A couple of friends of mine recommended«The Attic» and wanted me to check it out, so I did. It’s a smallish, tidy, and very well-stocked pagan shop tucked into the heart of the Hilton Village area of Newport News. I absolutely LOVED the vibe of this place! The beautiful aubergine walls lend an ambience of mystery and charm and the shop smells wonderful. Although I am a fan of Mystic Moon, I found The Magickal Attic to be more upscale(better quality products), and just as resourceful with prices more reasonable. In fact, I prefer it, and am very happy to find this store in my home town! There are lots of beautiful jeweled pieces in display cases, a wonderful array of crystals and stones, herbs galore, including incenses, smudge sticks, and oils. There are altar supplies, besoms, books, oracle cards, and even pagan themed décor for sale. There are even magickal supplies for your beloved fur babies. After speaking with the proprietor, I learned she offer’s a variety of classes and workshops and is continuously expanding the goods and services to meet the needs of the pagan community. Additionally, she has a resident herbalist, astrologer, and root-worker… and the owner herself is quite knowledgeable and was warm, welcoming, and happy to answer any questions I had. Yeah, I fell in love with this little shop… and you will too!

I was really surprised to learn a year or two ago that there was a nearby Pagan shop and was super excited to visit and see what goodies I could find. This shop is located in the quaint section of the Hilton area, which is surprsing considering all the churchy old folks that live here. So, I decided to take my sister who is Pagan here to see what we could find. I really was hoping for more but came in surely disappointed. I would have given it two stars like the lady who reviewed it before me because she is right on every aspect however, the additional star comes from the nice location and cute doggie the owner has. I’m not expert by any means but I’m a novice ehtuasist of occult things and their selection did not blow me away, unfortunately Mystic Moon in Norfolk is better. The Magikal Attic is small and when you come in you feel kinda uncomfortalbe like you shouldn’t be there because the lady at the counter kinda just peers up at you and say hello like you’re bothering here. Theres plenty of gems and stones as well as books with a handful of jewlery. Theres some other merchandise at the glass counter but its awkwards just staring at it when the lady is just sitting there. the prices are horrible if you really want to buy a gem or rock but you are probably better off ordering online quite honestly. Besides the cute doggies the only other perk is that they offer classes their«Witchcraft» classes and do readings as well as consultations. I would love to attend a class or reading but entering the store really turned me off. Overall, drive to Norfolk for a better selection and nicer staff or stick to ordering online, people.

While I appreciate that there is another«Pagan“shop in the area other than Mystic Moon. The selection of items in the store was extremely lack luster featuring mainly crystals/rocks & a few candles. Which is by far not what I am looking for. I am hoping to find something more along the lines of Ye Ol Occult Shop. For those in the know. After witnessing another customer try and sell a few items there. I can’t help but feel the attitude from the store owner was that of a snake in the grass and kept referring to what a better deal she could get from her suppliers. Being that this is in Newport News I probably won’t be stopping by again.
