes with vinegarette dressing. My breakfast was the best meal I had here in New York and I’ve been here for two days. You won’t be disappointed

This place does a great lobster salad. The fried green beans, fried artichokes, and Mexican corn sides/apps are pretty legit too. Just don’t order a burger here. They put that shit on a rubbery bun that is tougher than the burger it comes with. So you try and bite into the bun, but before your teeth can get through the bun it squishes the burger out the sides. Whatever douchecanoe designed that burger probably squires ketchup all over their French fries. The bun should never be tougher than the burger.

I live close and have eaten here several times. It’s really good food and a great location in the summer, fall and spring for enjoying a meal and people watching. The food is really good but not excellent. The best thing is that it is consistently good. You can always go in for a really good meal. The one thing that can be improved is the waitstaff. They place is always full and the staff seem to be quiet overwhelmed. On multiple visits I’ve had to request things multiple times and even have had to flag folks down to get water, etc. I would definitely bring friends and family here and consider this one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants.

The smith is one of my favorite lunch or brunch places on the city. The grits are my absolute favorite but salads and burgers are great too. They have a lot of seating and I love the atmosphere. It caters to locals, tourists, families, etc and I bring out of towners here. Service is great with lots of staff. Will def keep going back.

I don’t understand why this place isn’t getting better reviews. It’s a consistently solid restaurant and you really can’t go wrong with anything you pick here. There’s always something for everyone. My brunch favorites are the potato waffle benedict, sicilian baked eggs, and BLT&E sandwich. The dinner favorite is gnocchi. Guess what the best part is… they take reservations! Sure you have to wait if you’re a walk in — so don’t be a dummy and plan ahead a few hours, make a reservation, and no wait for you.

We had brunch on a Sunday afternoon. The location was wonderful. We ate outside and watched the crowds. The service was the best we had on our trip to NY. The coffee was delicious and hot. The menu had great choices and very unique! I had the Breakfast Pot Pie, which was delicious. The eggs were perfect and the pot pie was heart warming. It was a unique version of comfort food. My wife had the waffle potatoes, poached eggs with creamed spinach. They were freshly made and the eggs were prepared exactly the way poached eggs should. The waffles were very different, but delicious. The creamed spinach sauce topped them and tied it all together. We will definitely return the next time we are in NYC!

Went for brunch on Christmas Day. Had reservations and were seated almost immediately. The food was great. The serving sizes were good. We all left full and happy. The French toast is probably the best I have had anywhere. The avocado toast was very good but I would have to say the Sicilian baked eggs were better. The donuts are a nice starter to share. The only thing that could be improved was the wait staff. My son’s drink sat empty for awhile and I had to track down the server for another cocktail, which is one of my pet peeves. More drinks=bigger tips ;)

I’m going with the 4 star on this one. We had recently eaten at the midtown east location on 2nd and 53rd. We were very happy with our experience. We were back in the city with friends and wanted them to experience The Smith. It’s a busy place. We were a party of 4– 50 somethings– and had an 8:30pm Open Table reservation. We arrived at 8 and we were prepared to stand at the bar and enjoy a cocktail, but they we’re ready for us and we were seated at a great corner table. Yay! Sometimes I think I expect too much from a server. But do I? I want to feel welcome. I’m a paying guest in your establishment. Do I really expect too much? She was nice, but curt and hurried. The meals are not cheap. We wanted to have a relaxing, enjoyable dinner. The place is loud, but that was ok. There is nothing worse than a borderline, condescending server — remember sweetheart, whatever your aspirations, right now, in this moment, YOU are my WAITRESS, and I am a paying customer, so lose the condescending attitude. I asked about a substitution — that is within your pervue in your job as a waitress– isn’t it? The meal itself was good. I had salmon and subsituted my sides for mashed. I felt like I was asking her to move heaven and earth and immediately wished I had not asked. Everything arrived luke warm at best. Hubby ordered the chicken pot pie and is still raving about it. He is a health nut, runner, weight lifter and he normally doesn’t order this type of dish. One friend ordered the grilled shrimp and the other ordered the flank steak. Both had rave reviews. She had to check the bill, she thought she was served the filet by accident, the steak was so tender and tasty. Waitstaff aside, We will def go back. I’ll give almost anyone 3 strikes.

Here’s what I like: — The open sidewalk(especially during NYC summers) — Good variety of American food on their menu — Location/convenience So, that’s basically what you’re paying for. The quality of the food isn’t terrible, but not stellar either. From a culinary standpoint, you can definitely opt for something much more satisfying in NYC. This isn’t fine dining, but more akin to an upscale diner and«it’ll do» kind of experience. Given how busy it is all the time, service was, as expected, just alright.

Came here for dinner solo. Have been dying to try this place out for ages… Had the Brussels sprout flatbread which was ABSOLUTELYDELICIOUS… It had a little bit of a kick which made it even tastier. Also had the roasted tomato soup with melted cheddar… ABSOLUTELYNOCOMPLAINTSHERE!!! For years every time o walked by this place it’s always been busy… I now understand why… WILLDEFINITELY be back again as there are so many items I’d like to try Also enjoyed a new fall drink called the honey bear which was ABSOLUTELYINCREDIBLE.

Really enjoyed my meal there. Started with the apple and goat cheese salad that had greens and cranberries with a delicious dressing. Then had the chicken pot pie that comes with a cheddar chive biscuit topping and it was very good. it was hardy and tasted great. Plenty of food. The cocktail I had-supposed to be a cosmo was terrible and the replacement was not much better but the waiter switched it out for a glass of wine which I really appreciated. The restaurant is larger than it looks and has outside seating with heaters as well. It is just across form Lincoln Center. I’d certainly go back. It’s a good option in that area.

The Smith is always a good choice for brunch or dinner. The ambiance at the upper west location is more busy and crowded and family-oriented, and also lots of the pre-Lincoln Center crowd. The service here I found to be a bit lacking compared to other Smith locations — slow and not attentive at all. For brunch, my favorite is definitely the potato waffle benedict. Absolutely divine. For dinner, love the veggie flatbread and mac & cheese here. In the not too active Lincoln Center restaurant scene, the Smith is always a solid choice. Just beware of brunch wait times.

I’ve been here upwards of five times now and I’m finally getting around to writing a review. Not only is the location clutch, the the food is pretty damn clutch too(don’t worry this isn’t the start of a rhyming review). Sitting directly across the street from the glorious Lincoln Center, the Smith gets a lot of traffic. Like, a LOT. So it would always behoove you to make a reservation here. For brunch AND dinner — you will pretty much always find this place packed. Even if it turns out you don’t need it, better safe than sorry. When I’ve come here sans reservation, I’ve usually had to wait for at least 20 minutes. What I did not realize upon my first coupe of visits, however, is that the Smith — along with having a massive main dining room — has a decently-sized back room as well. So they do a very good job at accommodating the demand here. What deserves a separate graph here is that the service can sometimes suffer as a result of how expansive and bustling this place is. That’s been my biggest gripe about the Smith — flagging down a server can be quite difficult, and sometimes the easiest requests can take an uncomfortably long time to fulfill. So that’s why knocks it down a star — otherwise, I absolutely love this place. I’ll talk mostly about this past experience I had at the Smith, but before that I’ll mention what I’ve had here in the past: the Salmon(pastrami spiced, roasted fennel, shiitakes, yellow wax beans, pistou), the Brussels sprouts, the Seared Tuna Salad(brunch — seared tuna salad string beans, black olive, cherry tomato, roasted pepper, potato, baby spinach, Dijon). This last visit, I got the Flounder(roasted local vegetables, Jersey tomatoes, pine nut gremolata). I can say with certainty that these dishes have all been either good, great or incredible. I can’t remember the Salmon too well(this was a year and a half ago), but my friend ordered it on Saturday and cleaned her plate — no commentary needed there. Since the Flounder is freshest in my mind, I feel comfortable adamantly recommending it. All of the food here is incredibly flavorful and beautifully prepared, and the Flounder was not exception(I cleaned my plate as well). I’ll also say that while I can’t speak for the pasta dishes, I’ve been very happy with the portion sizes here. Perfectly adequate. Reaching food baby status often doesn’t happen here, because they don’t supersize their dishes unnecessarily. Always seems to be just the right amount of food! This past trip, I ordered a couple of cocktails, which were both solid. My first was a spicy number — the Touch of Evil(rye /aperol /grapefruit /habanero lime syrup). Good, but it didn’t wow me. My second drink, the Blackbird(rye /blackberry /lemon salt /elderberry bitters), was fantastic — would highly recommend. It’s somewhat spirit-forward but not overwhelmingly so. Basically, my personal perfect balance. Other notes from this past experience: –I did not remember that each patron receives their own personal serving of bread — warm and served in some wax paper. The friend that I went with this past trip is lactose intolerant, so they happily delivered some olive oil upon request. –Our waiter had some… issues. I don’t know. I don’t want to be too judgmental but our interactions with him were very uncomfortable. Some excerpts: Us: «We need some more time, can you come back in two minutes?»(we had said before that we needed more time and he had come back in about 30 seconds) Him: *looks at wrist* «Um, I don’t have a watch… so…» –Our cocktails took a lot longer to come than our food. Which is just plain odd. My second one came after we had finished our meals and our plates had been cleared, so I felt a little bit silly drinking it. –Prices are a wee bit high for someone trying to save, but I do honestly think that they match the quality of the food. Plus, if Lincoln Center-goers want a good meal pre/post show, they’ll shell out the cash for a meal here. So the Smith knows its clientele. So: Cocktails are good, food is GREAT, service is inconsistent, place is PACKED(and loud), make a reservation if you know what’s good for you, and enjoy!

This was my first time at the Upper West Side location and it was such a great brunch experience overall! Attentive waiters/waitresses, delicious food and drinks, good ambience… What more could you ask for?! I got there at 9:50am for my 10am reservation and was surprised at how crowded the place already was. The hostess was friendly and observant — she noticed that I had been waiting for my friend to arrive for about 10 minutes and actually offered me a seat to wait(they only seat completed parties). Even though most of the tables were already taken when my friend arrived, the hostess gave us a choice of where to sit rather than just deciding for us, which is always a nice gesture. Our experience only went uphill from there. Our waitress came by frequently to check up on us and refill our water jugs(they give you 2 by default — still and sparkling). We never had to wait long for them to take our orders, and even had a waiter who wasn’t technically«our waiter» come by several times to ask if we wanted more drinks. In addition to the good service, the food definitely met our expectations as well. My friend got the Ranchero Scramble(scrambled eggs with chipotle salsa, black beans, tortillas, cheddar, and avocado) which she really enjoyed. I tried a bit of the chipotle salsa and it was really flavorful and spicy! I’m not sure how I feel about the plating though — it seemed like the tortilla had been moved around on the plate before it actually got to us. Maybe that’s how they intended for it to be, I dunno. As for me, I got the Eggs Benedict which I also enjoyed but don’t quite remember how it tasted because it was completely overshadowed by the amazingness that were those HOMEFRIES it came with. Seriously guys… Everyone who comes here needs to do themselves a favor and get those home fries!!! Overall, this is one of the better restaurants around the Lincoln Center area. Even though their Midtown East location is a lot more convenient for me to get to, I’ll definitely be back here again!

Sat at the bar for a cocktail, followed by a burger and a glass of wine. Nice vibe but the waiter did mess up my order, saying he thought I said ‘baguette ‘not ‘burger’ which is why he brought me bread(the same bread everyone else got when they ordered food…). Blackbird cocktail was a whiskey based one from the strong drink section of the menu but still tasted like sugary ribena. Burger was average, cooked well but didn’t exceed expectations. Found the wine coming in tumblers off putting and just a bit lazy. Overall had a pleasant enough time and it was priced about right but would try other places before coming back here.

We went to the smith last night for my friends birthday. We were a table of 4 and despite being late for our reservation, we were sat right away. I love that they start you off with still and sparkling water right away and were very attentive when it came to refilling. I had the rose rose cocktail, which was great. It was very well balanced. We started with the potato chip with hot blue cheese and fried calamari. The potato chips were amazing, I would highly recommend! The calamari was okay, it is served«Brooklyn style» which means the red sauce is served on top. It was a bit chewy and the sauce on top caused it to be more soggy then crispy. For entrees we ordered the flounder, pork chop and the lobster roll. I personally had the flounder and really enjoyed it. The vegetables were really good and complementary to the dish. We ended our meal with s’mores in a jar. The concept was great and the flavor was good, but it was definitely hard to eat.
