Got a facial at the Chopra Center & Spa on my last visit to NY. Overall: — Experience: The environment was calming. It was nice to be able to sit, drink tea, and relax in the lounge. The robes were comfortable and amenities decent(e.g., rainfall shower, steam room). I was very happy with the overall experience. — Results: One of the best facials that I’ve ever had. My skin had an incredible, healthy glow after the facial. — Recommendation: Highly recommended. The esthetician was helpful, skilled, and knowledgeable. Extractions were painless. Used appropriate and effective products for my skin type. Wish I lived in NY so I could schedule another appointment!

I’m a professional in the bodywork arena and I’m picky and not-so polite about it. I have had so many bad massage experiences that I have to be almost desperate before I try again. I was desperate yesterday. I decided to dig deep into my plastic and splurge on the Chopra Center. I asked for the 50 minute Vishesh massage and 30 minute Agni herbal wrap. Others have already accurately described the sumptuousness of this place, so I’ll mention some practical items: They have you fill out a very simple form for a quick health evaluation. This is good. This means they are serious about YOU the client. It also helps because if you are a return customer, it doesn’t matter who your therapist is or if the one you had has forgotten you — they can just look you up. I don’t know about you, but I’m not a fan of repeating my requests and special needs every time I go in. I want it to be like Cheers, where everybody knows my name, except here, they know my body. There is absolutely no question about the sanitation in this place. The massage therapists are real therapists. They are licensed by New York State and they are trained by the Chopra center in modernized(read: far more comfortable) versions of Ayurveda-based massage. Real healing can take place here — and real healing did take place for me. My therapist said that other clients have described her hands as being able to liquefy and become a part of them. Oh yea. Her clients do not lie. When you are done, they won’t grab your cash and push you out the door like other places I have experienced. They welcome you to stay and relax, meditate, read, drink tea and water for as long as you like. It was wonderful to have some time snuggled into soft cubby holes to allow the treatment to fully integrate and to allow myself to fully prepare for the world again. My only fear of going back? I can’t imagine anything beating or matching my first experience here. Not only that, but it’s the first spa where I truly felt like a person, not a paycheck.

If you work or live in Midtown, go here instead of that crappy, cheap massage place on the corner. You will thank me. It isn’t the greatest spa, but the atmosphere is truly tranquil and the massage is worth it.

I sort of melt and relax just thinking about this place. I went for the Odyssey Ayurvedic Massage Treatment. I relaxed in the beautiful tea room in my robe filling out my personal info before my massage therapist came to meet me. The treatment itself was bliss. I used the steam-room afterwards, enjoyed the rainfall shower, got dressed and then had an amazing week thanks to that. The staff was the warmest I had ever encountered at a spa. And because it’s in a basement, there’s no outside city noise. I highly recommend it.

WoW! I came here on Monday night, the beginning of spa week, and I must’ve done something right in a previous life to deserve the luck I had in randomly picking this place for a massage. Not only that, but I got the last and only appointment for the entire week due to a cancellation. Words cannot possibly due justice to the whole mind-body altering experience I had here. From the luxurious full-length robes, the dark wood panelled«lockers» with custom electronic keypads, the«tea lounge» that served as the transition room pre and post massage with beautiful satin pillows and rose-petaled water, to the steam room and walk-in shower with the rainfall-like shower head installed in the ceiling, this was a true spa experience. I was especially amazed that as someone who never feels at ease in a salon or spa, I instantly began to de-stress and feel tranquil the minute I walked down the stairs to this oasis just north of Times Square. Having worked my usual 12 – 13 hours each day after this amazing start to the week, the memory of this experience continues to have an immediate calming effect that has lasted me the whole week. At $ 50 for a $ 130 massage and truly unpretentious spa experience, I wish I could give this place ten stars. I may even have to splurge and go back before the next spa week for another treat! Added bonus: clients are given cards for 2 free yoga and/or meditation sessions.
