WPW Drum Lessons and Performance

My 10 year old son has been taking classes from William since September of 2015. In the last ~10 months I see he has improved a lot on the fundamentals. William is very professional and very patient with his students, sticks to the time and doesn’t waste any time during the lesson. He makes sure the student is picking up the right skills and paces/​structures the lesson accordingly. There is no point moving on to the next subject without getting the current one right: is his philosophy.
Most importantly my kid is always looking forward to the next lesson, which shows how kid friendly he is, and to me that is the most important thing because I don’t want my kid to give up the hobby/​interest because of not having the right tutor. The rest is all on how much you practice, which any teacher can’t do much about.
I am a self taught drummer myself, and wish I had the time and money to learn from someone like William early on. Every beginner should get a good teacher at least to make sure they are not building up bad habits on playing the instruments.

I’ve been taking lessons from William for almost 3 years and not only has my playing improved beyond a level I never thought possible but my ability to read music has as well. If your not learning to read music then your time is being wasted. That is a skill that will give you the confidence you need to get to the next level. His lessons are beautifully laid out with an emphasis on snare drum standards. As we know the magic happens on the snare. He s taught me how to play rock, reggae, blues, jazz, Latin samba etc… Williams a very enthusiastic teacher who’s great with young children as well. He has a true passion for teaching and from what I’ve seen and heard throughout the years his students have made steady and noticeable improvements. I would highly recommend William for the advanced to advanced expert as well. I’ve seen him perform many times over the years and he is a true professional.

As a professional musician in the Bay Area, I needed to be able to expand my current skills as well as be introduced to new concepts! Wiliam has not only been able to expand my musical knowledge through his teachings, I have also been able to apply my new skills to my profession. He has introduced me to only the beginning of the rest of my career. William has been able to make me aware of better techniques and has shown me how to apply them. I am very happy and pleased with every lesson! Thank you Teacher!

I have been learning Drum from William for last 3 months. And I would like to say that within these 3 months I can feel the improvement in my hand techniques and foot techniques. I was not a newbie when I met William. He is very particular when showing me the techniques. And I believe that technique is something that needs to be verified periodically otherwise it can cause disaster. Every class is composed of 2 sections, first is techniques and rudiments. The second half is drum session — here he is strengthening on timing and synchronization.
I think William knows what is your requirement and finds out the way to reach your goal without any compromise on basics of drumming.
In addition, he is good person, easy going and nice to talk about anything
You should consider talking with him first when you are planning for drumming.

If you want to learn how to play drums, then you can’t do better than learning from William. My 7 year old daughter looks forward to her classes every week. He is super patient with her and makes the classes fun and interesting. He moves at her pace– whether it needs to be faster or slower and that makes a huge difference in how fast/​well she learns.
I would recommend him to anyone who wants to learn how to play the drums correctly.
