Although I’ve only been there once, but I love this place already! Very nice atmosphere and you’ll definitely feel the privacy from table to table, the portion of the green curry I got was huge(it was an unbelievable big portion comparing to other Thai restaurants) and was so delicious, other dishes were great too, and the FBI(Fried banana Ice-cream) was just right(not overly sweetened) and they let you pick your ice cream(vanilla, mango, coconut, etc.)

After seeing this place change names so many times, we finally decided to check this out for my birthday dinner before it goes away. There were only two waitresses and not that many people on a Monday. The service is a bit slow. I wanted the mango salmon but they ran out of that so I had to get the scallops instead. My husband got the bbq korean dish and we ordered the fusion dish for appetizer. All the food was good and I hate to see this place go. Hopefully they have better business over the weekend.

I love the food here but there’s something about this location that just doesn’t work. It’s a huge area and I have never once seen it remotely close to being at full capacity. I wonder if this is sustainable for the long run. Anyways, the food is good here. I come here often for a quick bowl of phở. I’m still unsure how to judge the quality of phở but the fact that I order it on a regular basis must mean something. I’ve had just about everything on the menu and it’s all been satisfactory.

After relaxing at home on a rainy & cold Sunday afternoon my fiancé & I decided to make the drive to Red Chili for dinner. I was craving Tom Yum Goong badly. What we ordered: * Fresh Shrimp Spring Rolls(2-pieces) = $ 4.00 * Tom Yum Goong soup(medium spicy) = $ 7.95 * Green Curry Beef(extra spicy) = $ 8.95 * Pad Thai = $ 8.50 * Choo Chee Tofu(extra spicy) = $ 8.95 * Rice = $ 1.00 * Thai Iced Tea = $ 2.50 It was a LOT of food and we got carried away. We ordered a Bowl of soup rather than the Hot Pot because we thought it would be a small portion. True, it was smaller than the Hot Pot which the table next to us had but the Bowl was also large enough to feed up to 4 people. We asked for«medium spicy» and after a few sips the spice definitely kicked in. It tasted more like«hot’ or «extra spicy» but still manageable. The broth was flavorful and featured plenty of mushrooms & prawns. We asked for the green curry beef & choo chee tofu in «extra spicy» but these 2 didn’t taste spicy at all. The green curry beef is served w/eggplant and I am NOT an eggplant fan but I tried it anyway and surprised myself. It was actually quite tasty. I’ll pass on the choo chee tofu next time. It’s basically tofu squares served in red curry. Would’ve been better if the tofu was crispy & had veggies. For the price, I’d go w/another entrée. The pad thai was delish — loaded with tofu, egg, shrimp, & chicken. I liked that they served the bean sprouts and nuts on the side too. The prices are reasonable, good-sized portions, fast service, & clean. I want to try a few other dishes on the menu so we’ll probably be back. Though I didn’t see any unique creations.

Food = 4 Ambiance = 3(too big, cold feeling, but clean) Service = 3 The service is super questionable. We had a pretty good server, but this a different server(short guy) kept screwing everything up. We had to ask for our soup three times and our dessert twice. The organization of the place needs some significant help. The food was really good. Eggplant Spicy Dish = 5 stars(we had it with chicken) Coconut Soup = 5 stars(whoa…good…also chicken) Spring Rolls = 3 stars(had it with tofu) Fried Banana w/ice cream = 3 stars(we had it with coconut icecream which was awesome, but the bananas had no taste and a lot of batter) Hot Tea = 4 stars(ouch, first served it to me with lipstick marked cup… but, the stuff was pretty good once I got a new cup. had a slight vanilla background). I think this place just needs some help with their service, and somehow taek advantage of the large space and make the restaurant more comfy.

Trying this place for the first time a month ago the food was great. Had the papaya salad extra spicy and they delivered to my spicy craving. Pumpkin curry was good. The mango fried fish was delish… it came. with this mango salad thing and tasted amazing. Now the reason why they only got four stars is because it took forever for our food. It’s was like the bought each plate in 20 mins apart to each other. Oh we also got the sample appetizers thing. Not worth the price. Again. Good food but long ass wait.

Alright, so the BFF and I tried to go here for lunch earlier this week. We walked in and it looked busy, the resto was maybe half-full but, there was no one at the host stand. There was a guy in front of us waiting as well. The phone kept ringing, a couple of the servers even saw the guy, us and now the two ladies that walked in. Finally, someone comes up… oh, it’s a little boy who’s playing hide and go seek behind the counter… idk. After standing around for five-minutes, we walk out, so did the guy and so did the two ladies. No bueno… especially during the lunch hour when people are watching the the clock. I’m not feeling this place anymore… but, I’ll try one more time.

I’ve been a big fan of red chili bc the one on mission is so delicious! This location is very nicely decorated, has a huge stage for live music, very spacious & even better than the mission location. The staff is friendly and always takes care of our needs and made sure we didn’t need anything. Panang curry is my favorite along with roti canai. I recommend 100%. Go go go!

I came here with my mom for lunch on a Sunday. As soon as we walked in, I noticed a host table with no one behind it.lol. Behind the table was a huge wall blocking the restaurant, so none of the workers can really tell if customers are waiting. I decided to walk past the wall so I can see the rest of the restaurant. I saw a huge stage in the middle. There was a huge party with 40 people on one side. The other side had a few customers. We had to wait there for a while before we finally saw a waitress rushing out of the kitchen. She smiled at us and seated us immediately. I think it is a bit pointless to have a huge table and a wall if no one is going to be there. lol(minus one star for that). As soon as we got seated, we were given menus. The menu was only in English and there were some helpful pictures. Red Chili serves both Vietnamese and Thai dishes, which is a weird combination.lol. My mom and I decided to order the BBQ pork with egg roll on vercemilli noodles. I read about the slow service on Unilocal,so we also ordered the papaya salad as an appetizer. While we were waiting for our dishes, I noticed the table was very sticky! I had placed my purse on the table, and it had sticky smudges because of fish sauce left from the previous customer.yuck. The tables don’t have any mats or table cloths, too. I didn’t like how my purse, hand, and some of my clothes got sticky.(minus one star) I think the workers should really wipe down the tables if fish sauce is commonly used in the dishes.lol. We had to wait about 10 minutes before the papaya salad came out. I thought it ok, since it was super salty and it was drenched with a lot of dressing. It was both salty and a bit tangy. After 10 more minutes, our entrees came out. The bbq pork with egg roll dish was served in a huge round bowl. There was some veggies, basil, bean sprouts, and vercemilli in the bowl. The fish sauce was in a smaller bowl. I thought everything mixed together with the fish sauce was good. I didn’t like how the bbq pork was really fatty though.(minus one star) The egg roll was delicious. Overall, Red Chili serves ok food at a reasonable price. Even though this place looks clean, I was surprised that the tables are sticky.lol. The service was ok, too. I noticed only 3 workers for the whole place, and some were walking really fast to get around. I’d rather go to ‘La Sen’ in Fremont for better food and service!

I’ve been here twice now. The food is great! So much flavor. I stopped by today for lunch and had their green curry with pork lunch special. Excellent! This location has changed ownership numerous times. Every business that opens here seems to fail. The first time I came to this place it seemed like a slow day. Today though, the place was crowded. That’s a good sign! The service was a bit slow, so no 5 stars. The servers were running around quickly to serve the customers, but the food came out pretty slow. I will definitely be back, but not if I’m in a rush!

Alright. So I read everyone else’s feedback here. Thank you all btw. I went there for lunch today. The food was good. The ambience was good. Great place for lunch. I didn’t have any noodle dish thanks to some of the opions here. So that helped me choose. However, here’s the short coming. Everyone was spot on regarding the service. From the looks of it, it’s because they have about 3 – 4 waitstaff working a room of about 50 – 60 seats. I’m no restauranteur but that ratio certainly doesn’t sound correct. We waited like 20 minutes before we got our bill. We waited to get our waters refilled. You get the drift. I don’t think the mis-attentiveness was due to lack of interest. I think it was do to poor planning. And the Roti Canai rocks!

Really should be 3.5 stars, but i’m feeling a bit generous today. A friend and I shared the pumpkin curry and bbq pork. The curry was a fairly large portion and was absolutely delicious with slices of pumpkin, chicken, shrimp and some basil. it definitely stood out compared to other curries i’ve had. the bbq pork was not too dry and not too salty. the service was really fast, but after they dropped our dishes off, we never saw a waiter again. i really needed a refill of water but couldn’t flag a waiter down at all. they are definitely understaffed there! business appears to be good — hire more staff and gimme my water! still giving them 4 stars. their food is legit.

This space has changed hands a lot in the past few years so I was a little apprehensive about trying it out. Fortunately, I was peasantly surprised to find it to be my new favorite place. The pumkin curry is calling to me five days since my last dining experience here.

Good place to go if one person wants vietnamese but another wants thai. OK food. I liked the roti appetizer. The pad kee mow, not so much. The noodles were too mushy and it was greasy. On the plus side, when I asked for extra spicy they really made it super spicy.

I came to try it because it was new. They have a combination of Thai and Vietnamese food. I ordered a seafood noodle soup and I thought it was just okay. I was not disappointed or anything, but it was just okay. I will have to try to Thai part of it and then rate it again. But as far as the noodle soup goes. It was okay. The inside is pretty big and nice, and it is pretty. They also have an nice looking bar as well. Waitresses don’t really check up on you that much. So when your glass is empty you have to go and find them to fill up your glass. It was not a bad experience just an okay place to go. But I will write a new review once I try the Thai part. Maybe the Thai part is better.

I expected more. The Red Chili in Hayward is worth its five stars, so since my boyfriend lives in Newark, we figured to try this location. I was disappointed. Complaints: — bit more expensive(a few cents which I wouldn’t mind if the service was good) — service just sucks, they seem confused about the whole concept of serving food/drinks. there was only one girl taking orders while another busied herself filling glasses of water when there’s customers obviously trying to get her attention. — speaking of orders, everything came half-ass. i wasn’t given the usual water w/lime, the thai tea glass wasn’t even full, there weren’t spoons or spices on the table, my rice for my green curry was missing and so was the bowl of broth for the rice plates and my boyfriend’s food wasn’t bbq-ed, it was mostly burnt. I’m generally unhappy with the quality of the place. The food still tasted good, but thats it. There were even wires galore sticking out of the wall, FIREHAZARD anyone?! Ugh come on. let’s step up.

The Verdict: «Pretty good food, but the service is lacking.» I been here three times and decided that while the food is pretty good, the service needs much improvement. I’m hoping this review will inspire them to make improvements. The waiters miss the details — water glasses are not filled enough, food usually takes a while before it’s ready(both to-go and dine in), and soup is not served properly. I recently ordered a Thai som tum soup with two other friends and when the waiter brought over the soup, he announced the dish’s name, plopped it on the table along with the bowls and walked away. I had expected him to get busy on the ladle and serve it to us… but to no avail. I would have given this place 3 stars but due to the service, I took a star off. I do recommend the pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, Vietnamese egg rolls. The pad Thai is tasty and has just the right amount of chicken and dried shrimp. The Vietnamese egg rolls are tasty and crispy. The BBQ chicken however is a little dry and overcooked. Dishes are moderately priced and a little on the higher side for restaurants in Newark/Fremont, where you can find a lot of good eating deals. The décor is pretty interesting with a purple-jungle-tropical look and it looks like they might have live music(however, I haven’t heard of any promotions). Would I Recommend it? If they improve their service, I may consider going back.

We went for the Grand Opening Celebration they had on Tues 10÷6÷09 from 5−7pm. Oh, It was SWEET. They had Thai musicians &2 lovely Thai dancers that did two dances, one was a Thai blessing dance. It was very calm & beautiful to watch. The Newark Chamber of Commerce was there to meet & greet. They had a red ribbon cutting outside and the Newark Mayor David Smith was there. Owner Sonny & Lulu were so nice & friendly. They own the original Red Chili in Hayward. They served up a FREE buffet dinner for all of us. They have a bar & dance floor. Nice roomy, spacious dining area. Dishes I tried: roti canai w/curry sauce bbq chicken mango chicken curry pumpkin curry pad thai brown rice steam white rice papaya salad fresh cut up fruit: pineapple(cut heart shaped), watermelon(cut heart shaped), grapes, strawberries. FREE Thai iced tea Everything tasted really good. We’ll be back soon to support this local restaurant. Separate bathrooms in the back Right side. Location: Stevenson(@ Albrae) — on the corner across from the Hilton.

Red Chili in Hayward has been one of my favorite restaurants for a couple years now. I’ve eaten there countless times in the past 3 years and the food has been consistent. I’ve always been satisfied with every dish I’ve ordered on the menu especially the pumpkin curry, honeydew smoothie, pad see ew, and phở. Even my phở-snob boyfriend likes the phở here! It’s cool how they focus on two separate cuisines but still succeed at making both equally good. I’m not a fan of this location because it’s just so barren in the area. Empty area + big restaurant = failure. But hey, you never know. The restaurant is much bigger(used to be a Sizzler many eons ago according to my friends), the décor is quite stylish, and there is even a full size bar and stage. The menu looks almost the same as the Hayward location’s plus some dishes and minus the smoothies and variety of phở(they only have rare steak + beef balls available here). We ended up ordering cube steak, pumpkin curry, pad see ew, and the fusion combo appetizer(calamari, chicken satay, crispy egg rolls, spring rolls). Presentation for the fusion combo was excellent. Not only are they generous with the servings but this comes with three different sauces! Everything else was just plain good. The meats were all tender and the flavors were good. The biggest surprise was how DEEP the dish was for the pumpkin curry… definitely bang for the buck. I do totally agree with Nino R. that the servers aren’t proactive. After we got all our food and waters filled, there was no sign of them from then on. We had to find someone, anyone(since our server was nowhere to be found) to pack up our leftovers and to get us our bill. Other than that, a very satisfactory experience and I hope the crowd starts making its way here!

Newly opened Red Chilies is a 3.5 star. 4 star for the spacious, nicely decorated ambiance. The panag thai curry was good with a good portion size. The Korean bbq(pork) was delicious. The salmon was a bit dry but if eat with a sweet and spicy sauce its good. I think I enjoyed the desert the best. The sweet sticky rice was not too sweet and went very well with the mango ice cream. 4 stars for the service. Very friendly waiters who are always around. They were also very receptive to feedback(especially since this location just opened). I would definitely go back to try out some more dishes. Reasonably priced.
