The food here is delicious and the portions are very large for the price. You can also order by weight if you prefer, which is usually a good deal. Everyone here is very friendly, and service is fast. This is one of the best places to grab lunch in the area.

My coworkers and I order from them pretty frequently. Most of us almost always go for the oxtail. For me, the portions are ok but I’ve heard from others that they’re hungry pretty quickly afterwards. I would trust most of them as I can stay full for longer than most. They have this amazing pico de gallo sauce but it’s annoying that their real menu with all of the sides are not on the Unilocal delivery menu so I have to order a sandwich that I THINK would be the equivalent price. I’ve enjoyed almost everything from rice, maduros, mac n cheese, etc. Only one time the mac and cheese came pretty watery… But still I’m sure we’ll continue to order from here. :)

Ordered from Tio Pio on Wednesday for myself and my wife. We both had half a chicken each, one dish with salad, and the other with rice, beans and plantain. Both of us had severe diarrhea later that evening and continued the following day. I think that the chicken was spoiled or contaminated since that was the only thing both of us had eaten that day. Be careful with this establishment.

Large portions for 10 $ or less I usually get the half chicken and two sides with extra tio pio sauce It cost 50 Cents extra for more sauce but it’s so worth it The staff is very friendly and helpful. They give big portions and are very fast.

This place is ok. A bit overpriced(.50 for tomato?) I ordered a steak sandwich, which half of it was fat. I had them add mayo on it so it actually gave it flavor. $ 9.50 in total for bread, steak, tomato, lettuce and avocado. Grr, me thinks there won’t be a next time. Next time I won’t be so lazy and I will walk to Sophie’s.

Had pernil with rice, beans and maduros. Tasted like Tia made it! Only drawback was I felt like I got played on the maduros. It’s a «side» on the platter and I only got 3 small pieces. I will definitely order again though.

When I feel like a splurge($ 15 delivery min) this is my go to. SOooooo Goooood. First of all, they have the best chocolate cake in midtown, that I’ve had so far. Their Chicken Francais is off the chain, as someone else so eloquently put it. Their mac-n-cheese is dangerously inhale-able and I do love their ripe plantains. The salmon I had was done to Per Fec Tion and flavored simply and elegantly — Inhaled it. The vegetables were underdone for my taste, but that is definitely preferable to the alternative. Honestly — BEST chocolate cake — moist and the frosting is perfection

Really, the only place close to my office that provides all the following: — friendly and efficient service — healthy and balanced meal, according to my nutritionist(¼ roasted chicken with rice, beans, and greens) — large portions — affordable(the above meal costs $ 9.25) — Tasty — TIOPIOSAUCE! I go here, pretty much every other day. What else could you ask for?

3.75 stars. If you’ve been to the extremely popular Pio Pio you pretty much know the deal with Tio Pio. Similar food, similar set up. I ordered the lunch special. It’s $ 9.80 after tax and you get a half a chicken and two sides. It really is a lot of food and a good deal for the area. The food was pretty good. Flavor wise the chicken is as good as Pio Pio but texture wise Pio Pio has them beat. The the exterior of the chicken here isn’t browned like the chicken at Pio Pio and it’s missing that nice crispy texture you get at Pio Pio. It was still tasty but it seems they use a different cooking method. For sides I got the penne a la Vodka and the collard greens. I didn’t expect to see collard greens at a Spanish spot but these greens were not bad! They had flavor and needed no additional seasoning. I also enjoyed the penne a la vodka. Now that I work 2 blocks from this place I will probably return one or twice a month. The food is solid and the lunch special is competitive with anything in the area. Their getting slightly under 4 stars(3.75) because I think the food at Pio Pio is better. I will be back here to try their shrimp/fish/beef offerings and to update the review.

I went here because it was right next to penn Positives: service is quick, big portions, and green sauce is on point. Negatives: food was low in flavor, and chicken was on the drier side Overall it was okay but I would stop there if I’m in the area and I want something more than pizza or fast food and quick sit-down. (FYI — its byob)

Chicken and rice were good, but salad portion was really small. They delivered the wrong flavor of Snapple: I wrote down raspberry and said that if they didn’t have it, they could send lemon, but they sent peach, which is the only flavor I don’t like.

Good stuff here, and it is a lot of food for just $ 8.95. The green sauce is absolutely a must. It is sooo good. They give you one container of it, but if you want more it is .50 extra, totally worth it.

I expected the place to be a hole in a wall but it was not. It’s more of a small deli place. The presentation of food was great, and the staff helped me with the menu options. Sadly, the food was just.okay. The chicken was really salty, and I’m not talking about dash of salt. To my surprise the verde sauce was not the taste I expected. It was spicy, bland and watery. This is one of the places you go to when after a hungover or starving in work, other than that I would not advise my «Latin Foodies» to go there.

Came here on a whim. Very good food. Unfortunately the chicken is slightly cold but the taste makes up for that inconvenient aspect. Tostones are incredible, green hot sauce is great too, nothing like the sauce you’d find at Sophie’s but it really isn’t bad. Maybe slightly hotter if anything. I got the grilled chicken salad, I’m not a big salad fan, but there was an equal ratio of chicken to salad which is a definite plus. Coming back without a doubt.

Review for delivery. Their delivery service is very fast and the food is pretty good, but it’s no Sophie’s. I ordered the Pernil, potato salad and plantanos lunch combo. The pernil was a little salty and delivered cold. The plantanos were horrible. It tasted like they were friend in chalk. But the potato salad was fresh and really flavorful. Their green sauce was good but again, not Sophie’s quality. I’d but them in 3rd behind Sophie’s and Pio Pio.

Made the mistake of ordering from Tio Pio one weekday night when I was too lazy to cook dinner. The chicken entrée arrived cold and was sloppily prepared. The cover wasn’t even properly placed on top of the aluminum container, leaving my food exposed to all the elements before it arrived at my door. Most importantly, the green sauce was watery and did not have that spicy kick that other green sauces have(i.e., Sophie’s, Pio Pio). Will definitely not order from Tio Pio again. I’d rather pay a delivery fee for Pio Pio’s delicious matador combo any day.

A great lunch stop, especially after 2pm, which is when I went. I decided to come here on a whim, trying to look for a non-franchise fast food establishment in the city and somewhat off the beaten tourist paths to avoid the crowds. Grabbed the quarter chicken with yellow rice and collard greens. ! didnt go for the mac and cheese even though I normally would have. You can see what you order, so just pick and choose what looks good to you. It varies because of your timing, when the lunch traffic peaks and such. I absolutely love rotisserie chicken, and peruvians do it well. It’s moist, juicy and falls off the bone. You MUST try the hot sauce. It’s green and offered upon cashing out. $ 9 for a meal and a drink. Can you go wrong, especially being in the city? I think not. Try it, I think you’ll enjoy it too.

When I saw the menu for Tio Pio, I thought it might have been related to the excellent Peruvian chicken place Pio Pio. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Tio Pio does serve similar chicken but it is more like a lunch deli. The chicken was okay but I have definitely had much better Peruvian chicken. It is a little dry here and actually more expensive than nicer places I have been to: $ 7.50 before tax for a quarter chicken with rice, beans, and two small pieces of plantains. The menu said $ 6.50 but I was charged a dollar more for some reason. The green sauce from this place is very good — spicier than others.
