This place has steadily declined over the years. Best items are the burger and wings. Salads good as well. The rest of the menu is more miss than hit. French dip is awful as is the brisket. Lots of beer on tap but no longer a good option for us.

Waterfront house doesn’t pretend to be anything that it’s not. It’s a clean/old fashion good ol’pub. This place has a huge selection of craft beers and it’s food is hearty, tasty and decent priced. The burgers are definitely a must-have and their traditional Irish dishes plus any of their brisket dishes are just absolutely amazing. But you must order their Mac n’ Cheese as an appetizer! So good! Desert menu is small but you’d be doing a this service to yourself if you didn’t get their waterfront house bread pudding. Just do it!

had a good time here. place is what you would expect from a tavern in terms of food – lots of pulled meat sandwiches, pretzels, wings, etc. the beer list was extensive with a lot of rare seasonal beers offered(including the beer of the week, which is only $ 5). i got the quesadillas, they were perfectly cheesy and warm. only drawback about them is they are served with only sour cream, no salsa. i heard good things about the angus burger and chicken fingers from my friends, though. im giving this place a 4 instead of a 3 because of our server Debbie. She was always there when i needed a refill on my beer, was super helpful when explaining the menu and a general pleasure to be around. overall a cool place to grab a drink and solid bar food.

Really fresh food coupled with amazing beer. I had an Oyster Po’ Boy and a Weihenstephaner. Oyster Po-Boy Special: –fresh fried oysters were super tangy and fresh but the rest of the sandwich was decent, and there were only 4 oysters, I wish they added more. Little too much bread. Enjoyed this with a nice, tall glass of Weihenstephaner, floral banana Hefeweis, simply delicious! Craft beer dream! I was in shock when I saw the Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout bottle($ 22), which is extremely hard to find. They have other great options on tap as well. They have rotating daily food specials and a beer of the day. I’m definitely gonna back and try some of their other seafood offerings!

My objective was to find something cheap and healthy for hang outs with a former coworker this past week. The other request was for it to be in Murray bro Hill. I’m not sure if I struck gold on all those or any of those lol. Things that are good about this bar and why it’s not a just meh, 3 stars: Their happy hour is decent for the area. They have a beer of the day($ 4.50) that rotates regularly. This particular day it was Yuengling and I passed because everything else was only $ 5 until 7pm. Pretty decent selection on tap. Had both a Kona and Longtrail brews I like. I know I bookmarked this initially before because online it said they had an extremely hard to find bottle from dogfish head. I didn’t inquire about bottle selection but may come back for that one. I ordered their pulled chicken sandwich. It’s freaking AMAZING. The sauce it glistens in is ridiculously good and there was so much meat on my bun. So many jokes inserted here. Though I think for its price tag it should seriously have fries with it instead of the lack-luster bland coleslaw and pickle. My buddy ordered the brat sausage and garlic mashed potatoes along with chicken fingers. I helped with his potatoes. Good but not outstanding. They could have used more butter and garlic for sure. Don’t be skimpy. Load them taters up. Food is… decent-acceptable. Beer and liquor options — above average for the area with a solid happy hour. They also have free popcorn(which is still usually a big deal to me in bars) and a tantalizing sounding desert menu. Annoying qualities? The youngins that gathered here was quite the crowd for a Wednesday evening, hollering and blocking the door, selfies, jumping up and down. But it wasn’t too bad. I can see this being a better lunch spot as you can get a beer and a sandwich, chili, salad, etc for only $ 11.50.

Great neighborhood spot! My boyfriend and I go here a lot before movies at Kips Bay. Food is great, friendly service, and the prices aren’t crazy. Ya gotta try the loaded waffle fries. Also, for all you LA kids, their pickles taste EXACTLY like Canter’s Deli. Only bad thing about this place is their«tequila lime sour cream». Avoid…

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. STRICTLYFORWHENITCAMETIMETOPAYTHEBILL. I got bitched out for ONLY wanting to leave a 20% tip… It was 3 of us and only ordered 3 beers. Alexi was our waiter. Don’t worry I will be letting EVERYONE know via FB-Twitter-Instagram about this. Never returning here again.

Still kicking after many years, Waterfront Ale House is one of the few taverns in this town that haven’t changed one bit. Still the loud music, still the rowdy-and-surly-looking-but-actually-sweet waitress who’s been there forever, still the mix of old regular, NYU medical students, and a dollop of Murray Hill bros and broettes. Though their venerable beer list is no longer the best game in town – or even the neighborhood – it’s still reliable and never disappointing. The food has also aged well, with a nice array of burgers and sandwiches. I had myself a reuben on my recent visit and it was good. I haven’t had a chance to partake of the free popcorn, but one of these days after a late night feature at Loews… Stay real, Waterfront!

Decent spot with good beer selection but service is Terrible. Waiter was visible annoyed when we said we might just have drinks. After deciding to stay for dinner, wait staff was inattentive. Food ok.

I live less than a block from Waterfront Ale House and decided to try it just the other day. I’ve lived in the neighborhood awhile now and just haven’t had a chance to get there. I placed a takeout order for buffalo wings not knowing to expect. They were just alright. I’ve been wanting to stop in for a drink and maybe eat there. People have told me great things about this spot and I look forward to trying it out again. Maybe I’ll try something different next time!

I love this place for a low key dinner. My husband loves their hamburger, but I’m not a huge burger-lover, so I’ve tried other things. The french onion soup is very good, but overpriced. The texas chili is NOT my favorite ATALL. But finally, the other night I got the fish and chips… it was SOSOSO good. I honestly couldn’t believe how fresh the fish was for this corner pub. It blew my mind. They also have free, self serve popcorn when/if you want. They also have a pretty large selectoin of beer and some wine available. Definitely nice for a very casual dinner, especially if you’re seeing a movie at AMC Kips Bay right near by!

Good beer selection. Good service. The pricing bothers me though. First of all, it’s quite expensive. They were doing a promotion with Montauk Brewery but the beers were $ 8.50. The exact same beer, same size was $ 4 diagonal across 2nd Ave at Albion. Pricing didn’t seem to be included on the chalkboard listing the beers. The coins are annoying too. Another beer that I got was $ 7.25. C’mon now… Also, they close quite early. 11 on Thursdays, if Google is to be believed. I was leaving around 10 on Tuesday and it seemed that they were winding down and moving people out.

If you’re reading this and are a fan of popcorn, don’t forget that this place has its own popcorn machine at the end of the bar that you can help yourself! I only discovered this after my second drink but wish I found this salty, buttery delicious treat earlier. It pairs very well with a beer and this ale house has quite the diverse selection of drinks on tap. I haven’t tried the food yet but if you are a connoisseur of some nice crafts, I’d recommend you pop by this joint, have a cold one and be served by the friendly bartender.

Stopped in for a quick drink after work. I had some kind of rum punch which worked well on a hot Summer afternoon. Bartender was very nice, professional. Selection of draft beers is impressive. Food menu looks interesting, I need to come back next week for lunch. They have a coupon thing going — free beer with any entrée — but I don’t know if the free beer is from a limited list — usually in these situations you do not get a free craft beer. Worth a try if you are in the neighborhood. They are now open for brunch Saturday and Sunday — very limited menu — breakfast stuff.

I chose this place based on its proximity to a doctor’s office appointment and Unilocal reviews. My husband and I were the first customers for lunch. The décor was dark and dingy. After being seated, we were offered popcorn, but had to get it from the machine ourselves. We refused to budge. For lunch I ordered the veggie burger with mango mayo and my husband ordered the catfish po boy sandwich. Both orders came with waffle fries. The waffle fries were okay, but fried too hard for me. I usually love veggie burgers, but the bland flavor and veggie/grain mix of their’s reminded me of pet food. Also, the mango mayo did not work. I let the waitress know this but she did not take it off the bill or offer me something as an alternative. The catfish po boy sandwich was a thousand times better than the veggie burger. It was delicious although it could’ve used more Cajun mayo and a softer bread bun. In hindsight, I should’ve ordered the catfish sandwich like my husband did or the fish and chips which they were rated highly on. The service was okay, but I doubt I’ll ever return. The place is too drabby and customer satisfaction is not a top priority.

My first time there the place was not busy, took waiter was busy talking to friends at bar, didn’t even acknowledge we were there. Had to get his attention. I had really lousy service, waiter didn’t know the menu, gas to ask another waiter on ingredients in veggie burger. Food was good. Decided to give it another try, next server was very short and s but abrasive, didn’t take directions on our order that we wanted apps and main course at same time. They really need to train the staff better, and supervise better!

So after a nice long hike, one would want a nice cold beer and delicious bar food to go along with it. Waterfront Ale house does have different beers on tap but when you asked the waiter the question of «what is your strongest beer on tap?» And the dude doesn’t respond there are some issues with that. Here are some pro’s and cons for our families experience here at Waterfront Ale House –Cons * We asked for the special IPA beer of the week and not only did it take about 10 mins to bring us. The waiter never told us what was going on and the reason of why it was taking so long. * When we did finally get the special beer of the week it was a little flat and when we asked the waiter for a different beer he looked really annoyed but yet we didnt tell him to take it back, we actually finished it. * When we asked for the new beer he brought us a sample and when we said we liked it and wanted to know which beer it was … his response was«It was similar to the Magic Hat». Thats not even the big issue we are patient people but when we ask for another beer and it takes 10 mins and the beer tap is right infront of you, that is where the issue lies. * The service we received yesterday was not very friendly like some of the reviews that i have read. Infact our guy looked so annoyed when we just asked for beer and when he finally served us our beer he just sort of pushed it across infront of us. Pros * This place has the BESTFISHANDCHIPS * This place does have a good beer selection * This place is very convenient and the meals are fantastic * Its not jam packed which is always a plus.
This place could have gotten a 5 if the service was better. The food being so yummy and the fact that they have the best Fish and Chips that I’ve tasted so far is what saved this place. Maybe it was just one bad day for the guy. who knows?

Expectations going into an ale house: good beers, quick service, and some fatty but wonderful bar food. For Kips Bay, not actually easy to find, but this place fit the bill. Relatively empty on a Saturday evening, got an immediate seat at the bar. $ 5 beer special(they pick one different craft a day apparently) which is a no brainer. Also got the current special of Chili Chicken Nachos($ 13ish). Nachos had plenty of ingredients, although a little heavy on the olives. Cheese was plentiful, and a good amount of meat as well, but towards the ends a lot of grease was left that didn’t mix well with the meal. Overall it was enough to fill me up, and went well with the beer. Beer selection is okay, and staff was relatively quick. Nothing fancy about this place, just an average watering hole.
