I called at 7:45 to pick up dinner. They said 20 mins until the food is ready. I came around 8:10 to pick it up. The girl said she didn’t get my order and it would be 10 mins. Okay I go outside and come back in ten.Waited. The time is now 8:40 she brings the food.

I came back here twice in hopes that this place will be different. My boyfriend’s family loves this place and the two times I’ve been here I have not gotten that same experience that they’ve talk about. The food is ok, nothing special about the food. Service was slow both times i’ve been here. And they messed up on my order twice.(I didnt say anything because I was hungry and picked out the tomatoes) Both times i said NO tomatoes, and what do I find? tomatoes. The first time I was here there were two young kids(~14 years old) serving us with water and chips and salsa but another server took our order. The time after that, the service was even slower without the kids! We got seated and it took a server over 20 mins to come up to us to take our order.(After they brought us salsa and chips) Then it took another 15 – 20 min to get our food and then we only ate it for like 10 min because they got our orders wrong, but we were so hungry we just picked out what we didnt want and ate it. Total time in the restaurant 1 hour but we only took 10 mins to eat, the rest of the time was just sitting there waiting.

Last week, we brought our employees here for their annual Christmas luncheon. We were a party of about 15 and everyone had a good time and they especially enjoyed the food. Customer service was stellar.

Came here with my coworkers for lunch because our job is around the corner. It was my first time here. I ordered their el Gordo burrito with chicken. They don’t use black beans which l always request every time l go to a taqueria restaurant. Oh wells. The salsa and chips were delicious. The burrito was tasty, but small. The owner we very nice to us. The prices is reasonable.

I’ve been coming here for years but I only order 1 thing off of the menu. The camarones a la Diabla are by far my favorite. The service has always been friendly and fast. Definitely a must try!

i cant believe the bad review this place has received. i have been coming to this hole in a wall spot and never had any problem with my food or service. I came by today before work and ordered the Chile verde with flour tortillas, and in less then 20 mins my food was set on the table and i had my soda refilled quickly once i had finished it. the food was great, and the service was on time. i loved it and you guys will always have my business

Yuck I live right by this place yet have never been here before. I’m not sure why, it could be because it’s kinda tucked away and next to an adult book store, but I have managed to avoid it for a while… Anyway, I came here for lunch with my coworkers the other day. And now I know why I’ve avoided this place. The restaurant looks tiny from the outside but is actually a decent size. Décor-wise…think 80’s cheesy Mexican themed restaurant, chrome framed round sofa chairs and all. The menu is pretty big, and there are a lot of choices and combos to pick from. They have a limited lunch menu as well. The tables all have chips and salsa… The chips were a little on the extra toasty side. All of them. I wish I got a picture but my coworkers were making fun of my food picture taking so I chilled lol. Anyways, the chips were burnt, the salsa tasted like it should be refrigerated but never was. One bite and I was good off it. Not a fan of sour tomatoes. When it was time to order, I wasn’t too hungry so I ended up getting just one carnitas taco and one tamale from the a la carte menu. The food took forever to come out because we had a party of about 14 people and there was only one person working the whole restaurant. Keep in mind, we had submitted a head count in the reservations, but they just were not prepared. By the time I got my food it was luke warm. But warm tacos aren’t bad, so I dug in. And dug right back out. Nasty. The carnitas tasted like they were reheated about two different times. They were hard and just tasted stale and bad. I couldn’t eat the taco, so i moved it to the side and started on the tamale, which was luke warm as well. The tamale wasn’t much better than the taco. The masa was rubbery and flavorless, and the filling was dry and like sandpaper. I took down about half of it thanks to the gravy that was on it and made it semi-palatable, but couldn’t eat anymore than half of it. When the waitress came around to take our plates away, she asked me why I didn’t like her food. Talk about awkward! There is a serious lack of good Mexican food in this area and this is yet another place that falls into that category. Oh, and it’s super overpriced for what you get too. I definitely won’t be coming back.

Our new go-to spot for Mexican food! Had the chile verde, it was delish. Hubby had a super burrito with carnitas, which he loved. Live music on Friday nights was great. Only wish the cerveza was cheaper!

I wish I could give them 6 star’s. Their food and service is amazing. I love their beans. I have only had a few dishes here, but every one has been amazing. It’s a little hole in the wall, but don’t let that give you a bad feeling about this place.

This used to be one of our favorite places to eat Mexican food. However I think there has been a change in ownership. Lady with cart gone. And no faces did we recognize. Service was poor due to understaffing. Chips and salsa horrible. Chips looked burnt and the salsa had no flavor. Used to have awesome chips and salsa they now serve a pick de gallo style. Food used to come out quickly with lots of flavor not the last 2 visits. Won’t be back!

I highly don’t recommend for anybody to come this place! I just went here for the first time with my coworkers, and we all felt like we got completely ripped off. We ordered 7 tacos and 2 burrito and 4 michelada. It came up $ 80 total! That’s insane for everything we ordered. The food wasn’t even good and the drinks were okay. For all you Unilocalers, go somewhere else better. I’m not ever coming back here again.

A small hole in the wall eatery, next to an Adult book store. Food, average. Service needs work. I ordered a #19 beans, rice and two soft tacos of carne asada. Average in flavor. The carne asada could have been better.

I would have enjoyed the visit more if I would have visited the bookstore next door. Food was awful and service was terrible. I ordered a salad, yes — i’m trying to eat healthier. I asked the waitress(took her 15 minutes to even acknowledge me) what was in it — she had no idea and took a guess. She was wrong — completely wrong. I only saw this waitress once… and they were not busy! I had to ask several times for my check. No Bueno!

On Saturday, 4÷5÷14, my girlfriend, mother and I ate at La Cabana for lunch. I’ve been eating at La Cabana for a very long time. My Grandma used to live in the apartments across the street from La Cabana, it was a staple for my family and I to eat at. Even as an adult, I’ll still head over to Newark just to get some good Mexican food at La Cabana. Atmosphere/Décor: The food at La Cabana is definitely 4 stars. The reason why I’m giving it 3 stars is due to the atmosphere. The atmosphere at La Cabana is definitely less than outdated. The seats are a combination of run down burgundy leather with brass arm rests. The décor definitely looks like it was all found at the good will and hasn’t been changed in several years. I honestly think it is the same as when I was a kid. The appearance of the restaurant from the outside is confusing. You almost wouldn’t even know if it is a restaurant unless you’ve been there or someone has told you about it. La cabana is located right next to a Adult Book Store and an AA meeting place. The restaurant seriously needs a facelift. Food: I ordered the La Nina. I always go with the shredded beef enchilada, carnitas soft taco and the chile verde tostada. Their combination plates come with beans and rice as well. The food is great! The shredded beef, carnitas, and chile verde are always on point. The meats are fresh and tasty. The carnitas is cooked very well. It has tons of flavor and that nice crisp texture to it. The chile verde is mild and not spicy at all. Its really good pork cooked simple. The shredded beef is very tender and loaded with flavor as well. Their enchilada sauce is good enough to drink. The chips and salsa are so so. The chips seem as if they were made the day or night before based on the look and texture. My mom ordered a combination plate which consisted of a shredded beef enchilada and a chile verde soft taco. She was very pleased with her meal. My girlfriend ordered a taco plate which came with two soft tacos. She decided to go with a carne asada taco and chile verde taco. She liked the food as well but said the carne asada was just okay and I agree with her. They definitely don’t have the best tasting carne asada, it’s just okay. I haven’t eaten here on a Sunday in several years but if you decide to come on that day you’ll be in for a surprise. On Sundays, they use to play loud music from a juke box. A lot of the music was Mariachi style music. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Each entrée comes with a garden iceberg salad with your choice of dressing. It’s seems as if it is the cheap salad iceberg lettuce mix they sell at foodmax. You can pass on the salad, trust me, you’re not missing anything. Service: The waitresses use a cart on wheels to deliver your food. You always know when your food is coming out no matter where you sit at because the cart’s wheels is so loud from running over the grooves of the floor tiles. This is the only restaurant that I’ve ever been to where they use carts to deliver your food. All of their waitresses speak Spanish and most likely it is their primary language. My order has been wrong a few times but they have always remade or fixed the issue. Overall: La Cabana is good Mexican Food. Even though the atmosphere and décor is not all that great, I will continue to eat at La Cabana. If you want some good Mexican food and you aren’t snobby about the décor of a restaurant then visit La Cabana.

It was about 4:45 in the afternoon. I had just arrived in Silicon Valley from San Diego. It seemed like a good idea at the time to not eat anything all day except for the Southwest peanuts and pretzels. I passed by a Taco Bell on the way to my hotel and thought, I want Mexican food. Determined to do something local, I checked Unilocal and found La Cabana. I pulled up and was indeed shocked by the look from the outside. As described, between an adult bookstore and a meeting room that looked like a place for AA meetings. Also, a giant backhoe was sitting in front of the entrance excavating a water leak in the parking lot. I almost turned around. I was glad I didn’t. I went inside and was surprised by the clean inviting atmosphere. Much like the standard Mexican restaurant I am used to in Oklahoma and Texas. I sat down and was brought chips and salsa. The salsa had a bit of heat to it and had a nice almost pico de gallo consistency. I ordered the Santa Maria which came with a salad, taco, enchilada and chili relleno. The plate also came with rice and beans. The food came out instantaneously. First a salad that was fresh and a decent size. Then the Santa Maria plate. I enjoyed the taco and enchilada. The relleno was fair. Rice and beans nothing special. That said, overall, for the price and enthusiastic service, I was very pleased. Overall, not quite a 4 but better than a 3. Would I go back Yes. So, I am a Fan it is. Thank you!

Thoroughly disgusted with this place. I came here yesterday and purchased shredded chicken nachos and a bottled Sierra Mist soda. I leave and head back to work to try to enjoy my lunch. Didn’t happen. I open my soda and take a sip and thinking«why is this so flat if it’s new?» And to my surprise this soda expired on March 11, 2013!!! It’s January 2, 2014. Wtf!!! Not only was my soda old as sh*t but the chips was stale and the cheese wasn’t even melted. I’m for sure never coming back to this disgusting place serving old ass food/drinks!!!

Food was bad and service was worst. First and last time. New cook isn’t an excuse for an attitude against your customers.
