Horrible company, wasted my time and sent me a text saying they were not showing up and wouldn’t be able to do the job. Meanwhile I still have a 2 yr old that is running around without a pool fence to protect him. I heard Mike Saber was a shady person but never thought he’d put a kids life endanger.

Hi, I want to state that Mr Saber NEVER returned my deposit. I have the cashed checks as proof. Second, if you hire a professional to install a pool fence, it should pass city inspection so they can issue a «certificate of occupancy.» Mike Saber is the anti-professional; he takes your money, and does not provide his contracted service. I had to repeatedly call and harass him like Jordan did on Kukoc in the 1992 Summer Olympics. Don’t believe the hype. BTW: he is now using a different name to fool Unilocalers: «Safeguard Architectural Glass and Mesh Pool Fence.»

STAYAWAY!!! If I could give fewer stars I would!!! We hired this company for a gate reinstallation since their pricing was competitve and they could get the job done on time. I met with the installer and told him roughly where the fence was before and he said he could figure it out. When I got home the fence was installed so poorly my kids(ages 2 and 5) could push it down, there was no tension in the gate. The problem was that this company just drilled holes into our brand new concrete slab that cost us $ 14,000. When we called Mike to tell him how unhappy we were with the install he was very defensive and did not want to admit that his installer made a mistake. When he came out to reinstall the gate he spent most of his time trying to tell me how poorly my gate was made and deflect any responsibility. He is also VERYRUDE towards women. He continually cut me off in mid sentence and was very rude towards the end of our conversation. When I called another company to get them to fix what he did, he damaged our gate so badly we lost our lifetime warranty!!! I wish i never hired this lousy company. You get what you pay for!

Mike did a great job installing our glass railings at our house. His price was incredibly competitive, the quality of work was fantastic and he went out of his way to work with some unique issues we had. I’ve posted some pictures of our balcony

I purchased a pool fence from these guys and had them do the installation. They install Baby Guard pool brand fences. They operate under the Baby Guard name as well. I worked with the owner directly on choosing the type of fence and coordinating installation. Long story short, I needed to get the fence done in a hurry to pass a state inspection. The owner assures me they are licensed contractors and have insurance. After they did the work, the fence looked horrible. Actually, this is an understatement. The poles were crooked. Some poles bowed. It was visually horrible. My kids could easily pry the gate open and get in. The poles also lifted out of the sleeves easily, even while the fence was latched together. My kids could pull the fence out of the ground and go under it. After 3 trips out to my house, the owner stops calling me back. The fence still looks bad and I think it is unsafe. I finally called the fence manufacturer and got them involved. They were able to get these guys to come back a third time, though this trip they damaged/cracked my concrete. The owner called me and yelled at me on the phone. He said I was being picky. He said that there was nothing wrong with the fence and it would pass inspection. After their third visit to fix this, I had inspection. The fence failed inspection immediately. The inspector wrote up a report detailing that the fence and gate were wobbly and unsafe. The inspector also said this was«one of the worst fences» she had seen. My insurance agent also refused to write a policy for me until the fence was made safe. The manufacturer got involved again and this time got a different dealer to come out. The guy worked about 6 hours re-doing everything. In the end, it passed inspection. Several months later, the fence began falling apart. I tried and found that the mesh was easily pulling away from the poles in 4 different areas. My kids and dogs could(and did) go into the pool area at will. I contacted the contractors licensing board for the state of California. The license number the owner gave me was not a valid number. They had no record of the owner or the company being licensed or insured. I was able to pursue this further and the state did take action. I was so frustrated with the ordeal I even made and posted a youtube video about it. In the end, I was left with a broken pool fence and damaged concrete and I was out the money I paid these guys. I called the manufacturer based in Florida, who warranties the product, but they did not answer my requests for help. In the end, I had to have the fence replaced entirely. If you are looking for a pool fence, be sure to hire a licensed and insured contractor and verify the license number on the CSLB website BEFORE you sign anything or ask for work to start. The fence is intended to save lives so be sure and do your homework and weigh your options.

It’s unfortunate that another Unilocaler had such a bad experience with Baby Guard. It’s also surprising. I’m not writing a review to discredit or diminish the experience of another Unilocaler. That is his unfortunate experience and I hope they can come to a resolution. However, I think it’s important to also share a positive experience with Mike and the Baby Guard company. I used Baby Guard in November 2008, which is when I moved into my new home. Installing a pool fence was my #1 priority, so Baby Guard was the first vendor I used. I probably should have Unilocaled them earlier but considering I had about a dozen vendors working at once I didn’t get around to Unilocaling even half of them. After getting a few bids from local pool fence companies, I decided to go with Baby Guard based on positive feedback from friends and their customer service. They also saved me a little money compared to other bids, but not enough to completely base my decision on that alone. Mike S, the owner and sales rep, was very courteous. He worked around our schedule and was very helpful. The installer was very friendly and efficient. The quality of his workmanship was great. The fence is very durable, but can also be easily removed. We’ve had the pool fence for nearly 9 months now and it has been working beautifully, as it should. When we first installed the fence, my son was just starting to walk. Now he is running around like crazy and especially loves to run directly into the pool fence and press the entire weight of his body against it. Scary! But the fence withstands all of that pressure without any problem. With or without small children, I think anyone with a pool should install a removable pool fence. I highly recommend Baby Guard and would use their service again in a minute.
