Food: 5 stars Price: 4 Ambiance: 4 Service: 5 A small, classy peruvian place. Came here for lunch and it was empty except for us. I had their lunch special peruvian chicken and it was delicious. The sides were perfect and the yuca fries were amazing! The aji de gallina was also to die for! The one woman waitress was also incredibly friendly and made us feel so comfortable. Overall it’s a classier peruvian joint and I will definitely be back. I heard it’s closed now?

Village Pisco is a welcome addition to the neighborhood, offering fairly faithful renderings of Peruvian standards, albeit at high-rent prices. Pros: Easy to walk in or grab a last-minute reservation for a group. Con: Little décor to speak off(plastic tables with no drapery). Walk up and down 8th street and have a gander at all the chic new places and you’ll see that this can really make a difference. To hedge against neighborhood tastes, they diversified the menu, with Italian dishes and even American fare like burgers and sandwiches. But all the Andean staples are there: rotisserie chicken, Loma Saltado, Aji de Gallina, etc. I got the Arroz Chaufa(eseentially, Chinese fried rice, a fusion dish of Peru), mostly because it was affordable at $ 16(though really, should be around $ 10). It was pretty good, and the portion was medium. For starters, they do have Salchipapas and ceviche, but I’d like to see anticuchos and other tasty treats. We had tres leches and flan for dessert, both delicious. And the piscojito cocktail I ordered was spot on. A promising start, but I would encourage the owners to get more bold and more Peruvian with the menu.

Came here per reviews on Unilocal.Not particularly impressed. Service was average. We came on a Friday night around 7:30 without a reservation which I understand can be hard to accommodate. As a result, we were placed at the back of the restaurant with a temporarily set-up table that is just odd seating. Yet, the restaurant wasn’t even half full when we walked in and remained that way until we finished our meal. Not sure what prompted their decision to hold seats for the entire time when they could have let other customers take them. Food-wise, I consider it just okay. I’ve had Peruvian food at other places with more generous portions and wider selections. I am not extremely satisfied with my experience here and will likely not return.

Had dinner here Sunday with a friend. Ate so much food, I think I’m still full. We had the King’s Combo and Pisco Sours because who goes to a Peruvian chicken place and doesn’t order the chicken, I mean honestly. The combo was excellent. It came with a whole chicken, rice, beans, salad, salchapichas, tostones and sauces. All of which were very tasty. It was definitely enough food for 2 – 4 people. The Pisco sours were icing on the cake. Very tasty. I’d go again, but either with more people to share the combo, or I’d order something individual. My one complaint is the price, for which I deducted one star. I’ve had some amazing Peruvian chicken in my life, and this is the most expensive I’ve ever had. Not saying it wasn’t worth it, but if I can find chicken that’s just as good or better for less money… well you get the drift. The décor is nice. Cute place for a date. Get bubble tea down the street at Vivi for dessert afterwards if you’re not too stuffed.

Definitely go here for their Pisco cocktails/specialty drinks! I had the pisco sour which was good and tried my friend’s pisco cocktail with jackfruit and it was even better. Service is decent. I came here with a party of 7 on a Friday night and it wasn’t crowded. Strangely, there was only one server. My 2 friends and I decided to share a King’s Combo. The sides came out first and the chicken came out A LOT later. Everyone else at the table also got their food way earlier than us. It was weird and we were very happy(and hungry) by the time our food came out. The chicken is pretty good. I’ve never had Peruvian chicken before so I have nothing to compare it too. I especially liked the ceviche and calamari appetizers and the maduros side. For dessert we ordered the tres leche which I really really liked too. We ordered a pitcher of sangria but I’ve definitely had much better. I would go here again definitely for the pisco drinks!

Went here last with a small group — and what a find! Everyone on Unilocal is absolutely right about the rotisserie chicken. It’s moist, super flavorful and well seasoned. The half Chicken combo is the perfect size for dinner. We also got the chicken nachos and calamari which were delicious. The Pisco cocktails were unique — and definitely their specialty when it comes to alcohol. I would stay away from traditional bar drinks. I will definitely be coming back.

Enjoyed a nice dinner at Village Pisco last night. The place is very clean(even by non-New York standards) and pleasant, and our server was friendly and attentive. The Pisco Sour was very good, and my wife’s Malbec was great – rich and delicious. The menu is a rather odd mixture of American(nachos, chicken wings), Peruvian(Aji De Gallina, Ceviche) and Italian(Penne alla Vodka, Spaghetti). We found their chicken dishes very good – the chicken nachos and Aji De Gallina were tender and flavorful. About the only complaint I’d have is that we were there on a cold night and were seated beneath a heating vent that was pouring out a ridiculous amount of heat. It was like eating in a sauna. I should have asked to move, but it was a minor inconvenience in what was otherwise a very good dining experience.

What a miserable experience… I know my Peruvian & the food was passable at best. The drinks were a disappointment & much too expensive. By far, the worst part was the bartender. The guy was just not good at his job… We waited forever each time we ordered a drink. It got to the point that, when the waitress(who was not the problem) dropped off one drink, we had to immediately place an order for the next drink. I can understand that restaurants can get overwhelmed by a crowd but this was Valentines Day and the place was half empty. Everything was MUCH too expensive as well. If you’re ready to drop that kind of money, do yourself a favor & go to Pio Pio.

I love me a good pisco drink, and this place does it very well. They have a pretty decent cocktail menu(pisco sour and pisco mojito were my favorites). With that said I came at around 10pm on a friday, and it was a ghost town. no one there but us and the bartender. The bartender took about 5 minutes to make two drinks, I wonder how overwhelmed he would be if the place was busy. He didn’t really speak to us again until we asked for the check. We paid with a card and were going to leave the tip in cash, which I assume is a pretty normal thing, but the bar keep found it necessary to bring the credit card receipt to us and ask if we were going to leave a tip or not, because we put ‘0’ on the tip portion of the receipt. This is… infuriating to me… Is it the assumption that as a younger person that I would stiff the bartender? Or is it an even more ridiculous assumption that made him ask that in a condescending tone? The easiest way to get stiffed as a bartender is to do stuff like that. Due to his behavior, I will probably never come back here. Id rather travel all the way to midtown to get a good pisco. All said, its about $ 10 a drink off of happy hour, and the location is nice. I cant speak for the quality of food at this place, but if it’s anything like the nasty bartender, i’d say stay away.

My friends and I had a really excellent meal here. Everything was delicious from start to finish, and even though it was a busy Friday night, we also received great service. We promptly put in orders for Pisco Sours and when our drinks were delivered, we were not disappointed — definitely the best I’ve had. The swirls of bitters on the top were very pretty. The menu had so many great options and it was difficult to choose what to order among the tempting-sounding salads, South American-inspired dishes featuring their rotisserie chicken(which they are known for) and a section of Italian entrees, mainly pastas. I ended up going with the Aji de Gallina(a Peruvian chicken stew served with potatoes, olives, and hard-boiled eggs), which was served with rice on the side, and it was fantastic. The combination and depth of flavors were just so good that it was hard to make the decision to leave some leftovers for home! This is a great place to go with small groups of friends, or for a casual date. The prices were quite reasonable — $ 16 for a pretty sizable entrée(definitely couldn’t finish it in one sitting) and $ 11 for the wonderful Pisco Sour.

Overpriced Peruvian in a potentially great location, but with a woefully bad interior. Maybe just stop by for a happy hour pisco sour or the lunch special, but skip the full dinner. What they describe as «Peruvian-American fusion» really just means the baffling inclusion of buffalo wings and calamari as appetizer choices. And also«a little bit of Italy» as main dish choices. Weird. My Pisco sour was delicious, but a bit on the small side since it had so much foam that lingered. Our table of 4 tried the Limeno ceviche, which was pretty good but had an abundance of corn nuts and not enough sweet potato. We had already been snacking on the corn(free!), so I didn’t need any more to take up room in my ceviche. The King’s combo was pretty thorough in its sides, but it’s several dollars more expensive than the competition. This place ranks in between Pio Pio Riko(on 8th) and Pio Pio(on 10th) in its atmosphere and overall execution, but its prices are the highest of the 3. The tostones were really good, but none of the dipping sauces were great(see Thomas M’s review). The maduros and salchipapas were fine. Service alternated between overbearing and completely absent, but was overall pleasant enough. I love tres leches cake but couldn’t bring myself to pull the trigger on it for $ 9, even if I wasn’t paying. $ 9 for a slice?! Yes, Pio Pio’s is $ 8, but they have a fancier atmosphere(and their big combo is $ 2 cheaper).

Oops. NOT a nighttime spot. My friends and I stopped by around 10:00 on Sunday and we were the only ones there! Sadly, I wasn’t impressed by the cocktails. My husband had the Albion, which certainly wasn’t anything memorable(though I don’t blame them, since bourbon isn’t their specialty). As for the pisco drinks: I’ve had pisco cocktails before, and I expected the ones here to be significantly better, or at least different, than what I’ve had in the past… but that was not the case. I guess a pisco sour is just a pisco sour.

This is my favorite spot in Manhattan for a cocktail. That’s exactly why I had my birthday dinner here with 10+ friends two weeks ago! And everyone at Pisco was so friendly — they even kept my friends’ surprise b-day cake for me in the fridge and brought it out for us! All my friends loved the drinks and food they had, and they were even thanking me for choosing this place for the night. It was a great night. I’m going again with my friend who’s graduating on Monday and his sister visiting from St. Louis. :)

Went on a rainy Wednesday and had the entire restaurant to ourselves. Sadly, it was empty(because of the weather… not the food). The food is wonderful. Crispy fried yucca, sweet plaintains and the most flavorful rotisserie chicken I’ve ever tasted(and I’ve tasted many). A trio of dipping sauces to celebrate your meal with, but you don’t need them to add flavor. Do they brine? Not sure how the flavor penetrates the meat so deeply, but it is flavored to the bone. I’ve had chicken where only the skin has taste and the rest is warm gut fill. Not here. Flavor punch to the face. An entire half chicken and side for under $ 15. Tasty mojito and happy hour to boot.

I love Peruvian food. I liked to go to Pio Pio in HK since I lived around there, however, I felt the service always was a hit or miss there. Village Pisco is everything I was looking for. Great ceviche, delicious chicken(with 3 sauces!!!), and attentive lady waitress(owner?). The Pisco Sour was good too. I’ll be back again! I will be sure to recommend to my friends.

Great place for cocktails. I had recently gotten back from Peru and was taking a friend out who had lived there for a couple of years. The cocktails are mostly Peruvian inspired(most things made with Pisco), but they use reasonably authentic ingredients. Bartender was really friendly(was a slow night just before closing). My favorite cocktail was the Flaming Lips, which had yellow pepper(aji) and a cumin-salted rim. Very unique tasting. I also tried the Tiger’s Milk and the Mary Jane. The Tiger’s Milk had red pepper, so it was pretty spicy(also cilantro, if you’re into that). The Mary Jane had cloves and basil. Both also used ginger-infused Pisco. I love ginger in my cocktails, so they were both damn good. Also tried the Pisco sangria(I’m not a lush, I promise). That one was good. Wasn’t too sweet, and came in a gigantic glass. The décor of the place is also very nice. It’s a long restaurant with tons of tables. Some cool mood lighting, and all very modern. I also took a look at the dinner menu, and it looked pretty solid. A lot of traditional Peruvian dishes(they have a rotisserie in the kitchen!) but also some random Italian food. Next time, I’m definitely coming back for the food!

Pisco means — a white brandy made in Peru from muscat grapes. I had to google that before going. I was really surprised that this place had just a handful of people in it around dinner time. It’s lovely inside with dim lighting and nice décor. We sat at the bar since there was more than enough room. We were greeted and attended by one of the friendliest bartenders. I had to try their Pisco Sour drink which is made with –fresh lime juice, cinnamon & cloves syrup, beaten egg whites, angostura bitter. They were delicious and so different in taste. But they are strong drinks so I stopped myself after the second. The person I was with did not want to order food or even try any of their great drinks. instead he had a Samuel Adams? …In a Peruvian restaurant.(I don’t get it either). But that did not stop me from ordering food. I had a quarter chicken($ 7) and their side orders of rice and beans.($ 5). The portion size was great for the price. The best part was their sauces… the bartender gave me the name but I completely forgot(I will update). They were different colors, that’s how I remember the basic one(green), mild(yellow), and spicy(orange). The yellow sauce was my favorite… it was great to add it to the chicken and rice giving it that extra flavor. I can’t wait to go back!
