Dr. Fondren had been my doctor and my wife’s doctor from 2002 to 2012. We were among his very first patients. He was an excellent physician, and he brought us safely through many medical issues. I had and still have significant medical conditions and take several prescription medications which require ongoing supervision. We had no disputes or complaints of any kind with him. In early 2012 he notified us that he decided to modify his practice to a concierge-only practice. This would have required us to pay him out of pocket $ 3,500 per year in non-insurance-reimbursable fees to continue with him. Although this was a significant and unplanned cost to us, we valued our doctor-patient relationship with Dr. Fondren, and we discussed payment arrangements with him and advised him we wished to continue with him. Since neither my wife nor I were ill or in need of acute or immediate treatment at the time, we delayed return of the written agreement and payment, not realizing or believing any sense of urgency or loss of his services. Although he stated previously that it had been his pleasure being our doctor, we were shocked when I called for an appointment in June 2012, and I was informed that his practice was now full, and that we could no longer schedule an appointment with him! I stated that we were long-established patients, and requested an explanation and reconsideration, but received neither. No waiting list was offered to us. The physician to whom he referred us was totally unacceptable, and we are still struggling to establish ourselves with another suitable doctor to monitor our health issues. We are still at a complete loss to understand why Dr. Fondren no longer wished to see us, his long established patients. His decision completely destroyed our ten-year relationship of trust and confidence. The manner in which we were treated was totally unacceptable, and we feel that we were summarily«dumped» without so much as a second thought. This is no way for a trusted doctor to treat his patients. Accordingly, we are unable to recommend Dr. Fondren to anyone.

Dr. Fondren is an excellent doctor. I have been taking my 94 year old grandmother to him for years, as I did with my 92 year old grandfather before he passed away. I have never known such a compassionate doctor, who cares so deeply for the well-being of his patients are their loved ones. His nurse practitioner holds the same wonderful qualities. Dr. Fondren is not one of those doctors who barely gives you eye contact and walks out before you know what happened. He sits down and talks with his patients, leaves time for questions and is happy to thoughtfully answer them. I have had my fair share of doctors and Dr. Fondren and his team are truly a blessing. He also has a beautiful office with coffee, tea, and water for his patients. The front desk staff is very friendly and make me feel comfortable whenever I call or come in. Dr. Fondren is by far the best doctor I have ever been to, and I hope other people looking for a great doctor will remember this review when considering the best treatment for themselves, or their loved ones.
