Probably the best chili I’ve ever had. He had just made it and it was out of this world.

I used to eat here often and the chicken Greek salad was amazing! Sadly, the Greek chicken salads are just a shell of what they used to be. Not only has the price raised but the quality has dropped. I ordered the usual salad today and as we waited I heard the cook behind the counter curse loudly. The overworked waitress was running around trying to do everything. Customers were getting angry as they had long waits for their food. I watched the waitress prepare the salad(before the cook adds the chicken) and she used her bare hands that she previously handled money with, to place onions and olives on my salad. When my salads were ready they had over cooked chicken, barely any feta and limp lettuce. They not longer included crackers either. For the money and the service, I’d skip Grandstands. The staff is never the same, they’re overworked and grumpy. I miss when they had delicious food that they cared about. I won’t return again and will no longer recommend them. Such a shame.

This used to be THESPOT to get a chicken greek salad. And don’t get me wrong there still okay. But NOTHING like they used to be. Started going there about 5 – 6 years ago and always got the Chicken Greek Salad. It was actually their #1 selling item at that time and it was about 6 – 7 dollars. Got one last after not having had one for a while because last time I got one it just didn’t seem as good as before. Unlike in the past the veggies def not fresh and some of my lettuce was turning brown. The chicken on top is still great but the salad itself was struggling and to boot the price has be raised considerably at $ 13.00. Love the atmosphere. Staff as friendly as can be… Truly a Mom & Pop kind of place. Love to support the local businesses!

So we just arrived in Newport News and we were looking for lunch so we checked to see what was close by. This place was in the strip mall right near the hotel so we gave it a try. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with fries an my son had hot wings with fries both were good. The restaurant could use some work it has a diner feel but sports memorabilia on he wall? It was very busy and the orders were done pretty quickly which was impressive because only one guy was cooking. Not a five star but worth a try.

I got the gyro and it was really good @6.50 $. The restaurant itself was ok. The staff seemed friendly, but I really do that much talking to them. But if you like the mom and pop places you’ll like it! I will be going back.

I had a cheese steak and my boyfriend had the double cheese burger. Both came with fries. Only one cook and one waitress so it took longer than expected to get our food. Prices were fair for the food. Would have given it a higher rating had we gotten our food faster.

The closet I was able to find to a Greek restaurant near home. Seems authentic which is good but you can’t never hide the fact it’s Americanized. I’d come here more often but other foods are still on top. Good place without a doubt.

Great, as always!!! Grilled chicken sandwich was on point!!! Service is quick and they’re quick to recognize regulars… Even if you don’t come extremely often. I’ve even got my husband hooked.

Go for the chicken Greek salad! Delicious! This is a huge salad and very tasty. This is a surprising hole in the wall. Folks are very friendly. Lunch is always busy so be prepared. They do great carry out and are right on time!

First time here for lunch today, thanks to an old customer from across the water. Really, really good chicken a la Greek. I have to tell you, this is def not traditionally prepared, Greek food because everything that is slapped on the grill is basically frozen. I sat there and watched frozen Philly cheese steak beef being prepared right before my eyes. The guy next to me had the sandwich, however, and said it was really good. This place has been around for a while for a reason. Pretty much a casual grill with a few Americanized Greek items on the menu. By the way, the ambiance is a busy one during lunch time, so don’t expect to get very personal service unless you sit at the bar top for frequent refills. They’re focused on working on the food and getting the customers in and out the door.

Basically this is just a greasy spoon diner with a few vaguely Greek menu items in addition to standards like burgers and fries and Philly cheese steaks. I don’t see a rotisserie so I assume the«gyro» meat is the prepackaged slices from SYSCO foods, but dunno. Chicken a la Greek on pita was pretty good, but simple: just lettuce, tomato, onions, grilled chicken, tsaZiki, vinegar and oil, not much else on a slice of pita also evidently purchased from elsewhere. but it is a friendly, inexpensive sort of diner, ok for what it is

So where I come from every diner is a greek diner, you get good quality greek and diner food and usually an old greek lady taking your money. This is the closest thing that Hampton Roads has to a greek diner. I frequently see cops, firefighters and priests in this place, and in case you didn’t know, those are three groups of people that know good food. I always have either the chicken gyro with feta(which they are not skimpy with) or the chicken greek salad. Both are delicious. They season the living hell out of their chicken on a flat-top and I think thats what makes both of these dishes unmissable. Their tzatziki sauce(180 point scrabble word) is the best around, bring a mint, you will need it. On my worse days I’ve had both their burgers and their phillies. You cannot go wrong with anything on this menu — I swear.

This place bills itself as a Greek restaurant… It is not. It s just a neighborhood grill that serves a mediocre gyro. Pre-sliced meat heated on the grill served on good flat-bread with their own interpretation of tzatziki sauce, which was heavy with garlic. The owner is a pretty interesting guy and great for conversation but I wanted some real food.

Best Chicken Greek Salad Ever!!! Be sure and add extra chicken and dressing on the side. Gyro’s are Great as well. Variety of food choices and sides. Cheesesteak is not the best in the area but still good.(cash only)

I’ve always heard great reviews about this place. And let me tell you, everyone was right! You’d probably never think to stop in at this place, its just a little shop in a strip mall that most people pay no attention to. Like I said, the place is small, so it gets packed quick! And if you’re thinking about stopping in during the week during the lunch hour, make sure you call ahead with your order! Otherwise you could be waiting a while to get a table or a seat at the counter. I’ve found that Saturday afternoons are the least busy time to grab some great food. Portions are huge, prices are low and the service is great! Grandstands is known for their Chicken Greek Salad(I haven’t yet tried, but heard its amazing!). Their Phillys are awesome, as well as their Gyros. Definitely worth checking out. But remember, to bring cash!!! No credit accepted here and if you forget, there is a Food Lion in the same strip mall with a working ATM. **according to their website, they are accepting credit cards now!
