Best place around the area! Been going here for years. Everyone is so nice and the waitress’s do a great job. Terrific food, especially the french toast. Can’t say enough good things about the place. This is my family’s favorite place to eat when we want home cooking.

We went to North Pole today for breakfast, and ordered 2 of there Eggs Benedict with ham. The hollandaise sauce had no flavor and the hash browns were under cooked and lacking flavor. The manager stopped and asked us how are meal was and we informed him of what we thought. He asked us if we had eggs Benedict there before. We said no and he walked off. TACKY

Ahh, the shining star of Newport(although that doesn’t seem hard to accomplish in this town). After being greeted by a stuffed polar bear, the inside resembles that of a hunting lodge were you’d find your grandpa sipping premium Columbian coffee mumbling on about the«good-ol’ days» to the waitress. Any sort of classic dinner food you can think of is on their menu, so don’t go complaining that they don’t have oysters on the half shell. This place is for the blue-collared, labor workers looking to get in, eat, and get home. Quick service that puts large companies in their place. My only complaint is the small ass glasses they give you for water when you come in. Damn, three sips and it’s gone. Oh well, great food regardless and damn good pricing. Can’t beat that. Stop in, enjoy yourself some breakfast and get back to achieving the American dream.

Great little diner with everything you’d expect — has been updated and very clean establishment but you feel like you walked into a 1960’s restaurant. Fantastic breakfast — really good value. A regular spot for our family.

Awesome pancakes! The oatcakes are my favorite, with the brown sugar and cinnamon are amazing with just melted butter. My kids and husband love their regular pancakes, but one pancake is enough. These pancakes fill an large dinner plate and sometimes overlap the plate! The service tends to be slow, but it gives you more time to talk and digest.

My girlfriend and I came with a Metro dining card for Saturday breakfast. Our waitress immediately stopped us when we showed it. Even though the card said it was valid anytime, it wasn’t. Fine print mentioned only after 12PM on weekends and anytime during the week. Anyways, we got pancakes, eggs, and ham. My pancake looked broken which I mentioned after the waitress left. She immediately came back with a stack of pancakes for me to go free of charge. That is service. Well, we will come again when our Metro dining card is valid. The restaurant has a gift store next door with some items like cards, wrapping paper, etc. We didn’t get a chance to browse but looked like something to see kinda like Cracker Barrel’s general store.

GREAT breakfast food with fast service. After working in the restaurant business I can appreciate their table tents that say«due to the size of our kitchen it may take up to 30 minutes for us to make your food.» Food takes time people! Even with that warning though– it was still only 10 or 15 minutes. It’s good to see managers working hard too– cleaning tables, seating open tables, and running food. We will be back.

Nostalgia can have its limits, and the North Pole has exceeded it’s welcome in my book. Breakfast is great here, yet any other time of the day is not so good. Went for dinner and got the meatloaf and baked chicken special. When Ms. Grumpypants came with the food, the dinner salad had seen better days, the meatloaf was a bit odd, almost like it was past it’s expiration, and we can only assume that the chicken was«baked» in the Sahara for several weeks. The updated to the layout of the restaurant was nice and added some more seating, but honestly, if you don’t have good food, décor doesn’t matter. Probably will be skipping this place from now on to go to Keys or Park Café.

I don’t get the line. It was OK but not great. Go across the bridge. Breakfast restaurants are kind of like liquor stores. They both seem to be recession proof. If either goes out of business, they must really be doing something wrong. I used to live just across the Wakota bridge from North Pole, but never made it in when I was living over there. Based on today’s visit, I would say I was not missing much. Twenty minute wait for a table. Once seated, another twenty minute wait for the food. I wouldn’t complain about the wait as it kind of comes with the territory for breakfast spots, except the food was not worth the wait. French toast was pretty thin and nothing special. I’ve had better french toast made by friends and family. Dining companions complained that it seemed like their food had been sitting out awhile as it was less than warm when it arrived. If you are in this neck of the woods and in need of breakfast, I would suggest Stockmen’s which is just on the other side of the bridge. Smaller than North Pole, but never a wait and better food. Just my two cents.

We stopped in for a late breakfast on our way to Red Wing for a hiking day trip. Thank goodness for this place! Like so many diners in small towns on the way«Up North» or «Out State» the North Pole Restaurant is a great example of simple, classic, American diner fare. The décor is simple, old-tymey, and unassuming. It paints a perfectly clear picture of the food that they have – which does not disappoint. Don’t expect fancy food. This is greasy spoon comfort food at it’s finest. My wife had a plate of pancakes, bacon and eggs. I had and omelette, corned beef hash, and coffee. All of it was great. I’m getting hungry again just thinking about the food. It was tempting to order another couple sides, but I had to decline in hopes of maintaining my mobility on our hiking trip. The service here seems a little cold, but that didn’t bother me since they were all about getting us served and on our way. We did not, however, feel rushed. The prices are in perfect harmony with the quality and service here. Very glad we stopped in and hope to make it back before too long.

Alright, my husband and I eat together for two main things: late night dinners and brunch. So, we gave this place a shot for brunch. The food was ok at best, but the corned beef hashbrowns literally had the taste and texture of vomit. It made me very sad because I LOVE corned beef. I ordered my eggs over hard, and the yolks were still way too wet. As for the service: the wait was crazy long, but I’d heard such good things, I thought it would be worth it. They seated the large groups first(seriously?) and we waited 25 minutes to sit at the little bar. The atmosphere was really cute(they earned a star back for that one), but it was spoiled by the extremely loud servers complaining all through our brunch. I get it. Work isn’t always fun, but don’t whine about it in front of customers. Seriously. The corned beef hashbrowns still make me sad…

Very nice diner. Very interesting to be right next to a drug store. We had Eggs over easy, eggs over medium, bacon crispy, sausage, pumpernickle toast. The server was professional & efficient. The chef got the eggs right, even the over medium! Plenty of parking in front.

Used Unilocal to find a non-chain-local-flair kind of place and this place fit the bill. Ordred breakfast and it was good, but its breakfast… pretty standard stuff. Prices were good. Service was fine.

My girlfriend and I happened to stop by at a very slow time during the day. We were the only ones there… and it was our first experience. The waitress was extremely rude and had a major staring problem. She never acknowledged us saying thank you for anything and pretty much just slammed the plates down in front of us. They were having a special that day, so we both ordered the taco salads. Big mistake. The meat was cold and very poor quality(it was like eating hardened orange chunks of fat and old grease), the lettuce was an odd salad mix that had carrots in it and the taco shell was completely stale like it had been sitting out overnight. The entire time we were there, we could hear the cooks in the back complaining loudly about this and that and sticking their heads out to yell at the waitstaff. My girlfriend got a soda and said it tasted flat. I had a glass of awful water… it tasted like someone had dumped baking soda into it. It was a pretty awful experience. And everything at our table, including the laminated menus, were covered in dried globs and grease. It certainly wasn’t a cleanly place. We both agreed that we’re not going to be coming back to this location. The food was awful, but the waitstaff made us feel so uncomfortable that it just wouldn’t be worth it.

Yay! A non-chain that makes delicious classic American diner food not 2 miles from my house! Definition of comfort food! The Man and I eat here at least once a week. No joke. Usually for breakfast, sometimes for lunch. Never for supper. Actually, I’m not sure they’re open for supper… Anyhow– great little place. Typical diner food– heavy focus on breakfast«Served all Day» and sandwiches, with some other dinners(Ham steak, Meatloaf, etc.) thrown in. Best soups– especially their potato soup! The pancakes are huge– the size of the dinner plate it comes on. The blueberry pancakes are a favorite of mine. As is the grilled cheese with bacon and tomato. The Man alternates between the French Toast with a side of Ham or the Chicken Fingers with Mashed Potatoes. And the creamy potato soup. The staff is really friendly, as are the owners. Once you order, your food comes lightning fast. Not gonna lie– sometimes takes them a few extra minutes to come take your order, but trust me, it’s because they are busy being friendly to somebody else. About 75% of the people in there at any given time seem to know each other, and expect to be chatted up by one of the men sitting at the counter :) When I’m old and grey, I’ll be telling small children about the shining star of my youth that was known as the North Pole Restaurant– a warm, cozy den of deliciousness, where friendly people waved as you walked in and the waitress called you ‘Hon’ and they served up the most comforting food I’ve eaten.

Let me preface this by saying that I love hole in the wall diners. There’s just something that’s so All-American about getting standard breakfast fare at somewhere that’s been around for ages. I love their french toast. Let me clarify: I LOVETHEIRFRENCHTOAST. I would eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner if the hubs would go for it. Oh, and their eggs are cooked perfectly, no matter how you order them — which is key for the preggo lady that can’t have her eggs runny, but highly prefers them not charred. North Pole, I love you.

I was PUMPED to try this place tonight, given my love of tiny diners and its proximity to my new home. But… WOW. I’m guessing a bad LSD trip would have been more enjoyable than our dinner experience. My boyfriend and I walked in and hovered by the front door for a minute desperately searching for a «wait to be seated» or «seat yourself» sign. No sign was located, but luckily the waitress(FROMHELL, I’ll call her Lucy) snapped«just seat yourself.» Lucy’s tone was a mix of frustrated, bitter, and evil. And so began the parade of horribles… Lucy’s attitude completely destroyed what would have been an below average meal. She failed to acknowledge any of the 15 or so «thank yous» we offered during our meal. Not a «your welcome,» «no problem,» or even a slight head nod was to be found. Beyond rude. Lucy patently ignored us, and instead split her time between her extended family sitting at the counter and attending to other tables that appeared to be regulars. Lucy never bothered to ask how our meal was or whether we wanted dessert. Instead, she slammed down the check(while we were still eating) without a word. Lucy’s hatred of us actually became comical, and the bf wanted to ask her what we had done to cause her to hate us so much. I was curious, but my intense fear of confrontation mandated that the bf ignore his urges. Other fun facts: The BFs dinner(roast beef plate) arrived 5 minutes before my BLT. My sandwich was lukewarm. The fries? Good. But the horrific treatment stole the show. Lucy made us feel like we had just beat to death a baby seal in front of a school tour group at Sea World. I wanted to cry, but laughed instead. We won’t be back.
