Great Desert place. The deserts were exceptional and Unique. Two drawbacks which prevented a five-star rating: 1– seating. we were seated at what seemed like a picnic table and would have had to share with others if it was more crowded. 2– Cash only. the server said that they normally take card, but they were having trouble to the connection. My daughter said that this has happened in the past. Overall great deserts, just make sure to stop by an ATM first.

I have known the Brooklyn location existed for awhile. Passed by it twice intending to make a special trip back to BK just to try it out and never did. I was delighted to discover from a new friend who is Latina & Vegan that they were also in The City! Yay! She gave great reviews & so I went on a Wednesday with Hubby. We enjoyed it thoroughly! I proceeded to return 3 more times the following week Wed, Thursday & Friday! No shame in my game, it really is that great! The vibes are very high in the earthy minimalist space, it smells good and has great chi. There is always good music playing & sometimes you’ll even want to dance! The waitstaff is very sweet and attentive. One waiter even told me «this is your Living Room, I just serve here». Yesssss! The food is made fresh so it may take a few minutes to come out but, it’s well worth the wait ! Have a juice or something and enjoy the sights, sounds and the lovely mild fragrance of the food being prepared. Everything is organic, fresh, well seasoned and oh so delicious. On the 1st visit my Husband had the Plato Casado” w/Carne Molida. I had a few bites and it was very good. Though he is a big meat eater, he loved it! I We shared the Avocado Fries with spicy mayo. They were panko breaded & deep fried! Yummm! I had an appetizer that I think was called an Empanada Sampler. It came with no less than 8 nice sized baked Empanadas and 3 or 4 dips and sauces! Each one had a different mix of goodness inside! I think I tried all of the Empanadas they offer in that sampler and yummm, my mouth is watering recalling their goodness! It was a lot though and truly a fight to finish all of it. Thank God Hubby was up for the challenge. At the waiter’s recommendation, I tried the Quesadilla Supreme with Spinach & Portobello Mushrooms & I don’t usually talk like this but, Yo!!! That ish is my jammy jam right there!!! That 1st day I could only make it though 1& ½ because I was full of Empanadas, but I took the rest home and it plays very well left over and even cold! We took some of their homemade VSpot Salsa home and it is a beautiful thing, on everything! Twice more I ordered the Quesadilla Supreme, on Wed with girlfriends and & on Thursday ordered it after my meal, to take home & eat the next day! It comes with Guacamole on the top, and I like to add their VSpot salsa to it, and its a full on mouth party!!! I had to force myself to try other things so on Thursday I had the Tacos. Soft shelled and filled with black beans and mushrooms and other goodies, they were filled with flavor. However, I definitely heard the Quesadillas Supremes singing in my head«nanananananana cant touch this!.» Friday morning I had my leftovers and was happy. Then later that day got called to meet up with one of my Besties for dinner. Guess where I suggested? LOL! I had the Summer Rolls and the Arepas Con Todos while my Bestie enjoyed the Quesdallias Supreme with a side of Sauteed Kale & Spinach with Garlic Sauce(which I have had twice and it is a blast!). The Summer rolls were light and nice with the Peanut Sauce Dip. I enjoyed them a lot. The Arepas Con Todos is very filling & will now be in my rotation for sure. That thick corn arepa bread with carne molida, avocado and vegan cheese and more! Wooo hooo, party over here! The only thing that I have tried that I felt was lacking in much flavor was their lentil soup with avocado. It made me think of food you eat when you are not feeling well. Healthy, and nutritious but a bit bland. Still, I can see ordering it and adding the VSPot Salsa to jazz it up a bit. Nothing here is bad food. It’s all good! Actually, in the words of Tony, The Tiger… «Its Grrrrrreat!!!» Y’all come now, ya hear? Wait!!! — — -I forgot to mention desserts & that they make on the premises! They are equipped with their own pastry chef who rocks!!! I have had their Hemp icecreams: Mint Chocolate Chip was OK, I did not taste the mint element. I liked pairing their Chocolate Ice cream(which is very chocolatey and not very sweet) with the sweeter Raspberry Cupcake Yummmm City! I also enjoy the Mexican Spiced Cookie, delish! My lucky friends all chose the Lemon Vanilla Raw Cheesecake made with cashews, which I may be allergic to so I avoided. They each expressed pure love and sheer delight for that cheesecake. My Bestie even said now she knows where to get an Orgasm as a single woman! LMAO! On the whole this place is so great and the food and staff so wonderful I will be hosting an event here later this month. Can’t wait!

Not one of the biggest attractions on St. Marks but definitely worth a shout-out. Friend and I split an order of avocado fries. The sauce was too citrusy and the fries was stiff and bland. Lesson learned: the east coast has pretty crappy avocados(no fault of the establishment). Moving on, I got the chipotle chicken wrap. One thing that I really don’t like about vegan restaurants is their attempt to recreate meat dishes to make it palatable to carnivores. I understand the purpose, but usually it tastes pretty off. But nahhhh, this wrap was great; the flavors were all there, and the chipotle sauce was amazing. Seitan is definitely a star at imitating meat texture and absorbing flavors, and this place definitely knows how to make it well. I will be revisiting!

Wow. Blown away. Arepa Con todo was amazing. Fresh, thick, sense, although I wanted more! The burritos were fantastic. Philly Cheesesteak and VSpot burrito. Big! Filling. Don’t forget the avocado fries. Insane. Finished it off with a sinful choco peanut butter cupcake. I can not wait to go back. Staff was super friendly. Service was a bit spotty but it was packed and they looked short staffed. I am making eveyone I know share a meal with me there.

I came here a couple of months ago with my partner. They apparently, had a vegan market in the back of the restaurant set up, however we were too late. :-( The back dinning area was closed off because the vegan market was being disassembled, so there was limited seating in the front, like maybe 10 tables that were set up like a café. The seats were a bit uncomfortable, but whatever. The drink selection wasn’t too bad; some organic wines and beers. I’m a huge fan of Kombucha tea and they actually had a Kombucha tea that had alcohol in it(Kombrewcha, which is only two and a half percent but hey, booze is booze amirite), which was pretty awesome! For dinner, I had a veganized version of Bandeja Paisa, which came with seitan, tofu, avocado and delicious rice and beans! The setain was so tasty! I would recommend this dish for anyone who is non vegan. My parter got the lasagna, but didn’t like it and only took a couple bites out of it. The manager was so nice and took it off the bill for us. I insisted to pay for it, but she said it would be fair for us to pay for a dish we didn’t like. This was super sweet of her! All in all, I thought VSpot was an excellent restaurant and hopefully next time I come back the rear dining area will be open.

I really like this place! I decided to try get it last week when I was in the area. I have heard many things on various social networks about this place and decided to give it a shot. Being a vegetarian, the menu is definitely overwhelming because literally everything looks so good and I can eat everything on the menu for once. We decided to go with the nachos and the avocado fries and a green smoothie drink. The nachos were awesome. I would highly recommend them. I initially thought that I would miss the cheese but the vegan cheese is just as good and goes perfectly well with all the other ingredients. The homemade«sour cream» also tastes like the real thing if not even better. We thoroughly enjoyed every bit to the last chip. We also got the avocado fries due to the high ratings on them. It comes with five or six small fries with a side of their version of chipotle mayo. The fries are also great. It literally is exactly what it sounds like avocado slices with breadcrumbs, deep-fried. I would def recommend this place and I would definitely suggest ordering the items that I got to eat because they were so great. I can’t wait to go back and try everything else on the menu!

I became a vegan two months ago and when my non vegan friends invited me to this Latino Organic Vegan Spot. I was super excited to go. We were seated right away and immediately asked for the 2 for $ 5 empanadas. The choices were the Philly, the Colombian and the Red Beans. They were all great and tasty but I recommended the Colombian. It was delish! I totally forgot that they had a drink menu so I got the Organic Sangria! This was my first having wine since I became a vegan. It was light and good! The menu had soo much to order from Venezuelan Arepas to Burrito wraps. I decided to try their kale tostadas and their portobello tacos. I made great choices because I loved it. My home girl got the guacamole with chips and Carne Molina tostada. She said the carne Molina was mad fafafel out lol. I had to laugh. For desert, I had the choco peanut cupcake. Mmm please try it in my honor :-). The homie got the carrot cake was very rich and good. We also order the hemp ice cream and we didn’t not like it. The waitress was sweet enough to void that transaction from our bill. The waitress was sweet and a naturalist vegan like me. FYI tips and recommendations 1. Public Transportation. You can take the n/r to 8 street. The a/c/f to west 4 and walk to the east side. Also you can take the 6 train to Astor place. 2. The bathrooms are downstairs. The sinks are on the outside. 3. Fyi. Most wine are not vegan friendly. They use fish products to preserve the wine. Just in case you was curious. 4. They gave a glass bottle full of water. its the simple things that count. 5. The tables are too close to one another. That’s the only complain I have. 6. Another FYI… a naturalist vegan is when you try to eat foods that are not processed. Like I say I try, its hard to do in the states. Thats why I can’t review about the burgers and faux meat. 7. Enjoy!

I was there for dinner the other day. I can honestly say that the food was simply average or slightly above average for vegan food. It was certainly not great when compared to non-vegan food. I came with a group and we ordered: lasagna(barely acceptable), bandeja paisa(barely edible to me), side kale caesar salad(good), the V spot burrito(barely acceptable), and a side of french fries(good). For dessert we ordered the raw cheesecake(fine, but nothing remarkable). I think the problem was that, for me, I don’t like the taste of fake meats and fake cheeses, and that’s what I tasted at the establishment. I like going to a vegan restaurant and enjoying the food as much as if it were non-vegan(Exhibit A for that: By Chloe). I cannot say that I felt that way about this food. I don’t plan on going back. As an aside, the wait staff/service was good. I am giving this three stars for the wait staff. Basically, I give the place 2 stars for food and 4 stars for service, so it gets 3 stars overall.

Tried V Spot for the first time yesterday. I ordered the V Spot burrito, which is quite flavorful. However, I am left in disbelief today after eating the other half of the burrito for lunch because I found a medium sized piece of PLASTIC in my food. I posted a picture of it. V Spot, you left me disappointed and questioning whether I will ever eat there again. This was a dangerous mistake in the kitchen. Thankfully, it was not glass and that it was large enough that I did not swallow it. Please check the kitchen, and make certain everyone is following safe, healthy and hygienic practices.

I had no plans on where to eat, but my stomach was rumbling after yoga, so I stepped inside. The sign outside said it was a vegan, latin, kosher restaurant and I just wanted to see how they would pull it off. Inside it was pretty spacious with lots of space between the tables, the interior was decorated nicely there were potted plants on a bookshelf along the wall. There was also a full bar. I had the maduros with curry dipping sauce and the Colombian empanadas, along with a glass of organic red wine. The maduros seemed baked and were not the greasy usual maduros you would get at your average restaurant, the curry dipping sauce was an odd but surprisingly good combination. The Colombian empanadas were full of flavor, I could not believe it was vegan, it hit all the right notes. I’ll be back to try some more of their tasty dishes.

This place was so awesome! I’m new to the vegan community and new to eating vegan food in general and I love it so so much! The service was amazing and the food was even better. I had avocado fries which ROCKED and a supreme quesadilla ITWASGREAT! I would never believe it wasn’t really cheese. The price was okay all together for both things was 16 but however I was so so content with the meal. I was full and not feeling sluggish. It’s a place that you can take people who aren’t vegans the food is just amazing all around.

The food I tried here was delicious and decently priced for the area. I tried the Avocado fries, which were delicious and the orange sauce that comes with them is off the hook. I asked for more sauce just to dip other things in it. I tried an empanada which as good as well and tried their Tortilla salad with meat on the side. Really good and flavorful I loved it. Their Chipotle Burrito also hits the spot! I recommend this to people who enjoy flavorful food. Can’t believe it’s vegan and not real meat! Nice staff as well. Check out my video review of this place

Ummm so not a vegetarian, however, really do enjoy a good vegetarian meal when I can find it and V spot is exactly that. Love love the BK outpost of this restaurant so was really excited to learn that they opened a Manhattan branch! The space here is brightly lot with a clean young modern feel. Staff is really nice and warm as well. My fave things to order here are the milkshakes, the avocado fries, an empanadas sampler and the bandeja paisa. Love the Colombian flavor inspirations in each dish. Not usually a fan of the fake meat used in vegetarian cuisine but the«chorizo» is crazy delicious and addicting! The avocado fries are extra crispy on the outside and dense and creamy on the inside. The empanadas were full of flavor and you disburse miss the fact that they were meatless. Definitely a must try place!

***Vegan friendly, great service, decently priced*** If you’re a vegetarian/vegan, this is a place for you! They serve a variety of latin american cuisines and it’s definitely filling. The service is great too! The only reason I rated it three stars is because I think flavor wise, it could have used more flavor in certain dishes. Do try the curried kale and chickpeas.

Thank you, food gods, for bringing me delightful vegan food outside of Indian and Thai. Quickly learned tip: ask the server about any special empanadas not on the menu. ORDERTHEMALL. The chipotle wrap is ridiculous, rice and beans cooked to perfection, empanadas I would sell my left arm for… A house made Verde sauce that if it were possible, I would sell my own mother for. Eat. Colombian meets Vegan? This place is amazing! Being Colombian I am usually suspect when restaurants try and get my food right… but… shhhhhh … I’ll tell you a secret, this place is run by 3 Colombian brothers who have taken traditional dishes and not only added some health conscious ingredients to it but made it Vegan friendly. This coming from a culture that boasts FRIEDEVERYTHING. Here’s what to have: Bandeja Paisa* Traditional colombian variety plate served w/grilled house-made seitan(in place of meat), organic tofu, vegan carne molida(tasty), brown rice & peas, black beans, avocado slices, sweet plantains & arepa con queso(thick corn patty w/vegan cheese) Platano Maduro Sweet & soft plantains w/a side of coconut curry sauce(always a favorite) Colombian Empanadas Packed w/potato, carrot, onion, corn, cilantro, & latin seasoned seitan; served w/fresh guacamole(yummy) Avocado fries(NEED I SAYMORE?) You must come here! 2 Locations: –St Marks place in Manhattan –Brooklyn

My favorite dish here so far is the Bandeja Paisa. The dish is so flavorful and varying in textures. It’s like a vegan food amusement park for your mouth. I originally was going to order an empanada, arepa, avocado fries and plantano maduro, but the total of these items would have been about $ 20, so I splurged for my old Brooklyn vspot favorite the Bandeja Paisa -$ 22. You can substitute the seitan for a salad to keep it gluten free. I opted for the seitan for memories sake. The sweet plantain is cooked just right where it is warm and soft but not drenched in oil(which is good(lol the oil), but not so good for you corazon). The arepa is tasty and I don’t hate the daiya cheese on it, but daiya is not my favorite. Still though I enjoyed it. Bandeja paisa Seitan, Organic Tofu, v. Carne Molida, Brown Rice + Peas, Avocado, sweet plantains Arepa w. cheese daiya Is the way to go. Also they offer a 10% discount for getting your Yoga on upstairs at Yoga to the People. Namaste y’all

I have been meaning to try more vegan places in the Bay Area, but what other better place to try to start vegan-ism than New York on a Friday night?! Unfortunately, i am far from being a vegan, but I think having some considerations if the food is this tasty! FOOD: Empanadas, tostadas, and … lasagna? The lasagna is a bit out of place, but still all vegan. I was surprised how far vegan food has come in the United States and this tasted pretty good. My favorite dish was the empanadas, which honestly, I couldn’t even tell if it was vegan if it was placed in front of me. Delicious. The tostada itself was pretty good too, although I am sucker of the traditional Mexican tostada with cheese and mayo. The vegan version does a good job and making it much healthier than its traditional version, which is always a plus. The lasagna was where I found to be a bit of a stark difference. Without egg, the pasta is challenging, but I must say that the filling itself was mighty delicious. We also got the lemon cheesecake. Now that, THAT, I can eat forever. I wish I could have gotten a whole cake instead of a slice because I could not tell the difference and was of the right consistency. When asking about the cake, we were told it is also raw. Raw?! I mean, talk about the healthiest sounded vegan cheesecake. SERVICE: Great! The gentleman serving us was great and very pleasant. I wish service like this was common in New York, so V Spot has got some quality people working there. Overall, V Spot is a great introduction to vegan food for someone like me who is fairly novice at eating vegan. They do a great job here and would highly recommend for somebody to eat!

V = VERYBADSERVICE. Service: — — — Only 3 small tables were seated when we ordered our food. After we ordered our food, it took 30 mins for it to come out. I think Matt Damon’s character in «The Martian» grew potatoes on Mars faster. Given the delay, I asked how long it would take to get the dessert I wanted and was told«about 5 minutes.» It came 20 minutes later and it was not even what I had ordered. When I first ordered the dessert, I had mentioned we were trying to make a movie so that’s why I was asking how long it would take. That would have been the appropriate time for the server to warn us that their printer was out of order so it would take 15 minutes to settle the check. Both servers were not in the dining area or anywhere to be found for about 80−90% of the time we were there. Next time I guess I’ll email the restaurant when I need salt or an extra napkin. Food: — — - We had the mixed green salad, Kale Caesar salad, Jamaican Jerk flavored burrito, sweet plantains and brownie. The salad was dressed only in oil, so much oil that the burrito next to it on the same plate was soaked in it. The oil they used wasn’t flavorful enough by itself and I had to wipe down the burrito with my napkin before eating it so the oil would not drip all over my shirt.(Tried to ask for another napkin but no servers in sight — see«Service» above.) The Kale Caesar salad was meh and the dressing on this one also didn’t taste like anything. The burrito tasted way more like Indian style spicy than Jamaican Jerk. Last but not least, this place calls itself«Latin» but used green/unripened plantains instead of yellow/ripe for the sweet plantains, so those tasted pretty bad. Never got to taste the brownie because I ordered it with the coffee iced cream scoop but they brought it out with ginger iced cream instead, so we decided(at about 90 minutes in by that point) that we did not have another 20 minutes to spare for them to fix it(again, see«Service» above.) In their defense(kind of): — — — — — — — — — - I have eaten at a lot of vegan restaurants. Across the board, almost every single one of them has TERRIBLE service — so bad, that if they were not vegan, I doubt they could stay in business. Since there are so few, however, demand exceeds supply so they get away with it because people have such few choices when it comes to eating establishments that only serve vegan food. Or maybe it’s just the hipster apathy because the only one I know with good service is Candle 79. Then again, at their prices, service better be good. So, sure, you will see all these vegan places rated 4⁄5 stars on Unilocal, but sadly it’s grading on a curve by those just so thrilled to be eating at a vegan place that nothing else matters. Good for you folks but just know you’re ruining it for the rest of us lol… On the off chance anyone gives a crap: — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — I have decided that from now on when I want vegan food, I will go to restaurants that are not exclusively vegan but happen to have vegan options on their menus. From the subtle placing of the empty water glasses on my table together with the water bottle so I have to pour it myself(I didn’t know I worked here — where’s my staff discount?) to the less subtle Amber Alert you have to issue to find a server, I’m done supporting these«businesses.» When I’m in the mood for bad service, I’ll stay home and cook.

I stumbled upon this place before yoga class. Thinking I should be hip, trendy, and healthy, I thought I should try this little vegan spot on my own. The place was cool with an urban vibe. I loved all of the vegan smoothie choices, which is something i’ll definitely have to try. I didn’t want to be too full for yoga, so I decided to order two vegan tostadas on the appetizer menu.(Mostly because the Unilocal pictures made it looked so good) I must say, I was a little disappointed at first at how small the two dishes were. But then I had to remind myself that I did just order an appetizer. Even so, I was surprised by how filling it was, and not to mention, how delicious a vegan tostada can be!

After passing this place many times awaiting it’s opening, I finally had the chance to eat here! I work in the area so lunch is really what I’m coming in for. The space is casual, staff is friendly, and the spinach burrito was delicious! It was really authentic flavors and the side salad was a nice addition. Menu items are clearly marked GF so that was nice to not have to ask extra questions. My only issue is I wish there were lunch specials. Their menu ranges $ 12 – 16 and the portion is substantial so I get it. But I’d be happier with options in the $ 7 – 10 range for 2⁄3 the amount. Nonetheless I’ll definitely be coming back!

I’ve only been to the V Spot when I’ve gone to the annual«S’More Protection for the Oceans» bash that Sea Shepherd throws at their Brooklyn location – but their empanadas are fortunately all over the city. When I was there the other night, I only had two apps: an aforementioned empanada and their amazing avocado fries.(If you get nothing else, get them!) The waiter who served me also said this place has a pastry chef. This place is only a few blocks away from me, and M8 is literally a shuttle bus over. I first tried their delicious food at the Vegan Food Festival, then used to get takeaway every time I was near Barclays. SO happy they opened a location in the city! I know… BK is the city, but you know what I mean jellybean. They have the same items, including their famous empanadas which come w the homemade salsa(note you can buy the salsa by the bottle)! In an area that has no shortage of cheap eats, it’s a calm, clean oasis amidst the hecticness of St Marks and a refreshing chillax change of pace from the expensive«upscale» vegan places popping up everywhere. On a nice day, the doors open wide and let a nice breeze in and they have a beautiful huge space in the back for private events. Gracias V Spot!
