I just discovered Vintry.
I had been searching for a specific vintage of a favorite Rhone Valley wine in a magnum format. I found Vintry on

First, they have in stock what they say they have in stock, which is not always the case. There is a lot of bait and switch that happens, but not Vintry. It is refreshing when looking for specific wines and specific vintages.
Second, their selection is ridiculous. I have spent all morning going through their stock, and it is beyond impressive. Prices are spot on. I cross referenced some of the prices on both mid priced, and higher end wines before my purchase with some dealers I regularly buy from and they were almost exactly the same.
Third, the customer service I received was very professional. Quick and efficient. I am going to venture out and guess that issues in previous reviews have been resolved.
They have a very professional, and classy operation.
I am happy to have a new spot to wine shop at, and feel confident purchasing from them. I look forward to attending some of their wine events.

I think they’ve improved their interaction with customers since my June 2013 review. I no longer feel compelled to look for an alternative. It still caters to the high end.

This store has the most beautiful presentation of wine that I have seen. It’s a gorgeous store that winds round and round and the wine is all clearly displayed and looks gorgeous. So five starts for that. The selection is excellent. We were greeted by 2 female staff members and asked twice if we needed any help. We were just browsing so we said no and continued browsing. We ended up purchasing 2 bottles of wine, spending about 90.00. We could have spent much much more given the prices here range from 25 and go way upward.
My experience with the staff was fine, I suppose their demeanor is a little frosty, but they did ask if we needed help and the check out experience was fine. I can see how they may come off as snooty, but I did not really experience that. Prices are marked up maybe a dollar or 2 compared to other stores, nothing to deter a visit.

When I walked in, I was a little overwhelmed but in a good way. The décor is very interesting. The display made me feel like I was in a wine museum. They offer many selections from all over the country so you will definitely find a bottle to take home or give as a gift.

This wine store is amazing. Staff is very friendly and know what they are talking about. I never leave without buying something. Often they have tastings with food. Also have an excellent selection of spirits. Located right near Shake Shack and Payard (a deadly trifecta). Since I am back downtown I have been coming here more often. Gold standard of service.

Wow! Because we live in Battery Park North and the shop looks so good from the outside, I kept going back, despite the snarky attitude. On Friday, I bought two bottles of Sancerre ($ 25 – 28 each) and one of them had turned. On Saturday, I returned the full bottle (with broken cork) and the woman behind the counter SMELLED the wine, which was like vinegar and said nothing more than «do you have your credit card?» and looked at me like I was nuts.
On top of that, when I proceeded to buy another bottle (yes, like a fool) she said nothing, not «thanks» or «have a good night» or «sorry about that bottle.»
The convenience and nice looking displays are not worth the aggravation of the rude staff. The short walk to Chambers Street Wine or Frankly Wines just got shorter.

So, a little while after I wrote this review, I got an email from Vintry about some event or another. I unsubscribed from the list, complete with a snarky comment about not wanting to give my money to a shop with such a rude staff when asked why. Lo and behold, a few days later, I heard from the manager. He apologized profusely, asked me to describe the incident and the employee in greater detail, and assured me he would correct the issue. He even offered me a free bottle of wine to make up for the experience, which was really unexpected and really nice of him. I’ve been back a couple of times since then and although the staff hasn’t done a total 180, they’ve been much nicer — you know, behaving as you would expect someone in a wine shop to behave. If you’ve had a bad experience with Vintry in the past and find yourself in the area, consider giving it another shot.

We went in to this shop a couple of times when they first opened. We did not feel the attitude of the staff created a warm or welcoming environment and as a result we walk an extra few blocks to get our wines and liquors. Service is everything in this city and if you’re too good for your clients, they’re unlikely to return. Too bad.

This store is beautifully designed and has an amazing selection of wines. The champagne offerings are particularly impressive.
Unfortunately, due to the attitude of the staff, I will be looking elsewhere in the future. On two separate occasions, I was subject to very patronizing treatment by an employee, who decided she wanted nothing to do with me after I answered her question on how much I was willing to spend (in my case, $ 30 or under).
I live nearby and was initially excited at the prospect of another well curated wine store in the area. I love wine (at all price points) and frequent other neighborhood spots Frankly Wines and Chambers Street Wines, both of which have great selections (and unpretentious, friendly service).
Maybe it’s just one bad egg. I certainly hope so, because I’d love to revisit this place without having to deal with rolled eyes and nasty attitudes.

Stunning store. I live in BPC and have been waiting for a wine shop like this — impressive selection with truly incredible service. There is something for everyone here. If you’re looking for something special, they can help (and they apparently have many more wines available through the Internet that they can deliver to you) but more importantly, they had a great selection of affordable wines that the staff was very eager to help me with as well. A refreshing wine shopping experience, I’m glad they are in the neighborhood!
