Great place to pick up all your mansion souvenirs if you didn’t feel like carrying them around while visiting the houses. Stopped in here a few years ago on our first visit to Newport, and made sure to return on our more recent trip. This time, we picked up a couple of magnets, a big mansion guide, and an umbrella(only $ 10!) because it was a bit rainier than we expected. The staff is welcoming and helpful, and I love the variety of items they have out on display! They have everything from kids’ toys to fancy home furnishings. It’s a nice little shop, and it’s worth your time!

I wish I could give this place zero stars. That’s what they deserve. in the 50 years I’ve lived in this country have I been treated so rudely by a shop keeper! My wife and I went into this place around 3.30 Friday afternoon, 4÷22÷2016 to browse. On display was a stuffed animal with a ship captain’s hat on its head sitting in a little boat rocker. I moved the bear slightly, adjusted the hat and positioning and was lining up to take a photo with my iPhone when a large man bluntly and rudely said«You’re not allowed to take pictures in the store». When I asked why he said«because I said so.» I told my wife who was about 10 feet what had just transpired. She thought I was joking. We left. Never to return. My suggestion to people looking for souvenirs is this — there are plenty of nice stores with nice friendly staff, give them the business. The Newport Mansion Gift shop is a great destination if you are happy being mistreated by a rude, pompous unfriendly and unreasonable blow hard

A cool store with a very cool purpose The Newport Mansions Store is a cool place to find a unique gift or to spend some time browsing. Definitely not a touristy place, no plastic junk, just lots of interesting and educational items. Many books and prints about old Newport, especially pertaining to the age of the incredible, opulent mansions. Fascinating reading, it’s difficult to put them down. I like buying books for friends, that way I can read them myself before giving them away. Also lots of cool looking jewelry, some clothing and various historical stuff. The store seems to have a huge collection of scarves in many different colors and bizarre patterns. A very cool place to spend some time and money while in Newport. The best part is that the purchases support the Preservation Society of Newport. A great organization that helps keeps the history of Newport alive. A cool store with a very cool purpose
