Schlotzsky’s

Let’s begin with service. Terrible service. The lady who took out order barely communicated the basic interaction when ordering food. Then the lady got yelled at in front of customers for not understanding a ticket. The lady started cussing while taking our order. I noticed that the employed use the SAME pair of gloves to take orders, assemble food, deliver food and clean up tables– absolutely disgusting to say the least and a food hazard. When the sandwich was ready to be delivered to the table it was slammed in the table causing the sandwich to fall apart. When we started eating, we noticed we didn’t get any substantial meat. We instead got more of the skin of the deli meat then actual meat itself. The bread was also falling apart causing the whole sandwich to crumble apart and unassembled when eaten. Overall, me and my family were excited to try this place out since we recently moved and we decided not only to never come here but to let everyone we know how terrible the service was, unclean handling of food and how the food was just gross.

I love there sandwiches and there services. They are usually on point. So why not 5 stars well on October 22, 2015 my brother, my daughter and myself went to go and pick up some sandwichs. We sat in the drive thru by the menu for about 2 minutes (strange)then a lady come on and we began to give our order but she kept cutting over us like she was trying to rush us and then told us to go to the window. Once we got to the window we were ignored by the dark haired older lady for around four minutes. Very rude. When she did come to the window she did not apologize for the wait, then told us she could not hear us and then took our order. We waited by the window for 10 to 12 minutes for our food. Really! Our food was still good however I can’t see myself going thru this every time I want one of their wonderfully crafted sandwiches. I highly suggest you retrain or give her a manual about how to be courteous to customers so that she can work on her customer service skills. With all that being said I will return and if I run into her again hopefully she is a lot better.

I love this schlotsky’s! I am not a huge fan of sandwiches normally, but here they are pretty good. More importantly, I love the staff! They always recognize me when I come in and are so friendly! I’ve never waited long for my food and it is always delicious. I am not a huge of the prices, but I understand that the staff doesn’t control this and I enjoy the food so I don’t mind. I will definitely be coming back here.

Went here with my family for dinner in a Sunday. Not like I remember. When I lived in North Carolina, my wife and i used to go to Schlotzky’s all the time. The sandwiches were good and the bread was unique because the way it was made. We loved Schlotzky’s. I have been to the one in downtown Norfolk and that one isn’t bad either.
But this one sucks! First, there were only three staff working. One at the register and two in the back. This place has a drive up but I don’t know who was doing what job. Looked like everyone was doing a little bit of everything. Also, they were not in any type of uniform or restaurant t shirt. They were just wearing whatever they wanted. The guy had facial hair and his hair looked a mess, but no hair/​beard net.
The walls, ceilings, floors, and countertops all needed repairs. The walls and the vents in the kitchen were all dingy and brown. The rug in front of the soda fountains were worn and needed replaced. Looks like this place was built in 1990 and no maintenance has been kept
The food was not very good. I used to love getting the critics to munch on, but they were stale. The chips were not good. The salt and vinegar were overpowering. Their chips used to be very good
The sandwiches weren’t any better. The edges of the bread was very hard, almost burnt like. My daughter’s chicken Caesar wrap was not good either. The wrap was hard and crusty and the lettuce was wilted.
Schlotzky’s is so much better than what this place represents. I highly recommend this place gets remodeled and reinforce standards in this particular establishment.

The food was great and the staff was really helpful and friendly BUT you pay more for less, not good. Wouldn’t think twice in returning if you got more for what you pay.

Nothing was in stock couldn’t even get a sandwich. Was not told until they tried to make us pay.

Sandwich was good. I paid right at $ 12 for a sandwich, chips, and a drink. The value just is not there. The chips taste like rebranded Lays but are missing something… Im not sure what. Restaurant was clean. Tea was good. Staff was nice. The place is missing something.

I’m glad Unilocal can spell it because I cannot. Always a good sandwich. Unique compared to other quick chains. LOVE those Jalapeño chips! A bit pricey for a sandwich meal though… Over nine bucks for a small original combo.

I wish I liked this place. So many times after church I was forced to eat here with my mother. After not having it for over 10 years I am still unimpressed as always. We paid $ 22 for two depressing meals. Two very depressing, sad, uneventful sandwiches. Sandwiches that fell apart, that were extremely dry… and disappointing. Newport News is in desperate need of a Jimmy John’s…

Just like all others. I always enjoy their pizza.

Had the veggie on sour dough, plenty for 2… Yummo…

This used to be my favorite place to eat, back in high school, and it’s as good as I remember it being. Now that it’s right around the corner, we visit it fairly regularly when we don’t feel like cooking.
A great alternative to those other fast food joints.
