Ordered a very expensive brownie but it just wasn’t as good or worth the price as other vegan brownies I’ve had. Maybe it was the peanut butter filling that was a bit chalky. Otherwise, other things I’ve had there were better.

One of the best corn muffins I’ve had — perfectly firm on the outside, while not over-browned, and light and moist on the inside.

Asked if I get I’ve thing what should it be, was told the brownie. The middle was pretty good, though the edges were hard and dry. But I’ve had better vegan brownies, amazing ones, so I expect a lot from a bakery. They don’t have savory options any more.

I didn’t actually go to Vegan Divas. I had their doughnuts at DF Mavens(Vegan Ice cream shop). It looked questionable… but I went for it anyways since I was craving sweets. This was just not a doughnut. It was crumbly and a bit dry. :[ I give that a 2. This seemed like the type of doughnut a non-vegan would make for a vegan thinking that they don’t know what a real doughnut tastes like. Well I do. and this isn’t it. If you want a real vegan doughnut go to Dunwell Doughnuts in Williamsburg. The cupcake I had was actually okay. I give that a 4.

I dream of Vegan Divas cupcakes and donuts. Hands down THEBEST cupcakes I have ever tasted. They are light and not too overly sweet. I feel like I’m eating a piece of heaven. My mother doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth, but I took here anyway because I knew she would love them… And yep I was right! Every time she visits we have to make a stop at Vegan Diva.

Walking by this spot and decided to give it a shot. I was recommended their sugar donut so that’s what I got. Terrible donut and terribly weak coffee. It’s the color of coffee. The scent of coffee. The taste of something weak and inferior. It shouldn’t be called coffee. I’m giving this place two stars to be kind. The idea of this place is great. Staff is friendly.

I think this place is pretty cute, has a decent selection and is reasonably priced. I tried the Banana Chocolate Muffin today which is also gluten-free in addition to being vegan. Honestly, it was OK. The texture was good and I like the sweetness, but honestly I thought the chocolate was a little overpowering. I LOVE me some chocolate so that’s saying something. I thought it could have used a little more banana flavor. It’s a little out of the way for me so I can’t say if I’d ever go back on purpose but I’d definitely try something else if I’m ever in the area.

I’m not a vegan, but have stopped into Vegan Divas a handful of times for their cupcakes, which are pretty awesome. The staff members have always been very nice and helpful, and the shop is clean and not cluttered despite its small size. Definitely worth checking out, even if you’re not a vegan.

After reading the reviews as mixed we came in to try the gluten free baked good for ourselves. The server was really nice and kind! The gluten free brownie is amazing! I also tried the cinnamon mini doughnut-I really liked it so much! I usually go all the way to Baby Cakes-but this place is much closer to the hotel I stay in when in NY-I will be back!!! Love it!

I came here because I happened to be in the neighborhood for an event and will eventually need to find a vegan baker for my wedding. The staff member was helpful with letting me know what price range their cakes fell, what kind of cakes they had to offer, and how far in advance they recommend ordering a wedding cake. but when I tried asking her if they did vegan buttercream she seemed to think I was talking about vegan cream cheese frosting and didn’t seem to know what buttercream even was. which was kind of concerning. I bought a piece of chocolate cake for $ 6 and a coconut doughnut for $ 3 to try. The cake was alright, but not amazing, and the pricing was in line with a normal bakery(like Martha’s, or just about any bakery in the same neighborhood). There were two kinds of frosting on it. I really only liked the thicker one that had the consistency of buttercream, but didn’t quite have the taste, the other one was gooey and too sweet for me(despite being dark chocolate). The doughnut was kind of expensive and smaller than a normal doughnut, but it was amazing. It was fluffy and moist and delicious. However, it reminded me a bit more of cake than of a really good dense homemade doughnut. I’d be happier if they had normal bakery cookies, and more options in general.

They make vegan cookies and cakes. I enjoy most of their desserts. I am very conscious of what I am eating for my health. Those vegan desserts are probably not as tasty as non vegan ones which contain a lots of unhealthy ingredients for the ones who are used to sugar and cream. However, their desserts taste pretty good to me considering the fact they are eliminating the unhealthy ingredients. I think it is fair not to expect the non vegan taste with vegan desserts. The items that I enjoyed were carrot cake, chocolate chip muffin and macaroons. I am glad I can enjoy the vegan desserts.

Horrible customer service here. I live a few blocks away from Vegan Divas and went there for the first time about a month ago. I eat a well-balanced and pretty clean diet… Not necessarily vegan or gluten-free, but I figured this was a healthier option when I was getting a craving for something sweet. When I went into the store, the girl behind the counter seemed minimally knowledgeable about the products at best. I thought that was weird because if you are going to open a specialized bakery for a certain population of people who are going to be extremely knowledgeable about the food that they eat, you should have somebody behind the counter that can keep up with that. They were out of a lot of the products that they advertise on their website. I decided to buy only two things since it was my first time there. The first item was a banana chocolate chip muffin. I have to say, I am obsessed with everything banana and this muffin was disgusting. It was dry and the dark chocolate in the muffin was way too strong and bitter. I ended up throwing it out. The second item I purchased was a coconut vanilla cupcake. This tasted much better, maybe because it wasn’t gluten-free, and the texture was a lot more appetizing. I would say it tasted pretty delicious. I mentioned the place to one of my friends who eats an only vegan diet, and she said that any time she had gone to try that place it was closed. I thought that was weird but had it in the back of my mind. I found myself wanting to go back for one of those coconut cupcakes last weekend, so I checked for their store hours and it said they were open(it was a Sunday). I walked over to the storefront and what do you know? Everything was dark and there was a little hand handwritten note on the door that said, «closed on Sundays», as though the the girl behind the counter decided it was too nice to be working that day and decided to go to the beach instead. I was bummed out and went home. Today, on the other hand. That was the last straw for me. This morning I woke up and decided I would try again… around noon I called the store and I asked for the store hours so I wouldn’t make last weekend’s mistake. The girl said that they closed at 7 o’clock. I said OK great. I went about my day and ran my errands and at 6 o’clock I decided I would be able to go and grab a cupcake or two. I called and got the same woman, and I asked her if she had the kind of cupcake I wanted and she said no, but I still decided I wanted to try another cupcake so I confirmed with her again what time they closed because I didn’t want to go all the way over there to a dark storefront again. She said she closed at 7PM. 20 minutes later, 40 minutes before the store was supposed to close, I walked over to vegan divas and what do you know? Once again… Lights off. I was so angry, and what’s worse? The girl was in there, it looked like maybe she was cleaning the floor or something… And she just hand gestured that she wouldn’t open the door for me and that they weren’t open. Are you joking me? I just called you 20 freaking minutes ago! Because of these bad experiences I will NEVER go back to Vegan Divas and the owner should really consider getting someone else to run the store or they will definitely go out of business.

I love cakes, brownies and parfaits from Vegan Divas. Chocolate cake and passion fruit parfait are my absolute favorites! I bought different deserts for a party I hosted and my non-vegan friends were impressed by the taste and smooth texture. Many noted that Vegan Divas desserts were lighter and less sugary compared to traditionally prepared sweets. I know Whole Foods and The Matter of Health stores sell Vegan Divas products. I wish more eateries offered these delicious healthy desserts.

I always look at the reviews before using a place and I hope people check here before ordering a cake from this place. I attended a party, 30th birthday for family. The cake was FROZEN. The Host let the cake sit out for a while and then tried it again. The cake was still frozen and the parts that were defrosted were obviously STALE or FREEZERBURNED. I am a culinary graduate and it was very apparent to me that this cake was prepared way in advance. Maybe it was in the freezer too long before selling it for the party. In my opinion, cakes should not be delivered to a party frozen. The cake is a key element to a successful party, and honestly it was embarrassing for the Birthday girl, that she couldn’t even cut her own cake to make a wish! I think this owner should have offered a full refund, but instead, dodges calls, and was very rude and uncaring to this customer, leaving him feeling very dissatisfied with her resolution. I hope no one else experiences a frozen cake and the lack of customer skills from this business owner. SHAMEONYOU!

*** DONOTGIVEYOURBUSINESSTOVEGANDIVAS *** I’m what I like to call a motivated Unilocaler. To this point I have only reviewed one business. It was a local barbershop(Alex Barbershop) I found in my neighborhood before my wedding. They did such a great job that I felt I had to tell others about this excellent service. They turned me into a raving fan. Well, here is review #2 and this time, motivated by the exact opposite experience. I ordered a red velvet cake for my wife’s 30th surprise party. Prior to placing an order online, I called and spoke to a Divas employee about my potential order. Mentioned to them that we would be looking to serve the cake at 3pm and have it delivered at 2pm. The employee thought that was a good idea. Cake arrived at 2pm, was left out and we ATTEMPTED to serve it shortly after 3pm. The cake was frozen and unable to eat. We couldn’t even cut a slice. At no point did anyone from Vegan Divas or their website mention that they deliver their cakes frozen. I immediately called Vegan Divas to complain and the lies began. The worker told me they keep the cake in the freezer for an extended period of time prior to shipping. The owner, Fernanda, later told me that the cake is only frozen for a while. On our next call, she told me the cake was never frozen, only placed in the fridge so the cream won’t melt. In fact, I was also told by one of their workers that they leave a note in the cake box explaining to thaw out the cake. What? First off, there was no ridiculous note in the box. Secondly, if you’re providing a frozen product to your customer maybe you want to tell them when they talk to you, or online in the order process, or after the order has been created, or place a note on the outside of the box? Vegan Divas failed to produce an edible product and failed to provide at least decent customer service. It’s owner, Fernanda, was non-responsive and I had to track her down. She cares only about the money and not the satisfaction of her customer. She lied consistently to me about her product and refused to believe the cake was frozen. A good business chases the customer, not the dollar. *** DONOTGIVEYOURBUSINESSTOVEGANDIVAS ***

I have been a huge fan and friend of founder Fernanda for many years. I remember back in the days before she had a storefront and completely won me over with her kindness, stellar customer support and unique deliciousness of her desserts. A few years later, she is soaring with success. An e-commerce website, a storefront and a Vegan Divas Cookbook that I swear by. Every single experience here is top notch. Fernanda is innovative and always looking for new ways to delight her fans. She’s expanded above and beyond just desserts… check out for yourself. For those of you who live in NYC, a great perk is their same day courier delivery option. How convenient! I could go on forever, but I have a dozen Vegan Divas pumpkin donuts to devour. All in all… A+++. :-)

I wish I could find something positive to say about this place as I highly encourage vegan and gluten free food, but I can’t. Recently my fiancé’ ordered a birthday cake for me there. He picked it up the day of my party and when he cut into it the quality was horrible. Short of the frosting on the top, the actual cake was hard and crumbly(as if it had been sitting around for many days). EVERYONE at my birthday party threw their cake in the garbage. I reached out to Fernanda(the owner) who promised to correct this. Two weeks later when I e-mailed her to request the replacement cake I received a bounced back e-mail from her e-mail. I went into the bakery to resolve this in person(as well as order the promised replacement cake) and was told that even though she was in her office(which is in the same building) that I was not expected and could wait to see if she would come out. Really?! She never did come out but rather called me on the front counter phone and told me that her gmail was having issues… She informed the woman at the counter(who unfortunately was now caught in the middle of this) to credit me for the cake towards a new cake. Here’s the kicker. She gave her a $ 45 credit amount to give to me when MORE than that was spent on the original cake. I found out the ACTUAL amount after speaking with my fiancée’ Really?! I was called by Fernanda the next day and she explained to me that she was very busy the day I came in and that she would guarantee me a better experience with a new cake that was her«best seller». I agreed after some hesitation. The night BEFORE I was to pick up this«best seller» Fernanda had her baker call me to tell me the cake did not come out well and would I mind another cake. At this point I called Fernanda directly and asked for a refund, which she said she would do first thing on Monday(3 days later) and e-mail me. By late Monday night I had to e-mail her to remind her of this as I had not received an e-mail. I received an e-mail from her book keeper the next day stating that the purchase amount would be refunded within three business days. I can only hope this is the ONE promise/guarantee Fernanda actually keeps! I would not recommend this place to anyone wanting a QUALITY vegan cake, gluten free or otherwise and can only hope that this review will keep you from making the same mistake. A very disappointed and dissatisfied customer! *Update. The promised refund by Lisa has yet to post to the card used to purchase the cake. This is NOT surprising.

If you’re not vegan or not in a health-conscious or morally– conscious diet, this may not be a good choice if you are seeking sugary traditional baked goods. If you are open-minded or vegan or health-conscious, this place is fine. Also, as others have mentioned, prices may be of concern… Though the price on your health and state of mind will counterbalance. I love what this place stands to achieve and the shop’s cute appearance, but if I were a dessert-aholic for flavor and texture’s sake, the goals and décor would not be enough to keep me chewing. The cake is only mediocre, even from a health conscious vegan perspective. Healthy chocolate vegan cake is pretty simple if you ask me… However, the ‘mousse’ on the cake is fabulous– as long as you don’t mind soy. Also, they use a ton of nuts, so allergen concerned folks may be deterred in that sense. The cookies leave something to be desired, unless… Your mantra while eating them is: I need to be healthy but need something like a cookie. Except… The macaroons, coconut, that is. I found those to be quite satisfying! Also, great for a nondairy latte with almond milk! I support their efforts, but I will steer clear of cookies, brownies and the bottom of the chocolate cake. Raw, tarts, coconut-based(like the pear tart!) and lattes– good!

After trying some great vegan sweets from the likes of The Cinnamon Snail and Terri, I was slowly getting swayed into believing that vegan sweets could be just as good as the full sugary, buttery deliciously unhealthy versions. Unfortunately, that perception took a big step back with the few things I tried here. It looks like the Baked Doughnuts are the thing to get here. But you shouldn’t get them, because they are terrible. I tried the Chocolate Icing one($ 3), and even with the chocolate on top, it was completely tasteless. It was of a sponge-like consistency, and I don’t think it should even be classified as a doughnut. I think they should instead call it a «Baked Bland Sponge Cake With A Hole In The Middle». I gave up after two bites and tried the other thing I got, the Low Cal Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie(also a rip off at $ 3). I should have seen the«Low Cal» as a red flag and avoided it, but I always love anything peanut butter and I figured it couldn’t be too bad. Boy was I wrong — I gave up on this one after just one bite. It was so incredibly hard that it took some effort to bite a piece off. I could also barely taste any peanut butter. Do yourself a favor and go for the gloriously non-vegan versions of doughnuts at Doughnut Plant or any other place in the city for better doughnuts and pastries.
