Great museum if you like anything nautical.
The building itself is a piece of history. Backs up to a beautiful boardwalk.

Art the docent was extremely knowledgeable about Newburyport and the history of the area. The museum had a nice collection and the building itself was interesting. This museum is affiliated with the Essex National Heritage area and you can get your National Parks passport stamped at the gift shop.

Boston, MA
This was an surprise delight. This old concrete customs house in Newburyport was filled with interesting Ship models, random historical artifacts, and surprisingly good arguments that the Coast Guard was initiated right there on the North Shore (visit and see for yourself!). Friendly staff, a lot of cool stuff, and a public restoom makes this a cool idea for a visit if you’re in town.
