=== Your wait time is: 30 minutes. === This is something I wish we had been told, prior to nonchalantly placing our order for a basic pork torta. Half an hour’s time is something you’d expect from customer service, when you’re calling in to cancel your cable subscription, but not a food truck, am I correct? I don’t know about you, but I’ve always thought that a food truck equates to lightning-fast grub on wheels. With that said, you’d require more than the mere patience of the Dalai Lama, if deciding to give Taquería Auténtica Food Truck a whirl. To worsen matters further for us two customers growing increasingly impatient as each were hungry, they exchanged worrisome looks when having spotted the cook on board, failing to remove his gloves while handling the money, along with all else. Just imagine what has touched your taco shells in the process.(Sir, if you would kindly check the paper slip on which you had so hastily scribbled upon, I did not order a side of food poisoning.) What baffled us, was that the tortas were simply sitting there after they were done cooking on the grill. It was only when the cook caught us eyeing him like a hawk, that he finally decided to wrap it up. Cut to five minutes later, we were handed our food, the aluminum foil covered with smudges of guacamole, as though a child had decided to do some last minute finger-painting on it. Thank you, and have a messy day. The other Unilocalers here are precisely correct, when they say that the operator is disorganized and unable to find anything within his grasp. Perhaps he could pay a much needed visit to IKEA to attain nifty ideas for tidying up? Not only is their service in need of desperate improvement, but the system by which orders are handled, needs a complete restructuring. If they wish to build a loyal base of customers, they need to forget everything they’ve ever learned and start again from scratch. As for the pork torta itself, the sandwich was nothing so remotely divine that I’d risk acquiring sunburn on a hot summer day. ¡Sí Señor! Taquería, as it turns out, was not«Auténtica» enough for this chica.

I’ve been to plenty if food trucks and I’ve waited for a pretty long time, but I have never in my whole life had to stand their for a whole 2 hours!!!’. To be fair there was a long line but you figured they would be good at their job. Taqueria Autentica doesn’t earn to have a food truck let alone a restaurant. I wouldn’t even bother looking at this food truck. If you were to take a pile of shit and call that food it would still be 100x better than the garbage they produce. Rating: –5 stars I have never Waited for food from a truck this long and when I did the food was actually worth it.

One word: Lacking. I ate at the restaurant for restaurant week, and the carnitas in the sauce was awesome. I was craving it again so I had the carnitas tacos when I saw the food truck. I gave it 3 stars, because it was a solid average. Coming from Texas, I’ve eaten from many food trucks and Mexican restaurants. Meat was cooked alright slightly too dry, but flavor and salsa verde just didn’t do it for me. I was disappointed:( I do recommend trying the restaurant if you get the chance though.

I’m giving another star. Stopped by today. Food is consistently good. Love their Zucchini taco. Very tasty. Husband really liked the Carne Asada. Taco portions are not huge but that is OK by me.

Over priced and very bland! Don’t waste your money. I have to say I was really excited when I saw the truck(big fan of truck food) and was told by a good friend the food was good but the taco was very small and the guac was lack luster. Felt like I could have gotten a lot more for my $ 10 at Dario’s a few blocks away. Only down side to Dario’s is that they are always busy and seem very unorganized but the food is excellent.

The problem with this food truck is not the food itself. But the attitude of the guy who runs it. Absolutely crazy guy. So this truck is essentially run by an old guy and an young guy, probably his son. The kid is nice and cool but his dad has a really bad temper and absolutely no etiquette. Also I ordered a taco with mexican crema on it. He doesn’t find the cream, searches for it for like 30 seconds and starts packing my tacos without it. And all the while thinking I wouldn’t notice. And when I asked for it he simple says ’ I dont have it today’. Also the tacos are way over prices and the meat very dry. I probably wouldn’t go there again. But these days I see 3 kids running the truck. So, you might have a better experience!

Working in Newark used to pose some lunch problems. Options were limited and not that great. Then came the Taqueria Autentica taco truck — typically parked on Mulberry Street next to the TD Bank. Since then, lunch has been something to look forward to, even crave. I used to frequent the Taqueria Downtown in JC regularly. The Taqueria Autentica tacos are on par, no need to make the Path trip now. Flavorful, moist, and served with the proper corn tortilla. But its the Taqueria Autentica torta«Mexican style sandwich» that steals the show. Simply put, the chicken torta is great. A near perfect combination of meat, black beans, avocado, pico de gallo, jalapeños, and cheese, served on some delicious toasted Mexican bread. Basically, everything you love about Mexican food in one tasty little package and its made my very short list of greatest sandwiches of all time.

I have visited this truck at the Summit Farmer’s Market. It’s a home run. My 12 year old daughter begs me to take her over on Sun mornings in the fall for the breakfast taco. The tacos are made after you order them so sometimes you have to wait a little bit, but it’s worth it. Agree that the key is the quality of the meat. It’s excellent. Don’t think $ 5.25 for two tacos is bad at all though for great food. Best of the food trucks I have tried, including a number in Manhattan.

I’ve been trying to stay away from junk food for lunch, but with the options in Newark(or lack thereof), that pretty much means I’ve been eating nothing but Subway sandwiches and Café Aerlie salads for the past month or so. So when I crossed Mulberry St. on the way to work, my interest was piqued by the Taqueria Autentica truck. The food is prepared to order, which I love, and the list of ingredients is beautifully simple. I ordered a carne asada taco and a carnitas taco, along with a side of guacamole. It was a bit pricier than I’d usually pay for tacos, but I was willing to part with the cash for a fresh taste and the healthier, fresher preparation. First of all, the portions seem smaller on first glance, as the tacos are wrapped up tight and placed in a small take-out container. But once I got to my office and threw aside the wrapper, the taco unfolded and revealed a satisfying portion of steak and pork in each of the tacos. The steak was cooked perfectly. And I hadn’t eaten red meat in a while, so the first bite of that steak was … mmmmmm … inducing. A spritz of lime, a generous dollop of the salsa verde, and some guacamole(with a little spicy kick) on top of the steak and pork, and I had myself a delicious, filling lunch. Steak was my favorite, obviously. But I think I’ll go back to try to the chicken. And the mexican pudding looked quiiiiiiiite intriguing. They have a lunch special(three tacos, $ 7.75) and several sides you can order. I believe the full menu is posted on their facebook page.

Wow… Pretty damn good I have to say. I can’t really think of another mexican taco I had around NJ that reminded of these flavors and textures but that might just mean I have to go out more. I ordered the chorizo, chicken and steak taco… All very flavorful, and prepared on the spot! That means fresh flavors for the price of patience. If you see a long line, you’ll need a lot of patience but I think it was worth the wait. The tacos averaged at $ 3.25 a piece but they throw in a whole lot of meat I’d say. The steak taco was probably my favorite out of the three. It was cooked somewhat medium and rubbed with their special mix of blended spices. It wasn’t overcooked or over seasoned and tasted just right. 3.75÷5 The chorizo taco was the special of the day and tasted pretty good. I squeezed out all the lime I had on it. 3.5÷5 The chicken taco was good, flavorful and seasoned well. That rub they use definitely does the trick. 3.5÷5 I actually ran into this truck in the Montclair Farmers Market and saw that they frequently stop around Newark. Either way, I’ll probably give this place another go around for their quesadillas and that chocolate pudding that sounded pretty good. Also, they sell their special blend of spices in a small or large tin but I forgot the amount. Last time I was there, they can be found in Newark Mondays — Fridays and at the Montclair Farmers Market on Sundays. I forget where they go to on Saturdays but you can always check their website for the info. I would probably visit them when they’re at the Farmers Market since you get to eat and buy some quality food at the same time.

A taco truck in downtown Newark — who would have guessed? Only been once, but the steak was tender and delicious, and the green stuff(ok — salsa verde) was nice. Three for $ 10 was a little high for lunch, but the quality of food made it a good value. The line moves ok but they are known to run out of food earlier than you would expect, so get an early start!

Tacos are delish but I would love some Cholula Hot Sauce to go on them! The pudding is out of this world perfection if you are into the chocolate spicy combo. I had the Veggie Tacos and the Carnitas tacos. I have to say the Veggie win. Something about that Poblano but then again if i had some Cholula it might be a different outcome. Not everyone is a fan of Chipotle hot sauce but 10 starts for trying to make it your own!

A new taco truck on the scene in Newark! Taqueria Authentica is a food truck that set up shop a week or 2 ago across from the everlasting and sprawling gateway center. They serve Taco’s and quesadillas on corn tortillas made the Mexican way(onions, tomatillo’s, lime). Its new so Im lenient. The tacos themselves have the correct idea a corn tortilla, fresh ingriedients, direct from grill to plate. Now this is all well and grand in concept… but there are several issues I would like to bring up. 1) the pork was a little dry. It seemed they were using tenderloin… Personally I prefer the pork butt… I also like it shredded and marinated tenderloin tends to run a little dry. 2) the onion cilantro lime tomatillo salsa needs more punch. Either it needs more lime OR more tomatillo or more jalepeno(if there is any) Needs something to kick it up a notch so it compliments the food not just is part of the food 3) the tortilla… Leave it on the grill longer needs to be a softer corn tortilla so it doesn’t have such a corny grain. If I wanted a corny grain I would tell some jokes… bah zing. Besides these 3 small points I am glad to have a taco joint near my job my waistline was getting too thin and my pocket too heavy… Overall this place is tasty and over time will only improve as it just started out a week ago.
